███ Wizards, Magic, Suns swap players in three team deal
ORLANDO-WASHINGTON-PHOENIX (AP)

The NBA has approved a deal which will send Magic forward Rashard Lewis to Washington for guard Gilbert Arenas. The Phoenix Suns are also part in the three team deal and will receive center Marcin Gortat to Orlando, whilst forwards Hedo Turkoglu and Earl Clark will land in Orlando.

"This is a big deal which should help every team starting a new era", TNT analyst David Aldridge said.

The Magic were eliminated in the Conference Semi Finals for the 2nd time in a row, whilst Phoenix was swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the Playoffs. The Washington Wizards did not make the postseason at all and were looking to get rid of big contracts to start up completely new.

███ Yao, Rockets agree on 48M $, 4 year deal
HOUSTON(AP)

The Houston Rockets announced that they have resigned Chinese center Yao Ming to a new contract this morning.

Yao will reportedly earn 48M $ over the next four years and the Rockets have a team option for the fifth year. The Asian big man only missed five games last season and averaged 18.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for the Rockets, who got eliminated by the Spurs in the first round of the Playoffs.

"We feel like Yao can be the focal point of our team for years to come, and as much as he feels loyal to us, we do so", General Manager Darryl Morey of the Rockets said.

Both parties had already agreed on a new deal, but it took them two weeks to negotiate the details of the contract. Yao proposed a five year deal but the Rockets thought it was too risky with his given injury history.

The Rockets also resigned forwards Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes to three year and four year deals respectively.

███ Thunder resign Green for five years
OKLAHOMA CITY

The Oklahoma City Thunder and forward Jeff Green have agreed on a five year deal which will reportedly earn the four year veteran 55M $.

Green was drafted by the club in 2007 as the fifth overall pick and has proven to be a solid sidekick to franchise player Kevin Durant.

"We feel like there is no reason to change the face of our team right now, and if Kevin (Durant) is the mouth of the team's face, than Jeff (Green) is the nose", Thunder GM Sam Presti told media.

Green averaged 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds last season as the team's power forward. OKC also resigned backup forward Nick Collison to a one-year contract worth 3M $.

███ Marcus Camby retires from NBA basketball
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)

One of the league's best shot blockers of all time, Marcus Camby has announced his retirement today on a press conference by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Camby, who still had one year (8M $) left on his contract will join the Thunder coaching staff. "On the one hand, it's time to make place for younger guys, like Serge Ibaka", Camby said. "On the other hand, I don't want to get traded again, I don't want to let my family down once again", the center added.

Camby played for four teams over the last two years after being traded from Portland to the Thunder this February. He could not win a ring in the end, with the Thunder being kicked out of the Playoffs by the Mavs. The 37-year old holds career averages of 10.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. He's 15th in the NBA for career blocks.

███ Portland resigns Oden, Johnson
PORTLAND(AP)

The Portland Trail Blazers have resigned center Greg Oden to a 6-year deal worth 69M $. The 23-year old Oden only missed two games last season after only playing 82 games in his first three seasons combined. The ex-Buckeye averaged 11.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last season.

"We feel like Greg's injury problems are gone now and see a young, defensive minded, hustling big man, who tries everything to win", Portland GM Rich Cho said.

After getting rid of Marcus Camby and with the decision to not resign Andre Miller, the Blazers tried to make another step to a roster renovation in signing sophomore point guard Armon Johnson to a 4-year 22M $ contract. Johnson will be the backup for this year's deadline acquisition Eric Maynor, who will have to justify a contract extension after this season.

"We need depth on the guard position, that's why we resigned Armon and Patty (Mills) and also want to give Eric (Maynor) a chance to break through", Cho added. Patty Mills signed a 1-year contract for the league's minimum with the Blazers.

Carmelo Anthony will wear number 7 with the Knicks

New York, New York: Melo, Billups traded to Knicks
July 25th, Posted 11:03 am

The New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony have finally managed to get together, but it took them more time and a higher price to finally find a way to each other.

Melo resigned with the Denver Nuggets for a max contract of 123M $ over 6 years, a deal the Knicks could never offer him. Further Denver had to resign Chauncey Billups for a 2-year 20M $ contract in order to get his agreement for the deal. The Knicks on the other sider resigned Wilson Chandler to a 29.9M $ contract for 4 years with a team option for a fifth year.

They then sent Chandler, Italian forward Danilo Gallinari, point guard Raymond Felton and center Timofey Mozgov to the Nuggets in exchange for the resigned Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups and forwards Renaldo Balkman and Shelden Williams. The Nuggets also receive a 2014 1st rounder and a 2012 and 2013 2nd round draft pick.

"A sign-and-trade was necessary because Melo wanted a max contract the Knicks could not offer him and Billups said he only wanted to leave his hometown Denver if he has a secure deal for the end of his career", NBA.com analyst Carl Column writes.

Billups is not happy with the situation but said that for pursuing another ring he will do everything, even leave his hometown Denver. The veteran guard averaged 20.6 points and 7.3 assists last year.

Carmelo Anthony, who was the league's third best scorer last year with 26.5 points per game already mentioned that he did not want to stay in Denver and wanted to play in a big market city.

The Nuggets, who missed the Playoffs for the first time since Anthony's rookie season last year (40-42), were looking to head into another direction.

"We think Wilson (Chandler) is a young and very gifted player that we want to add to our roster", General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe commented on Chandler's four year contract.

Raymond Felton (12.2 ppg/6.6 apg last season) and Danilo Gallinari (11.4 ppg) will also play a big role in Denver's rebuilding, whilst Timofey Mozgov might be the dark horse of the trade after a strong rookie season (3.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game).

Both teams will also look to add some depth in the upcoming draft where the Knicks will have a high lottery pick (6th best chance for number one pick) and Denver will also have a top 15 pick.

Grading this deal is not very difficult, because both teams profit in a way. Denver found a way to handle the Melo-dramatic situation by getting a big load of talent and draft picks, the Knicks finally got the player they were pursuing for and maybe the best player since Patrick Ewing. After a 31-51 record last season, the Knicks will finally be able to compete for Playoffs next season.

Both teams deserve an "A" for this deal, because both got what they need to achieve their goals. Let's see how things will turn out for them next season.

Knicks also acquire Brewer from Minnesota

The Knicks have also striked in a separate deal which will send their forward Anthony Randolph to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for forward Corey Brewer.

Brewer had signed a 2-year deal over 6M $ with the T-Wolves last week with the 2nd year being a player option. The ex-Gator saw his minutes decreasing last year with the arrival of Rip Hamilton, while Anthony Randolph did not see enough playing time behind Amar'e Stoudemire.

Nuggets resign Afflalo, Martin

The Denver Nuggets also did several other moves to build their 2011-2012 roster. The team announced that it has resigned Kenyon Martin to a 1-year 2M $ extension. They also signed guard Aaron Afflalo to a 4-year deal worth 20M $.

"We are glad that we were able to retain both players, who will stand for some consistency on our roster with all those moves we made", General Manager Vandweghe said.

New York Madness
July 26th, Posted 6:33 am

The fans, officials and players of the New York Knicks must feel like christmas, eastern and thanksgiving are one day this evening.

Only one night after acquiring Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups in a not lopsided, but pretty exciting deal for the Knickerbockers, New York experienced one of the luckier bounces in recent draft lottery history as they snatched the number one pick of the 2011 NBA draft with only a chance of 6.8%.

The number one pick is almost 100% linked to Lance Meredith, the UConn Huskies big man and two time NCAA champion.

"This is what happens when you stay patient", General Manager Donnie Walsh of the Knicks said. "We did not force any deals and now we landed pretty much what we wanted".

The draft will be held in Prudential Center in Newak, New Jersey this year, which adds a special flavour to the whole procedure.

"It would have been better to have him chosen in MSG Centre", Walsh said, "but this adds a pretty little something for the New Jersey fans" he added with a smile on his face.

Not only the Knicks were winners of the draft lottery. The Washington Wizards climbed the ladder from the fourth best chance to the 2nd pick of the draft and the Seattle Supersonics, with the fifth best chance for the number one pick landed at number 3.

If there are winners, there also must be loosers of the Lottery. There are two big loosers this year: The Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Clippers. With the first and the 2nd best chances of getting the number one pick, Detroit slid to pick number four and L.A. to pick number 5.

"You cannot really do anything against it", Joe Dumars said. Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro added "that we had luck in recent years, you can't be lucky all the time".

The Toronto Raptors also slid from the third best chances to the sixth pick. Apart from these teams, the Lottery chances and picks did not change one bit.

Contract agreements

In line with the Lottery taking place, a few teams announced that they have resigned several players to a new contract.

The Philadelphia 76ers, who will have the 18th pick in the draft announced that they have resigned center Spencer Hawes to a 27M $ contract for three years.

The Utah Jazz have retained G-F CJ Miles for two years. The deal is worth 3.55M $. Further, the Jazz announced the resigning of Russian forward Andrei Kirilenko.

"AK-47" will stay with the Jazz for another 4-years with a team option for the fifth year. The small forward agreed on taking less money in order to improve the team further and will earn the MLE in every year of his contract (around 5M $).

The big winner, the Knicks, said that they have resigned Kelenna Azubuike and Eddy Curry in order to boost their pretty small roster after the Melo trade. Both will stay for one year. Curry is said to earn the league's minimum whilst Azubuike's salary will be around 3M $.

Damn, I think people are gonna say this was rigged. With Lance Meredith in the fold, the Knicks have now moved into the NBA's elite (Y)

Imagine if for some reason Knicks didn't pick Meredith. I really hope game isn't that stupid as Knicks need a starting centre. Please make sure you have Amar'e listed as a starting PF (with no secondary position, you can edit it back later) in your Association so Knicks don't think they already have a star centre

Valor, that's exactly what I thought.

The X, thanks, man :D The Sonics will be back into the focus when I start to sign FAs and draft players, which means when I start forming my team.

About Meredith, I'm confident he will be selected by the Knicks. I simmed the draft like 20 times in earlier stages just for fun (at midseason etc.) and he went first every time, really every time. He's just rated way better than the 2nd best player.
The only thing that happened once was that he got traded during the draft, I hope that won't happen.

puttincomputers, they are ... will battle the Heat in the East - look out Heat - Knicks rivalry back :D

███ NBA Draft 2011 ahead, NBA.com Mock Draft
NEW YORK(AP)

The 2011 NBA Draft will take place next Saturday at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The New York Knicks own the first pick of the draft and hope to add a quality piece in Lance Meredith to their new core of Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Amar'e Stoudemire. Have a look at the NBA.com Mock Draft below.

Image

███ Shocking trade sends Jazz' Williams to New Jersey
NEW JERSEY - SALT LAKE CITY(AP)

The Utah Jazz have traded their one-time All-Star point guard Deron Williams to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for forward Derrick Favors and one-time All-Star guard Devin Harris.

Williams, who averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 assists but also missed 26 games last season because of injury, did not like the personal decisions of the front office in Utah and already mentioned that he would not like to resign when his contract expires in 2012. The Jazz missed the Playoffs without their go-to-guy with a record of 39-43.

The Nets though are looking to retain Williams after his contract expires and want to add more pieces to their roster via Free Agency.

"We are not done yet", Mikhail Prokhorov, the Nets' owner, said.

Devin Harris averaged 19.2 points and 5.6 assists per game last season, whilst Derrick Favors made the All Rookies 2nd team and averaged 7.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

The Jazz are looking to find a new mix after resigning Andrei Kirilenko and adding the two former Nets players to their squad. They also have resigned guard CJ Miles for two years worth 3.7M $.

███ Clippers, Cavaliers swap point guards
LOS ANGELES - CLEVELAND

The Los Angeles Clippers announced that they have traded their point guard Baron Davis to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for guard Mo Williams and a 2012 1st round draft pick.

"We felt like Baron did not really fit into our plans", Clippers' owner Donald Sterling said. Davis averaged 14.2 points and 7.9 assists last season but the Clippers only won 24 games last season.

The Cavs are looking to rebuild their roster after giving up Antawn Jamison in February and try to deal with their post LeBron roster. Williams averaged 22.6 points and 5.6 assists last season.

The 2012 1st round draft pick is unprotected and could very well end up being a lottery pick depending on the Clippers upcoming season.

The Cavs also have acquired Semih Erden and Luke Harangody from the Boston Celtics for a future 2nd round draft pick, General Manager Danny Ferry announced.

███ Antawn Jamison steps down, leaves 15M $ on the table
NEW ORLEANS (AP)

Antawn Jamison retires from NBA basketball, the 6-9 forward out of North Carolina announced yesterday.

Jamison would have earned 15M $ next year but said that he does not feel like being on road trips and leaving his family alone anymore. The 34-year old will instead settle down in New Orleans and be an assistant coach for the Hornets.

Rumors say that Jamison will earn a part of his former salary for his decision to retire and give the Hornets more financial flexibility. Jamison, who played for five teams during his 13 years in the NBA holds career averages of 19.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

███ Hinrich sent to Atlanta in two team deal
WASHINGTON - ATLANTA(AP)

The Atlanta Hawks have acquired Kirk Hinrich in exchange for Mike Bibby and Jordan Crawford.

The 8-year veteran out of Kansas averaged 6.2 points and 4.0 assists coming off the bench most of the time behind John Wall and Gilbert Arenas.

The Hawks are looking to add a decent point guard since Mike Bibby has lost a step or two and only averaged 7.0 points and 4.7 assists as their starting point guard last year.

Bibby will most likely be the backup of John Wall while Jordan Crawford might see some playing time with the departure of Gilbert Arenas.

The sophomore swingman averaged 6.7 points per game last year and made the Rookie Challenge on All-Star Weekend.

███ Kendrick Perkins resigns with Clippers
LOS ANGELES(AP)

The Los Angeles Clippers have resigned center Kendrick Perkins to a 2-year deal worth approximately 16M $.

The 6-10 center joined the Clippers last February when he got traded from the Celtics after moaning about playing time in Beantown.

Perkins will most likely come off the bench behind Chris Kaman and Blake Griffin and strenghten the Clippers' backcourt.

The Clippers have not yet announced wether or not they want to resign DeAndre Jordan.

███ Trail Blazers acquire Gerald Wallace, turn into contender again?
PORTLAND(AP)

The Portland Trail Blazers have striked a deal which sends forward Dante Cunningham, cash considerations and their 2011 first round pick (number 16) as well as cash considerations to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Gerald Wallace.

The Bobcats are looking to add talent to their roster and rebuild after missing the Playoffs last season (34-48). Wallace averaged 18.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game last season.

The Blazers are trying to find the right mixture of veterans and talent after resigning Greg Oden and Armon Johnson after giving away Marcus Camby and not resigning Andre Miller.

The Bobcats now hold the number 7 and number 16 pick of the upcoming draft and clear up around 13M $ in cap space.

███ Mavericks retain two
DALLAS(AP)

The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly resigned forward Caron Butler and center Tyson Chandler.

"These two were part of our run last year and if it was not for Caron's injury, we could have beaten the Lakers", Mark Cuban said.

Butler resigned for 3 years and 30M $, Tyson Chandler, who will most likely be the backup of Brendan Haywood will eanr 32M $ over the next 5 years.

The 6-7 Butler averaged 17.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last year, Chandler was plagued by injuries and only averaged 1.5 points and 2.5 boards per game.

███ Other minor resignings in the NBA
NEW YORK(AP)

The NBA also announced several contract extension which were registered this week. Take a look below for the resignings.

Chris Douglas Roberts resigns with Bucks for 3years 15M $.

Mario Chalmers resigns with the Heat for 3 years 19.5M $.

Marco Belinelli resigns with Hornets for 2 years 7M $.

Nick Young resigns with Wizards for 4 years 24M $.

Yi JianLian resigns with Wizards for 2 years 6.66M $.

Mike Dunleavy resigns with Pacers for 1 year 2M $.

T.J. Ford resigns with Pacers for 1 year 3.5M$.

Jonas Jerebko resigns with the Pistons for 5 years 28M $.

Grant Hill resigns with Suns for 1 year 5M $.

Jason Richardson resigns with Magic for 4 years 22M $.

Rodney Stuckey resigns with Pistons for 6 years 63M $ (<---- !!! omgwtfDUMARRRS)

Thierry •, Martti., I don't plan to get Meredith because that would too unrealistic. He's an All-Star center .. who would give away such a guy.

I did not do all real life trades, because not every move made sense in my D. Perkins for Green for example, since the first is on a different team and the latter resigned. Battier for Thabeet is also senseless, because Yao resigned and is injury free. I also cannot trade Brooks because he is already an FA, same for Landry-Thornton swap, both are FAs in my D.

So with all the trades done, let's go on with the draft, FA signings and the Sonics back on focus.
