Knicks, Nuggest and Cavaliers Complete Trade

Postby Pistol on Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:55 pm

The Carmelo Anthony Saga is Over
ImageImageImage
The Denver Nuggets sent Carmelo Anthony to New York to play with the Knicks. The Cleveland Cavaliers were also involved in getting Anthony to his dream team. Many people thought the Nuggets would be patient and wait to see what offers they got. People didn’t think this deal would happen until February, but with the recent events in Denver, Anthony was shipped off early on this season. Denver General Manager Masai Ujiri kept to his word and big changes are coming in Denver.

The Deal
Denver Nugget Get: Daniel Gibson, Anthony Parker, Eddy Curry, CLE 1st Rd Draft Pick, NYK 1st Rd Draft Pick
New York Knicks Get: Carmelo Anthony, Leon Powe
Cleveland Cavaliers Get: Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, Chris Andersen

Denver’s Break Down
Before Dallas came to town, this trade wasn’t close to being done. There was no rush and General Manager Masai Ujiri didn’t feel the need to hurry with this trade. Then the Mavericks beat up on the Nuggets and Chauncey Billups and Jason Kidd duked it out. After that Ujiri promised change and promised a new image in Denver. He was sick of the Anthony cloud looming over Denver and he hurried with this trade. Chris Andersen is the first victim of the ‘new image’ in Denver. He is sure to not be the last though as there are even more trade talks in Denver. The Nuggets were a promising team after last year, but as the new General Manager, Ujiri has made two trades after only four games. Many look at it as him losing control in Denver, but I guess time will only tell if he really does have a hold on the reigns.

Ujiri’s main goal was to get the draft pick of a lottery bound team. Well check that off the checklist as he gained Cleveland’s upcoming first round draft pick. He also grabbed New York’s upcoming first round draft pick. Denver took Eddy Curry off of the Knick’s hands. Curry’s involvement in this trade was simply to make cap space for Melo in New York. With Andersen gone in Denver though, Curry might get to see some extra action. From Cleveland the Nuggets also got guards Anthony Parker and Daniel Gibson. With Chauncey Billups out for seventeen games, Daniel Gibson will back up Ty Lawson at the point guard position. Anthony Parker should get significant playing time too and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Denver move him to the small forward position. He has the height to fill the position. In Denver’s eyes this was a good deal for them because the simply got Anthony out of Denver. In my eyes they did their job and got something in return for Anthony instead of losing him for nothing this off-season. Curry’s contract ends this year and that will give the Nuggets money to work with this off-season. The only problem I have is that New York gave up some big names, but none of them went to Denver. Grade B-

New York’s Break Down
The Knicks lost Amare Stoudemire last week to a broken wrist. He underwent surgery two days ago and is expected to be out for six weeks. This put New York in to hurry mode with this trade. They needed to bring in a star in a hurry so that when Amare got back they weren’t in a big hole. Carmelo Anthony should finally be happy again as he is playing for his ‘dream team’. Anthony was met by reporters after the trade was announced, “I’m happy this is all finally over. I wish the best of luck to the Nuggets and I appreciate everything they did for me. This season was obviously a drama filled four games and I think we are all happy to go our separate ways. I’m looking forward to finally playing back home. Can’t wait to suit up in blue and orange."

The Knicks knew they would have to give up some big players in order to get Anthony. Wilson Chandler had stated before that he would have some trouble coming off the bench, which made the decision for Knicks to put him in the trade over Danilo Gallinari. The Knicks also had to give up newly signed power forward Anthony Randolph. Without Amare in the lineup it was thought that giving up Randolph was a no go, but the play of recently signed Sean Williams made this trade easier. Williams has been playing superb with Randolph nursing a twisted ankle and he will continue to start while Amare is gone. New York manage to get Leon Powe out of Cleveland to help with their front court. With Amare still out the rotation for the front court will feature Williams, Powe, and the surging Ronny Turiaf. Grade A

Cleveland’s Break Down
The Cavaliers are still trying to recover from losing the profit LeBron James. The betrayed city went from championship contender to lottery bound. They didn’t have anything going for them until the Knicks and Nuggets called. General Manager Chris Grant gave this comment about the phone call from both Denver and New York, “When they called me and told me they wanted me involved in the trade I knew they wanted our draft pick. At first I thought to myself that there was no way I would get involved, but then New York started dropping some names. The guys we got have a lot of potential and I’m happy to have brought them into Cleveland. Hopefully we can convince Wilson Chandler to come back next year, but that’s to talk about later this season.”

Cleveland parted ways with fan favorite Daniel Gibson and veteran guard Anthony Parker, but the players they got in return will be worth while. The Nuggets sent Chris Andersen over to Cleveland and the Cavaliers are excited about it. Coach Byron Scott on Andersen, “Chris brings a lot of energy on to the court when he plays. He goes out and fights down low every game and that’s the kind of player we want.” From New York they get standout Wilson Chandler and Anthony Randolph. Both Chandler and Randolph are young players with tons of potential. I think Chandler and Randolph are better than getting whatever draft pick they might have gotten this summer, that is if they can manage to re-sign Chandler. Remember oo tat the Cavaliers are in a very weak Eastern Conference. These three might be just what they need to sneak into the playoffs as a seven or eight seed. Grade A+

Cleveland won big time, getting Wilson Chandler and Meal Ticket for scrubs and a pick. Denver is obviously building towards a future, taking on Curry's contract.

Yea, I'm looking forward to playing a game with him in NYC. It was challenging playing a game with the Knicks without Amare, Melo, Chandler, and Randolph. Very thin roster without all of them. It was travel day after the trade, so the Felton had to take over.

With Billups out on suspension Gibson will get serious playing time.

Yea, I was trying to make this deal different from others even though I was sending Melo to New York like everyone else. I'm really looking forward to Chandler being 'the guy' in Cleveland. I always thought Chandler was capable of it, so we will see.

Rebuilding, but hopefully in a way they can still get to the playoffs this year. Just wait, there are still moves to be made in Denver. There will be some more drama in Denver with my next few updates. Once those are done, I should probably move the drama bug to a different team.

CHUCK wrote:Pretty Nice deal for all three teams.

Yea I thought so too, tried to make it as fair as possible. With all the drama in Denver, the key for them was just getting Melo out, but in the process they still got two more draft picks.

Game Summary
The New York Knicks just made a big trade bringing Carmelo Anthony and Leon Powe to New York. They lost Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, and Eddiy Curry in the trade. Unfortunately for them, they would have to play without all of the players named above. Anthony and Powe had to travel to meet up with the team, so New York would be playing with a very thin bench and would have to depend on Raymond Felton to carry the team in Chicago. The Knicks came in at 2-2 and the Chicago Bulls came in with a 1-2 record. The Bulls were hungry for a win and they had a great opportunity against the Knicks.

The first half was a very hard fought battle and the Knicks surprisingly were only down by two points going in to halftime. Even more surprising was that the Knicks led for most of the first quarter until the Bulls had a late run giving them the lead after the first quarter. The Knicks would have some trouble in the third, but still only found themselves down by six going in to halftime. Raymond Felton on their first three quarters of play, “We were playing good, we are all starting to get familiar with each other. We are learning what one another are capable of. We played very well those three quarters, now only imagine what it would have been like with Melo or Amare.”

Then the fourth quarter rolled around and you could tell that the Knicks were tired and worn out. The Bulls and Ronnie Brewer came out strong and ran right around the Knicks. The Bulls are usually a slow tempo team, but they took advantage of a tired New York team and ran them up and down the court. The Bulls had two double-doubles and came one point and two rebounds away from having four double-doubles. As good as a victory as it was, there was still bad news for the Chicago fans. While Chicago was trying to close the game out with only three and a half minutes left, Luol Deng went up for a rebound and when he came down awkwardly he broke his ankle. He is expected to miss two months of the season and the Bulls are reminded of his troubles with injuries. Derrick Rose gave this after the game, “It sucks, especially since he was playing great so far this season. This is a big hurdle for us to get over, but I know my teammates and I know we can do it.”

The Bulls reached out to Larry Hughes after the game and signed him. General Manager John Paxson gave this announcement after the game, “We had already been in talks with Larry Hughes wondering how interested he was in playing with us. We were looking for more depth in the back court. We weren’t sure how much playing time he was going to get so talks were kind of at a stand still. After Luol went down we again reached out to Larry and he quickly agreed to come to Chicago.” Coach Tom Thibodeau was asked about where Hughes will fit in and he responded with this, “Larry will most likely start at the two and we will shift Ronnie over to the three. If he isn’t starting, Larry will end up being our main bench guy. Losing Luol hurt, but I think we will be able to recover from his loss with Kyle Korver and Larry.”

Game Summary
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been playing great this season and came in with a 4-0 record. Even after losing their sixth man Thabo Sefolosha, the team never lost a step. Bench players like Morris Peterson and Daequan Cook are filling the hole Sefolosha left. Coach Scott Brooks has always been positive saying, “Since I have been with the Thunder and since I have been head coach, this team has been about giving players chances. They are all about letting people step up that wouldn’t normally get the chance on other teams. That’s why we play so well, it’s because we have players hungry for an opportunity and we give it to them.” The Portland Trailblazers came in to the game starting off a little slower than the Thunder with a 2-3 record. The Blazers were in need of a big win over the Thunder to keep their record out of the losing record column.

The first quarter was very evenly matched and the teams kept going back and forth with no one leading by more than three points the entire quarter. The second quarter started off the same way for about half the quarter. Then the Thunder went on a tear and pulled away from the Blazers. Oklahoma City kept up their defense in the second quarter, but it was their shooting that gave them a twelve point lead. In the first quarter, the Thunder were 1-1 from behind the arc. In the second quarter they were 7-7 from behind the arc. James Harden was 4-4, Kevin Durant was 1-1, Cook was 1-1, and Peterson was 2-2. The four of them helped the Thunder take a commanding lead going into halftime. It was a good thing they were stepping up because Russell Westbrook was only 1-8 from the field in the first half.

The scoring slowed for both teams in the second half with neither team getting more than twenty points in a quarter. After the Thunder were 8-8 from behind the arc in the first half, they did a complete 180 degree turn and went 0-9 in the second half. No one could hit from behind the arc and if it weren’t for Harden’s ability to get to the basket the Thunder would have let the Blazers back in the third quarter. Thanks to Harden though, Oklahoma City extended their lead to fifteen points. Then the fourth quarter started and started off incredibly slow. Halfway through the fourth quarter the team combined had only scored six points. Then the Blazers started to pick it up in hopes of a comeback, but when they scored the Thunder made sure they got a bucket too. Is was mainly Jeff Green in the fourth quarter as he scored ten of his fourteen in the fourth quarter. He also recorded three of his four blocks in the fourth quarter. The Thunder lost the fourth quarter, but they coasted to a ten point victory.

The Blazers are now 2-4 on the season and are looking for answers on how to get things turned around before the fall behind in a very tough Western Conference. Their biggest question mark coming into the season was if they could stay healthy and that so far has been going great. No injuries, but what about the eight turnovers from Brandon Roy against the Thunder. Why on Earth is Roy averaging 3.2 turnovers a game? The Blazers biggest thing was chemistry and they all look like they have different coaches. None of them were on the same page. TNT commentator Reggie Miller had this to say after the game, “This team has everyone healthy and they have a bunch of talented players. They are deep in the back court and deep in the front court. So everyone is wondering why they are playing so bad. There only are against the 0-5 Clippers and a Knicks team that didn’t have Amare. These guys look like they have never played together. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but Coach McMillan better figure it out or this team is going to lose ground in the toughest conference in the league.”

George Karl steps down as Nuggets Head Coach
George Karl announced today that he would no longer be coaching the Nuggets this season. George Karl answered the medias questions at a press conference, but first gave this, “I am sad to say that my days coaching the Denver Nuggets are over. The Nuggets organization has been great to me in the past and I can’t thank them more for what they have done for me,” Karl got choked up as he continued, “It’s hard to walk away from these guys. I have gotten close to them all, but this team is turning into a team I don’t know. Masai Ujiri has made some big changes, but he isn’t close to being done with changes. I already know about some more trades in the works. As a coach you know that’s going to happen and you deal with it, but there is more to it that has made me resign.”

Reporter - “Care to share George?”

George Karl sighed and answered back, “Well in the coming Nuggets game you will see three players wearing suits on the Nuggets bench. One is Chauncey Billups which he is serving a suspension. Of course he isn’t going to suit up, but the other two players should be playing. Ujiri told me that he put J.R. Smith and Renaldo Balkman on the inactive roster while he works trades out. Smith and Balkman have been there for the team time after time and I can’t do that to him. This is all just to clear up some image Ujiri has created.”

Ujiri gave this comment after the George Karl press conference, “I’m sorry to see him go, but we weren’t quite seeing eye to eye. I’m new here and we had a conflict of interest. I want a new image around the team and he wants to keep his guys together. I gave him the opportunity to work with the new team, but as you see he walked away from the challenge. Assistant Coach Adrian Dantley will be taking over the coaching position the rest of the season.”

Reporter - “What about what Coach Karl said? About more deals coming out of Denver”

Ujiri looked angry as he answered the questions, “Now that my business is out on the table. Yes there are more trade to come out of Denver. This will be a new team and yes we are rebuilding in a sense. We are not rebuilding for the future though, we are rebuilding for this year. I still expect this team to compete for a playoff spot this year.”

This is My Explanation: Ed1

Postby Pistol on Wed Feb 09, 2011 7:05 am

This is My NBA. I control everything that happens in this league, to a certain extent. Of course I can’t control the injuries, but why would I want to. That takes the element of surprise away from me. I play some games every day, but I don’t really determine the outcome of the game. Whoever plays better that day wins and in all the games I have played, I would say that me and the computer have split. I have adjusted the sliders to make the game realistic and competitive. So what is it that I control? I control all transactions by every team such as free agent signing, NBADL assignments, and of course trades. I control the rotations of every team and I decide whether the team should fire their coach or not. I also determine what happens off court and I make the decision on how players are acting around the league. I’m not just the commissioner, I am god. Just like any other god I have followers and that is the NLCSers that put up with me and read my stuff. Now to respect my followers I will tell you why I am doing everything in my league. This will be a recurring article throughout the season to explain why I do the things I do. I will make sure I don’t ruin surprises that will come down the line. So now without further ado, ‘This is My Explanation’.

The Denver Nuggets
Why have I made so much drama in Denver? This is easy, drama and controversy make for a better story. It makes it more exciting to read, everyone has their basic dynasties and associations. I’m not here just to play a few basketball season, I’m here to tell a story. This is my world and in my world I want there to be curve balls. It gets boring watching fastball after fastball. Why the Nuggets then? I don’t know, they just got chosen out of the bunch. Here are some key reasons: Carmelo Anthony wants to be traded, the team never gets anywhere in the playoffs, and the have a first year GM in Masai Ujiri. This team just doesn’t seem the same without Anthony, so why not revamp the roster. Maybe Ujiri can build this team into a team that can succeed in the playoffs. With a first year GM having to deal with all the Anthony trade talks, I can imagine him being on edge and every little thing effecting him. That’s why the little Kenyon Martin story was made to be such a big deal by Ujiri. The Nuggets won’t be the story all year, there will be other teams that get hit by the drama bug. Also, expect there to be some more changes in Denver.

Carmelo Anthony Trade
So why did you trade Melo so early on in the season unlike IRL? There were a couple factors that played in to this decision. First, this isn’t real life and I could care less what is going on in real life. Second, I think most people agree with me in wondering how the Knicks could do with Anthony in a full season. Third, the Knicks got unlucky by losing Amare for 4-6 weeks with a broken wrist. With Amare out it makes sense for them to try and speed up the Melo trade talks so they have someone to keep their playoff hopes alive. Plus with the Nuggets falling apart from the seams, it makes sense for Ujiri to hurry this process up so he can deal with other issues within the organization.

Jason Kidd and Chauncey Billups Fight
Why did I have two calm and collected veterans duking it out? It all started when I went into the replay after the game ended to get a snap shot of Carmelo Anthony with his hands on his hips and his head down. While I was fast forwarding the replay to get to the shot of Anthony I happened to catch Kidd toss the ball in Billups direction once the game ended. Of course it was unintentional and there was no fight on the game, but wouldn’t it be a little more exciting if they did fight. Now we get to see if Beaubois and Barea will actually be able to replace Kidd. With the Nuggets going through all the drama, maybe Billups is on edge. Add the fact that the Nuggets just got beat down and are now 0-4, maybe the ball hitting his leg was just the cherry on top. Now Billups not only has to serve a 17 game suspension, but he may never play in a Nuggets uniform again.

George Karl Resigns
Why did I have the heart and soul of Denver leave the Nuggets? Well the Nuggets are in the process of losing all their main players from the past, so to me it would make sense for him to leave with them. Karl has always seemed like a guy that would stand up for his players no matter how wrong they were. With Melo and Andersen gone and Smith, Billups, and Balkman on their way out and a new general manager forcing Karl to do things, it only made sense for him to step down. It will be fun to see where Karl decides to go this off-season anyways. Maybe Karl will reunite with some of his players, who knows?

Trade Talks
Why are there so many trade talks this early in the season? Well it’s mainly because of injuries. A lot of teams have lost key players because of injures. With those key players gone they need someone to replace them. The trade talks in Atlanta are about Jamal Crawford getting traded so the Hawks will have someone down low to replace the injured Josh Smith. The Hawks still have guys to help out in the back court with him gone and it will give them a starting power forward to replace Smith. Then when Smith gets back, they will actually have depth in their front court. I personally didn’t expect there to be so many trades, but the situation is calling for them. I know a lot of people on the forums don’t like there to be so many trades, but with injuries and the story lines that are present it is bound to happen.

Kobe Bryant Scores 97 Points
Why the fuck is Kobe Bryant scoring 97 points? I know, I know it’s unrealistic and I know many of you wish I wouldn’t have done that. It appears as though I lost a lot of readers after I posted that game too. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. It gives me some headline and gives me history for my new NBA. It was fun trying to break 100 and if anyone was going to do it I thought Kobe Bryant deserved it most. I probably won’t be trying to break 100 anytime soon with anyone else though, so don’t worry about it.

The Ideas
What’s up with all these players that got boosts? I thought everyone would enjoy getting to vote for players getting boosts, you know the whole interactive part. Plus these were players that I wanted to see actually do something in the NBA. I wanted to see Tracy McGrady play like he used too. I know Vince Carter and Shaq probably didn’t deserve the boosts, but you guys all voted in favor of them. The one I didn’t hold a vote for that I think some people didn’t agree with was the Luke Walton and Patrick Ewing Jr boost. Why did I pick those guys? Well it’s a shame that they aren’t living up to their dad’s names, so I took it upon myself to help them get out of the shadows of their dads. Maybe with their boosted potential they will be able to be legit start in the league in a few years. Plus who doesn’t want to see J.J. Redick and Adam Morrison go head to head at the pro level.

For all the NLCSers
This little paragraph is to put out information to you. If you guys have ideas about some behind the scenes stories don’t be afraid to shoot me a PM. If I like it I will throw it in and give you credit for it. If you have articles you want to be featured in here just run it by me in a PM first and then I’ll give the go ahead to post it in the thread. If you have ideas on how to make this more interactive, then just let me know. I’m trying to make this as original as possible, trying to break away from the conventional stories. I want to have my own class just as Sit does. I hope that at one point this story gets to the level of where you guys are lost in the story. For the most part though, I’m just having fun with this story and will continue to produce stories that outrage the audience.

Yea, he will get some pretty significant playing time while Deng is out.

CHUCK wrote:Tough Lose for the Knicks. Guess George Karl doesn't wanna stick around for a retool. I'd like to see more of Cleveland rebuilding too. Good stuff man. (Y)

Cleveland has started the rebuilding process, they will probably make another move sometime this season.

It should be interesting to see how the new team produces. I like some of the pieces they have in place. Plus it's a new kind of team.

Valdis wrote:James with 30? Nice (Y)

I played with the Thunder that game and for some reason every time that I do, I can't miss with Harden. He is a beast.

Radioman wrote:This will be a tough season for the Nuggets, the suspension doesnt help them at all

At the moment i dont think they will make the Playoffs but who knows?

Sad to see Luel Deng going down.

We will see, like I have said I like some of the pieces they have in Denver. It really depends on who they get for Billups, Smith, and Balkman. I thought the Bulls had it bad until I played the Pacers and Bucks game. One team lost a starter and the backup in the same half. Yea I played a Pacers game just for you, it will be in the next update. Let's just say they are missing Hibbert.

Roy Hibbert is missed as the Bucks take down the Pacers
126-101

The Milwaukee Bucks took down the Indiana Pacers with ease as they exploited the Pacers hole down low. Roy Hibber is going to miss up to two months with a broken foot leaving Tyler Hansbrough, Josh McRoberts, Jeff Pendergraph and Jeff Foster manning the front court. They didn’t do a very good job as Milwaukee grabbed seventeen more rebounds than Indiana did. Indiana Coach Jim O’Brien on their rebounding woes, “Not having Roy down low is no excuse. We let them push us around and they flat out player more physical than us. That can’t happen” Both of these teams are thought of as making a push for the bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoffs, but with Hibbert out for so long do the Pacers really stand a chance at staying in the race? Now the Bucks aren’t in too good of shape as they lost two players in this game. Two minutes into the game they lost John Salmons to a Strained Achilles and they lost Michael Redd in the second quarter to a Separated Shoulder. Salmons is expected to miss one month and Redd is expected to miss two weeks.

Magic are getting it together as they blow out New Jersey
95-113

The Orlando Magic are getting the ball rolling now as they get a needed win against New Jersey. They Nets have been putting out some good showings as of late, but got blown out of the water tonight. Brook Lopez had a good showing in a losing effort with twenty-two points, twelve rebounds, and three blocks. Even though the Magic won the game people are starting to realize that Orlando has a glaring weakness. That problem is in their front court. Sure they have Dwight Howard and Brandon Bass who have been playing great, but after that they have no depth. Rookie Daniel Orton has been playing well, but they need to get some help down low so that Howard and Bass don’t end up burned out at the end of the season. With all that extra depth out on the wings, I don’t see how it would be a problem losing on of them to gain some front court help.
POG: Dwight Howard - 27pts, 14reb, 2blk

Chandler and Williams take down the 76ers
106-91

Cleveland’s new roster opens up with a strong victory. Still don’t believe me that this new roster can compete in the weak Eastern Conference? I really think this team has a shot at squeezing in at the seventh or eighth spot. Even if they do get rid of Antwan Jamison I think they still can do it. Jamison is a liability on defense anyways and if the get a another scorer on the wing for Jamison, that could actually help them. They won every aspect of this game. They out hustled the 76ers and they just flat out looked hungry. They have some new energy with Wilson Chandler now. Chandler came out energized and excited about being a premiere player now. He had twenty-five points and seven rebounds on the night. Chandler is a main piece here in Cleveland and they are going to depend on him to help carry this team to success. Chandler is in a contract year, but if Cleveland can prove to be a good team this year, he just might want to stick around. Andre Iguodala didn’t disappoint on the road with fifteen points, ten rebounds, and nine assists.
POG: Mo Williams - 25pts, 10ast, 1stl

Love score career high as the T’wolves come back to upset the Hawks in Overtime
108-109 (OT)

Atlanta choked big time in this one and are wishing Josh Smith would hurry up and come back. Smith, who isn’t expected back for two months, might have been able to slow down Kevin Love in the fourth quarter. The Hawks were leading 74-65 going into the fourth quarter. Love came out on a tear and scored ten points in the fourth quarter. Corey Brewer also had a nice night adding thirteen points and ten rebounds for the double double. Patrick Ewing Jr. only played fifteen minutes in a game that he fouled out in. He was in foul trouble the entire game forcing the Hawks to depend heavily on Marvin Williams and Josh Powell off the bench. As you can tell, they didn’t come through for Atlanta. Atlanta actually found themselves trailing by three with the last possession of the game. The ball was in bounded to Joe Johnson and he danced around a bit on the top of the key before going up for the shot. Two defenders jumped towards him leaving a wide open Mike Bibby. Johnson passed the ball while he was in the air and Bibby hit the three to take it to overtime. Overtime was a very hard fought battle, but Minnesota came out on top as Flynn hit two huge free throws to ice the game.
POG: Kevin Love - 28pts, 14reb, 2blk

CP3 hit’s a floater at the buzzer to give Miami first loss of the season
92-93

Tonight just seemed to be the night for dramatic finishes. This game didn’t feature a huge comeback though as these teams had a tight game the entire night. “It was an intense game. Usually the games start off energetic, slow down, and then get energized for the fourth quarter. Not in this one though, this had a playoff atmosphere to it,” LeBron James on the game. James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh did their part as they combined for sixty eight points, twenty three rebounds, and seven assists. All the starters were all hitting though as they all were in the double digits. Wade had hit a jumper with thirteen seconds left in the game to put the Heat up by two points. Paul then took over and dribbled past Chalmers and hit a floater over Bosh as time expired to net his tenth points. Emeka Okafor added to the game with a double-double that consisted of eleven points and sixteen rebounds. David West also added eighteen points.
POG: Chris Paul - 10pts, 15 ast, 9reb

Vinsanity is officially taking over as the Suns top the Grizzlies
88-100

Vince Carter is on a tear this season and leading the way for the Suns. Alvin Gentry commented on Carter performance, “He played great and he did a great job keeping everyone else involved too. It’s really nice having Vince now because it takes a lot of pressure off of Steve’s shoulders. I think this team can do a lot of things this season and we are looking forward to the rest of this season.” Steve Nash who also put up good numbers with seventeen points, six assists, and five rebounds. As good as the Suns might think they are, there are still rumors going around that they are looking for some help down low to help out Hakim Warrick and Marcin Gortat. The Grizzlies came back in the fourth quarter to make the final score look like it had been a good game by outscoring Phoenix by sixteen in the fourth quarter. In all actuality this was a huge blow out and Memphis didn’t show up at all.
POG: Vince Carter - 34pts, 6reb, 6ast

McGrady’s double-double fuel’s Detroit to victory
87-105

Detroit and Charlotte are both teams on the cusp of getting into the playoffs. Tracy McGrady stepped up tonight in hopes of inspiring his team to start winning games. McGrady was all over the court tonight as he recorded a double-double. McGrady finally looks like he is recovering from an injury riddled career. He wasn’t the only Piston who showed up as Rodney Stuckey added twenty-six points and Tayshaun Prince added twenty points. Richard Hamilton also added nineteen off the bench. Stephen Jackson added thirty points in a losing effort. Larry Brown had this to say after the game, “We aren’t playing defense like we did last year. The reason we were able to compete at a high level last year was because these guys came out and played some of the best defense in the league. We don’t have the offense to let teams get to triple digits.”
POG: Tracy McGrady - 29pts, 10reb, 5ast

Carmelo Anthony’s debut is overshadowed by the highlight reel Wizards
116-107

Washington gets their first win of the season as John Wall records career best twenty-two assists. Gerald Green also had a career night with a career best thirty-three points. The Wizards were a highlight reel hitting threes and throwing down ferocious dunks all night. Wall had about a half dozen alley-oops featured in his assists. This Washington team looks very promising while New York didn’t perform up to standard. Carmelo Anthony had forty points and seven assists in a losing effort. The Knicks weren’t having trouble, it was the defense that was lacking. They gave up too many open three point shots and looked tired out on the court. The day before Anthony was traveling and the rest of the team was playing very short handed. New York hopes to gain their legs back as they get a day off.
POG: Gerald Green - 33pts, 7reb & John Wall 13pts, 22ast

The Warriors stay hot after torching the Jazz
95-109

This victory not only gives the Warriors four victories, but some of those wins have now come against the Jazz, Lakers, and Rockets. Don’t think Golden State is for real? Tell that to Coach Don Nelson who had this to say after the game, “These guys are for real. They come out and play their butts off and bring out so much energy on to the court. Most people say we just play great at home, but let me remind you we went in to the Staples Center and beat the Lakers by double digit points.” Though it is very early in the season, the Warriors are playing great basketball right now. Both David Lee and Steph Curry had double-doubles. Lee had twenty-four points and thirteen rebounds while Curry had thirteen points and ten assists. Utah got off to a horrible start as they found themselves down 17-35 at the end of the first quarter. They could never recover and they eventually lost the game. Rookie Gordon Hayward has looked promising in the absence of Andrei Kirilenko though as he led the team with nineteen points.
POG: Monta Ellis - 28pts, 9ast

Bynum and Gasol put a stop to the Raptors
74-95

The Raptors hype has been quieted very quickly after a 3-0 start. They beat three teams that aren’t competing and the Lakers put them in their place. Kobe Bryant had the usual twenty-nine points, but the big advantage was down low as the Lakers out rebounded the Raptors 51-38. Peja Stojakovic tried to help out the Raptors as he scored eighteen points. Peja has been a big part of their three wins, but he wasn’t enough tonight. Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum had a great night tonight was they combined for thirty-five points, twenty-four rebounds, and six blocks. Shannon Brown also added eleven points and Steve Blake had a big game with six points, ten assists, and five rebounds. Andrea Bargnani was shut down by Gasol and Bynum as he only managed nine points and four rebounds.
POG: Pau Gasol - 18pts, 13reb, 4blk

Celtics keep winning without KG
98-107

Boston can thank Shaquille O’Neal for their success with Kevin Garnett on the Inactive Roster. Shaq had seventeen points and fifteen rebounds in the victory against Chicago. Jermaine O’Neal also added twelve points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. The Bulls had a bad first half as they trailed 45-58 at halftime. Their bad start really hampered them and they never recovered the rest of the game. Derrick Rose did all he could with thirty-five points, nine assists, and five rebounds. Larry Hughes had eleven points in his Chicago debut in which he started. Paul Pierce gave this after the game, “To be able to come out here and beat a team of Chicago’s caliber like this is huge. Especially with Kevin in the lineup. We are showing right now that we are going to be able to win no matter who we lose. That’s a big thing for a team to do in this league, winning without key players.”
POG: Paul Pierce - 23pts, 6reb, 3ast

No Melo? No big deal
97-124

Sure Denver played the win-less Clippers, but the Nuggets looked great in their new era without Carmelo Anthony. Al Harrington and Ben Gordon led the way as they each had twenty-five points. Nene also had a double-double with twenty-four points and twelve rebounds. Everyone that needed to step up for the Nuggets did as they trashed the Clippers. Baron Davis had twenty-five points and six assists in a losing effort. Blake Griffin was kind of disappointing putting up only eight points, but still grabbing fourteen rebounds. The big story was the fact that J.R. Smith and Renaldo Balkman were in suits and not jerseys. Smith gave this after the game, “This is bull s***. I have given one hundred percent into the Nuggets organization and this is how they want to treat me. I did nothing wrong, but instead this jack*** Ujiri wants to basically profile me. Just because I’m black and I have tattoos I am a bad image? Well more than half the players in the league are black and have tattoos hot shot. You won’t see me at another Nuggets game, the next time you see me I will be wearing another jersey. I’m not going to sit in a monkey suit and watch people play when I’m very capable of playing and contributing.” In other news, Chauncey Billups only has sixteen more games left on his suspension.
POG: Al Harrington - 25pts, 15reb

The Pacers look very bad in here , but who knows its a long season. Without Hibbert they are missing something under the board, McRoberts isnt that board grabber. I cant imagine playing my Pacers association without Hibbert, he is grabbing 15 rpg for me.
-
Al and Ben the new leaders of the Nuggets did a great jop securing the first Nuggets win.
-
Personally i prefer the other layout, because i am a lazy reader and more into stats and pics, but thats just my personal view.
