Brad's got attitude! I hope you don't release him; he'll be a good "side show" for your team.

waaay too much Braditude for a 38th pick rook with absolutely nothing to show for... actually, don't know why K-Mart would even waste a breath getting worked up when he should just pity da foo! :mrt:

yank the release lever on that dead-weight clown already

"Douchebag" is a more descriptive way to call him.

Yeah, with Dirk gone, they need a leader, too bad Dirk wasn't arrogant (well at least I don't think so).
Hyperize. wrote:Start Ray Ray's ass. For as much of a Battier fan I am, I'm pretty sure that Kevin Martin's capable of taking over at small forward.

Think of the trouble Battier will give players like 'Melo, Kobe, LeBron etc. That's why I'm starting him. I start Ray, the only defense I have in my starters is Yao.

He's taking up too much space in my roster, and causing too much stress in my players. I think I'll consider it.

The acquisition of Brad was just a last minute trade I did. Since I already had 15 players, and was about to take the 60th pick, a last minute trade did the trick, as the Grizzlies got the last pick in the draft. :cheeky: But for the sake of keeping the stories interesting, I might not release him.

That's a nice nickname. (Y) He could be a second round gem, just look at Monta Ellis (he was taken at 40th!). K-Mart was just sticking up for his team, because to K-Mart, any insult to the work he put into a championship will surely anger him.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! First game against the T-Wolves today. Recap is next.

Rockets lift off strong! [1-0]

Sat Aug 14, 2010 5:04 am

Rockets start the season strong!

Houston Rockets 98-82 Minnesota Timberwolves

Image
Ray Allen provided a solid 17 points off the bench, but on a mediocre 7/18 from the field. He also struggled to find his rhythm at the line at only 3/5.

The Rockets kicked off the season strong, destroying the T-Wolves in the season opener. Both teams started with trading buckets, but the Rockets went on a 9-0 run, and pulled away in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Rockets shut down the Wolves defensively, holding them scoreless for three minutes, and pulling a 13-4 run, setting out to a 23 point lead. Carlos Boozer was not feeling it, and the Rockets' defense held him to only 8 points. Chris Bosh however, lit up and scored 24. The Rockets were strong, and showed that they are in fact a championship team. Yao, K-Mart, AB, Ray-Ray, and Lowry scored in double digits, as the Rockets kick off their season on a high note.

Next, are the Kings, whom are 1-0 as well, and the Rockets will see for themselves if the Evans-Amar'e combo can penetrate through their tough defense.

Good way to start the season! Boozer and Bosh on the same team? Is Booze playing the C for Minnesota? Good to see Ray Ray beasting things up and that Brad dude is a real dick.

I think Allen can play SF as well.

A False Apology

"The Rockets win their season opener with a bang! Kevin Martin proved that his scoring title wasn't a fluke." concluded Bill Worell after the Rockets' strong season opener. "Well ladies and gentlemen there you have it, the reigning champions take it 98-82. Next we head to Sacramento for another exciting game, so until then, see ya."

"Great job team. We played very well, but Yao, I'm a little concerned about your rebounding, 4 rebounds from you is just unacceptable," said a beaming Rick Adelman. "Sorry coach, I promise to rebound better at Sacramento." replied Yao. "Anyways, I want everybody on the team bus in half an hour, pack your bags, and let's get to the hotel," said Rick Adelman, ending the team talk.

After changing clothes and getting ready, Kevin Martin was the first one out of the locker room, behind Rick Adelman. He exited the Target Center, and found Brad Halstead leaning against a wall, lighting a cigarette. Remembering what happened a few days before, Kevin went to apologize. "Hey look man, I'm sorry about what happened the other day at practice, that was cocky behavior on my behalf. We cool right?" said Kevin Martin.

"No, I should be sorry," replied Brad. "Why?" asked Martin, knowing the answer, but wanting to see if Brad really isn't as arrogant as he thought. "I should be sorry.... for being traded to a garbage team!" yelled Brad, taking a puff from his cigarette. "If I hadn't been traded, what went on at practice would've never happened. I would probably be getting some playing time in Memphis," a cold Brad said, then walked away.

On the team bus, K-Mart sat next to Yao, whom was slowly falling asleep. "Yao, what do you think about that Brad kid?" Kevin asked. Yao came to his senses, and said, "Ignore him man, he's not worth it. I think he's just mad for being on a team where he can't get playing time. I don't think he'll last long on this team", said Yao, leaning his head back and drifting off for a short nap. Brad was sitting at the back of the bus, he had ditched his cigarette, and was listening to his mp3.

When the bus arrived at the hotel, Rick Adelman assembled the team together, but Yao saw Brad sneak behind the bus, and head into an alley. "Alright, we have one day of rest before playing our next game. I will see if I can reserve time for practice at Arco Arena tomorrow. Just get plenty of rest, and be ready for our flight tommorrow." The team parted ways, as Yao saw Brad disappear into the alley.

Yeah, Boozer is C. Ray Ray is a beast, it's just so easy to score with him.

Ray can play SF, but he would be undersized.

Chris Bosh being the only one giving an effort was the main reason I won by that margin. Brad's as much trouble as the Superstar difficulty.

Andrew beat me to it, but yeah it's retired. I changed it though, Jeffries is now #1, and Ray is #20. Just pretend he's wearing #20 in that screenshot!

2-game Recap

[1-0] Houston Rockets 103-92 Sacramento Kings [1-0]

Image
Yao did a better job of of rebounding this game, scoring 14 and grabbing 8.

A full chunk of this game appeared to be garbage time for the Rockets. They had a 20-point lead at halftime. The Kings battled back, but the Rockets' organized defense did not allow them to wittle down this deficit, and the Kings were down by 19 heading into the third. The Rockets brought forth their bench, and though the bench didn't do a good job offensively in the 4th, scoring only 14 4th quarter points, they held on. Speaking of bench, Ray Allen scored 20 points off the bench, proving to be a big contender for the 6th man award. Tyreke Evans did not have a great game, and was held to 11 points. Amar'e Stoudemire had a monster game, with 30 points and 15 rebounds. Raymond Felton scored 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Martin however, came away with the performer of the game award.

Big Ben is sure to give the Kings the defensive presence that Spencer Hawes fails to give.

[2-0] Houston Rockets 108-101 Los Angeles Clippers [0-2]

The huge game by Baron was what kept the Clippers alive in this game.

This was the hardest fought game of the season so far for the Rockets. A huge 39-point game by Baron Davis had them throwing random defenders at him. The first quarter started with the Rockets going up by 8, with Baron Davis scoring the first 9 points for the Clips. A three by Travis Outlaw ended that however. The Clippers began the second quarter on an 8-0 run, and the Clippers eventually went up by 7, however, the Rockets battled back with a 10-0 run of their own, finishing the quarter being up by 3. The Rockets showed their best offense in the 3rd quarter, scoring 31 points, never looking back, but in the fourth quarter the Clippers came within threes, but by getting to the line very often in the fourth, the Rockets succeeded with their third consecutive win this season.

Baron Davis was the performer of the game. Aaron Brooks shot a dismal 4/13 from the field, still managing to score 13, and dishing out 12. Shane Battier had a breakout game, with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Yao Ming and Kevin Martin also scored in double figures, scoring 20 and 28 respectively. Ray Allen was held to a quiet night, only scoring 7 points.
