EAST All-Stars vs. WEST All-Stars

After East won the jumpball, Iverson quickly attempted a jumper, he missed but O’Neal grabbed the offensive rebound and goes for a slam. In the next possession, Bryant drove to the basket but was blocked by O’Neal. Bryant didn’t give up and recovered the ball and passed to Garnett for an open jumper. West built an early 5 point lead, 15-10, thanks to Bryant great passing. He already tallied 4 assists. Carter made a 3-point basket and Marbury who entered the game made 3 straight baskets to give the East a 3 point lead. 21-18. But that was the last basket of East as the West scored the last 6 points. Nowitzki and Bryant led that late quarter run. The score was 27-21 in favor of the West All-Star.

At the start of the 2nd quarter, Carter and Iverson led an 8-0 run to put the East on top once again. Yao tied the game at 29-29 but another run led by Shaq and Carter gave the East double digit lead. They lead most of the quarter. Iverson helped protect their lead whenever the West made a run. This quarter also features a shootout between Iverson and Bryant. AI scored all his 12 points in this quarter while Bryant after dishing assists in the 1st quarter, scored 8 of his 12 in this quarter. The East were leading by 8, 40-40, but again a late quarter surge by West cut the deficit to only 1 point. Tony Parker got injured with just 1 minute left in the half. The score at halftime was 55-54.
KEY PLAYER OF THE HALF

In the 2nd half, Garnett and Duncan team-up and helped the West built a 5 point lead. it was answered by Shaq and Pierce. The game showed baskets after baskets with some above the rim dunks and fancy passes. The West never led more than 6 in this quarter. James also gave a good account of his 1st appearance in this event as he scored back –to back dunk. In the end the West held on to that lead and were leading by 3 pints as they head to the last period. The score was 89-86.

Allen starter the last period with a 3-point shot and gave the West another 6 point lead. Iverson and Shaq tried to bring back the East but were only able to cut the deficit to 4 points. Bryant and Yao answered every East run. East committed lots of turnover in this quarter that helped the West to extend their lead back to double digits. With less than 3 minutes left, a run by East helped them cut the deficit to half and were looking good with the momentum on their side. But a timely fadeaway shot by Bryant followed by another jumper by Davis killed East momentum. West held on to that lead and win this game 119-114. Bryant, 1 rebound shy for a triple-double performance, was named MVP of this year All-Star game.

GAME RECAP

Inspired Kobe Bryant had an all-around game brilliance to name
MVP of this year All-Star festivities
DENVER, Feb. 20 (Ticker) --Kobe Bryant again will be link to Denver, Colorado. Bryant, after accused by a rape case here and lots of court hearing, Denver will again be in Bryant’s memory. Bryant, won his second All-Star MVP, a night after he won the Slamdunk trophy. Despite all the boos and distractions, Bryant made one of the best all-around performance in an All-Start game. He almost had a triple double with his game-high 22 point, 9 rebounds, and 12 assists. He also had 2 block shots and a steal in 27 minutes.
“Well, I love playing basketball and that’s what I did tonight. I just focus in the game and and not on any distractions," Bryant said. "I also got booed in Philly but I understand were they coming from… This game was for all basketball fans and that’s what we NBA players do tonight.”
West also got a double-double performance from Garnett and Duncan. Both KG and TD scored 18 points with Duncan grabbed 11 rebounds, 1 more from Garnett with 10 rebounds. Yao and Davis, the other West starter also finished in double figures. Davis scored 11 pints while Yao added 14 points to go along with his 5 blockshots.
Both KG and Duncan were also a candidate for MVP because of their great game esp. in the 3rd period were they team-up to re-gain their lead and protected them most of the way.
"It was a great game, I always love playing in this game coz teams will not focus on me in the whole game. With guys like Bryant and Duncan on your side, sometime I’m surprise to see no one guarding me, that’s not what you see when I’m playing for Minny," Garnett said.
"Bryant deserved it, he played one great basketball out here," Duncan said after asking him who deserved the MVP. It’s nice to be invited to play in this game, it’s an exhibition game but with pride on the line. Happy we pull this one again.
On the other side, the Rookies got a big game from Allen inversion and Shaq O’Neal. Iverson scored 20 points, mostly from jumper and driving to the hoops while Shaq powered himself to the basket for a 20 points production. Shaq also had a game-high 13 rebounds. Thomas gets Slava
EL SEGUNDO, Calif, Feb 23 --The Los Angeles Lakers announced today that they have traded Slava Medvedenko to the New York Knicks in exchange for Vin Baker. Medvedenko, who re-signed with the Lakers last summer, never got his game going due to his coming an off-season injury and still struggling to adjust to the new coaching style of Coah Rudy T. he only played 12 games this season and average just 3.8 points, and 3 rebounds in 9 minutes per outing.
Baker, on the other hand started the 39 games of 50 games he played for the Knicks. He average 8.4 points and 6.8 rebounds.
Baker, will give them a muscle inside that Slava lacks. Slava was more comfortable in playing outside. Baker will help the team more in frontline defense and will back-up Grant and Divac
"Vin is a strong frontcourt player who will help us with rebounding and interior defense," GM Kupchak said.
Lakers, Heat made a deal again
EL SEGUNDO, Calif, Feb 24 --The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat once again made a deal that will make or break their campaign this season. Lakers traded sophomore Luke Walton and Tierre Brown to the Miami Heat for Shandon Anderson and Keyon Dooling.
Walton expressed his desired to be traded through his Dad. Bill then talked to Lakers front office and demanded to trade his son to a team that will utilize his skill.
And with the trade deadline approaching, the Heat once again came to the rescue and offered Anderson and Dooling for Walton. Heat, who badly needed a small forward and was forced to used Eddie Jones this season at that spot. Also Shaq like Walton’s game, a unselfish player with good court vision. He will help in setting up Shaq downlow.
Brown served as a salary filler to make this trade work. He was the back-up point guard when the season started but saw his minutes diminished esp when Lakers signed Tonny Bobbitt.
“We don’t want to trade those 2 guys. They are talented players and I know they will do good in our organizations in the near future,” GM Kupchak said. But we also got good players in return. Anderson is a veteran who will help our young guys with his experience and maturity. And we will also gave us salary flexibility in the off-season.
Dooling, on the other hand, were rumor to sign with Lakers last summer but later signed with the Heat. He is another young player who will help Lakers in the future.
