Gay Twists Ankle During Sixers Game

Milwaukee, WI - After talking with Milwaukee Bucks trainer Wes Chambers he concluded that the pain coming from Rudy Gay's leg area was an ankle sprain.

They did some tests after flying back home from their 109-97 win over the Sixers in Philadelphia.

During the game Gay was seen to have landed on his ankle awkwardly after going for a rebound. He seemed shaken up but continued to play the game with no obvious signs of injury.

Rudy Gay will miss approximately 4-5 days with this ankle sprain, which might sideline him for upcoming games against New York and the Los Angeles Clippers, depending on what coach Scott Skiles and Chambers agree to do.

No matter what the rest of the Bucks must play even harder to make up for Gay's presence.

Redd Lights Up Garden With 56 in Win

New York, NY - Michael Redd should be proud. He had a special night at Madison Square Garden — and he unleashed one of the biggest games the present building has seen with a 56-point performance.

Redd teased and pleased a sold-out crowd that took turns booing him and saluting him with "MVP!'' chants during an electrifying performance. He passed Michael Jordan's opponent record of 55 points and the Milwaukee Bucks looked plenty potent without Rudy Gay at 100 percent in a 128-117 victory over the New York Knicks on Friday night.

Redd, who posted the second highest-scoring game in the league this season behind his own 80 points, left to a loud ovation after the 3rd 50+ point game this season, and only 28 games in.

Marcus Camby added 12 points and 15 rebounds in the Bucks' first game since Gay's injury, their starting small forward, for 4 to 5 days with a sprained ankle. They'll be fine without him if Redd plays the way he did Monday, going 22 of 43 from the field with an array of tough jumpers and powerful drives to the basket. He made all 6 of his free throws.

"He was on fire from the start and finished the game almost the same way,'' director and Knick fan Spike Lee said. "That was a remarkable performance.''

Redd started the game on fire indeed. He scored 19 first quarter points, going 8-14 from the field which included 3-5 from downtown and helped his team into a 11-3 run early in the game. This was not enough though as New York used 8 points from Larry Hughes to help secure a lead at the end of the quarter, 29-27.

However Redd would go quiet in the second quarter. As his point production went down, he switched his focus to getting his teammates involved, something Redd has seen to be doing better throughout this season. He was responsible for 20 of his teams 30 points in the second quarter, but New York's run-and-gun offensive using coach Mike D'Antoni principles kept themselves in front going into halftime, 60-57.

The Bucks would finally pull away form New York in the third quarter, using points and defense from role players to build a lead. This "bench" line-up accounted for 16 points in this quarter and a 11-2 run which gave them a comforable lead for the remainder of the game.

Milwaukee's new mindset of defense was put on them by new coach Scott Skiles, and has been the reason for their success this season. They forced the Knicks to only 43 percent from the field, but still allowed them to score 46 field goals and hit 14 three-pointers. If their defense wasn't enough however, Milwaukee has been now known to outscore their opponents to make up for poor defense, and hey, it has worked so far.

Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Bucks suffered a heartbreaking loss at home after giving up a 19-point lead mid-way through the third quarter, losing 110-108.

Milwaukee started the game well and built up a 15-point lead at halftime, 58-45, thanks to points and assists from Michael Redd and Chauncey Billups.
This lead grew to the 19-point lead they eventually gave up at 4:55 left in the third quarter. After a time-out by the Clippers they finally played the kind of basketball that they have been playing this season with great success. They outsmarted the Milwaukee defense and scored 38 points total in the third quarter, 11 less then the Bucks. Then in the fourth they started to rain down three-pointers until the game was within reach, and they grabbed it. Finally with 2:08 remaining in the game they took a 102-96 lead, and assumed the game was over. No. Michael Redd came down the floor and drilled a three-pointer with no hesitation, and then stole a bad pass from Kevin Martin and whipped it ahead to Marcus Camby for the dunk. 102-101 Los Angeles. The Bucks made a defensive stop, and Redd made a drive to the basket and scored a lay-up. The game went back and forth for the rest of the game, until the Bucks made another key defensive stop, and scored. 108-105 Milwaukee. The Clippers came back with a bucket from Zach Randolph. Redd called an isolation, drove to the basket and... missed. The Clippers called timeout. 5.3 second to go. The inbound went to Baron Davis. He dribbled to the front of the basket with Billups all over him, then with no second thought he pulled up and shot a 30-foot three-point attempt as time expired... and knocked it down. Clippers win.

Gay Recovers From Ankle Injury

Jazz Dominate Boards in Convincing Win Over Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI - Three days after a tough loss against the Clippers the Milwaukee Bucks faced the Utah Jazz... and lost 116-106. They were out-rebounded 43-24.

The Jazz opened up the game well, with Carlos Boozer scoring 12 of his 35 points in the first quarter which helped the Jazz build a 11-point lead going into the second quarter, 36-25. The Bucks came back though, exciting their home crowed as they clawed their way back using defense, limiting Utah to only 18 points in the quarter. Rudy Gay, who recently recovered from an ankle injury scored 14 of his 29 points in the quarter to help Milwaukee come back from the deficit, and by halftime were only down 3, 54-51. But the Jazz were too good. With help from Ronny Brewer's 11 third quarter points and Luther Head's impressive fourth quarter performance the Jazz put themselves back into command, and never gave Milwaukee any chance of coming back by keeping their lead over 7 points.

Bucks Use Defense to Beat Pistons

Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Bucks forced the Detroit Pistons to only 27% from the field and only 20 field goals in the entire game to get the win, 93-60.

The Bucks started the game with a 14-4 run, and never looked back. Michael Redd scored 15 points on 6-11 shooting in the first quarter as well a 3 assists to create a 27-10 first quarter scoreline. Then Milwaukee's tough defense didn't allow Detroit to score more then 20 points in total for any of the quarters, but they themselves did not score less then 20 points in any of the quarters, which gave them the win.

Bucks Dominate Spurs

San Antonio, TX - The Milwaukee Bucks beat the San Antonio Spurs convincingly by 21 points, 111-90.

The game started with San Antonio playing well behind their home crowd. Thanks to points from Manu Ginobili, including a baseline three-pointer, and Tim Duncan's inside effectiveness the Spurs were able to grab a lead to finish the quarter, 24-19. But Ginobili would go cold and Tim Duncan would get picked up with a few quick fouls and Milwaukee, after a few days rest used impressive runs throughout the second and third quarters to pull away and create a huge gap between them and their opponents. This is mostly because of the resurgence of Michael Redd, who along with 40 points dished 5 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds. Most of his points came in the second and third quarters, and he did not play any of the final quarter.

Bucks Lose New Years Eve Contest to Houston

Houston, TX - The Houston Rockets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks on New Years Eve at home by using an effective fourth quarter and winning 117-112.

Most of the game was really close and neither teams were able to pull away from each other, both teams having no more then 6 point leads until the fourth quarter. Off the bench for Milwaukee, Josh McRoberts was able to make in impact inside, scoring 8 points.Both Michael Redd and Rudy Gay scored well also. The Rockets had help from Yao Ming inside and Tracy McGrady outside to score their points. Then in the fourth quarter, with the game tied at 86 Houston were able to used a series of three-pointers and help the Bucks scoreless for three minutes. They took a 106-95 lead with about three-and-a-half minutes to go. However Michael Redd was not going to give up so easily. He himself went on a 7-0 run including a three pointer to narrow the deficit to 113-110. However Redd would miss the game-tying three and Ron Artest hit a jumper to seal the game for the Rockets.

Billups Hits Game Winning Three-Pointer to Push Milwaukee Past Charlotte

Milwaukee, WI - Chauncey Billups pumped his fist, the crowd was going wild and the bench was ecstatic. This is the atmosphere you get after one of the players on your home team hits a three-pointer that wins them the game. This is what happened when Billups hit a three-pointer with 3.9 seconds to go, and Charlotte having no time-outs. D.J. Augustin's three-quarter court attempted was drowned by the noise in the Bradley Center.

After encountering a 15-point deficit mid-way through the third quarter and then never getting to within 6 of a lead the Bucks finally showed some energy and ended the quarter with a 7-2 run closing the gap to 5, 92-87.

Then, with about seven-and-a-half minutes to go coach Scott Skiles employed one of Milwaukee's most effective play: the full-court press. It worked, to some extent, but Charlotte's offense was overpowering and the Bucks could not find the solution to their problem. Finally, their answer came from Michael Redd, who scored back-to-back three-pointers to give Milwaukee a 117-116 lead. The Bobcats went to their offensive weapon, Emeka Okafor, and he delivered. He hit a fade-away post jumpshot to give his team a one-point lead. Then on the other end, Redd hit a clutch mid-range jumper to retake the lead, and after a turnover by Charlotte and a lay-up by Redd, Milwaukee built up a three-point, 121-118 lead. Game over? No way. D.J. Augustin, filling in for Raymond Felton who fouled out, drove to the basket on Billups, drew the foul, and made the shot. Tie game. 19.8 seconds to go, Bucks possession. Billups ran down the clock until their was only 9 ticks remaining. He passed to to Rudy Gay... to only have it stolen by Vladamir Radmanovic! But Gay didn't give up; he stole it back from Radmanovic a second later and passed it to a wide open Billups at the three-pointer with Augustin on the wrong side of him, and you know the rest.

The game was pretty much similar to the final quarter. Charlotte would give themselves a nice lead, then Milwaukee would turn it up, go on a run, and close the gap. Not a smart strategy, but you can't argue with the results.

The first quarter started with the Bobcats opening up the game with a 11-3 lead, the 3 points coming from Michael Redd's three-pointer; he had two in the quarter. This run was because of points from Okafor and Jason Terry, a huge factor throughout the game. The Bobcats held the Bucks back, but a late 8-2 run to end the quarter led by Rudy Gay closed the gap to 5, 33-28.

Then in the second quarter, the game got closer. Neither team was ever far away from the other, and the scoring went back and forth, as well as the defense. No huge contributors in this quarter, but some nice plays by Raymond Felton and Ramon Sessions stood up from others. The quarter ended with the Bobcats up, 55-53.

Michael Redd had a spectacular game, scoring 47 points, dishing 6 assists and grabbing 4 rebounds. He shot an impressive 18-30 from the field and 5-10 from downtown. Rudy Gay played second fiddle, scoring 21 points, and had 4 assists and 4 rebounds, shooting 8-12 from the field and hitting 3 of 6 three-pointers. Double-doubles came from Chauncey Billups (14 points, 13 assists) and Marcus Camby (12 points, 10 rebounds). For Charlotte, Emeka Okafor had the team high of 29 points, and had 6 steals, but only managed 2 rebounds. Raymond Felton had 20 points and 14 assists, and Jason Terry had 26 points.

Redd's Clutch Free-Throws Wins Game For Milwaukee

Charlotte, NC - Michael Redd's two free-throws with 1.9 seconds remaining in the game gave Milwaukee the 124-123 lead over the Charlotte Bobcats which eventually won them the game.

This game was similar to the game played yesterday between these two teams, played in Milwaukee, where the Bucks also pulled out a close win because of a clutch three-pointer by Chauncey Billups.

The Bobcats started the game well and continued this type of play throughout the first half. They played excellent defense and forced the Bucks to commit 13 turnovers in the first half, consequentially creating a deficit of 14 points at the half and then that growing to as much as a 21-point deficit. Also, good offense from Jason Terry and Vladamir Radmanovic boosted Charlotte's play. Finally mid-way through the third quarter Milwaukee started to adjust to the Bobcats offense, play better defense and ultimately give themselves a chance to win going into the fourth quarter. Points came from Michael Redd and Rudy Gay, and the Bucks were able to narrow the lead down to 4. Then in the fourth quarter, with their starters depleted of energy because of this being the second of a back-to-back game, none other then sixth man for the Bucks Ramon Sessions stood out. Scoring 27 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter he was able to bring the game back from the dead, and tied it. The game continued with both teams taking 1-2 point leads until Emeka Okafor hit a low-post jumpshot to give Charlotte a 123-122 lead with 2.9 seconds to go in the game. After a Milwaukee timeout they inbounded it to sharp-shooter and team captain Michael Redd for a mid-range jumper... and was fouled by Jason Terry in the act of shooting. He missed the shot, but sank the two free-throws to give his team the edge needed to win.

Bucks Cruise Past Raptors

Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Bucks limited the Toronto Raptors to under 20 points in the final three quarters to cruise past them, 96-62.

After a close first quarter which ended in a tie at 22 the Milwaukee Bucks used a 27-point second quarter to pull away from the Raptors, holding them to only 17 points. Milwaukee continued this tough defense, and forced Toronto to shoot 33% from the field, and only connecting on 27 of their 81 shots. Milwaukee on the other hand shot a much higher 46% and hit 38 of 82 shots. Milwaukee also had 8 three-point makes compared to the Raptors 1. Other then that Toronto had 4 more turnovers then the Bucks and 4 less assists, but outrebounded them by 6.

Milwaukee, WI - The Philadelphia 76ers held off a fourth quarter run by Milwaukee Bucks to win 96-94

The Sixers started the game ahead and never looked back. They were ahead in the first quarter 26-20, and continued to outscore Milwaukee. Andre Iguodala played well in the first half scoring 3 from 6 from the field. Philadelphia had 6 players in double figures for scoring, compared to Milwaukee's 4. In the fourth quarter, with the team down 8 points, the starters looked to role players Charlie Bell and Joe Alexander for production, and found it. They ignited a 10-2 run which closed the gap to 1. However Elton Brand would counter this run, and the team would use good ball movement to fight off Milwaukee in the end.

Bucks Trade Bell for Hornets' Butler

Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Hornets have today agreed to a trade sending 6ft 3" Charlie Bell to New Orleans for 6ft 7" Rasual Butler.

Charlie Bell was rumored to be put on the trading block at the start of the month, and possible offers came from the Lakers, Mavericks, and other teams. The reason is still unknown, but it is probably because Bell was unhappy with his role on the team, featuring Michael Redd, Chauncey Billups and Ramon Sessions in the same position as him. He was dominated at the shooting guard position because of his size and is not a strong ball-handler which makes it difficult at the point guard spot.

Bell said GM Jeremy Mason asked for his opinion for where he wanted to go, and New Orleans was one of the places he mentioned.

"New Orleans is a good team and I think playing with Chris Paul will greatly benefit me as he did with other players around him. I think this team will go far this season and I want to help with that," Bell said to reporters.

However, Bell will be in quite the same role as he was in Milwaukee. New Orleans recently traded Tyson Chandler to Charlotte for Jason Terry, giving them their starting shooting guard. If he becomes upset though his contract expires this season anyway.

Milwaukee was in the market for a pure-shooter, and they tried to pursue players such as Kyle Korver and Peja Stojakovic but did not want to hurt their core group and those players expected roles they weren't going to get. Butler is also capable of playing at the small forward position, not pressuring coach Scott Skiles to take captain Michael Redd out of the game too quickly.

"I think Butler is a perfect addition to this team. His shooting ability off the bench as well as his energy will help considerably when needed. Hopefully he will be happy enough to come back in the off-season," Buck GM Jeremy Mason said, overjoyed.

Both players will keep their same numbers of #42 and #45.
