Knicks Acquire Three-Time All-Star Steve Francis

NEW YORK, October 28, 2006 – The New York Knickerbockers President Isiah Thomas announced today that the three-time NBA All-Star guard Steve Francis has been acquired from the Orlando Magic in exchange for forward Trevor Ariza and the expiring contract of guard Anfernee 'Penny' Hardaway.

“With this trade we feel that we become a better basketball team,” Thomas said. “By getting Steve, we get an all-star calibre player to our team without giving up any of our core player, which will be very important for the future. Steve will also give us a great veteran both on and off the court.”

And as expected, the Magic later waived 'Penny' and his 16$ mil contract as cap relief in order to be able to resign Bo Outlaw. Outlaw that was waived yesterday in order to make the trade possible.

    Bryant sidelined by sprained knee

LOS ANGELES, October 29, 2006 - Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee Saturday and is expected to be out at least three weeks.

The injury came at the end of the forth quarter against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena. During the game Bryant recorded 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the 39 minutes up until he sustained his injury.

The Los Angeles Lakers will most likely struggle while Bryant is out; but in his absence, other players will get a chance to step up and prove themselves.
