so welcome once again to:
The NBA Playoffs! version 2011
The playoff starting line-up:
April, 2011: Co-team and bench captains,
'Lil H' and
Shaquille O'Neal rallied their troops for
one last post season Shaq-Attack. After two disappointing playoff exits to the Clippers last
year and to San Antonio in 2009, O'Neal and company willed their way back into the
NBA Finals
by plummeting the Supersonics, the Jazz, and Rockets along the way.
With the series hanging in the balance, L.A. squeeked out of Game 6 with a victory, setting up
one last showday against their Nemesis, the Detroit Pistons who we all know non-chalantly
walked all over them back in 2004...way back when Brian Cook was still a rookie.
O'Neal about Game 7: "We're going into the teeth of a team that was going to be hyped as all hell."
2011 NBA Finals: Game 7 "
This one is payback"
(but unfortunately Shaq played none but 2 minutes

)
But here goes...
After a shakey Game 6, league MVP
Darko Milicic made sure he
got out of the gates quick for the series Finale.
"Downtown L.A." Noone sinks a Laker three better than '
Lil H'...well
perhaps Spike Faulk. Gulmatico went 2-4 in game 7.
"Still playing after all these years" With a 27 point night,
Rip Hamilton's
still going strong in Detroit Blue- returning to the Finals after a seven year
absense.
"Still Blocking after all these years" 8 year veteran
Brian Cook
pays homage to Shaq's retirement with 3 swats for the night.
Not a pretty night for the NBA's 6th man finishing 8,1&2. However, he did
'
Goode' on this highflyer act.
"Come Fly with Me"
Spike Faulk lead a team high 25 points, nothing
more emphatic than this monstrous dunk in the 3rd.
A long series taking it's toll: but 17 minutes is all
Brian Cook could
handle as exhaustion set in by having to crawl back from their 2-3 series deficit.
'Ripping through the Lane'
Hamilton committed only one turnover in
the game. However, it came on this offensive foul late in the fourth as
the score was deadlocked at 94.
Regulated to the bench for the series,
'Ice' Elwood finally puts the
Lakers ahead with the nailbiter shot with a minute left in the game.
And after that clutch moment, Elwood just knew he delivered the
knockout punch.
Final Score: Lakers 100,
Pistons 96
Congratulations to the
2011 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers!
