All Star Weekend Contest Details

Choose One Player from each event (rookie sophomore game, all star game, slam dunk contest, 3 point shootout) as the player you think would win/get mvp honors

Slam Dunk Contest: 5 points
3 Point Shootout: 5 points - CANCELLED DUE TO CRASHES
Rookie Sophomore Game: 10 points
All Star Game: 10 points
If all correct: Bonus 10 points

Start guessing :D

EDIT: I have no idea why but the 3 point contest causes my game to crash, that would be canceled out sorry...and no recaps would be made, it would just be simmed

entries valid guys, good luck :)

C-77 sorry but there is no 3 point contest due to crashes, see above

anubisak thanks, i also have a contest (this just adds onto it) which involves fans (you guys) to vote for various players for different stats in games, the next games that would be done are the playoffs (which seems likely for my team right now :D ) so stay tuned! hope you join in as well :)

Rookies Rallied Late, but Sophomores Prevailed in closing seconds
Image
Yi Jianlian had a monstrous dunk on two rookies with 23.7 seconds left to ice the game for the Sophomore Allstars, winning 120-117 in a thrilling game on Friday Night here in Phoenix; Yi led the Sophomore Team with 31 points and 11 rebounds to take home the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge Most Valuable Player trophy.

Rookie Derrick Rose led the rookies with 18 points and 12 assists, followed closely by OJ Mayo's game leading 36 point performance and Beasley's 13 points, 18 rebounds, and made a big run in the 3rd quarter after trailing by as many as 29 at the half to tie the game in the 4th, but it was not enough as they could not stop the 7 foot New Jersey Net Yi Jianlian from dunking the game winner on their heads.

It was a high scoring game, and nobody was really playing any defense, besides rookie Greg Oden, who had 5 blocks in 18 minutes of play, 2 of which were on last year's rookie of the year Kevin Durant, whom was picked AFTER Oden in last year's draft, Oden missed an opportunity to compete with Durant for the Rookie of the Year honors due to microfracture surgery, and took his chance to remind Durant of that fact on Friday Night.

Gerald Green Is Slam Dunk Champ, Again
After One Year away from the title, Gerald Green has returned and captured it once again, with a thrilling showdown against the former back to back Slam Dunk Champion Jason Richardson in the final round. After Easily knocking out newcomers Horford and Wright with 2 perfect dunks each, both tried to do the impossible of the impossibles, having to resort to their replacement dunks, and in the end, the 2 time champ came up short against the young and athletic Green, and lost the chance for a 3rd title by a mere 4 points.

James Wins 3rd All Star Game MVP Award After Spectacular Performance
Image
Lebron James had an unreal, near quadruple double performance with 34 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 8 steals, and 2 blocks as he led the Eastern Conference All Stars to a 2 point win over the Western All Stars, with a one handed throwdown with 2.4 seconds left on the clock, winning the game for the East, 150 to 148.

The East had led by as many as 37 before Kobe Bryant turned his game on and hit 7 straight 3 pointers to rally the West back, and with help from Allen Iverson, who ended the game with 27 points, they eventually tied the game with 11 seconds to go in the 4th, that was when James made his move and sealed the game away for good.

The Home Town Representative, Amare Stoudemire, had 15 points and 6 rebounds in 21 minutes of play, and miraculously went 2 of 2 from the three point line, the crowd were on their feet every time he had the ball, cheering their star on. Last year's dunk champ Dwight "Superman" Howard decided to not participate in the dunk contest on Saturday Night, and he made up for it by delivering another Superman Dunk, this time, it was in the game, which was far more impressive then it was during the dunk contest, minus the cape.

well, since Alonzo would not accept a minimum offer, i had to sign Brown, he's more versatile anyways.

Just a quick update, i am now locked in the playoffs after crossing the 50 win barrier :D Playoffs Preview Coming As Soon as i finish the season!!

Assist: Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs (9.9)
Steal: Yuta Tabuse, Charlotte Bobcats (2.27)
Block: Roy Hibbert, Indiana Pacers (3.17)

Playoffs Preview
Image

Dallas (1) vs Houston (8)
Regular Season Matchup: Dallas Leads 3-1
ESPN Prediction: Mavericks win 4-1
Notes: Dallas has Dirk, 64 wins, Houston has the T-Mac Curse, enough said...

Denver (4) vs LA Clippers (5)
Regular Season Matchup: Clippers Leads 3-1
ESPN Prediction: Clippers win 4-3
Notes: Denver's Season is boosted by Iverson's hunger for a championship, and boosted by his MVP caliber stats (Iverson is 5th on R2MVP) Denver would take Baron and the Clippers to game 7, but Defense is the key to victory in a playoffs series, Clippers would come up on top

Golden State (3) vs LA Lakers (6)
Regular Season Matchup: Golden State Leads 3-1
ESPN Prediction: Lakers Win 4-1
Notes: After a terrible start, the talented Lakers made a couple of trades, including trading away Ariza for Dudley and Aiexis from Charlotte, Kobe then exploded after the All Star Weekend, got himself all the way back in the top 5 in R2MVP (2nd behind Lebron James Currently), Pau Recovered from his injury, Lamar is playing well, Lakers look to bounce back strong here and own the Warriors

Phoenix (2) vs New Orleans (7)
Regular Season Matchup: Phoenix Leads 3-1
ESPN Prediction: Phoenix Win 4-2
Notes: CP3 isnt as good as last year, but still holds averages of 23/8, thats same as Nash, the X factor is Amare, who had a great season with averages of 25/10. with Tyson and West having a sub-par season. the Suns should be able to take control of the series

Charlotte (1) vs Orlando (8)
Regular Season Matchup: Tied at 2-2
ESPN Prediction: Charlotte Win 4-2
Notes: Playoffs should not be a problem for the Bobcats as they have players that has had a lot of playoff successes such as Shaq, Ariza, Snow, and the recently signed PJ Brown, Dwight and Lewis would be a problem for Shaq and Beasley but the Bobcats Point Guard Yuta Tabuse should be able to breakthrough these barriers with his court awareness ability and lead the team with tough defense as well.

Detroit (4) vs Washington (5)
Regular Season Matchup: Detroit Leads 2-1
ESPN Prediction: Detroit wins 4-2
Notes: Arenas would be a big issue for the Pistons, but they are a proven playoff team and defeating the Wizards would not be a problem at all

Boston (3) vs Philadelphia (6)
Regular Season Matchup: Tied 1-1
ESPN Prediction: Boston wins 4-0
Notes: Boston, like the Lakers, had a bad start but they were able to bounce back, they should be able to sweep the 76ers in this series as they look to defend their championship

Cleveland (2) vs Miami (7)
Regular Season Matchup: Cleveland Leads 2-1
ESPN Prediction: Cleveland Wins 4-1
Notes: Emeka Okafor, who was acquired from the Bobcats mid-season, would be a defensive threat towards everyone on the Cavs team besides the leading MVP candidate Lebron James, but besides D-Wade, nothing would get through the Cavs defense either, Lebron vs Wade, i'll take the former over the latter on any given day...

J-Rich and Bobcats blows by Orlando in Game 1 with stellar defense
Image

It has always been said that "Defense wins championships", and Larry Brown made sure his players understood that in the Bobcat's debut Playoff game at home against the Orlando Magic, as they overcame a slow start to win by 23 at the end of the game, holding the Magic down to just 72 points, including a game low 11 points in the 4th quarter, where the Bobcats played intensive defense all over the floor until the last 2 minutes, when the starters retreated to the bench and garbage time started.
"We just wanted to come out and play strong, we know that this game is big, it's the franchise's first ever playoff game, and for a lot of the younger guys, it's their first time on a big stage, I've only been here 11 games in my whole career myself, so we just want to come out strong and play with an intensity" said Richardson after the game, he led all scorers with 25 points on 10 of 22 shooting in just 21 minutes of play. Rookie OJ Mayo led the bench players with 22 points from an incredible 9 for 10 shooting, including 4 for 5 from 3 point range.

Dwight Howard had 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks for the Magic, and held Bobcats Center Shaquille O'Neal down to just 9 points and 8 rebounds from 4 of 10 shooting, but only him, Lewis, and Nelson played well in the game, Lewis had a double-double with 16 and 11, while Nelson added in 20 points and a game high 5 steals.
"they came out focused and ready to play, you could tell, they wanted to start strong and defend their home court, our guys didn't really play with enough intensity, not as much as they did anyways, Dwight did great, as far as containing the "original superman", and Lewis, Nelson did their stuff too, we'll be fine. It's a series, we're just getting warmed up, i wouldn't worry about it" said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy after the game

The Bobcats look to take the series lead to 2-0 going to Orlando on Thursday Night, back here in the Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte.

Orlando Ties the Series at 1-1 in OT
Image
A Sellout Crowd in the Time Warner Cable Arena, Rare Sign but one that would possible continue for years to come

Jason Richardson and OJ Mayo combined for 55 points, Yuta Tabuse had 16 assists, even Jermereo Davidson had 17 points coming off the bench in just 15 minutes...but it just was not enough on Thursday night as the Magic outplayed the Bobcats in the second half to recover from 9 down at the start of the 2nd half, and with the help of Johnson's 3 pointer with 12.6 to go, defeated the Bobcats 124-121 in overtime.

Jameer Nelson tied with Jason Richardson to lead all scorers with 33 points, Dwight Howard added in 28 and 8 rebounds, while rookie Courtney Lee dropped in 22 as the Magic defeated the Bobcats on the road in Charlotte, and now goes back home to Orlando with the series tied at 1 game apiece, not a good situation for the Charlotte Bobcats.

It's not all good news for the Magic though, their 6th man, Pietrus, got in a collusion late in the 2nd quarter and did not return to play, he has been diagnosed with a sprained finger and would be unplayable for possibly the remainder of the series, or, if the Magic advance, the entire playoffs, without their bench firepower Pietrus, the starters would have to take on a larger role and would be fatigued, which would be an advantage for the Bobcats due to their superior second unit squad led by rookie OJ Mayo.

The series would continue on Apr. 26, as Game 3 would be played over at the Amway Arena, Orlando

Pietrus is out and would be out for a very, very long time...

well, we are tied at 1-1, kinda early, but i think i can get past them too, my team can shut the Magic down completely sometimes...if they play hard defense like they did in game 1 in the rest of the games, then we've got this series in the bag :D

Bobcats get it done in Orlando, goes up 3-1 to return home

Image

The Charlotte Bobcats are on the verge of winning their first ever playoff series as they come back home for game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series against Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic, after some series battles in Orlando, the Bobcats now have a comfortable 3 games to 1 advantage over the Magic, very few teams in the history of the NBA have come back from being down 3-1 to win a postseason series, but that's just what the Magic had gotten themselves into, after losing their 6th man to an unplayable injury, their starting Guard Courtney Lee went out late in the second half of game 3, and although he would return and it is a playable injury, his performances were affected in game 4, in which the Bobcats came away on top.

The Bobcats have struggled in shooting the ball from long range, going 28% from 3 point territory in game 3 and 36% in game 4, but their specular defense had kept them in the game and they have now taken control of this series.
