CLIPPERS VS. SUNS
America West Arena, Phoenix, 7:00 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Clippers, 30-48; Suns, 61-17.
INJURY REPORT Phoenix- Joe Johnson (broken bone in wrist) out indefinitely

KEY MATCHUP: QUENTIN RICHARDSON VS. COREY MAGGETTE
It will be two former teammates matched up against each other and with Richardson catching fire as of late, it may be a brawl at the SG position. Maggette leads the Clippers in scoring with 20.6ppg and he is one of the best at getting to the free throw line with his penetration ability.

INSIDE THE CLIPPERS
The Clippers are looking to finish the season out on a good note heading into the lottery like most teams that aren't playoff bound. They have won two straight, picking up a big win over San Antonio. 3 of their last 4 games are on the road.

INSIDE THE SUNS
With Phoenix beating the Hornets, they clinched the number one spot in the playoffs as they stand 5.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Spurs with just 4 games remaining. The Suns look to surpass their season-high winning streak at 10 tonight.

Phoenix Win 11th Straight

Phoenix have been the hottest team as of late in the NBA

PHOENIX, April 15 (Ticker) -- Bobby Simmons couldn’t carry the entire load for the Clippers team tonight as he did everything in his will to try and get his team past the Suns. He only missed 3 minutes of play and ended up with a career-high 35 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds in the Clippers 119-105 loss to Phoenix. “It was a game where the shots fall for you, but unfortunately the team didn’t get the win,” Simmons said. Simmons scored 11 of his 35 points in the first quarter as the Clippers took a 31-24 lead at the end of the quarter which was the biggest lead the Clippers had on the Suns all season.

Once the 2nd quarter began, the Suns made a couple of switches on the defensive side and Phoenix was able to hold Simmons to just 4 points in the quarter which led to a 40-25 advantage in the quarter. “We had to do something about Bobby because if he was going to score 10 or more points against us in each quarter, we would’ve had a tougher time winning,” Suns forward Shawn Marion said. Walter McCarty was the savior for the team in his 11 minutes of play stopping Simmons on several possessions. “If I can’t put the ball in the hoop, I can try and get it going on the defensive end and help the team in another way,” McCarty said.

There were three Suns’ that had their offense going that help put the Clippers away late in the first half. Stoudemire, Marion and Richardson scored 33 of the teams’ 40 points in the 2nd quarter. “All 3 of them did a great job scoring the ball when we needed them to,” Coach D’Antoni said. “This was a game we couldn’t afford to lose as we get closer to the playoffs.” Steve Nash had one of his unusual off nights from the field only shooting 3-14, but was able to go to the line 10 times and knock down all 10 foul shots finishing with 17 points and 10 assists. Despite his horrible shooting from the field, he ended a 8-2 run made by the Clippers early in the 4th quarter by nailing his only 3-pointer of the game to put the lead back up to double digits and Phoenix never looked back.

Corey Maggette finished with 26 points and 5 assists, while his teammate Elton Brand was held to 14 points on 6-16 shooting. “We played good early on, but as a team we couldn’t finish out the game,” Brand said. “We had opportunities, but that’s just a lesson that we all have to learn.” Coach Mike Dunleavy was impressed with Simmons career-night, but was unhappy with the lack of defense against Phoenix. “Simmons played great tonight, but the offense he had going didn’t help his teammates on defense,” Dunleavy said. “Defensively, the team stunk the place up and we allowed them to shoot 54% from the field.” The Suns play the Kings tomorrow night who the Suns have beaten in two very close contests this season. Joe Johnson made big shots for the team against Sacramento, but Johnson is still hurt.

KINGS VS. SUNS
America West Arena, Phoenix, 7:00 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Kings, 55-24; Suns, 62-17.
INJURY REPORT Phoenix- Joe Johnson (broken bone in wrist) out indefinitely

KEY MATCHUP: STEVE NASH VS. MIKE BIBBY
Mike Bibby is known as a crunchtime player and tonight's game may end up in a crunchtime situation. With Chris Webber gone, Bibby has been recieving more touches and he will have to keep up wiht the quickness of Steve Nash. Both point guards like to run the break so expect a high-paced game.

INSIDE THE KINGS
The Kings are 3 games ahead of the Grizzlies for the 4th spot and are currently on a 5-game winning streak. Sacramento are 21-6 since sending Webber to the Sixers and have become a much deeper team.

INSIDE THE SUNS
Joe Johnson has played some of his best games this season against the Kings, making one big shot after another, but he won't be in the lineup tonight due to his injury. If it comes down to a last second shot, the question is who will take it?

Suns Streak Ends; Kings Streak Continues

Mike Bibby and the Kings extended their winning streak to six games

PHOENIX, April 16 (Ticker) -- After winning a game against the Clippers last night in the same arena, they came back tonight to lose to a hot Sacramento Kings team. On the defensive end, the Kings were able to do something that not many teams can conquer. They shut down two of the Suns’ starters and held them to just 80 points. “I preach all the time at practice about defense, and it seems like that it finally came in handy against the best offensive team in the league,” Kings coach Rick Adelman said. “We’ve came close in the last two games we played them in, and we were bound to win a game in the last week of the season.” Sacramento started a run in the 3rd quarter that put them up 11 points in the quarter and outscored the Suns 13-2 in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half. “We had no answer for what they were doing and that was making everything they put up,” Suns forward McCarty said. “We have nights like that a lot of times, but we rarely see that happening to us.”

The Kings did most of their damage without their starting point guard Mike Bibby helping. He was caught in foul trouble early in the game and was shooting terrible from the field. Bibby shot 2-13 from the field and scored just 4 points, but he was able to dish out 8 assists in the win. “I wasn’t expecting a night like this because I knew that I had to contribute for the team to win, but look like I was wrong,” Bibby laughed. “My teammates did a great job on the defensive end which led to some easy buckets for us and now we are guaranteed homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.”

Phoenix started the game off shooting 48% in the first quarter and held a two point advantage heading into the 2nd quarter. The Suns weren’t able to extend their lead at the end of the quarter after the Kings tied the game up at 59-59 heading into intermission. “This was one of the first games this season that we only had 3 players score in double figures and we score just 80 points,” Coach D’Antoni said. “It seem like the players had no effort tonight and we have to step it up against Denver who we will be facing in the first round.” Quentin Richardson and Jim Jackson only scored 5 points apiece and combined for 3-16 shooting. Neither teams’ bench played well, but the Kings bench still outscored the Suns 13-2. Shooting wise, the Suns struggled mightly shooting 27-72 (38%) from the field. Brad Miller led the Kings with 26 points, while Stojakovic scored 25 in 41 minutes of play.

Good win streak going mafia and glad you back from vacation.

Good luck vs. Kings

THanks, too bad it had to end though :x The Kings, Mavs, Grizzlies and Spurs always giving me the most trouble. The bad thing is that if I beat the Nuggets in the first round, I have to play either the Mavs or Grizzlies in the 2nd round.

Tough loss.

Don't worry about those teams. Same thing happened to me. Two teams had my number during the regular season, but in the Playoffs I sweeped them.

NUGGETS VS. SUNS
America West Arena, Phoenix, 7:00 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Kings, 55-24; Suns, 62-17.
INJURY REPORT Phoenix- Joe Johnson (broken bone in wrist) out indefinitely Denver- Marcus Camby (bone spur in foot) out indefinitely

KEY MATCHUP: AMARE STOUDEMIRE VS. FRANCISCO ELSON
The Nuggets replace Nene with Elson in the starting center spot with Marcus Camby still recovering from a foot injury. This will be Elson's 12th start this season and expect Amare Stoudemire to have the advantage. Elson loves to play dirty whenever he gets a chance to, so there will be alot of physical play down low.

INSIDE THE NUGGETS
Denver has been up and down in their past few games losing one, winning, then losing, then winning, so they aren't very balanced heading into the playoffs. This is a very important game for them because they yet to find a way to beat the Suns who will be their first round matchup in the playoffs.

INSIDE THE SUNS
Phoenix will look to sweep their 15th team this season tonight against Denver. The Suns average 106ppg against the Nuggets this season and Phoenix will host their last home season game of the year.

Suns End Fan Appreciation Night With Win
Phoenix made their fans very proud this season

Anthony only shot 5-21 from the field against the Suns

PHOENIX, April 18 (Ticker) -- As the clock sounded and the fans started to cheer, the Suns knew they gave their fans something to cheer about. All the Phoenix players remained on the floor after the buzzer sounded and Steve Nash picked up the microphone to say thank you to the fans. “They were really great this season and they help bring the excitement to the arena each and every night,” Nash said. All the Suns gave the jerseys off their backs to fans, signed autographs, and threw out shoes in the crowd. “It was a very fun night and for us to win the last home game of the season for the fans made it even better,” Suns forward Shawn Marion said. “We can’t stop winning for the fans now, we have to continue the same trend in the playoffs.”

Phoenix started the game off shooting 60% from the field and scoring 33 points in the first quarter. Jim Jackson made 2 of his 3 three pointers in the quarter along with Stoudemire scoring 9 of his 21 in the opening period. “We had to set the tone early, because this was an important game to us and we knew it was very important to them,” Stoudemire said. “This win will really help us heading into the playoffs.” Most of the starters got a chance to rest during the 2nd half as Nash only played 29 minutes, Stoudemire 36 minutes, Marion 39 minutes and Richardson 31 minutes. Jim Jackson was the only starter to play 40 or more minutes in the game. “I tried to give the starters as much rest as possible so we can get ready for Sacramento who will be a tough task,” Coach D’Antoni said. “We couldn’t risk anymore injuries after what happened to Joe.”

The Suns led throughout each and every quarter and the Nuggets could never get within’ single digits after the first half of play. “They came out of the gates fast and we couldn’t capitalize,” Denver forward Carmelo Anthony said who shot 5-21 from the field. “They knew what they had to do to win the game and obviously we didn’t want it as much as they did.” Anthony could not catch fire during the game with most of his points coming from the free throw line. The Suns defensive stopper, Walter McCarty along with Shawn Marion held Anthony down in the post and made him force bad shots. “We did a great job tonight on Carmelo and that was the key to winning this game,” Coach D’Antoni said in a press conference.

Francisco Elson was able to have a solid night against All-Star Amare Stoudemire. Elson went perfect from the field shooting 3-3 for 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. “It was one of my best games as a starter and I wanted to put up the type of numbers Camby would put up to fill in his void,” Elson said. This is still the beginning of these two teams, as they will matchup again in the 2005 NBA playoffs in the first round. “It’s going to be a fight,” Nash said.

nice win against Nuggets,
you need to rest your players going to the playoffs coz injuries strike players easily late in the season..

are you assure of the home-court advantage through playoff??

HUGE win over the Nuggets.

i know, it was a game i couldnt lose

thanks, and i really cant afford for any of my best players to hurt seriously. i still cant believe johnson is out for so long. they still have him listed at 7 weeks!

yea, im going to have homecourt throughout the playoffs because i have the best record in the league and im 6.5 games ahead of the pacers and spurs for the best record. i will post the final standings after my last game against the kings to let everyone catch up with the records.

Being a Dutchy, I like it to see Elson play so well, and at least some longer than he does in real life :D

Another impressive win again, I hope you can continue the form you've shown this season, when you enter the playoffs..
