Rip Hamilton was able to get alot of easy buckets during the game

The Pistons we're able to come straight out the gate and get an early lead on the Grizzlies as they led by 10 pts in the 1st quarter. They never looked back as the Grizzlies could not contain them offense.

Detroit was able to shoot over 60% from the field and just wouldn't miss any shots. "These teams just don't miss any shots at home when we visit them. It's tough on us because this was an important game for us," Posey said. There we're really no bright spots for the Grizzlies as they failed to get baskets when they needed them. At halftime, the Pistons we're able to go up by 22 pts on the Grizzlies and the Grizzlies game plan for the 2nd half didn't work as planned.

Billups was unstoppable in the 1st half as he scored 18 pts in the 1st half. Tayshaun Prince finished with a career-high 33 pts in the game. "They outran us in this game for some reason. I don't know what was wrong with our team. We will just have to recover after this game," Jason Williams said.

Image
Miller's late lay-up during the final minutes of the game wasn't enough for the Grizzlies to beat the NBA Champs

The Grizzlies will head to Golden State to face former Grizzlies Shane Battier, Lorenzen Wright and Earl Watson and the Golden State Warriors. The Pistons are now on a 3 game winning streak.

-Ronald Tillery: 555-5555

Sorry for not having my stats, but I was half mad and half tired so I didn't take them down. :( I'm going to get some new sliders where the cpu will stop making so many shots as well.

2 BIG Updates coming today. I just wanted everybody to know that this dynasty hasn't died, I just have been very busy as of late which I mentioned on my other post  School is starting for me next week and I'm one of the top 20 sophmore prospects in Memphis this year for basketball so I'm going to be doing alot of conditioning and working out. I'm still going to be able to update my dyansty on each weekend so I will probably have up to 5-6 updates every weekend. 2 updates will be today and I will also have some tomorrow as well. (Y)

Going Back to Cali'

Erick Dampier will face his former team tonight in Oakland

Image
By Ronald Tillery
November 21, 2004

The Grizzlies center, Erick Dampier has no love for his former team, the Golden State Warriors. "I have moved on to a better place and I don't want to have anything to do with the Warriors again," Dampier said.

Many people thought Dampier was a 1 year wonder as he averaged a double-double and was in the top 5 in rebounding. He has kept his play up and averages 12.6 ppg, 10 rpg and 2 bpg with teh Grizzlies. He has also helped Gasol in a way that no one thought was possible. He showed Pau how to play tougher and become a better defender. "He has really helped me this season and I'm very happy that we brought him into Memphis," Gasol said.

The former Grizzlies Shane Battier, Lorenzen Wright, and Earl Watson will see their former teammates tonight. There is no love loss from the trio that was sent to Golden State for Dampier. "I've always loved the Grizzlies organization and fans. I can't hate them for doing business that they had to do. It was something that was bound to happen and I appreciate the chance they gave me to play for such a great city," Battier said.

The Warriors are 4-2 at home this season, while the Grizzlies are 2-2 on the road. The Grizzlies have been struggling as of late and they want to get back on track tonight.

Key Matchup:
Ron Artest vs. Jason Richardson

Richardson who is known for his high flying dunks has became an offensive weapon. He leads teh Warriors in scoring with 20.1 ppg and has played like a veteran this season. Ron Artest should have his hands full tonight. Richardson will need some defense as well. Artest is averaging 20.3 ppg this season and has otok his offensive game to high limits.

Probable Starters:
Grizzlies
C-Erick Dampier- (2 BPG)
PF-Pau Gasol- (12.4 RPG)
SF-James Posey- (15.9 PPG)
SG-Ron Artest- (20.3 PPG)
PG-Jason Williams- (6.2 APG)

Warriors
C-Andris Biedrins- (7.5 RPG)
PF-Clifford Robinson- (1.3 BPG)
SF-Shane Battier- (1.5 SPG)
SG-Jason Richardson- (20.1 PPG)
PG-Nick Van Exel- (19.4 PPG)

It was "Throwback Night" in Golden State and Posey forgot his black and red shoes, but it didn't matter because he locked the Warriors down on defense.

When James Posey arrived to the Warriors arena, his shoes weren't there so he was stuck with his usual road shoes that he wears when the Grizzlies are in the road jerseys. "They looked pretty funny, but I think they gave the team some luck (winked)," Posey said. Maybe he was right because this was the first game that the Grizzlies we're able to completely dominate the team on defense and they held the Warriors under 70 pts. "It was an all out team effort and it showed how much this team wants to win. They never gave up after the drought they had and now we are back on track," Assistant coach Tony Barone Sr. said.

Back on track indeed, as the Warriors only had 2 players in double figures. Their best player, Jason Richardson was held to 9 pts on 4-17 shooting. "Artest showed everybody why we wanted him. He locked Richardson down perfectly. Richardson only scored 5 pts on Artest and the other 4 pts came from late in the 4th quarter when Artest was resting for tomorrow's game. He put on a great performance tonight," Coach Hubie Brown said.

Image
Shane Battier did not play well against his former team

The game was tightly called in the 1st quarter. There was a total of 16 fouls called during the 1st quarter. 7 fouls came from the Grizzlies and 8 came from the Warriors. It favored the Grizzlies as they Warriors we're in the penalty earlier in the quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Grizzlies started to pull away and they gained a 65-32 lead at halftime.

None of the former Grizzlie players we're able to contribute the way they wanted to as Earl Watson did not get the chance to play. Battier only scored 5 pts during the game and Lorenzen Wright had an off night. The Houston Rockets will host the Grizzlies tonight at the Toyota Center.

Grizzlies, 7-4; Rockets, 6-4.

Rivals Go At It

Since last seaosn, these two teams have been at each other throats

Tonight's game will be an old fashion western shootout as the Grizzlies take on their midwest rival, the Houston Rockets. Many people haven't heard too much about this rival, but last season there was a battle in each and every one of those 4 games that they played each other. Tempers flurred as former Grizzlie Lorenzen Wright and former Rocket Steve Francis almost exchanged blows.

This season should be even more intense. Both teams have made a series of moves that helped them in someway. Tracy McGrady was brought into help the Rockets get an all-around scoring threat on the team. Yao Ming hasn't been impressive this season as many people thought. The Rockets plan end up failing. The Rockets we're suppose to be Yao's team, but McGrady has had more touches and scores alot more. "It has been up and down this season. Coach hasn't liked what he has seen and he has talked to Tmac over and over about giving the ball to Yao more," Jim Jackson said.

McGrady leads the Rockets in scoring with 23.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 4.3 apg and 2 spg. He has put up blazing numbers, but it also hurts Yao developing skills. Yao is 3rd on the team in scoring with 14.8 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 1.7 bpg. Many believe Yao was hurt by the lost off Kelvin Cato who did alot of work on the defensive end for the Rockets.

Key Matchup:
Ron Artest vs. Tracy McGrady

Last night, Artest was able to hold Jason Richardson to 5 pts, while he was guarding him. Artest has a tougher task tonight against McGrady. He said he was going to bring his "A" game tonight to guard Tmac. McGrady hasn't been torching opponents as he shoots 36% from the field.

Probable Starters:
Grizzlies
C-Erick Dampier- (1.9 BPG)
PF-Pau Gasol- (12.5 RPG)
SF-James Posey- (16 PPG)
SG-Ron Artest- (20.2 PPG)
PG-Jason Williams- (6.5 APG)

Rockets
C-Yao Ming- (9.1 RPG)
PF-Maurice Taylor- (16.1 PPG)
SF-Jim Jackson- (51% FG)
SG-Tracy McGrady- (23.1 PPG)
PG-Mark Jackson- (6.2 APG)

Grizzlies Mean Business

Team chemistry gives the Grizzlies an advantage

Yao Ming was held to a limited amount of touches and only scored 6 pts in the game

The Grizzlies team chemistry is really starting to click. The players are running together and they know each other strengths and weaknesses. After a few weeks through the season and some trading done, the Grizzlies have finally figured out how to play with each other.

With all the switching during the season, the Grizzlies have played a few games together with their current roster and are now succeeding alot more. This is the first time this season where the Grizzlies have had 2 blow out games in a row. The Grizzlies had an early advantage on the Rockets once again and the play of Jason Williams has led to the Grizzlies winning these past 2 games. Jason Williams has averaged 15 ppg and 9.5 apg in the past 2 games and has been the reason why the Grizzlies offense has been flowing. "He really stepped his game up the past few games and he is starting to realize that we need him in order for us to have a successful season," Stromile Swift said.

Image
Gasol earned Player of the Game honors with 16 pts and 13 rebs for the Grizzlies

The play of Ron Artest has also been the reason why the Grizzlies have been blowing teams out. His defense the past 2 games have been incredible as he locked Jason Richardson up to only 5 pts. Tracy McGrady was held to 10 pts in tonight's game. "I have got use to the system here and I know what I have to do for us to win games now. Everybody is clicking on offense and defense and everything is going great," Artest said.

Things on the Rockets side still haven't changed as Yao Ming didn't have too many touches and he was only able to have 5 FG attempts in 32 mins of play. He scored 6 pts and grabbed 5 rebs. There was no comment from any of the Rockets players after the game.

These two teams will meet up again in a few days in Memphis for a back-to-back 2 game series after the Grizzlies host the Spurs. The Grizzlies lit the fire in the matchup last night and the game will be alot more intense next time.

oh, and your dyansty rating .....................
honestly i would give you about a 8.5 out of 10 for obvious reasons, some are stupid though, i think you should have kept shane battier and everyone else you traded to the warriors, i'm saying that because it would have kept your dynasty more realistic, i'm the kind for realistic dynasties, but i make acceptions on some, like cocobee's hawks, or alcoholic 's heat, and others, yours is realistic but not as theirs, other than that, your dynasty is great. hope you don't hate me. :|

Well I have to disagree because these trades have been mentioned in real life. In cocobee's dynasty he had an all-star team at first so that's not realistic, but it was exciting. I wouldn't have made these trades if the Grizzlies weren't trying to do these deals in real life. The Grizzlies had 4 PG's and they wanted to trade one anyway so they traded Watson (to get rid of one of the PG's), Wright (who they didn't need after they got Dampier) and Battier (who Mullin loves from the Warriors). That's as realistic as I can get because the Grizzlies we're offering the Warriors Miller and Wright for Dampier. So I don't call that unrealistic. As for the Artest for Bonzi deal, the Pacers have been asking about Bonzi since the nba draft and they would deal Artest for him along with other players so that's not realistic either. If I make a trade, it would have something to do with real life issues...

Now, I don't even know if I should continue this dynasty because it seems like most people like the 95/96 dynasties better and every since cocobee's dynasty left, nobody would really visit the page.

I visit this dynasty the most and I don't think you should give up on it. Sure there's a fad going on with the 95/96 dynasties but I still think this one is the best currently going on. :D

Playoff Rematch

Grizzlies meet up with the team that swept them from the playoffs last season for the first time

Image
By Ronald Tillery
November 24, 2004

There is just one day left before Thanksgiving Day. The Grizzlies have a few things they want to give the Spurs after they we're embarrased in the 2004 NBA Playoffs last season. "The players want their revenge and they want to prove to everyone that they can beat the Spurs with their full team," Assistant Coach Tony Barone Sr. said.

The Spurs swept the Grizzlies as the Grizz we're aunable to focus with the intensity the Spurs had. The experience was on the Spurs side as the Grizzlies never had playoff experience as a team. This season should be alot different.

Memphis is facing the Spurs at the right time. The past 2 games have been easy blow out wins for the Grizzlies, while the Spurs are on a 4- game losing streak. "It's going to be interesting on how we come out tonight after losing 4 straight games. We are going to try and make a turnaround tonight," Spurs guard Emanuel Ginobili said.

Tonight will be "Throwback Night" in San Antonio. This will be the first "Throwback Night" for the Spurs, but the Grizzlies played a game during "Throwback Night" against the Golden State Warriors. The Spurs will be wearing their silver and black throwback uniforms. The Grizzlies will wear their all teal uniforms from their first years as a franchise in Vancouver.

Key Matchup:
Jason Williams vs. Tony Parker
Parker has played like an all-star so far during the season. He is averaging 18.2 ppg and 4.9 apg for the Spurs this season. He has really stepped his game up since the end of last season when he shot off on almost every opponent. Williams has been playing extremely well the past 2 games. He has averaged 15 ppg and 9.5 apg in the last 2 games. He is the reason why the Grizzlies are running the floor to perfection.

Probable Starters:
Grizzlies
C-Erick Dampier- (2.1 BPG)
PF-Pau Gasol- (12.4 RPG)
SF-James Posey- (15.6 PPG)
SG-Ron Artest- (20.3 PPG)
PG-Jason Williams- (6.6 APG)

Spurs
C-Rasho Nesterovic- (1.4 BPG)
PF-Tim Duncan (21.9 PPG)
SF-Bruce Bowen- (50% FT)
SG-Emanuel Ginobili- (12 PPG)
PG-Tony Parker- (4.9 APG)

Newcomer Ron Artest made sure his team got the win last night against the Spurs

It's about that time and the Grizzlies are already giving out gifts to opponents during the holiday season. Today is Thanksgiving Day and I would like to wish everyone out there a Happy Thanksgiving. As for the Grizzleis, they were really impressive last night as they were able to play with the same toughness as they played with the past 2 games.

This is what makes the Grizzlies real special and that's nothing but teamwork. The Grizzlies does so many thing that contribute to the team and not just for their individual stats. The team has really came together ever since beating the losing to the Detroit Pistons in a blow out game. The Grizzlies are now on a 3 game winning streak and are looking for more.
Image
Tim Duncan was held to 10 pts and 5 rebs as Dampier played great defense against him
Erick Dampier played well last night against both Tim Duncan and Rasho Nesterovic. Dampier received Player of hte Game honors with 13 pts, 15 rebs and 2 blks. "It was one of my best games of the season against a great set of big men. For me to play this well against a former 2-time MV feels great. Hopefully I can continue this type of play," Dampier said.

Emanuel Ginobili was hard to stop as he was the only San Antonio Spur to stand out. He scored 23 pts as he couldn't be stopped from long range or on the fast break. "He had alot of energy tonight and was one of the few of us that really had energy," Tony Parker said.

Parker wasn't himself tonight and neither was Jason. Parker contribute 10 pts and 7 asts, but wasn't shooting well from the field. Williams was able to get 6 pts and 5 asts during the game and he wasn't able to provide a spark for the Grizzlies even though they didn't need it. "You will have some bad games and that was one of those games. I try my best when I get out there on the court, but my teammates really didn't need me tonight which is a good sign because I didn't play well," Williams said.

The Grizzlies will meet up against the Houston Rockets in a couple or days to have a rematch from their last game where the Grizzlies blew the Rockets out. The Grizzlies will also return him during that game as they finished up a road trip.
