Coming soon...!

Postby BD1899 on Sat Nov 06, 2010 5:29 am

Hello NLSC! Long time reader, first time poster. I've been reading a lot of the Association stories around here and got an unique idea for one of my own. I'm not going to reveal what team I'm using yet to build up the suspense, but let's just say its going to take some clever story telling to get this all to make sense. :)

Association Settings:

Team: Coming Soon
Game: NBA 2K11 for PC

Season: 82 Games (I'll probably alternate between simming and playing the games)
Play D-League Games: Off
Team Chemistry: Off
Player Roles: Off
Progressive Fatigue: Off
Trade Override: Off
Allow CPU Trades: On
Preseason Games: On

Sim Length: 12 Minutes
Game Length: 8 Minutes
Playoffs: 7-7-7-7
Difficulty: Pro/All-Star

Game Sliders: Default
Rosters: Default

I'm using default Game Sliders and Rosters, but if anyone has any suggestions for me to use, I'll be sure to try them.

Prologue - Missing in Action:

A man in a dark suit is walking through a busy city. He feels the vibration of his cell phone and
begins fumbling in his pocket to find it. He finally manages to get it out of his pocket and answers the phone.
On the other side is a man trying to desperately catch his breath, obviously shaken up by something.

"What do you mean he's missing!?"
"I-I-I've been calling his office and his home for a week and he never called back! I just
got a phone call from his wife and according to her he's been missing for over a week!"
"Look, just calm down and take a few deep breaths. Have you talked to...
"He's gone too! This is all a big mess! The NBA season starts in 3 days and we have no GM or Owner!"
"You can't be serious! He's gone too!? What are we going to do!? I just got this job as head coach a few weeks ago and now we might not even have a team!"

The man on the other side of the phone went silent for a few seconds trying to regain his composure. The man in the dark suit decided to break the silence.

"Have you talked to David Stern about any of this?"
"Not yet. I have no idea what the procedure for this situation is, if there is one. All I know is if we don't get this straightened out, this city might not have a team this year..."

To be continued...

Dan Gilbert, Chris Gant Missing

Image

October 23, 2010, Cleveland (AP) - In a shocking turn of events, both Cleveland General Manager Chris Gant and Cleveland Owner Daniel Gilbert have gone missing. Both Gilbert and Gant have been reportedly missing for a week. Newly appointed Cavalier coach Byron Scott was the first to confirm the story as true.

"This is one of the strangest things to ever happen to the NBA and this organization. I sympathize with the families of both men but I feel that we still need to move forward for the sake of this organization. If we don't find a temporary replacement for these two while the police do their work, the city of Cleveland won't have an NBA team this season."

David Stern has yet to confirm whether a team needs a GM and Owner to be able to participate in an NBA season.

I will be the first to welcome you and warn you I will not be hearing or reading any crap about Rajon Rondo or his Celtic buddies. Also, I read this story on the proviso the Lakers win, Hova has already lost a loyal follower by crossing that line.

Good Luck :)

Chapter 1 - The Night Before

It's about 2:00 in the morning. A man pulls up in front of his house and drunkenly staggers out of his car towards the house. He finally makes it to his house, nearly tripping over the doorstep. He slowly takes out his keys to the house and clumsily unlocks the door. He opens the door, turns on the lights of his living room, and proceeds to dial a number on his cell phone. The phone rang for about 30 seconds before someone on the other side finally picked up.

"Hello?"
The man on the other side of the phone was both sleepy and aggravated with the person on the other side of the phone. He was sleeping prior to the phone call, and was obviously not to happy to be woken up at this time of night.
"Hello, Mark? It's me, Dan."
"Dan? Dan who?"
Dan quickly got aggressive in his tone of voice.
"What do you mean Dan who!? Dan Gilbert! Who else!"
"*sigh* Dan, why do you keep calling me? This is the fifth time that you've called me this week. Can't you call back at a normal time for a change?"
"Look Mark, I need someone to talk to. Someone who's been with the franchise as long as you have. I need some advice."
"What are you talking about!? I don't work for the Cav's organization!? I haven't since I've been a player!"
"Does it matter?"
"*sigh* No, I guess it doesn't if you put it that way. Can you at least tell me why you're calling at 2 o'clock in the morning?"
"I couldn't have called any earlier. The bar I was at didn't have a working phone so I had..."
"Wait a minute. Bar? Dan, don't tell you were drinking and driving AGAIN!"
"...Yea, so? What's your point?"
"My point is if you hit someone and kill them, you'll be in more trouble than anything LeBron has caused you."
"That's the problem."
"Who? LeBron? Just forget about him, Dan. He left, now you should move on."

Dan Gilbert's voice began to get noticeably sadder.
"Don't you see, Mark? It's hopeless! It all started with that stupid letter! I don't think I'll ever live that down!"
"You should have used Times New Roman..."
"You think? Nobody ever asks my side of the story! Nobody would believe that one of my kids deleted half of my fonts off of Microsoft Office and I had to make due with what I had!
"Is that the truth?"
"No, but if it was they wouldn't believe me!"
"Dan, its late. Maybe you should just go to bed and talk to me when your sober..."
Dan Gilbert seemed to completely ignore his suggestion. His voice once again got angry in tone.
"You know what! You know who's fault this is! It's all Danny Ferry's fault!"
"Ferry doesn't work for you anymore, Dan. He left before you sent out that letter.'
"I don't care! This is all his fault! He's just as much a coward as the self-proclaimed king was! Next time I catch him in his GM office, I'm going to show him what happens to cowards!
"Dan, calm down! Your making a big deal out of nothing. Hello, Dan? You there?
Just then, Mark Price was answered with a loud dial tone. He mutter a few curses under his breath before he hung up the phone and headed back to bed.

David Stern answers questions; Cavs need GM before season opener begins.

Image

October 24, 2010, Cleveland (AP) - After the strange disappearance of both Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and General Manager Chris Gant, the question of whether a team could go a season without both a GM and an owner were posed to David Stern. Today, David Stern announced his decision of the situation.

"As far as I know, a team can go without an owner for an entire season. I can't say the same about the general manager position though. Without a general manager, a team is ineligible to take place in the NBA season and will be forced to give up their players in a dispersal draft."

The Cleveland Cavalier franchise has yet to determine who will be their general manager for the 2010/11 NBA season, and with the NBA season opener only two days away, things are looking grim for the franchise.

Thanks! As far as the Celtics go, I doubt I'll mention them during the course of this Association, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.
