Breaking News!
NY, Oct. 22

According to NBA.com just few days before the start of the 2004/05 season
the presidents of the teams and the league officials sat down in NY and
made a decision that will dramatically change the season length. Due to the
lack of interest in the NBA and the expenses of the teams the season will
be cut to 58 games and the playoff series will be played to 3 victories.
David Stern told at the press conference that he does not have something
against this change. "Actually I am quite happy to see it finally being
done," he said. "The players really needed this one, I hope that this will
also decrease the number of injuries and will take the weight off the players
shoulders. Now every game will be twice as important and the fans will be
satisfied as well." Stern did not say anything about the player and sponsorship
contracts, so we can just assume that they will remain the same they were.

Hope is all we have heading into this season, cause this can go two ways.
If the teams, players ,and most important, the fans will accept the new
layout then what else can we say? It was a right decision.

Washington, DC, Oct 25
According to the Washington Post Eddie Jordan is not frightened by the
changes made few days earlier. "Actually with all this fuzz around the
L I hope that we can keep our heads straight and take advantage of the
opposite teams. The previous season went down the drain, I hope we can
make an U-turn right now. With some help from Jamison and Hughes, I
believe that Gilbert Arenas will carry this team to the playoffs.
Enough said.

The teams are currently all in training camps, using their last opportunities
to improve before the tipoff on the 28th. "Well I just want the guys to give
their best these last few days, so we could take on Memphis on the 31st," Jordan
added. The key to the victory? "Great D, that's what we're doing in the camp
and that's what we're going to do on our opening night."

Season Opener
Arenas leads the Wizards to success

Imagevs.Image
Memphis 93 - - - - - Washington 98

[ Box Score ]

The beginning of the new season is always tough and we could see that
right away. Even though Memphis looked to go for the W right away they
couldn't stop no. 0. The grizzlies dominated the offensive boards first 7
minutes and took the 17-10 lead. If it hadn't been for Anthony Peeler,
the game would have been totally different. He totally dominated the end of
the first quarter and was fouled on a threepointer just 1.1 seconds before
the period ending buzzer. With those FTs Washington was back in
the game.

During the second period Gilbert Arenas Stepped up and gave some
amazing passes and made things happen. The Wizards managed to pull
off 4 consecutive baskets with a trip to the line. At the other end Irishman
Pau Gasol was tearing the opposite defense apart, keeping the Gs ahead.
At the half Pau and Arenas were the key players of their teams. Pau
with 11pts and 8rebs, Gilbert with 14pts, 4rebs and 4asts. Mike Miller was
also in a groove, nailing 6/9 from the field.

The second half didn't bring any significant changes and the teams continued
the close race. Washington could have taken the lead with all those
foul shots, but they just couldn't sink them from the charity stripe. The game turned
in the 4th period when Pau Gasol was fouled by Arenas so hard that he had to
call it a night. So 7.08 to play and Gasol was out of the game with a back injury.
The game was even until the clock showed 4 minutes to go. The score was
tied at 80 and during the next minutes Wizards took the lead and held it to
the end. The 6th foul by arenas with 1.32 remaining gave the Grizzlies an
opportunity but they couldn't take it. Jamison and Peeler secured the W with
some clutch 3-pointers and the game was over.

Later at the press conference E. Jordan said he was happy with the result.
"Even though we couldn't nail the easiest shots in this game, the FREEthrows,
I'm satisfied. We deserved to win." Memphis point guard
Jason Williams told us that they have played some rough games and are
currently not on the right track. "Some of that is obviously my fault too, as
you could see I had some trouble to guard Gilbert. He was too good for me
tonight. Hopefully we will learn from our mistakes and develop our game."

Wahington: We don't need freethrows! :P
Top scorer Redd couldn't do it alone

Imagevs.Image
Milwaukee 93 - - - Washington 98

[ Box Score ]

On the paper these to teams were very evenly matched so this one
promised to be an exciting match and so it was. The beginning
was very stressful. Both teams wanted to make the gap but neither
one did. With 2.56 to go in the first quarter Brendan Haywood
fas fouled hard while going for the dunk. He suffered a minor
injury, but the team doctor advised him not to return to the court
versus Milwaukee. After the incident the Bucks used their
opportunity and took the lead. Even though the shooting percentages
were well below 40 percent (MIL .36 and WAS .27) the two
teams were nailing them from behind the arc. By the 14th minute
of play the Bucks were up 31-15, but this didn't stop the Wizards.
They went on a 11-3 streak in the closing minutes of the first
half and started the second 6 points behind. Michael Redd had
scored 17 at the time.

The third quarter was a 2-man show between Larry Hughes and
Michael Redd. Redd outscored Hughes 12 to 11, but the wizards
took the lead by 7, thanks to the great passing. Nothing changed
in the beginning of the fourth but in the closing minutes the
Bucks took advantage of Washington's poor freethrow shooting
and pulled back, but Jamison and Arenas helped their team to
keep the lead until the end while scoring 12 and 13 in the final
period. Arenas was again the POTG.

But coach Eddie Jordan was not pleased. “Don't get this wrong,”
he told the press crew. “It's a good thing th win games, but we
are the only team in the league shooting freethrows under 60
percent, 55 to be accurate. I'm not happy with this!” Kwame
Brown told us that he was happy with his performance. “I
was the only guy who had a double-figure number of rebounds
in this game. This is my message to the coach: you did a right
thing putting me in the starting 5.”

Yes. That "code box scores" suck, you can take a screen of the box scores in game and put them there. (Y)

vs Chicago

November 11, 2004
Bulls not strong enough
Cmon refs? 38FTs???

Washington 97 - - - Chicago 82

[ Box Score ]

The Bulls (1-5) had just signed center Keon Clark, who arrived
to the MCI Center just 15 minutes before the tip-off. The home
crowd got shocked as the Bulls took an early 18-6 lead. As in
previous games, Washington handled the pressure and the
ended first period trailing by one. The second quarter brought
excitement because the teams were quite evenly matched. As
a result of Jamison's quick 4 personal fouls the Bulls' forward
Antonio Davis took down 7 boards during the period. Gordon
was hot too, by scoring 16 in the first half. Both teams were
terrible behind the arc, a combined 1/15 at halftime.

The second half began with a quick 11-3 break by Washington.
( 12 of those points were 3-pointers ) Larry Hughes scored 12
in the third as the Bulls fell behind by 13. The refs gave some
easy fouls and because of that the home team visited the line
19 times (!) during the quarter. Antawn Jamison who sat during
the first half made a solid performance by scoring 10 and avoiding
fouls at the second half. Hughes scored another 9 points during
the closing quarter and collected 21 in the 2nd half as the home
team took their first victory at the MCI Center. While Hughes
took care of the scoring, Gilbert Arenas managed to achieve six
steals and support the team with his passing. Even though the
teams showed stone-cold outside shooting in the beginning, the
crowd could see some great long range hoops at the closing
quarters.

Larry Hughes was happy with the result. “We were better today!
If we had shot freethrows like in the first two games, we could
have lost it.” Bull Tyson Chandler was not pleased with his team-
mates. “We did OK, but because we didn't get all the defensive
rebounds we needed, they got second chances and he had no-
thing else to do, just had to make fouls.” “I like the way the
season has began, i feel that this will be a playoff-year!” said the
POTG, Gilbert Arenas.

Yeah go with taking the screens of the boxscores, I really like your layout and how you have your schedule with links to the games played ( how do you do that).

Also your graphics seem quite good, man I cant wait to get my new PC.

Good luck for the rest of the season, what are your settings?
