I didnt post some time here, but i am still following.

You should keep up the "behind the scenes" story. This makes it a lot more interesting and bond the readers to it.

Lets see what happens to Melo and Martin now

Game Summary
The Bostons Celtics head into this game with a 1-1 record and without their star power forward Kevin Garnett. Garnett has just began the healing process and still has over a month until he will be back on the court. New York was coming off an embarrassing loss to the Toronto Raptors and they were holding an 0-1 record. They knew they would have their hands full going into Boston, but this fast paced group of young players were up for the challenge.

The whole game was a battle and it was mainly between Shaquille O’Neal and Amare Stoudemire. O’neal and Stoudemire matched up with each other more times than not. Remember there as a time when these two matched up along side each other, but tonight it was the old school center in O’Neal versus the new age center in Stoudemire. It was a great matchup all game long, but it definitely seemed like Stoudemire was on another level. He was making fadeaways and making beautiful moves in the post. He didn’t try to overpower O’Neal, but instead stuck to his guns and forced O’Neal out of his comfort zone. Then with three and a half minutes left to play in the third quarter and the ball game tied up seventy all around, a worst case scenario happened to New York. Stoudemire had gone up for a dunk and O’Neal went for the block, but instead connected with Stoudemire’s wrist. As the Celtics saw Garnett go down to a broken wrist injury, they also saw the Knicks lose Stoudemire to the exact same injury. Stoudemire left the game and is not expected to return to action for up to six weeks.

Most people thought that this would be the perfect chance for Boston to pull away, but instead the teams stayed close going into the fourth quarter. Once the fourth quarter hit, it seemed like someone had went over to the Boston bench and stole their legs. The Celtics looked tired and they couldn’t keep up with the Knicks. Raymond Felton took over the role of star player and dominated the Celtics. Ray Allen fouled out with four minutes left in the fourth and on those free throws the Knicks went up by ten. They wouldn’t look back from there. The Celtics need to hurry up and find themselves before it’s too late.

New York keeps on playing hard, but the loss of Stoudemire will definitely slow them down. Felton did a great job picking up the slack, but now Ronny Turiaf and Eddy Curry need to step up and fill the hole that Stoudemire will leave. Felton commented after the game, “It hurts losing Amare, he was our foundation. We just have to come together as a team and fight through this, that’s what being a team is all about. Your going to lose people every now and then, but that’s why we have fifteen guys on the roster.” This also makes people wonder if losing Stoudemire will put a hold to the Carmelo Anthony trade talks or speed them up. Some think it will slow them down because some of the post players were involved in the trade, but some think it will speed it up because no they need that star power back in the lineup.

Game Summary
The Oklahoma City Thunder came into this game coming off their win against the Chicago Bulls. James Harden dropped thirty-two points in that game, but tonight someone else would step up for the Thunder. The Thunder were also going to be without sixth man Thabo Sefolosha, who is still expected to miss up to a month of action. Filling his shoes tonight was Daequan Cook and Morris Peterson. There as a lot of talk about the Detroit Pistons coming into tonight. They had let a lead go to the Nets in the fourth quarter in their previous loss, but that wasn’t the big talk. Star guard Ben Gordon had been put on the injured reserve list prior to the game. No this wasn’t because of injury, but my sources are telling me that he got into a huge argument with Detroit general manager Joe Dumars. If this is true, Ben Gordon has obviously requested a trade and ill not wear a Detrioit uniform again. Gordon wasn’t even at the Pistons’ home game.

Oklahoma City started off quick with a 9-0 lead and continued to dominate the entire game. The Pistons were no where to be found. It is obvious that the Pistons are in need of change and quick. This is a team that prior to last season had been to the playoffs eight years in a row and right now they are considered to be in the bottom of the food chain in the weak Eastern Conference. Personally though, I think that Detroit can make a move or two that could put them in the playoff picture. Let’s not forget they are in the very weak Eastern Conference. Whatever they do, getting rid of Ben Gordon would be huge for them because it rids them of that ridiculous contract.

Oklahoma City looked great again and are starting to make people think they are among the Western Conference elite. The Thunder continue to improve and are showing that this isn’t just the Kevin Durant show. The Thunder had their four core players all score over fifteen points and the one starter that didn't score much had seventeen rebounds. The ball was being spread around the team and the stats show that. The transformation from off guard to point guard has been a complete success for Russell Westbrook and tonight performance proved that. Jeff Green also appeared to be getting back into the mix. With how young this team is, the players are only going to get better. That right there scares the rest of the league.

Game Summary
This matchup was by far the most anticipated matchup in the first week of the NBA season. The Orlando Magic facing off against the stacked Miami Heat. Both teams came into this game without a loss making it even better that one of these teams first loss would be their bitter rival. These teams have grown to hate each other especially over the off-season when the Heat obtained LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Sounds like someone is jealous. Well the Orlando Magic made a couple moves of their own during the off-season bringing back Hedo Turkoglu from the Phoenix Suns and acquiring Gilber Arenas from the Washington Wizards. The Heat would be surprised to know that it wasn’t the ‘Big Three’ that hurt them down the stretch.

The first quarter started off bad for the Heat as they missed their first six shots. When I say they, I mean Dwyane Wade missed four shots and Bosh and LeBron missed a shot each. The Magic jumped off to a quick 8-0 lead. That would quickly fade as LeBron James would awaken and light up the Magic. Miami took the lead at the end of the first quarter. Coach Erik Spoelestra as feeling confident as he sat his three stars at the beginning of the second quarter, a decision that wouldn’t be made up for until the fourth quarter. The Magic jumped out of the gates and dominated the Heat in the second quarter. They started the quarter with a 20-4 run behind the amazing shooting of Gilbert Arenas. Oh yea, did I mention Dwight Howard only played nine minutes the entire first half? Yea, talk about foul trouble, but no worries Orlando has Arenas and Turkoglu. The Magic found themselves with a lead at halftime behind seventeen first half points for Arenas.

Coming into the second half the Heat continued to struggle and were having trouble just keeping up. James, Wade, and Bosh would score periodically to help keep the Heat in the game. James and Bosh would help out much more than Wade. The third quarter passed and the Heat still found themselves trailing the Magic by six. Then it happened, the Heat decided to become a team and not depend on Wade, James, and Bosh. In the fourth quarter it wasn’t one of those three that stepped up. The three that ran away with the game and helped them win the game were Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Mike Miller, and Eddie House. These three combined for twenty-five of Miami’s thirty-three fourth quarter points. While the stepped it up, Arenas and Turkoglu quickly faded into the backdrop as they couldn’t buy a shot. Stan Van Gundy could only watch as the Heat took the lead and ran away with the lead. Stan Van Gundy after the game, “It felt like we didn’t even have the lead. They let Miami take the lead and never look back. We backed them into a corner and then dusted their shoulders off for them as we let them out of the corner harmlessly.

Kenyon Martin - Kendrick Perkins

Postby Pistol on Fri Jan 21, 2011 3:45 am

Behind the Scenes

Kenyon Martin - Denver Nuggets
Image

Kenyon Martin was done getting dressed after their game against the Hornets. The Nuggets were embarrassed in New Orleans as the Hornets beat them 81-117. Kenyon was one of the first ones out of the locker room as he headed for the bus that would take them to the team plane. Once he got on the bus coach George Karl was already sitting on the bus. He looked up and saw Martin, “Hey Kenyon, let’s go outside and talk.” Kenyon was already heated about the loss and now didn’t feel like listening to Coach Karl complain about his play. Once they got off the bus Kenyon could see a figure across the garage. “Follow me Kenyon.” Coach Karl walked over to the man who ended up being Nuggets general manager Massai Ujiri.

Massai shook Karl’s hand and then shook Kenyon’s. “Tough loss coach, you mind giving me a few minutes with Kenyon.” With that Karl walked back to the bus. “Look Kenyon, your agent contacted me and said that he and Carmelo’s agent had been talking. They said you wanted to be in a trade with him.”

Kenyon knew this was going to the higher ups. Kenyon had told Carmelo Anthony to see if their agents could get them shipped together. Kenyon didn’t want out, but he didn’t want to stay if Anthony was leaving. “Look Massai…”

Ujiri cut Kenyon off, “I honestly don’t want to hear it. Us up in the front office are not going to let Carmelo Anthony control this team. He doesn’t run the show, we do. I don’t want someone on my team who is only hear because of one player. This isn’t the Denver Anthonys, this is the Denver Nuggets. There is no need for you to get on that bus. You going to Detroit.” With that Ujiri turned around and got into his car, he backed out and drove away leaving Martin standing in shock.

Carmelo Anthony was off in the distance staring at Martin. He quickly boarded the bus, his agent had told him about Ujiri blowing up on him. Anthony already knew Martin was going to be shipped, but he didn’t know how to break it to him so he thought he would just let the situation play out. Anthony of course felt bad, but that’s just how it works sometimes.

Kendrick Perkins - Boston Celtics
Image

Kendrick Perkins was walking through the tunnel after the Celtics tough loss to New York. He was surprised to see Danny Ainge standing in the tunnel as the Celtics shuffled in. He waved at Kendrick and walked over, “Hey Kendrick, you mind staying back for a quick second.” Kendrick agreed and they waited as the other players continued on to the locker room. “Look Kendrick, I know you are frustrated right now with the playing time. I’ll be straight forward with you, if Shaq doesn’t get hit with injuries, your not going to find yourself starting. I do want you to realize your in out future plans. I didn’t know this was going to upset you and I should have thought about that before I brought so many front court guys in. If you promise to stick around though, I will make some moves once KG gets back from injury.”

“Moves? What kind of moves do you mean?”

“Moves to ensure that you get more playing time. You should get back to the team though, just wanted you to know your part of the future here Kendrick.” Ainge then walked down the tunnel and disappeared. Kendrick walked over to the locker room where Rajon Rondo was waiting outside, “What did the big wig want?”

“Talk about my playing time.”

“Yea? What did he say?”

“I’m part of the future.”

“That’s good.”

“Rondo man, there are plenty of team that would want me now. Start me now and I wouldn’t have to come off the bench or hope someone gets hurt so I can play”

Rodno pulled Kendrick away from the locker room and spoke quietly to him, “Yo Perk, listen to me man. Shaq is going to be retiring this year probably. Kevin, Paul, and Ray are all getting old and on their way out. I need you hear man, the Celtics need you. You and I are the future of Boston, this will be our team in a couple years. I don’t want to do it without you man and I know that we will do big things here. I promise you as long as you stay I’m going to stay.” Rondo patted Kendrick on the back and walked into the locker room.

Pistons and Nuggets complete trade

Postby Pistol on Fri Jan 21, 2011 3:45 am

Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets swap players in first deal of the year
Image
The Deal
Detroit Pistons Get: Kenyon Martin, Gary Forbes, and 1st Round Draft Pick
Denver Nuggets Get: Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva

My Take (Detroit Pistons)
The rumors about Ben Gordon and Joe Dumars not getting along were proven true with this deal. Obviously there was some hostility towards Gordon and Dumars wasn’t having any of that drama. Detroit just signed both Gordon and Villanueva last year for four years each and for way too much money. They both didn’t help the team at all last year and I think the Pistons instantly regretted locking them in for that long. I think this is a smart trade for Detroit because they get Kenyon Martin whose $16.55 million contract expires at the end of year. This basically will give them a second shot at free agency this summer. While his contract expires, he still helps the team defensively and gives them a guy to energize the team. I think Martin can be their new Rasheed Wallace and that’s just the kind of player they need right now. First round draft picks always come in hand too. The only thing about this deal that looks bad on their part is that we all know Gordon and Villanueva are destined to be stars, it’s only a matter of time. Grade B

My Take (Denver Nuggets)
They are obviously preparing for the departure of Carmelo Anthony. Gaining both Gordon and Villanueva will keep them competitive even after losing Anthony. Gordon is only 27 years old while Villanueva is even younger at 26 years old. Denver will have these to for the next three years barring they don’t trade them away. Now if the Nuggets can manage to trade away Anthony instead of just letting him walk this summer, that should also keep this team competitive. They will gain a lot for Anthony, wherever he goes which ill only add to this already explosive team. They will hurt on the defensive side losing Martin though. Both players gained in this trade will benefit from the fast paced offense of Denver though. Grade A-

New Lineups
Detroit Pistons
PG - R. Stuckey
SG - T. McGrady
SF - T. Prince
PF - K. Martin
C - B. Wallace

Denver Nuggets
PG - C. Billups
SG - B. Gordon
SF - C. Anthony
PF - A. Harrington
C - Nene

Yea I like doing the detailed recaps. It would stay the same, instead of featured daily games it would be a few games a week. I like it like this, but I didn't know if people wanted the season to go by faster or not.

The Pistons did very good I believe. They got Forbes, a first rounder (~20th, but still) and K-Mart's expiring(?) for their 'prized' 2009 signees with their big and long contracts. Rebuilding all the way. (Y)

Yea, I think it works for both. I looked at Gordon and Villanueva, both of their potential grade are like A or A- which will turn out good for the Nuggets. Especially if they lose Melo. I hope Martin makes the Pistons competitive during this season. Him, Rip, improved T-Mac, Prince, and Big Ben in the playoffs? That would be sick! The East is weak enough for them to get there.

If the Nuggets don't trade Carmelo they could seriously challenge the Lakers for the Top Seed out west. Upset Amare let himself get hurt.

Lovin' the behind the scenes. (Y) Lol at Kenyon Martin wanting to be with Melo. Also looking forward to seeing what happens with Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo's plans to take over Boston.

As for the updates, it'd be best for you to speed them up later on in the season, but so far this is looking great.

Game Summary
The Chicago Bulls came into the came with an 0-1 record after losing three days before to the Thunder. They only lost by four point to Oklahoma City, but a loss is a loss and they came in hungry for a win. Derrick Rose would the lead the Bulls up against the new Detroit Pistons. Detroit came in with an 0-2 record, but the town was buzzing because they had brought in some new players. The Pistons got rid of disgruntled Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva in exchange for Kenyon Martin and Gary Forbes. People around the league knew that Kenyon Martin would have an impact on the game, but no on anticipated what was to happen in tonight's game.

Even with the the trade, this is a game that many people thought would be an easy one for Chicago to rebound from their previous loss to Oklahoma City. This Detroit team had other plans though and they were led by newcomer Kenyon Martin. Martin looked like a brand new player and was ready to bring this Pistons team together. Martin brought the team together and everyone was playing better with him on the team. The first quarter went by and everyone knew this would be a good game. Even with Martin playing unbelievably, Luol Deng wasn’t letting him runaway with the game. The Bulls had the lead, but come halftime the Pistons would take a five point lead.

Once the second half started, the Pistons appeared to still be back in the locker room. The Bulls came out much faster than them and Detroit showed no urgency what so ever. At the end of the third quarter the Pistons let a five point lead slip away and the Bulls were ahead by four. The Pistons surprised people by playing Richard Hamilton at the point in the end of the fourth over Rodney Stuckey. It was the right move though as the Pistons fought their way back into the game. It was nice seeing Richard Hamilton getting after it and shutting down Derrick Rose down the stretch. The Pistons could not stop Carlos Boozer however as the game stayed close. Back and forth should have been the title of this game. With 56.3 seconds left in the game, Kenyon Martin threw a dunk down on dome piece of Carlos Boozer. Kenyon Martin pumped his chest and the Bulls crowd went numb. The score was now 110-108, but the Bulls would fail to score and the Pistons had the ball. Richard Hamilton would be fouled and he would get two fouled shots. No one better to shoot these free throws the Hamilton right? He ended up only hitting one, still think he is the man for that situation? It wouldn’t matter as the Bulls went to Deng for the game tying three pointer and Tayshaun Prince would play the best defense of the night. I don’t know how Deng got the shot off on Prince, but it wouldn’t matter anyways as he missed everything and the game was over. Pistons beat the Bulls 111-108.

Game Summary
Both the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets were 0-2 coming into this game and were hoping to find themselves during this game. Denver is coming off a big trade that sent Kenyon Martin to Detroit and brought them Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. The Nuggets are also dealing with all of the ‘Melo Drama’. Right now people look at their current team and think with Gordon now, this is a scoring machine. Where is the defense though? That is something they need to find quick and as for the Rockets, they are just happy to be fully healthy at this point. Both team wanted to avoid an 0-3 start and one of these teams would earn their first win of the season.

It was a hard fought battle throughout the game. Back and forth the entire first half with the Nuggets having a two point advantage at halftime. Both team were getting everyone involved. By the end of the game every starter in the game would finish with double digit points. The Nuggets pulled away in the third quarter and held an eight point lead going into the fourth quarter. Kevin Martin spoke about going into the fourth quarter down by eight, “We knew we were down, but we were playing hard the whole game. We knew we could come back if we just kept to our game plan.” Martin and Aaron Brooks would take over and bring the Rockets within striking distance.

The Rockets would eventually take the lead with under two minuted to go in the game. Chauncey Billups would end up finding Al Harrington going to the basketball and the Nuggets would take a one point lead with 1:12 left in the game. The Rockets failed to score and the Nuggets went back down court. Ben Gordon would be found in the corner WIDE open for a three, but he would miss and the Rockets got the ball back with 42.3 seconds left. They would let the play clock run down and Kevin Martin would hit a huge three and the Rockets went up 114-116 with only 19.7 second left in the game. Carmelo Anthony demanded the ball and he would start with it at the top of the key. Anthony drove to the basketball and drew contact from Luis Scola. It wasn’t enough for a foul, but enough to alter the shot and Anthony missed the shot. Yao Ming would get the rebound and get fouled. Yao made both free throws and the rest is history. The good news for Denver is that Billups broke the team record with 26 assists.

Story of the Week

Injury Bug In the League
This year has been very strange with many serious injuries happening in the first week of the season. From a couple of broken wrists to a broken back(?). Many of these players that have been hurt have put their respective teams in a tough spot and scrambling for a replacement. Like Andrei Kirilenko of the Utah Jazz, most of these guys are starters. With Kirilenko gone for two weeks, the Jazz are turning to rookie small forward Gordon Hayward to fill the void. Hayward was a star at Butler in college, but many people think he is going to struggle here in the NBA. Then there is Thabo Sefolosha, who is the sixth man for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Well he was until he suffered a severe ankle sprain that could keep him out of action for a month. Here are some high profile starters that are going to be missing significant time due to injuries.

Boston Celtics - Kevin Garnett
Broken Wrist - 4 to 6 Weeks

Garnett is the heart and sould of the Celtics. He is the main energy source for Boston and they always seem to struggle without him. Lucky for Boston they overstocked on front court personnel, so they shouldn’t be too effected by this loss. The loss could actually be looked at as a good thing considering Kendrick Perkins was wanting to be traded because is loss in minutes. With Garnett gone, Perkins gets all those minutes back and he could became a happy camper again.
Hole Garnett left - Starting Power Forward
Replacement - Jermaine O’Neal

New York Knicks - Amare Stoudemire
Broken Wrist - 4 to 6 Weeks

New York fans were hoping Stoudemire could be the man to take them back to the playoffs. Instead he was cursed by the Knicks basketball gods and broke his wrist. This makes the Knicks the same team they were last year. Actually, they are worse because they don’t have a David Lee on this team. The Knicks who were already lacking depth in the front court had to go out and sign a free agent to fill the hole. That guy ended up being Sean Williams. Williams will come off the bench while Anthony Randolph and Ronny Turiaf start down low. Stoudemire’s last performance for the Knicks came in a win against the Celtics. In three quarters of play he had 21 points and 12 rebounds. In the Knicks first game without Stoudemire, they lost to the Trailblazers by eight points. Randolph, Turiaf, and Williams combined for 21 points and 7 rebounds. I think that the Knicks are going to really miss Stoudemire.
Hole Stoudemire left - Starting Center
Replacement - Ronny Turiaf

Atlanta Hawks - Josh Smith
Broken Back - 6 to 8 weeks

He is only going to miss two months after breaking his back? I thought you were done after breaking your back, but I’m guessing this is a slipped disc or something of the sort. Losing Smith is huge for Atlanta. He is there second best player and without him they lose that play making ability. He has a huge impact on both ends of the floor. Replacing him is going to be very difficult. He leaves a big hole on this team. With him being out, the Hawks are moving Patrick Ewing Jr. from starting small forward to the starting power forward position. Maurice Evans will take over the starting job at small forward. The Hawks have been in a big scramble to try and replace Smith and it is believed they will be making a trade to help the team out. Two months is too long to go without bringing in some kind of help.
Hole Smith left - Starting Power Forward
Replacement - Patrick Ewing Jr. (Maurice Evans also enters the starting lineup to fill Ewing Jr.’s spot at SF)

Rumors Around the League
Atlanta Hawks - Jamal Crawford
Rumors are swirling about Atlanta putting Crawford on the trading block. With Josh Smith out for the next two months, the Hawks need some big time help down low. Many people think that the Hawks are willing to part ways with Crawford in exchance for a couple players. Crawford has an expiring contract and it is believed some teams would like to take his contract in exchange for some long term contracts. Some teams that have been mentioned are Charlotte, Chicago, New Jersey, Houston, and Cleveland. Antwan Jamison of the Cleveland Cavaliers would like to play for a competitor and he is owed $28.44 million over the next two years. Cleveland would like to send him somewhere else to get paid. This trade seems very ideal for Atlanta and Cleveland, but some other teams hold some pieces too. Charlotte has Diaw who is losing minutes to Tyrus Thomas now and Houston has an over staffed small forward position. Patrick Ewing Jr. is currently filling in at power forward for Atlanta, which brings Maurice Evans into the starting lineup at small forward. If Atlanta decides they like having Ewing Jr. at the four because his style of play resembles Josh Smith’s than getting a player like Terrence Williams or Chase Buddinger would be an improvement over having Evans in the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see if Atlanta decides to pull the trigger or not.

Denver Nuggets - Carmelo Anthony
The ‘Melo Drama’ continues as everyone waits to see where he will go. Many people think a deal could be made sooner than later in New York. This is because the Knicks recently lost Amare Stoudemire to a broken wrist which could sideline him up to six weeks. The Knicks don’t appear to be able to handle their games without some sort of superstar to lead them. This team is basically the Knicks of last year now that Stoudemire is gone. If they want to still salvage their season, it would be wise of them to bring in Anthony ASAP.

Boston Celtics - Kendrick Perkins
With the Celtics losing Kevin Garnett, talks of trading Perkins have disappeared. Once Garnett comes back in about six weeks, expect these talks to get going again. Many team were showing interest in Perkins before the Celtics took him off the table. Perkins is one of the better defensive centers in the league and is known notoriously for being one of the few that can slow Dwight Howard down consistently.

I love the lighting adjustment on the pics. Adds nice depth to them :P

Interesting that Kenyon is now with Detroit. I'm pretty sure he got traded there in my one too (Y)

Wish Kwame was scoring more :( Same with T-Mac. Wish Vinsanity was scoring less :(

Redick's only got 1 'r' by the way  Wouldn't normally bother pointing it out, just for some reason I like his name spelt correctly :P
