Time to start the show ay X.

I seen Charles Smith play in real life and he is pretty good. Can shoot the three and all. Monia had a great game last night. Maybe Start Juan Dixon at SG. I like him, he is like a Poor man's Iverson. Quick, can dish, has a killer crossover etc. Good luck.

yep, I think I might start with opening night rosters with Spider as starting SG....Dixon won't be starting, he's too undersized....I like him more as a sparkplug combo guard off the bench....I'm looking forward to also developing Jarrett Jack and the Russians  don't know how Outlaw will fare....should be interesting with all these talented youngsters....

i think you should start patterson or d-miles... either way..... patterson's a great defender.... he's the self proclaimed "kobe stopper", but seriously he really is good in defending and yeah including kobe..... can't wait for your start...... good luck modifying Andrews rosters.....

BLAZERS ANNOUNCE OPENING NIGHT ROSTER

The Portland Trailblazers made no last minute changes to their roster to open the season. One surprise to emerge from training camp was the announcement by Blazers' Coach Nate McMillan that he expected Charles "Spider" Smith to open the season as the team's starting SG ahead of newcomer Juan Dixon and rookies Martell Webster and Sergei Monia. The Blazers will be fielding the league's 2nd youngest squad this season and it should be interesting to see how they respond to the daily challenges that the long and arduous NBA season will bring.

Without further ado, here is your 2005/06 Portland Trailblazers....

Image

:applaud:

BLAZERS IN SEARCH OF MORE POWER

The Blazers open the season with only 3 capable bigmen (Randolph, Ratliff & Przybilla) in the fold. It is expected that forwards Ruben Patterson and Darius Miles might be able to do some spot duty at the PF position, but they are surely not the answer to the Blazers' PF issue. With slightly over $2 million in cap space available, Portland is expected to check out the available free agents and bring in an experienced PF to the roster.

-------------

That's all for tonight. If I get time after basketball tomorrow night then I will post the hiring of coaching staff and the team's future contract situation.

he won't be 6th man to start season, but he'll get every chance to play and earn PT....he's got potential so I'll give him a good look....

Miles will start at SF....I'm going with the Blazers' opening night rosters....I don't know how long Spider will hold down starting SG spot....he could leave for an incoming free agent PF....Patterson will get every chance to play his role....rosters are modified, hopefully I have done all I need to have done for now

So you are making "Spider" the starting SG. That's good too here. You know who you should make at 12th man ? HA SEUNG JIN ! That guy is a monster, despite his low rating. You should think about that. Good luck bro.

Start Ha Seung Jin!! Nice recaps, but why do you have your higher rated guys at the bottom of your bench? I think Outlaw and Webster should be 6th and 7th man, what do you think?

Sergei Monia, and Viktor Khryapa = Kirilenko clones. I hope at least one of them will be able to get playing time along with Webster, Miles and Outlaw.

don't know how long "Spider" will last as the starting SG or even on the roster....I'll try different combinations....I might try and train Jin up to be a space eater :P I don't know how he'll feature this season....we'll see....

chezzy62 wrote:Start Ha Seung Jin!! Nice recaps, but why do you have your higher rated guys at the bottom of your bench? I think Outlaw and Webster should be 6th and 7th man, what do you think?

I doubt that....probably give big Joel the nod as he's my future pivot I'd say so I may as well roll with him....as iLLuzionz said, it's more out of realism....overall ratings don't mean anything....Outlaw's is high because he's an athlete but can he hit the open jumper....the team is not set in stone and whoever fits the best will play....who knows, if either wows me then they could be starting by the end of the year....nothing is out of the question with this ballclub....

Its_asdf wrote:Sergei Monia, and Viktor Khryapa = Kirilenko clones. I hope at least one of them will be able to get playing time along with Webster, Miles and Outlaw.

both Russians figure into my future....they start on IR because they did in real life but you'll notice that Monia was starting IRL as SG by the 2nd game....I'd say Monia is probably a little bit more of a chance to play this season as he's more of a SG and Khryapa is behind talented SF's like Miles, Patterson and Outlaw....

I wanted it to start out realistic, and once it starts, I control the moves and Nate McMillan

Jack is definitely in my plans....he's already locked in as backup PG behind Telfair  as I said before, Webster's play will determine his PT....as for season, will try to get a bit of it done before I head off on holidays in December....

judging by my Bobcats' dynasty in Live '05, you should know I like a challenge

talking about my Bobcats' dynasty, I might sim through seasons and give recaps so faithfuls to that dynasty should look for a recap or two in the Live '05 forum in the coming weeks....will let you guys know in this thread....

will try to get coaching update up tonight....am buggered after bball....we only had 4 players tonight and were missing our 2 best players....so we had to play 4 vs 5 the whole game without any good ballhandlers  was a bit of a rout, but I think if it had of been 4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5 with one of our better players, then we could have taken them....ahh well, I had a solid game, 27pts including about 5/9 from 3pt land....

MEET YOUR STAFF

With new coach Nate McMillan in the fold, the next order of business is to hire some staff that support McMillan & the franchise's cause.

Image
You'd think a billionaire like Paul Allen would splash out a little more on his coaching staff, but alas, the toll of rising fuel prices must be even affecting a modest guy like Mr. Allen

THE BLAZERS' COACHING STAFF

ASSISTANT COACHES

With only $1.90 million to work with, the selection process would have to be stringent. However, with such a young and potential-laden group of players, it was important that the team had a good Assistant Coach in the fold to aide in the player's development.

Image

After a couple of failed attempts at higher profile free agent Assistants, the Blazers turned their attention to Reggie Douglas. The thing that attracted the Blazers to Douglas was that he was a Shooting Coach who was not afraid to preach hard defense, which would be a perfect fit alongside Nate McMillan. Desperate for a quality coach, the Blazers might have stretched their limited budget with a 1 year, $907,000 offer.

Image

Reggie Douglas realise quickly that he was not going to get a better offer than the one made, and readily accepted the offer to join the Blazers' bench.

Image

As mentioned, Reggie Douglas specialise in teaching the lost art of shooting. With the Blazers' roster full of great athletes, but devoid of many quality shooters, his acquisition could prove important to the Blazers' future. Expect Douglas to work with athletes like Travis Outlaw, Darius Miles and guards like Sebastian Telfair to add a perimeter game to their arsenals.

TRAINERS

With an assistant coach in the fold, the Blazers moved their focus onto finding a solid trainer to keep its few stars injury-free.

Image

The Blazers were after a good trainer, but didn't want to pay an Travis Outlaw's arm and Zach Randolph's leg for one. Zacharias Trent seemed like the perfect option. The Blazers offered Trent 1 year and $50k per year less than he wanted.

Image

Trent readily accepted the offer to join the Blazers' staff.

Image

SCOUTS

The final order of business for the Blazers was to find a quality scout.

Image

There weren't any quality North American scouts available, so the Blazers took a chance on one of the best available, Jessie McDyess. McDyess knows an athlete when he sees one and has been known at aiding in the drafting of future stars. The Blazers extended a 1 year, $440,000 deal in hopes of luring McDyess and is star-finding ability to Oregon.

Image

The offer was enough to sway Jessie McDyess, who will immediately go to work in finding the next Michael Finley for the Blazers.

Image

With that signing, the Blazers are about out of money having spent it on Reggie Douglas, Zacharias Trent and Jessie McDyess.

BLAZERS' TRAINING CAMP

Players who impressed coaching staff during training camp were:

SF- Viktor Khryapa

SG- Martell Webster

SF/SG- Travis Outlaw

SG/SF- Sergei Monia

SF- Darius Miles

BOGUT NOT FINISHED IMPROVING

Many draft pundits said 1st overall pick Andrew Bogut's ceiling was not very high. If early signs are anything to go by, the 20 year old Aussie has good days ahead.

Image

With many aspects of his game that could use fine-tuning, what does Warriors' star guard Jason Richardson do? How about working on his dunking. Good to see where his priorities are at. Slam Dunk Contest vs Helping Warriors' to Playoffs. Tough call I guess.

Will be interesting to see how you do, should be quite a challenge.
