This is Brad Halstead's ultimate opportunity!:

Red Light For Greene

December 24, 2010, a Christmas Rockets party is hosted in Kevin Martin's new house in Houston. Martin barely moved in a few days ago, taking advantage of the four day break before the Rockets' next game at Los Angeles. It was 11:00 PM. Almost all of the Houston Rockets had attended, except for Ray Allen and Aaron Brooks, who decided to spend the eve with their families.

"Yao, it's weird as hell seeing you dressed formally," said a half-drunk Chase Budinger, "you're just too tall to be dressed like that." Everybody was watching Luis Scola play Martin in billiards, as Kevin Martin had purchased a billiards table the day before. "Sank right into the corner pocket," said a grinning Scola, who had sank the 8-ball and won the game.

"You dare defeat me in home court?" laughed Martin. "I'm not the most skilled player at this, but yeah, I just defeated you in home court," said Scola. "Hey, anybody know the time?" Donte Greene blurted out. "It's 11:05," answered Yao, checking his watch.

"What do ya need to know the time for, man, aren't ya havin' a blast?" asked Martin. "I am, but I'd best be headin' home," said Greene. "Why, man? You don't got kids, or a wife yet," said Martin. "It doesn't concern you, man," said Greene.

"OK, ok," said Martin. "Make sure you just show up at L.A.," Martin told him. "Alright, then, I'll see all of ya'll at LA," said Greene, parting ways with the Rockets team.

He got into his Lexus, and turned on the engine, and then the heater, as it was a very cold night in Houston. He drove away, watching Kevin Martin's house disappear as he turned a corner.

It was very dark, if it weren't for his headlights, or streetlights, Donte would not know where he was going. So as not to feel lonely, he turned on his ipod, popped in his earphones, and started jammin'. After a few minutes of driving, he heard a screech of tires, and then his car was pushed forward. He took his earphones out of his ears, and stepped out of his car to assess the damage of his car, and to see what had happened.

A dark blue Ford Mustang had hit him, and rushed right past him. "Hey, what's your problem you asshole!" yelled Greene after the Mustang. It made a u-turn, screeched to a halt, and a dark mysterious figure stepped out, wearing a coat. He took something out of his coat pocket, and to Greene's huge surprise, it was a pistol!

The next sound was the loudest sound Greene had ever heard in his life, the BANG! of a pistol, and he felt a huge sting in his right leg, and it knocked him to the floor. Grimacing in pain, Greene heard the Mustang screech away, as he was left alone in the dark.

Minutes later, a car stopped next to him, "Donte!" Greene heard a voice. He couldn't see clearly who it was, but saw a very tall figure and knew it was Yao Ming. "Oh, God, we need to get you to a hospital," said a worried Yao, and dialed 911 on his phone. Minutes later, Donte Greene saw flashing red lights approach him, and then, he lost consciousness.

Whoa...that's certainly a dark turn.

This will be some sort of Carl Landry-like story.

Wanted to add a bit of mystery to the story, but this is as dark/harsh the stories will get. I think it's about time Brad stepped into the spotlight!

Let me see if I get it, Donte gets shot, and then Yao helps him and crashes? So two injuries in a matter of minutes?

I hope this isn't Halstead doing this

How did you get that from the last paragraph? Yao shows up and calls 911. He doesn't crash.

Now THAT would be a dark turn.

Oh my bad, didn't see the 911 part. I thought, Donte gets shot, then Yao helps him into his car, then another car comes and crashes. Both die. (?) :shake:

I believe Thierry's already realised his mistake in reading that last paragraph.

Well, I read somewhere that he killed one of his players off a heat stroke or something in one of his many failed stories. That wouldn't seem strange to him.

Another story to come before Saturday's 3-game Recap. Culprit to be discovered, soon....

Fuck the gunman! He almost killed Donte!

Darn, this shouldn't be surprising! It just means they now suck!

Bench is averaging 30+ ppg? Wow! :|

None of my players are bench warmers. All 12 active players play in every game, hence why the bench scores so much. With a deep bench that has everything, it's not surprising. :)

Close Call for Greene

December 25, 2010, Houston, TX- Local sources have informed us that last night, around 11 PM at night, Donte Greene was shot near Harris County. Greene was shot in the leg, and lost consciousness, and is in a serious health condition.

The Houston Police Department have been investigating the scene of the crime, and it is so far known that the culprit crashed the back of Greene's Lexus, then stepped out of the car and shot him. The culprit is still unknown to this point.

"Justice better be served; it's very pansy-like to sneak up on somebody and shoot 'em, especially if they never did nothin' to you," said an angered Kevin Martin, whom is close friends with Donte. "I didn't know what to say when I found him, it's just not in Donte to get into trouble like that," said Yao.

"This really puts a hole in the bench, Greene's great perimeter shooting is lost, and his good perimeter defense," Rick Adelman had a say on this. With the Rockets a player short for next game, they can either activate rookie Center Gregory Costa, or call up a player for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

We hope that Donte makes a good and speedy recovery, and that he returns to his form once he gets back on the court.

Heaven for Halstead Part II

"It looks like Brad Halstead is back in form, posting his usual bulky stats," started Amadeus Pelayo, Vipers play-by-play. "The Vipers are up 98-95 with 45 seconds left here in this ball game."

"All the Vipers need to worry about is defense, don't give up an open three, and don't allow an easy bucket." said the color commentator. "Halstead has shown tremendous defense here against the Bakersfield Jam, holding Reece Gaines to under 10 points, while posting huge stats of 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, with two steals and four blocks to go with that." continued Pelayo.

"And both teams are back on the floor, 45 seconds left, Jam ball."

Reece Gaines attempted a jumper with 26 seconds to go, and got the lucky bounce, even though it was heavily contested by Halstead. "How did he get that to go?!" said Pelayo excitedly. "98-97 Vipers still up."

"A basket is crucial in this possession," said the color commentator, watching in suspense. "Two second differential between game and shot clock here. Will Conroy brings the ball up court." continued Pelayo. "Tough defense is being played on Halstead. He finally gets it, two point jumper... and hits it!" exclaimed Pelayo.

The crowd at Rio Grande Valley jumped to its feet and cheered. "Brad Halstead knocks down a crucial bucket to put the Vipers up 100-97! Jam has 10 seconds to respond." Pelayo continued. "You must guard the three-point line in this situation, don't allow an open look, and keep that clock moving." suggested the color commentator.

"So here's the last possession after the 20-second timeout by the Jam. Can't find an open look; Reece Gaines jacks up a desperation shot... no, can't get it to go down. The Vipers hold on, 100-97 on an excellent game by Brad Halstead. The Vipers now move up to 14-2." Pelayo concluded the game.

Halstead, once again, did not shake hands, and rushed to the locker room. Willie Lewis was waiting for him there. "Hey man, proud of ya, you make it look so easy," Lewis complimented him. "Hell yeah man," answered Brad laughing.

"Hey, guess what, I've got excellent news," said Lewis. "What?" asked Brad. "Just got a call from Daryl Monkey or whatever his name is, and he said you've been called up to the Rockets!" exclaimed Lewis. "Aww, man, excellent, this is the opportunity I've been seeking. Finally, I have a chance to show the NBA what I'm made of!" said Halstead excitedly.

Willie Lewis walked away, and Halstead got to dressing. He found a pack of cigarettes in his coat, thought about it for a minute, and threw them into a nearby trashcan, grinning at his fortune, and recent decision.

No worries. That'd also be 11 PM in the evening/at night. ;)

Seems there's hope for Halstead after all, though he's still lacking in sportsmanship.

Man, it really looks like Halstead will finally get a chance to play in the NBA. I can now imagine the expression in K-Mart's face.

Rockets Lose Double OT Thriller [24-4]

Fri Sep 17, 2010 9:31 am

Ok, so I had some time to game today, and came across a thriller game. First time I ever go to more than one OT period. (Y)

[24-3] Houston Rockets 126-129 Los Angeles Lakers [12-14]

Image
This was the shot that started the OT thrill.

All throughout the game, the Lakers were just dominant. The Rockets gained their first lead in the 2nd quarter, but relinquished it as the Lakers got themselves up by 7 at halftime. In the second half, the Rockets went very cold, and in the fourth quarter, their deficit ballooned to 15 points. All hope was lost, or was it...? With 3 minutes left, Kevin Martin sparked a 13-0 run, to tie the game at 99. After a bricked three by Artest, Pau Gasol got the offensive rebound, and got his mid-range jumper to go, with 7 seconds left. After a timeout, Kevin Martin hit a mid-range jumper of his own, and with .3 seconds left on the clock, OT came.

In OT, both teams were still very evenly matched. Both teams started out slow, but with 2 minutes left, exploded with scoring. Down 2, Martin was fouled, hoop and harm, with a chance to win it at the line. He missed the free throw, his nerves got the better of him. "I feel ashamed of myself, I shoot over 90% for the season, and to miss one a free throw at crunch time is just devastating," he said in a post-game interview.

In double overtime, both teams still would not give an inch, but the Rockets got a better start. Kevin Martin, Aaron Brooks, and Shane Battier scored their fair share of buckets, but Yao Ming did not score once in any overtime period. The game tied, Jordan Farmar hit a three with 7 seconds to go. Martin tried to tie the game, but did not prevail, as they were sent home after a very nice run. Now, the Rockets head to Portland, hoping to prove this loss is just a pat on the back.

Notes: Although scoring low, Yao had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Also, Shane Battier got his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. On the Lakers side, three players had double-doubles: Kobe Bryant, 42 points and 10 assists, Pau Gasol, 16 points and 19 rebounds, and Andrew Bynum, with 10 points and 22 rebounds. Kevin Martin was within one point of tying his career high in points, finishing with 49.

Kobe Bryant is showing no signs of decay.

Here he is, the player you've all been waiting for! Halstead scored 4 points in his debut. Doesn't show much potential, but it's a good start.

Did a recap of this game by itself because, despite the loss, it was a very fun and special game. 2-game Recap on Saturday.

Re: Rockets Lose a Double Overtime Thriller [24-4]

Fri Sep 17, 2010 10:46 am

That's fun....
My best game: 3OT on Live, Thunder (me) @ Lakers.
End of Regulation: Green hits game tying three.
End of OT: Hasheem Thabeet puts back missed layup by Westbrook.
End of 2OT: Durant nails a long three.

I lost 130-124, but was that hell or what

I love when I lose in 2OT and above. It makes you feel proud.... But not as much as winning :D
