Chapter V. Doris Burke Investigates

AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX - after the game.

NBA Announcer Doris Burke was covering the game in San Antonio, where the Spurs were hosting the New York Knicks. The Knick's high powered offense broke the game in the 1Q with a score 32 to 19. While the Spurs would fight hard the rest of the way, it was a battle that they came up short by losing by 6 points with a final score of 98-92. The Spurs defense did limit Mike D'Antoni's high powered offense to less that 100 points, but Tim Duncan was limited against Amar'e Stoudemire because he is still hurting from a strained groin injury. The biggest drop off for the Spurs was with starting SF Richard Jefferson, who was 1 for 5 and scored only 7 points in 35 minutes of play. New Spurs owner Thierry Tirieux was clearly upset with the outcome of the game as his Spurs have been struggling to a 1-4 start of this early season, he was seen in the tunnel yelling at his players.

Despite the clear anger on Thierry Tirieux's face, Doris Burke gathered up all her courage to talk to him.

Doris Burke, "Mr. Tirieux! Mr. Tirieux!..."

Thierry Tirieux, looks over his shoulder, "Yea? who's that? Doris? I have no comment on this game..."
He then started to walk back into the tunnel.

Doris Burke, "No, Mr. Tiriuex, I have something else I wanted to talk to you about...off the camera..."

Thierry Tirieux, stopped, "Off the camera? Uhm, what is it?"

Doris Burke, "Well, Mr. Tirieux, it's a private issue, I need to ask you something..."

Thierry Tirieux, curiously walks toward Doris Burke, "What is it? And you can call me, Thierry"

Doris Burke, pulls out the note with the photo that she found from Vinny Del Negro after the Clippers game two nights ago. "Can you tell me what is going on here? That is you right? Thierry that is you talking to ex-Clippers GM Neil Olshey?"

Thierry Tirieux, is startled and angry. He snaps at Doris, "You stupid American! That is none of your bussiness! Now get out of my arena..."

He grabs the paper from Doris Burke's hands and stomps away, angrily murmuring under his breathe "Kid....je devrai lui parler..."

well its not really mad at her, just mad at the game and especially the situation...

remember this happened after the Clippers/Bulls game...

Doris Burke just finished an interview with Coach Vinny Del Negro when a piece of paper fell out of his coat pocket as he was walking back through the tunnel. Doris picked it up and opened it. It read "I know why they hired you..." along with a surveillance photo of now former Clippers GM Neil Olshey and new Spurs owner Thierry Tirieux secretly exchanging a package. Doris with a puzzled look on here face hid the note from the camera man.

looks like Thierry Tirieux has a secret and would be really mad if it got out....i wonder what the secret is

THE FACTS: The Clippers have just came home after a short road trip going 2-1 and now they are at home for an amazing 14 games (that covers until next year!). The Raptors on the other hand are still on the road and have dropped 5 in a row after their only win at home at the beginning of the season.

THE STAT: Clippers held the Raptors to 36-100 which leads to 36% - that includes the Raptors going 0-14 from 3 point

QUOTABLE: Ryan Gomes on perfect night "Ha, really? I didn't even notice. We all stepped up in this game 'cause we knew Blake was hurt. I guess we did a good job. It feels great to play in front of these fans."

HOT: Eric Gordon went 5-5 from beyond the arc and Ryan Gomes went 9-9, they were the Clippers top two leading scorers

NOT: Leandro Barbosa in the 2Q missed all of his shot attempts (0-7) and scored only 2 points off of 2 FTs, he would go on to miss 5 more shots in a row at the start of the 3Q

GOOD MOVE: With the game close after 1Q, Randy Foye started the 2Q with a posterizing dunk on Ed Davis, disrupted the inbounce passed to force a turnover, hit a 3 pointer, then after the Raptors missed on the next possession he hit Eric Beldsoe to assist on another 3 pointer; starting off the quarter with an 8-0 run.

BAD MOVE: After the Raptors cut a once 18 point lead to only 10 by the end of the 2Q, they came out completely flat in the 4Q. They went 2-10 in the first 6 minutes of the quarter to go on to only 6-25 (24%) in the 4Q

Injuries: Blake did not have such a dominating night because he was under limited minutes as he is still hurting from the twisted ankle he suffered in the last game, he should be back to full strength in the next Clippers game

NBA TRADES - BUCKS-SPURS-LAKERS HEADLINE TRADE

New Spurs owner Thierry Tirieux is said to be the main motivator in this trade.

At precisely the time when much of the world thought he must have been drifting apart from reality, Richard Jefferson was, in fact, sailing above the clouds after his agent officially announced that he was opting out of the last year of his contract and giving up $15 million. Jefferson got a new four-year deal worth $33.8 million, and he believed the next leg of the journey would be smoother. But only 24 hours after Peter Holt sold me the team, Jefferson found himself being traded.

I was impressed [with Maggette's stats]. As most Spurs fans have already pointed out to me in this past few days, the lack of accurate outside shooting was evident in last year’s playoff sweep to Phoenix. The Bucks take a huge gamble with Ron Artest joining the team, but they feel that they have a good chance of forcing their way into the upper half of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, where they are currently sitting in 6th place and only 0.5 games behind 5th place. With Ron-Ron now a Buck, all teams must really Fear the Dear! Ron Artest said he will wear #133 in to honor Bucks greats Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but when someone told him that he can't wear a 3-digit jersey, Ron-Ron consulted with his psychiatrist and will wear #31 instead.

The Defending NBA Champion LA Lakers, find themselves in an awkward position being 0.5 games behind the LA Clippers in the standings and what has really failed them has been their offense. Chris Paul is a great, great talent. But everyone needs a backup, last season the Hornets found success with Darren Collison filling in whenever CP3 was out. This offseason, he was sacrificed in order to acquire Trevor Ariza, and the Hornets were able to get Jarrett Jack from Toronto. Jack has not been able to find his game in New Orleans and has reportedly been unhappy. The Hornets hope that Ridnour find success and will be able to back up Chris Paul.

Minnesota also acquired another playmaker today, except not from the Point Guard spot by acquiring LA Lakers Luke Walton. David Kahn hopes that he finally has the right mix of players to make a winning team.

Because Lakers are struggling offensively in my association. Jefferson is an offensive player vs Artest who is a defensive player.

The Lakers have also been trying to shop Artest for a while (in my association)
