Those two are head to head for the MVP award this year
Well,It's probably one of the most odd MVP frontrunners' list I've occured the last years, with only two teams having players in the Top 5. Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics are having the best records, are playing the best basketball till now ,and their players are playing great as well.
Well, the thing is that it's a really hard battle so far,and the 5 players are performing greatly so far. So,after a little prologue, here is the Top 10 list on Race To The MVP:
1.Derrick Rose-Chicago Bulls(20-3)
Stats:PPG:25.0-APG-10.0-RPG:2.3-SPG:2.1-BPG:0.1-FG%:57%-3P%:31%-FT%:78%
Comment:Derrick Rose is playing like a true leader for the Bulls so far. He's the top scorer in almost every game, and his crucial baskets have given Bulls several wins. He's getting better and better every year, and he's taken already a spot in the league's elite with his performances.Derrick Rose has matured as no one the last summer, and he's ready for a big challenge this year.
2.Rajon Rondo-Boston Celtics(19-7)
Stats:PPG:13.8-APG:10.8-RPG:5.7-SPG:2.6-BPG:0.0-FG%:54%-3PT%:21%-FT%:58%
Comment:Rajon Rondo came up strong this season and the Celtics got even stronger. He's averaging a double-double per game, being league's leader in assists, helping his teammates greatly each time.
3.Paul Pierce-Boston Celtics(19-7)
Stats:PPG:21-APG:1.3-RPG:4.9-SPG1.5-BPG:0.3-FG%:51%-3PT%:44%-FT%:91%
Comment:Despite his age,the Truth performs like a solid MVP candidate. He's scoring ,he's hustling, and all Celtics' crucial shots are taken by him. He's the captain on and of the court and he's valuable for his teammates.Boston really copes with clutch situations, and Pierce is the main reason.
4.Carlos Boozer-Chicago Bulls(20-3)
Stats:PPG:11-APG:2.6-RPG:6.6-SPG:1.2-BPG:0.7-FG%:61%-3PT%:00%-FT%:63%
Comments:Chicago is Rose's team.We all know that. But Rose can't do it all by his own. That was clear last year. Some might say Rose wasn't ready yet.But even with Rose playing like this, without Boozer's effort on the offense Bulls wouldn't have been the Top Eastern team so far.Boozer is doing the little things, and lately,he stepped up his game and got dominant. This duo is really amazing so far.
5.Shaquille O'Neal-Boston Celtics(19-7)
Stats:PPG:14.1-APG:0.8-RPG:6.6-SPG:0.0-BPG:1.3-FG%:50%-3PT%:00%-FT%:63%
Comments:The Big Shamrock is back.Well,I don't know why he was picked so high in the MVP list from the NBA crew, but O'Neal is really having a great season, which will be probably his last. He's a force on the paint and really found his old form. One of a kind, passionate, hustling on every play despite his age (and his weight),Shaq is really the cornerstone of Celtics' inside game,as Rondo is on the backcourt.
6.Kevin Durant-Oklahoma City Thunder(13-6)
Stats:PPG:33.5-APG:1.6-RPG:10.2-SPG:1.8-BPG:1.6-FG%:48%-3PT%:34%-FT%:93%
Comments:The league's leader in scoring,Kevin Durant, posts some great numbers so far.Averaging a double-double and being one man show in his team,Kevin Durant will be one of the certain candidates for the MVP award. He's not higher on the list because he lacks on clutch situations. We all expect him to be higher on the next months, and his battles with Rose are expected by all.
7.Kobe Bryant-Los Angeles Lakers(13-7)
Stats:PPG:31.4-APG:3.9-RPG:3.6-SPG:2.3-BPG:0.4-FG%:50%-3PT%:35%-FT%:85%
Comments:Kobe is the well known Kobe. He's clutch,he's Lakers' leader and he's every year expected to be one of the top on the Race to the MVP award. He's playing well so far,his averages are really high, but Lakers had a really mediocre start and that's why he's not higher.Los Angeles is starting to win the last 2 weeks though, and Kobe is expected to rise on the list.
8.LeBron James-Miami Heat(13-5)
Stats:PPG:25.7-APG:6.6-RPG:6.8-SPG:2.2-BPG:1.1-FG%:49%-3PT%:32%-FT%:79%
Comments:Wade is the main face in Miami, because of the championship and all those years of dedication. But LeBron is clearly the top performer so far and his presence (or absence) is important for the Heat.Along with Wade(and Bosh) ,LeBron raised the level of the Heat, and they have a nice 15-3 record.James' numbers are not the same as when in Cleveland, but as we said, his presence is really important for the team.
9.Amar'e Stoudemire-New York Knicks(11-10)
Stats:PPG:29.0-APG:1.0-RPG:11.2-SPG:0.2-BPG:1.3-FG%:57%-3PT%:00%-FT%:78%
Comments:The switch of scenery really helped Amar'e to step up his game.Knicks are back on winning record now after many years and their playoff hopes are more than ever.Amar'e is the reason for this improvement.High scoring games, leadership and work is Amar'e characteristics on his new start with the Knicks, and he only gets better game after game.
10.Carmelo Anthony-Denver Nuggets(15-10)
Stats:PPG:24.6-APG:1.8-RPG:8.4-SPG:1.0-BPG:0.1-FG%:49%-3PT%:33%-FT%:77%
Comments:Carmelo Anthony had an amazing start of the season. His red hot Nuggets cruised for an 8-2 start, the best of the league, and he was the main reason for it.December might not have been a heck of a month for them, but Carmelo is still hot. He's on top form, and on the past 3 weeks,he scored only once below 20 points,on the loss against the Heat.Despite the rumors of New Jersey pursuiting him and that a deal can be done,Melo remains untouched and solid this year too.

NEW YORK-Well, Derrick Rose might be the leader in the Race to the MVP Award, but this is not reflected in the All-Star votes so far. The Bulls' Point Guard is currently third on the eastern conference, but still has enough time to make it to the starting squad.
Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James of the Miami Heat lead the two conferences in voting, while Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo are the second prefers in each conference.
On the West,Kobe Bryant takes the first place on the guards' ballot with Deron Williams following by a safe margin. Carmelo Anthony and Tim Duncan are currently atop of the West' forwards, but Kevin Durant is only 16,000 votes behind Mr.Fundamental in a really tough voting battle. On the Centers,Yao Ming and Al Jefferson lead, with Yao having a close lead over Jazz's Center.
On the East,Rajon Rondo and Dwayne Wade are on the first two places of the Guards' list.Derrick Rose is close on the 3rd place, being a surprise not voted so much thus far.LeBron James and Amar'e Stoudamire lead the Forwards with a huge margin over the third Andre Iguodala. On the Centers, the Superman,Dwight Howard is the leader, with Brook Lopez surprisingly being on his pursuit.

Bulls - Celtics Notebook
THE FACTS:Derrick Rose, despite having serious foul troubles from the first half, scored 20 points, 10 in the last 5 minutes of the match, and added 4 assists as well,to lead the Bulls to the win against the second in the East Boston Celtics.Carlos Boozer, with 16 points, Allen Iverson with 14 and Kyle Korver with 14 points as well ,formed a great supporting trio for the Bulls, showing up on important moments on the whole game, when D-Rose was unable to help.
For the Celtics,Paul Pierce had 21 points ,6 assists and 4 steals, doing his best, but on the dying momentsof the match,he was trying alone.
THE STAT: The Bulls outrebounded the Celtics 28-15.This provided them with many second chances on offense, while gave them security on defense.
HOT: Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver.Boozer was a perfect 7-7 on the match getting great looks every time.He also was 2-2 from the FT line. Korver had an amazing night behind the 3 point line. He was 4-5 for 3,finishing with 14 points wiht 5-6 FGs.
NOT: Bulls' ball handling. Chicago commited 20 turnovers, giving to the Celtics many opportunities for fast break, and keeping them on the game.
TURNING POINT:With 2 minutes on the 4th and the game tied,Ray Allen stole the ball from a bad pass by Iverson and got on the fastbreak.Derrick Rose caught him up,got the two-handed block and the ball as well.Bulls then got on a 10-3 run to get the game out of reach.
QUOTABLE: "He's our MVP.That's why he might be absent all the game, and in 5 minutes he can win it for us"
--Joakim Noah on Derrick Rose's stellar 4th quarter performance
QUOTABLE II: "We did everything we could, but they were so passionate and so well positioned that we couldn't beat them today"
--Kevin Garnett
GOOD MOVE: Getting the ball away from Ray Allen. Bulls managed to close Ray Allen and don't let him get the passes and the open spots he wanted. As a result,he scored only 5 points in the game.
UP NEXT:January 10,vs Golden State WarriorsFINAL SCORE:Chicago Bulls - Boston Celtics 89-83

D-Rose with the dunk of the night!!
Booze was getting that kind of looks all game!
Deng on a powerfull two handed dunk!
A.I. might be old,but with performances like this,he still has everyone's respect!
No,you're still in 2011,and yes, this is Paul Pierce on a retro moment of himself!!
The Big Shamrock was a constant trouble for the Bulls' Centers...

What is weird about Rose scoring 20 points? Were they too little? If so that was because of foul troubles. He had 4 in the 1st half,so I couldn't play him at all at the 3rd and the early minutes of the 4th.
