2005/06 PLAYER AWARDS

Individual brilliance was rewarded as the 2005/06 season awards were presented. Here's how the awards were allocated....

Image
T-Mac was superb for Rockets and this was well-deserved

Image
Ho-hum, Big Ben chgimes again as best in league at the "other" end

Image
Joey Graham was a superb acquisition for the Raptors and had a stellar rookie year, surprising many with his play

Image
He was improved, but the Bulls sucked and he shot very poorly and took the ball out of guys' hands like Kirk Hinrich & Ben Gordon

Image
Hudson was a nice spark off the bench for the T'wolves in an otherwise pretty disappointing season

Image
Pistons had a stellar regular season, even if Darko didn't figure into the team's rotation for the 3rd straight season

Team Awards and Conference Finals' results will be up soon....

Sun Mar 05, 2006 3:42 pm

WOOT WOOT !
See those numbers on Graham. Sick.
Good shit by Wallace and McGrady.

2005/06 TEAM AWARDS

Now for the Team Awards, where the top players, defenders and rookies each get elected by a panel of selectors as the premium players in their fields. We'll start with the All-NBA Teams and work through the All-Defensive Teams and finally, the All-Rookie Teams.

Image
Shaq (Mia) beats out Yao for All-NBA 1st Team honours next to teammate Dwayne Wade (Mia) & former Magic forward Tracy McGrady (Hou). Elton Brand (LAC) thoroughly deserved his 1st All-NBA 1st Eam appearance after a Mailman-like season. The real surprise was Steve Francis (Orl) who shouldn't have been in the 1st Team

Image
All these selections are to be expected, but it was Joe Johnson (Atl) who really took his game & his team's game to the next level

Image
Kenyon Martin (Den) resurrected his career this past season as he helped the Nuggets take the Northwest Division title. Shame they couldn't advance further than the 1st Round

Image
The 2nd team is stacked, with the notable inclusion of improving youngster Dwight Howard (Orl), who I expect to be a mainstay in the All-NBA & Defensive Teams for years to come

Image
The top 4 picks made the grade, but it was a mid-1st Rounder who stole the show for the rookies

Image
Brandon Bass (NOK) was unlucky not to crack the 1st Team with his surprising season, & it seemed that voters almost forget about him for the All-Rookie 2nd Team as well

Sun Mar 05, 2006 3:48 pm

Alot of surprises there.
Francis a first team ? BOO !
Bron has a low ass PPG this year.
Good to see other Rap Calderon make it to the 2nd team.
Bass surprised me too.
He should be a first team with those numbers he put up.

yep, Joey Graham was superb, especially in the latter parts of the season after I made the trade for Morris Peterson....

yep, could be a good sign for the future for the Raptors with Graham & Calderon figuring in the rookie teams....Bass was a surprise & was unlucky to miss out on 1st team with the stats he had, but who would he have knocked out?!?

and yep, Francis should not have been there....and I guess Larry Hughes, Z & Gooden cut into LBJ's ppg totals....the real question is where is Kobe?!?

Sun Mar 05, 2006 3:56 pm

Bass first team would be at the expense of Bogut. :D

PLAYOFFS CONFERENCE FINALS RESULTS

Here are the results from the Conference Finals of the playoffs....

WEST

(1) San Antonio defeats (6) Memphis 2-0

Image

The Grizzlies just couldn't stick with the Spurs in this series as San Antonio rolled through in 2 straight games to move onto the NBA Finals for the 2nd straight season.

San Antonio: T. Duncan - 19.8ppg, 9.5rpg, 1.67bpg, 1.50spg, 54.8% FG, 90.0% FT
Memphis: D. Stoudamire - 13.4ppg, 6.6apg, 40.8% FG, 96.0% FT

EAST

(1) Detroit defeats (2) New Jersey 2-0

Image

No Jason Kidd, no contest as the Detroit Pistons absolutely thumped the living shit out of the hapless Nets. The Pistons are looking great going into the NBA Finals as they get a chance to get some revenge on the Spurs for last year's defeat.

Detroit: T. Prince - 19.3ppg, 9.3rpg, 3.29bpg, 3.43TO/g
New Jersey: V. Carter - 14.4ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.80spg, 50.0% FG, 50.0% 3Pt
