Wow nice NYK logo and jerseys I like it (Y) Bad luck you landed 4th in the draft though :( but you can still pick a good young gun with potential. Hope it will be a SF

Fri Jun 23, 2006 12:47 am

Tough luck on only getting the 4th pick, those Jerseys are really nice, I especially like the Alt on that Q-Rich is wearing (Y)

Fri Jun 23, 2006 1:29 am

Nice logo man!!

Didn't really thought they're gonna be so good!!!

Strange Toronto getting 1st pick once again...

Fri Jun 23, 2006 1:41 am

Hey men ... i like your knicks jerseys

and i think you gonna have a great draft ...

im my dynasty i drafted 12º one of my best PG .. its 70 overall

Fri Jun 23, 2006 3:31 am

well 4th isn't so bad, btw nice logo!

Fri Jun 23, 2006 4:01 am

Awesome logo  . I love the skyline idea, awesome jerseys too, good luck in the offseason.

Fri Jun 23, 2006 4:09 am

Woot Martell Webster rookie 1st team <cheers>

Hm... the new logo is definitely interesting. I don't like the full name Knickerbockers on there, that's the thing I'd probably change if it were me. The blue jersey is "eh", but the one that's more orange is (Y)(Y)

Fri Jun 23, 2006 4:50 am

Thank you for your comments. I know the logo is a matter of taste.
But I think it is hard to invent a complete new logo.
I thought this would be easy with Photoshop.
But it is very difficult since you never think its perfect and it took about two weeks for me to complete the logo.

Fri Jun 23, 2006 5:38 am

Ayo! that is really nice man, you did alot of good things here and
a good collab, this has to be one of the best dynastys. keepitup.

New York, June, 28th

The NBA Draft day is over and it was as exciting as always.
The Toronto Raptors used the number one draft pick to get Adam Morrison, the Gonzaga topscorer.
"We were pretty sure about him when we won the lottery" Bryan Colangelo said after the draft.
The 2nd player drafted is Tyrus Thomas by the Bobcats.
"I am very happy about that, I like the fact that this team is young and has big potential", Thomas claimed.
LaMarcus Aldridge, also a potential number one candidate was drafted 3rd overall by the Wizards.
The New York Knicks, clearly in search of an athletic forward were pretty happy with Rudy Gay with the 4th pick.
"We had four players in mind before the draft and he was still available, so we took him. Gay is definitely one of the hardest working players in this draft, that is what we need", GM Hov said.
The Lakers took Marcus Williams with the 5th pick and everybody applauded.
"They needed a solid point guard who can control their offense, and they got one", NBA expert Kenny Smith said.
The highest picked European was Andrea Bargnani. The Jazz used their number six pick to take him.
The Orlando Magic chose Brandon Roy at number seven.
The Boston Celtics took sharpshooter JJ Redick with their number eight pick.
At number nine the Hawks suprised everyone with picking Saer Sene from Senegal. A player who has big potential though.
And at number ten Hilton Armstrong got picked by the Seattle Supersonics.
Take a look at the complete draft below.

Now let´s analyse the better and weaker picks of the 2006 NBA draft.

Best Three

Image

Going into the draft pretty disappointed, because they were the big looseres of the lottery (beside the Knicks), the Lakers did the best they could do. They picked Marcus Williams, maybe the big deal for L.A..
Williams is a tremendous playmaker, is able to shoot the three and won´t have any problems with Kobe´s selfish game.
Their 2nd pick, Cedric Simmons (32nd) makes their draft even better.
He is a post player, who can block shots and scorer under the basket.
Although he seems similar to Andrew Bynum, he is way quicker and has better footwork. This makes the Lakers draft maybe the best this season.

Image

Well they had the number one pick, but they used it maybe the best way they could.
Adam Morrison fits perfectly into this team. A team, which had no real outside scorer before. He has a more than solid jumper and has prooven himself as a big time scorer.
Thabo Sefolosha is a a big talent. He will need his time to make it, but the young two-guard from Switzerland should be able to improve his game.
Morrison´s pick alone is better than the draft of many other teams.

Image

The Hornets made the playoffs and had a great draft?
Oh yes. Rodney Carney (24th) is a top 10 player. Rumours about his lack of strenght really let him fall down. And the Hornets took their chance.
He is a very fast player with great perimetre defense and is able to drive.
He can get way better than Desmond Mason.
Their other pick, Pops Mensah-Bonsu could be a star. His body is made for sport, he has great athleticism. If they manage to train his fundamentals he will develope into a very good player. And he can show some highlight dunks.

Other good drafts: Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers

Worst Three

Image

The Nets have one of the biggest frontcourt problems of the league.
But instead of drafting players like Patrick O`Bryant (30th by HOU) or the brasilians Marcus Vinicius (18th by MIA) they chose Mardy Collins.
A very very good player, but he is a combo-guard and the Nets have two All-Star one their guard positions.
Their other pick James Augustine (42nd) is a big man, but they could have drafted a better one. One of the weaker drafts.

Image

The Celtics drafted JJ Redick. A very good player, especially a shooter.
But they have a lot of players, who can shoot. With Szczerbiak or Pierce or even Delonte West. The Celtics needed a big man to boost they frontcourt, and players like Shelden Williams and Hilton Armstrong were still in the field.
Their other pick, Matt Haryasz is a defense only pick, and has no big future in the NBA. Definitely a bad draft.

Image

A bad draft by the Warriors. Sounds familiar.
With their number 12 pick the chose Jordan Farmer. Well, Jordan Farmer is a clone of Baron Davis. For sure weaker, since he is a rookie.
The Warriors have a backup point guard in Derek Fisher.
Surely not the best decision to draft a playmaker.
Their 2nd pick, Bobby Brown (45th), is a typical 2nd round pick, a trade filling player.
Pick twelve and such a bad draft, definitely worst.

Other weak drafts: Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs

Look at Knicks draft

The New York Knicks had a pretty good draft. Rudy Gay was one of their favorites. He is an very explosive gifted athlete and has the right working ethic. Definitely the right choice.
With their 2nd round pick, GM Hov pulled a rabbit out of his hat.
Ryan Hollins. A 7-footer with his ups in his explosiveness and his athleticism. A very high jumping guy able to block shot and grab boards.
But he has one main problem. His strenght. He gets pushed around under the basket quite often and is not the best low post player since he can´t post up properly. A risky pick, not really, since it was pick number 30. But if Hollins doesn´t manage to improve his body it will turn out as a bad pick for the Knicks.

Very interesting draft. But I wanted to see Adam Morrison in New York :( Although Rudy Gay is a good choice.
Good analysis of the draft, it is very wise pick for the lakers, also I'm sure Morrison will do good in Toronto

Thank you, if Thomas had been in the pool i would have taken him, but I am satisfied with Rudy.

Thanks, well Morrison was a candidate, but I think I would have gone with Thomas, because of his athleticism. And yes, I also think Morrison fits perfectly into the Raptors lineup.

Maybe the Pistons should have been a little bit more generous with a four-time All-Star and a four-time Defensive Player Of The Year.
After resigning Tayshaun Prince to save their future, and Kelvin Cato to keep the bench alive, Pistons GM Joe Dumars seemed to miscalculated a bit.
And ended up with Ben Wallace
not resigning.
And just two days later the Bobcats announced a new member:
Ben Wallace.
Rumours say he will earn about 12 million dollar for two years, but the terms were not disclosed by the Bobcats officials.
I didn´t think the Pistons want to keep me without any means, they did not show enough respect. Charlotte is a young upcoming team, they added some good players (Tyrus Thomas, Raul Lopez) and needed an experienced big man, here I am!", "Big Ben" said to the press. His new number will be the #5.

ImageImageImage

The Toronto Raptors gladly announced a new member of the organization.
Toronto signed Mike Dunleavy Jr. after he did not resign with the Warriors.
Dunleavy, who averaged 20.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last season got signed to add some new competition on the Small Forward position. With him and number one draft pick Adam Morrison the Raptors have to new strong shooter, something the team lacked last season.
The contract will run only for one year (4.69M).

ImageImageImage

The New Orleans Hornets were able to sign Drew Gooden. The four-year veteran signed a three year contract (17.38M) two days ago.
After a season of injury last year with the Cavs, where Gooden was only able to play 13 games and then lost his place in the starting five, the forward tried to find a team where he has starting chances.
The Hornets guaranteed him a place in the starting five, although David West is still on their roster. A trade seems to be inescapable.

ImageImageImage

After the signing of Mike Dunleavy Jr., the Toronto Raptors organization welcomed another new member, Kareem Rush.
The Charlotte young gun, who played an excellent season last year (17.9 PPG) signed a 5 year contract and will earn 6.2M per year.
After one season of rookies, the Raptors are glad to see a experienced two-guard in their lineup. He will start over Morrison in the first games.
Joey Graham will have problems to get playing time.
Rush will wear the #5.

wow Ben signing with the Cats, the same as in my dynasty.
And I like very much Hornets new player Drew Gooden, I think he will do good in New Orleans.
And Toronto used their money, not very wisely, but they must be stroger than previous year
