SUNS VS. ROCKETS
Toyota Center, Houston, 7:30 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Suns, 55-17; Rockets, 44-29.
INJURY REPORT Phoenix- Joe Johnson (broken bone in wrist) out indefinitely; Leandrosa Barbosa (broken toe) questionable; Houston- Moochie Norris (broken nose) doubtful

KEY MATCHUP: AMARE STOUDEMIRE VS. YAO MING
Of course Yao has the size advantage over Amare, but Stoudemire has been through many giants during the season with Yao being one of them. Stoudemire has been on a tear in his last two games averaging 30ppg and 9.5rpg. Yao has improved his passing out of the double team so it will be up to Stoudemire to try and hold him down to keep others from making wide open jumpers.

INSIDE THE SUNS
Phoenix has finally got one of their players back from injury that will definitely improve their bench some more. Barbosa will not play that many minutes due to still feeling a little sore.

INSIDE THE ROCKETS
Houston is coming off a tough loss to the New Orleans Hornets on Friday losing 96-94. The Rockets hold the 7th spot in the West as they stand 6.5 games ahead of Denver and are tied with Dallas for the 6th spot.

PHOENIX, April 3 (Ticker) -- Steve Nash scored 12 of his 24 points in the final quarter as the Suns used a late surge for a 92-85 victory over the Houston Rockets, who were on the verge of gaining the 6th spot in the West. The runaway league leader in assists at 9.1 per game, Nash has turned fellow starters Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Jim Jackson and Quentin Richardson into potent scorers. But the point guard does average 19.5 points and can score when he has to.

With the Rockets holding an 72-69 lead into the 4th quarter, Nash became more aggressive on offense. He made a pair of jumpers and a foul shot to help the Suns reclaim an 85-80 edge with 3:29 left. After Jon Barry hit the only 3-pointer of the game for Houston, he moved the Rockets within’ 87-83 with just over two minutes remaining, but Nash drilled a 3-pointer with 1:36 to play that gave Phoenix the lead for good. A 3-pointer by Marion extended the lead to 93-83. The Timberwolves only scored two points in the final two minutes of the game. Phoenix was just 5-19 from downtown, but still found a way to win.

Stoudemire scored 24 points, Marion added 19, Richardson and Nash added 14 apiece for the Suns (56-17), who maintained the best record in the NBA with their fifth straight win. Tracy McGrady scored 21 points to lead the Rockets and Yao Ming added 19 and 15 boards for the Rockets (44-30), who lost their 2nd straight game and are still not guarenteed the 7th spot in the playoffs. Barbosa only played six minutes once again tonight, but in this game he was able to score 4 points from the field. “I’m feeling better and better day after day, it just feels good to go back out on the court and try to help give Nash some rest,” Barbosa said. Despite Barbosa playing six minutes, Nash still occupied 46 minutes in the game.

Bobbitt played his first 5 games of the season starting at the shooting guard spot when Kobe was injured. In those 5 games, the rookie averaged 6.6ppg and 4.6apg. The Lakers ar e1-5 since Kobe was injured against the Nuggets. They are taking a serious hurt trying to make the playoffs as they are now 5 games out of the 8th spot. Lamar Odom will have to carry the load all the way til' the end of hte season because Kobe will be out for another 3 weeks.

Phoenix have taken an early 2-0 start for the month of April and are gaining between the rest of the league for best record. Joe Johnson is now scheduled to come back alot later than expected. Shawn Marion and Co. are 3-0 in the month of April

PHOENIX, April 5 (Ticker) –- Amare Stoudemire continued to overpower anyone in his way. Stoudemire had 27 points and 7 rebounds on 11-13 shooting from the field for the Suns that moved Phoenix to 3-0 in the month of April. “I felt that I didn’t perform as well as I should have in the first half,” Stoudemire said. “I took it upon myself in the 2nd half to make sure we got this win because we really needed it. Amare scored 12 of his 27 points in the 3rd quarter, which was the quarter that set the tone for the rest of the game. The Lakers were surprisingly leading in the game after the first half with a 62-60 lead, but Phoenix coach Mike D’Antoni rallied the troops in the locker room. “He told us that we shouldn’t be losing right now,” Suns guard Quentin Richardson said. “He was very mad about the way we were executing on the floor and it just made us work harder in the 2nd half.” There was nothing the Lakers center Brian Grant could do with Stoudemire in the paint. “He is a lot better than I expected,” Grant said. “His athleticism is amazing and the fact that he really didn’t have no height or size advantage over me made it even much harder to believe.”

Caron Butler was a huge spark for the Lakers tonight, as he scored 33 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. “I knew I had to step my game up with Kobe out,” Butler said. “We are still in the playoff hunt and without him, we need other players to step up so we can catch up with Denver.” Butler played the most minutes of the team logging in 41 tonight. Lamar Odom was one rebound shy of a double-double against the Suns, but he didn’t step up like most people figured he would. He took only 13 shots and scored 15 points in the game. It was all Butler in the first half who led the Lakers in an 8-2 run at the end of the 2nd quarter to give them the two point lead heading into intermission.

“Butler played great for his team tonight,” Suns coach Mike D’Antoni said. “Our game plan was really focused on Odom tonight, and Butler kind of caught us off guard.” After the first half, the game belong to Phoenix all the way. The Suns held the Lakers to just 16 points in the 3rd quarter after they scored 30 and 32 in the previous two quarters. Caron was just held to 12 points in the 2nd half as well. After that, the Lakers couldn’t find no one to go to on offense. Shawn Marion and Steve Nash scored 21 points apiece for the Suns while both put in double-doubles in their own respected way. Nash dished out 10 assists, and Marion grabbed 12 rebounds in the game. “They will be a tough team to handle in the playoffs,” Lakers guard Chucky Atkins said who scored 9 points tonight.

SUNS VS. WARRIORS
Arena in Oakland, Oakland, 7:30 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Suns, 57-17; Warriors, 20-55.
INJURY REPORT Phoenix- Joe Johnson (broken bone in wrist) out indefinitely

KEY MATCHUP: QUENTIN RICHARDSON VS. JASON RICHARDSON
With new running buddy Baron Davis, Jason Richardson has become a better player because he now recieves less attention on the court. Quentin Richardson will have to watch for J-Rich explosiveness to the basket. He can also knock it down from long range when he needs to. J-Rich has had some very big games this season for the Warriors and can go for 30 on any given night.

INSIDE THE SUNS
Phoenix continues to roll in the month of March and no team has stopped them yet. There are 8 games left in the month of April for Phoenix and 6 of those games are back-to-back which can cause some problems heading into the postseason. It can also increase injury chances and cause fatigue problems. Barbosa is now 100% healthy and will expect to get alot more action in tonight's game.

INSIDE THE WARRIORS
Golden State is still sporting the worse record in the league at 20-55. On paper, their roster looks really good which is the main reason why they are waiting on next season to try and make some noise. Tonight will be the battle of the best record vs. the worse record.

OAKLAND, Calif., April 8 (Ticker) – “It feels great to have at least one guy back.” That is what Phoenix Suns coach Mike D’Antoni said after they crushed the Warriors in Oakland. “Barbosa came in and did a great job off the bench for us, and we needed his production with the way our bench has been struggling,” D’Antoni said. Barbosa whipped in 6 points and 5 assists in just 12 minutes of play off the bench. “With me going out there the past couple of games really helped me for tonight because I was in shape,” Barbosa said. The main story of the game was Quentin Richardson, who knocked down 31 points to help the Suns blowout the Warriors 124-90. “This was probably one of my best games this season,” Richardson said. “Many people were looking at me guarding Jason, but they didn’t look at Jason guarding me.”

Quentin Richardson dominated 2nd quarter, keeping the Warriors away from making a comeback. He scored 14 of his 31 points in that quarter and sparked a 7-1 run late in the quarter that gave Phoenix the advantage, leading after the first half. “Q did a great job shooting the ball well tonight, we focused on him a lot because he was our best guard option,” Coach D’Antoni said. Q shot 12-21 from the field, 2-4 from three point range and 5-6 from the line. The other Richardson on Golden State side, didn’t have such a shabby night either. He scored 25 points on 9-17 shooting, but in the 3rd quarter, he had no points, which was the turn around of the game.

Golden State was held to just 9 points in the 3rd quarter, as the Suns went off with 31 points. “Our defense really turned it on during that quarter,” Stoudemire said who scored 29 points for the Suns. “I was surprised myself at what happened in the quarter because they do have two all-star caliber players on their team.” The Warriors only made one field goal in the 3rd quarter, while the other points came from the free throw line. “We really struggled in the 2nd half and that hurt us for having a chance at winning the game,” Dunleavy Jr. said. “It’s just one of those things that has been going on for the whole season and hopefully we can regroup next season.” Dunleavy and Baron Davis scored 21 points apiece for the Warriors who just had three players in double figures. Steve Nash and Jim Jackson had 19 apiece for the Suns, while Marion put in 11 points to go along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
