Los Angeles Lakers @ Boston Celtics

This game was close right from the start. Bryant and Odom started the game well, shooting very well from the field. Midway in the quarter, a run led by Payton and Davis put the Celtics ahead by 8 points. Lafrentz controlled the offensive rebounds and Blount made some defensive gem, blocking 3 shots in this quarter. Celtics led by 9 points, 26-17. In the 2nd quarter, Celtics’ bench held they ground against the Lakers starter. With Odom and Bryant scoring 8 points each in this quarter, they still unable to put the Lakers ahead. Banks and Welsch led the Celtics in protecting their lead. Celtics still led by 49-41 at halftime break.

Lakers struggled in this quarter which helped the Celtics extended their lead to 16 points. Both Odom and Bryant shot very poor in this quarter. If not for Mihm, who scored 7 points, this game should be a blowout. The score was 71-59 after 3 quarters. Bryant then tried to lead a comeback in the last period. Scoring 11 points, he successfully brought back the Lakers within 6 points. But the Celtics were determined to win this and avenged their lost at Staples. Pierce did the scoring for the Celtics while Blount took care at defensive side. He finished with 11 rebounds and 8 blocks. Celtics win this one, 95-88.

This was another game in which Bryant struggled in the 1st quarter. But this time, Lakers got a good game from Butler, scoring 9 points while Mihm scored 7 points. Mavs were led by Finley with 6 points but Nowitzki struggled with just 2 points while Harris has already called for 2 quick foul.
From a 21-20 scored, Lakers made an 8-0 run that bridges the 1st and 2nd quarter to put the Lakers ahead by 9 points. Lakers starters used a balance scoring with Mihm (13); Butler (11) and Odom (9) and Atkins (5) to put the Lakers ahead by 47-42 despite Bryant only had 2 points.

In the 3rd quarter, Bryant recovered from his bad 1st half performance and caught fire. He scored 16 points to help the Lakers maintained their 5 point lead. Bryant continued his scoring in the 4th period and single-handedly put the game away from the Mavs. He scored 30 of his 32 points in the 2nd half to bag player of the game honor.

Mihm took on the scoring down low, scoring 7 points. Lakers led by 10, 25-15 at the end of 1st period. Lakers successfully protected their lead in the 2nd quarter again using a balance scoring. They still lead by 9 points, 44-35.

In the 3rd period, both team traded baskets which helped the Lakers maintain their lead. Bryant again had a great 2nd half performance scoring 11 points in this quarter. Pacers then made a run in the 4th quarter and tied the game at 76 a piece. They even held a 2 point lead for about a minute and forced the Lakers catching up. But Bryant took over and put the Lakers back in the lead. He also sank free-throws down the stretch to seal the Lakers victory.

The game was close most of the 1st period, with the biggest lead of both team was 4 points. Bobby Simmons came off the bench to pace the Clippers with 8 points while Odom also tallied 8 points for the Lakers. The Clips lead 26-24 after the 1st quarter. The game was still close most the 2nd period. Clippers lead 48-43 at halftime.

In the 2nd period, the Clips tried to pull away and extended their lead to 13 points. Things get worse for the Lakers when Odom went down with an arm injury with 1 and a half minute left in the 3rd period. The Clips were leading 72-61 at the time. They held to the lead and the 3rd period ended with the score of 72-63. Lakers led by Bryant made a run to bring back the Lakers in the game. Odom returned in the 4th quarter but was not as effective with his early injury still bothering him. The Clippers were ahead comfortably when Bryant tried one last run. In the stretch he made 3 straight baskets, 2 from downtown. Clips saw their 11 point lead down to 2 and the Lakers have the possessions to tie the game or win it by a 3 point shot. The play gave Bryant an open lane but elected to pass to an open Odom in the post. Odom goes for a lay-up but missed it as time expires. Clippers won 92-90.

It’s another close game for the Los Angeles Lakers. Both team shots poorly in this period. Butler had a great start for the Lakers scoring 6 points and perfect from the field. Finley paced the Mavs with 7 points Nowitzki again struggled against the Lakers. Mavs were ahead 22-20 after 1 quarter. In the next period, Odom and Bryant joined Butler in scoring. With only Finley having a good game, Mavs trailed in the 2nd period. At halftime, Lakers held a 47-42 advantage.

In the 2nd half, Nowitzki scored 7 points which gave the Mavs another scoring option. With Nowitzki back on track, other Mavs like Howard and Dampier get open and have easier time to score. They cut the deficit to 2 after the 3rd quarter. Lakers then struggled defensively and allowed the Mavs to take the lead in the last period. The game was still close but this time Lakers were trailing. With 5.2 seconds left and trailing by 3, Lakers drew a play for Bryant for a 3-point shot. He successfully shook of his defender but missed the 3-point shot. Another game lost for the Lakers.

With 2 games losing streak and both game were decided on the last shot, Bryant made a promise to put the game away as early as 3rd period. In the 1st period, Bryant was aggressive shooting the baskets and going to the hole. He already scored 18 points to put the Lakers ahead by 9 after 1 period. But when he goes to the bench for a quick rest, his teammate gone cold and struggled shooting. Bobcats took advantage of this. They rallied the deficit and took the lead for good at the end of the half; Mihm also went down with a foot injury with less than a minute left.

Lakers found out that Mihm will unable to come for the remaining of the game. Without Mihm, Lakers continued to struggle despite Bryant scoring 12 points in this quarter. The Bobcats extended their lead to 6 at the end of the 3rd canto. Bryant along with Odom made an early run to tie the game at 90-90. Lakers then made a 12-6 run to put the Lakers ahead by 6, 102-96. But Bobcats, trying to avoid another collapse against the Lakers, made a 5-0 run to put the Bobcats within 1 point. Bryant then sank 2 free throws with 2.2 seconds left. Without a timeout, Wallace made a half-court pass to Okafor and tried a desperation shot. II only hit the backboard as time expires. Another Lakers’ game decided on the last basket but this time, the Lakers on the winning side.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Washington Wizards

After scoring a season-high 56 points against the Bobcats, Bryant continued his hot shooting in this game. He already had 11 points to put the Lakers ahead in the 1st period, 27-18. Odom added 10 points. In the 2nd period, Lakers pull away as they build a 20 point lead. It was Lakers great team defense to limit the Wizards below 40% shooting in the field. They held a 53-37 advantage at halftime break.

Wizards weren’t able to cut the Lakers deficit as they only traded baskets and runs in this quarter, After 3 quarters, the Lakers still leading, this time by 18 points, 79-61. In the last period, Bryant continued his scoring while also doing some rebounding and passing. He successfully tallied a triple double with less than 2 minutes left. Lakers held on to the lead for another win.

Lakers continued to lead in this game but the Sixers now controlled the game. Before the 3rd quarter end, the Sixers were able to tie the game. The quarter end with both team knotted at 75 a piece. Sixers then took the lead and able to build their biggest lead at 6 points. The Lakers tried to catch up but with almost 3 minute left in the game, Bryant got injured and was out for the remaining of the game. INJURY REPORT

Los Angeles Lakers @ Miami Heat

This game was the anticipated rematch of Shaq and Bryant. Lakers won that game held last Christmas Day. Ironically O’Neal played that game with an injury. This time Bryant now will play with an arm injury.

Heat first possession was a successful alley-oops pass by Jones to O’Neal. Bryant didn’t show any sign of his injury when he made 2 straight 3-poinrters. He finished the 1st quarter with 8 points to lead the Lakers to a 29-23 lead. Ex-Lakers Shaq and Walton led a Heat run in the 2nd period to put the Heat in the driver’s seat at halftime.

Wade then joined O’Neal and they put the Heat lead to double digits in the 3rd period. Heat dominated this quarter with only Bryant put a great number in the 3rd period. Heat now lead by 10, 81-71 with 1 quarter left to play. Lakers then made a run in this quarter and able to make it a close game. With 13.1 seconds left, Heat led by 3, 112-109, Walton made his 2 free-throws to make it a 2 game possessions ballgame. In the next possession, Lakers missed their 3-point shot and Heat grabbed the rebound and dribbled it until time expires, Heat win this game and Shaq even his personal series, 1-1 against Bryant.

Bryant decided to rest his injury against the Pacers. He should rest it against the Heat but he decided to play with injury and faced the Big Diesel.

Lakers looked they didn’t missed Bryant as they got to a good start. Butler scored the first 7 points of Lakers. Lakers led almost the entire quarter until a late run by Pacers to tie the game at 25-25 at the end of this quarter. The game was still a close game throughout the 2nd period.

In the 3rd period, O’Neal scored 12 points while Millerl added 10 which helped the Pacers built an 11 point lead. But Lakers made a run to cut the deficit to 6, 83-77 in the end of this quarter. 4th quarter was a high scoring game. Lakers able to tie the game at 90-90 but the Pacers recovered and build another 7 point lead. Miller scored 17 big points in this quarter and helped the Pacers win this game.
