Marion didn't have enough highlight dunks in order for the Suns to get the victory

MIAMI, March 25 (Ticker) -- Wade had 20 points 2-2 from three point range. The Heat clinched the Southeast Division title and moved to the number two spot in the Eastern Conference with the win against Phoenix. Wade had his usual array of spectacular aerials around the basket -- but how he capped the fourth quarter was the big highlight. He stoled the ball from Steve Nash, spinned past Walter McCarty at midcourt and put down a highlight reel dunk that put the Miami crowd on their feet. "It felt real good when the crowd got behind me," Wade said.

"It's always good to win something," said Wade, who also grabbed 5 rebounds in the game. "Last year, we felt like we didn't win anything. To win a division title with a lot of games left, it's a great feeling." Shaquille O'Neal had 12 of his 15 points in the 2nd half and Damon Jones added 17 points and a season-high 15 assists for Miami (46-24), which won its 19th game out of 21 games and claimed its first division title since the 1999-00 season. Amare Stoudemire led Phoenix (51-17) with 26 points, Shawn Marion added 21 and Steve Nash had 22 points and 13 assists. “We didn't get enough stops," Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni said. "I thought we scored enough probably to be in the game but we didn't stop them. They hit shots and Wade went off.

There was no celebration for the Heat afterward; Eddie Jones didn't even know the game sealed the division. Clearly, Miami has its sights on bigger goals. "None of those titles mean anything to me unless it's the big one. ... I want to end the date correctly. I want to end the date with a smash," O'Neal said. Miami led by as many as 14 in the final quarter, before Marion scored 8 points in a 15-2 Phoenix run that drew the Suns to 96-90 with 2:52 left. But O'Neal slammed home a miss by Wade with 2:25 left, and the Heat hung the battle of two of the best teams in the league. "You'd be lying if you said it was just one of 82 games," Richardson said. "Everyone knows there's pride on the line. We want to show that we can play with them, especially late in the season like this."

"I thought we started the game in the first quarter and probably played the best quarter of defense we played all year," said Heat coach Stan Van Gundy, whose team led 26-23 after one period. "And we made that lead stand up with our offense the rest of the way." could come out of the East, so if we make it to the Finals we could be playing them."

GAME NOTES
Damon Jones was two assists shy of a career-high in assists with 15 . With the Nasdaq-100 Open going on in nearby Key Biscayne, plenty of tennis greats -- including Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Boris Becker and Maria Sharapova -- were in the crowd, as were football stars Willis McGahee and Warren Sapp, plus hip-hop mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.

SUNS VS. MAGIC
TD WaterHouse Centre, Orlando, 5:00 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Suns, 50-16; Magic, 33-35.
INJURY REPORT Phoenix- Joe Johnson (broken bone in wrist) out indefinitely; Leandrosa Barbosa (broken toe) out indefinitely Orland- Hedo Turkoglu (sprained foot) out indefinitely

KEY MATCHUP: STEVE NASH VS. STEVE FRANCIS
Francis is one of the few players in the league averaging 15,5,5. Another play is his teammate Grant Hill. Francis quickness with the ball can cause problems for Nash. Steve Nash may not have one of thse easy nights off because Francis can be physical when he wants to.

INSIDE THE SUNS
Phoenix will be in Florida for the remainder of their road trip as they face the Orlando Magic tomorrow night. The Suns are coming off a win against two of the weakest teams in the league, so the Suns should be rested for this game.

INSIDE THE MAGIC
Orlando is fighting for the last spot in the playoffs with them the Cavaliers tied with them. The Magic are on a 3-game winning streak, and the Cavs lost three straight games which really helped the Magic into the 8th spot. Orlando is 7-3 in their last 10 games.

Richardson scored 21 points in the Suns final road game of this week

ORLANDO, Fla., March 26 (Ticker) -- Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns displayed the sense of urgency that the Orlando Magic needed. Nash had 27 points and 10 assists and directed the offense down the stretch as the Suns held on for a 113-107 victory over the Magic, who moved to the 9th spot in the playoff race for the 8th spot. Jim Jackson had a season-high 27 points and 7 assists and Quentin Richardson scored 21 points for the Suns (52-17), who bounced back from Friday's loss at Miami and kept their number one seed in the league.

"These are games you would like to have to give yourself a chance to get the best record," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "From that standpoint, we were looking at it as though we needed to win this one." As has been the case all season, they were led by Nash, the All-Star point guard who makes all the right decisions. He helped Phoenix build an 14-point advantage midway through the fourth quarter, then nursed it to the final buzzer. "We really didn't show up at all in the first half," Nash said. "We really challenged ourselves at halftime to try and close the trip out right. I thought we saw a big change in our attitude in the second half." Nash scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws for a 100-95 lead with 4:28 left. His penetration and pass set up Jim Jackson for a three pointer that made it 108-102 with 1:05 to go.

"I've been asked questions referring to him (Nash) as MVP," Magic interim coach Chris Jent said. "That's what MVPs do; they carry their teams. That's the mark of a great player." After a free throw by Orlando's rookie Jameer Nelson, Nash made one of his four three pointers with 42 seconds left. That was just enough for Phoenix, which never let the Magic get no closer than five points in the final minute. We kept fighting," said Christie, who scored 23 points for the Magic. "We had the chance to run away with the game earlier when we led going into halftime." Despite just 16 points from foul-plagued All-Star Amare Stoudemire, the Suns shot 55 percent (45-of-82) from the field and improved to a league-best 28-8 on the road. "We came out with a little more intensity (in the second half)," said Stoudemire, who took just seven shots. "This was the last game of a road trip and that's usually the hardest game to win. After the tough game last night against Miami, we had to focus in."

Steve Francis scored 22 points and Hill added 17 for the Magic (33-36), who battled but 4th time in 11 games. They fell a half game back in the loss column behind Cleveland in the race for the Eastern Conference's final playoff berth. "Despite our loss, I thought we still played hard," Francis said. "If we can play hard like that the last 14 games ... someone's going to give us a break."

lol, mccarty usually provide the scoring load for me off the bench, but he sucked in that game.

I'm heading into the final stretch as I am just two games away from the last month of the season. Just to give you a heads up on some things, the playoffs will be something nice to read and also you can expect a GREAT OFFSEASON and you will see some INTERESTING things as well.

I will try to post the Denver game in the next few minutes.

Stoudemire and the Suns are looking good heading into the month of April

PHOENIX, March 28 (Ticker) -- Even without the bench scoring no points, the Phoenix Suns still were able to deliver another message to the Denver Nuggets. With the starts scoring all 105 points, the Suns relied on nothing but five weapons in an entertaining 105-101 victory over the Nuggets. In what may have been a preview of a possible first-round playoff matchup, the Suns improved to 3-0 against the Nuggets, who entered the contest in the 8th spot. "Hopefully this kills a bit of their confidence," said Suns G/F Quentin Richardson, who made 8-of-15 shots and scored 20 points. "I was talking to (Andre) Miller after the game and he said he hopes they play us in the first round and my question was, 'Why? We beat you three times and tonight we beat you without one of our starters.' I didn't get an answer."

After Earl Boykins' layup with 3:45 remaining pulled the Nuggets within 95-93, Jackson and Nash combined for the last 10 points in an 10-6 run as the Suns took over down the stretch, looking very much like a team fighting for the NBA's best record. Jackson drilled a jumper and 3-pointer 40 seconds apart, tying the game giving the Suns a 100-97 lead with 1:45 left. After a couple of missed possessions, Carmelo Anthony finally made a layup to put Denver within‘ one point, Nash hit a three and Jackson nailed another jumperwith 33 seconds to go, giving Phoenix the lead for good. "I feel real confident with the ball in my hand and wanted to be aggressive," said Jackson, who made 5-of-12 shots. "I was really taking it upon myself. They backed down and gave me my shot and taking it when I was there."

"We had the game in my opinion then Jim Jackson was like the quiet assassin out there," Anthony said. "He had like six straight points for his team in crunchtime." Shawn Marion had 23 points and 15 rebounds and Stoudemire scored 23 points for the Suns (53-17), who moved two games ahead of San Antonio for the Western Conference's best record. Anthony and Andre Miller scored 24 points apiece to pace five players in double figures for Denver. "We squandered some points in the first half, we had some mental breakdowns," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "In the fourth quarter we just beat them up. This is what it's going to take; our attitude and just be tougher."

Denver (36-33), which would meet Phoenix in the first round of the playoffs if the season ended Monday, is four games ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers for the Western Conference's final postseason berth. "Whoever we play, we play," D'Antoni said. "I could make a case of every team we want (to play) and every team we don't want. It's just about the Suns. If we play well, that is all we have to worry about." Voshon Lenard scored 17 for the Nuggets, while Kenyon Martin scored 18 points and grabbed 8 boards. Denver's bench outscored the Suns bench just 8-0.
