Oakland, CA (AP Press) -- In a relatively low scoring game for the Warriors, Golden State was able to come up with just enough enough offense, thanks to Gilbert Arenas and defeat the Magic 88-82. The Warriors were trailing by 8 entering the final quarter, but Arenas able to catch fire in the 4th, saving the Warriors and helping them improve upon its best start in 25 years.

In his first game against Golden State as a member, longtime former western conference foe, Rashard Lewis had a strong game scoring 24 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. His play was one of the primary reasons why Orlando was able to gain a lead over the league's best team in the first 3 quarters. His addition has caused the Magic to start 11-7, compared to last year's dismal start before they rallied for the playoffs at the end. Dwight Howard had a disappoint game, scoring 11 points and grabbing just 5 rebounds.

"This game was really a test for our team, you know? This is the first time we had been involved in a low scoring game and it showed a lot about our team to pull off the victory." said Coach Nelson.

For the Warriors, besides Arenas, Baron Davis scored 22 points and dished out 9 assists. Many of his feeds were to Arenas on fast break opportunities. Davis also scored 9 of points in the final period, helping the Warriors in coming back against the Magic. Marco Belinelli came off the bench to score 10 points, providing solid relief for Arenas and Davis.

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Gilbert Arenas would once again would lead the Warriors with the victory as he scored a game high 41 points. In Yi Jianlian's first game in Oakland, one of the few teams that Yi was willing to play before the draft, he scored 12 points. Yi was greeted with a few cheers and some fans even bought signs that said things like "We want YI" and "Yi is a Warrior at heart". When Yi was asked by reporters whether his experience with Oakland would make him to try and force a trade to Golden State Yi responded "Its not up to me. Milwaukee is my team for now."

The Bucks, however were led by their true superstar, Michael Redd. Redd scored 36 points, nearly matching Arenas point for point. Their great duel set a great stage for the 4th quarter. The Warriors were able to pull ahead due to their stronger lineup and their ability to get the home crowd involved. The fans seemed to help the Warrior's gain momentum and once they made their final run, they never looked back. Arenas' 3-pointer with 1:43 left, gave them he lead for good. Arenas scored a total of 15 points in the final period.

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Golden State cruised to another victory after taking an early lead in the first quarter over the visiting Miami Heat. The 2006 NBA champions, have not been the same since their championship and once again have gotten off to a poor start. For the Warrior's it could not be anymore different, Golden State has managed to start 15-3 before tonight's game. The Warriors actually played their 2nd low scoring affair in a row, probably to matchup better against their opponents.

Shaq and Dwyane Wade's efforts were not enough to help save the Heat, scoring 23 and 30 points respectively. Shaq seemed to play like Shaq of old, adding 8 rebounds and 6 assists. However, besides them, no other Heat player contributed significantly. Antoine Walker was the only Miami player to reach double figures.

Gilbert Arenas had another fantastic game, scoring 29 points and recording 4 assits and 5 rebounds. Baron Davis added 16 points and 7 assists, while Marco Belinelli contributed 17 off the bench.

For improvements: I can't really think of anything. The presentation is spot on. Really nothing wrong with it. In the dynasty battle between mine and yours, I'm screwed.

Off-Topic: Did you see the signing I made in my dynasty?

Belinelli- In the Spotlight

Image

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Marco Belinelli has quietly emerged as reliable 6th man for the league leading Golden State Warriors. Picked 18th overall in the 2007 NBA draft, through December 9th, Belinelli is averaging 15.0 points a game, while playing in just 18 minutes. Belinelli plays such limited minutes because of the Warrior's already established stars, Gilbert Arenas and Baron Davis, but this doesn't mean Belinelli can't be used effectlively. He has been able to provide valuable rest for his all-star teamates.

In any other season, with his current stats, Belinelli would probably be the favorite for the Rookie of the Year. Unfortunately there happens to be a decent player up in Seattle who goes by the name of Kevin Durant. Durant is averaging an unbelievable 29.5 ppg, reminiscent of Michael Jordan in his rookie year. However, Durant does have the benefit of being a starter and the leader of his young Supersones, while Belinelli has 2 all-stars to learn from. Belinelli, though is definitely one of the top contenders for 6th man of the year. Coach Don Nelson has had nothing but praise for Belinelli. "Marco has succeeded my expectations of him by miles. I mean, when we made the Arenas deal, I was a little worried about our bench, but Marco has done an outstanding job. I try to get him as many minutes as possible, but its hard when you have 2 superstars ahead of you on the depth chart." Nelson said.

Agreed, it seems like Belinelli is facing up hill challenges for both R.O.Y. and increased playing time, but it sure seems like Golden State and its fans have a found a great young talent. Look for Belinelli to have a solid career in the NBA.

Coach Nelson Announces Training rotation

ImageImage

Oakland, CA (AP Press): Don Nelson has finally announced to public what the training rotation will be. Nelson will use assistant coach Angel Dominguez to hold private workout with big men Brandan Wright and Andreis Biedrens. Nelson feels that both players have lots of raw talent and athleticism, but need extra practice to help develop their skills. Biedrens has been slightly disappointing this season, especially having a breakout sophmore year. He is scoring just 4.6 ppg while collect only 3.2 rebounds. His conditioning this year has not been the greatest, so look for Dominguez to working on getting him in better shape.

Image
Look for Wright to work on his jumper

Wright has had a promising rookie season averaging 5.5 ppg and grabbing 5.2 rebounds. He has been able to provide solid minutes off the bench for the Warriors, and is often left in during close games. While he doesn't bring the same scoring punch as fellow rookie Marco Belinelli, he provides energy, hustle, and other intangible that make invaluable to the team. His biggest weakness his outside shot, so Dominguez will focus on improving his offensive game.

Notes: Dominguez l Offense: A+ l Defense: B l Athleticism: A l

Los Angeles, CA (AP Press) -- Gilbert Arenas and the Warriors were able to withstand Lamar Odom's scoring fury, as Golden State beat the LA Lakers 122-118 in an overtime thriller. The Warriors trailing by 10 entering the 4th quarter were able to rally and found themselves with a 2 point lead, and the ball at halfcourt. Stephen Jackson tried inbounding the ball to Arenas (the Warrior's best foul shooter), but unfortunately he was double-teamed, and Vladimir Radmovic was able to steal the ball and put in a game-typing layup with 2.4 seconds to go, to send the game into an extra period.

In overtime, the intensity of the game continued, with Odom trading baskets with just about the entire Warrior team. The Warriors had a very balanced scoring attack, with 5 players scoring above 15 points. Rookie Brandan Wright had perhaps the best game of his young career scoring 15 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists and blocking one Odom shot. His block perhaps saved the Warriors in regulation as Odom could had given the Lakers an 8 point with 1:30 to go. Wright seemed to play with the most energy out of anyone on the floor, and as a result played nearly the entire 4 quarter and the entire overtime period. In the end though, with the Warriors leading 119-118, with 5 seconds in the game and 2 on the shotclock, Arenas drove in and drew a foul while dunking the ball over Bryant. After he nailed the free throw, the Lakers were down 122-118 with 1.3 seconds to go.

Baron Davis had 23 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds, while his partner in crime, Arenas had 33 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds. Stephen Jackson had 20 points and 6 rebounds, and Al Harrington put up 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Harrington, however got torched by Odom, causing him to shun reporters after the game. Coach Don Nelson, however had this to say about Wright's performance:

"Brandan played probably the best out of anyone on the floor tonight. Yes, Kobe, Odom and Arenas all had much higher statistical numbers than him, but the energy and hustle he provided was so valuable to our win tonight. He led our 4th quarter comeback, and was able to put us aheaad in the overtime."

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Although the defending NBA champions have gotten off to a slow start, it doesn't mean they still can't play with the best of them anymore. Tim Duncan, led his Spurs to a surprising 84-81 victory of the league leading Golden Warriors in Oakland.

The Warriors seemed to play uninspired and with no energy at all, maybe because of fatigue setting in after playing 6 weeks at their blistering pace. Nevertheless, the Spurs seemed to be in control all game, forcing the Warriors to play at their pace, and not allowing the Warriors to ever get comfortable. Their defense also stifled the Warriors, and Coach Don Nelson can point to the Warrior's inability to knock down jumpers as the reason for the loss. At times, the Warriors would be wide open, yet their shots still wouldn't fall.

Still the Warriors almost nearly stole the game at the end, when with he Spurs leading 84-79, San Antonio made 2 critical, and uncharacteristic mistakes. As the Spurs tried to running the clock with 33 seconds left, Parker turned his back, and Davis was able to poke the ball free. His dunk brought the Warriors within 3. Then on the next possession, Robert Horry, known for his big shots, missed a jumper from the top of the key, and Duncan was able to collect the rebound. However, instead of passing it out to a guard, or holding it to draw a foul. He immediately tried to shoot it, and Baron Davis managed a miraculous block. Belinelli was able to grab the loose ball and rush down court, but his 3-pointer as time ran down rimmed out.

Gilbert Arenas had 18 points to lead the Warriors, but shot just 6-19. Rookie Marco Belinelli came off the bench to score 14 points, but off of 6-13 shooting, including 2-7 in the final quarter.

"Tonight was one of our worst games. BD set me up so many times, yet my shot wasn't falling. I guess the Hibachi grill wasn't working this game." Arenas lamented.

Baron Davis was the only other Warrior to even reach double digits, dropping 11, but had only 3 assists. Tim Duncan, took advantage of rookie Brandan Wright, scoring 26 points, including 9 of his team's 15 points in the final quarter. Manu Ginobili had 16 points, while last year's finals MVP, Tony Parker had 9 points and 10 assists.

Portland, OR. (AP Press) -- With the Warriors leading 82-68 with 5 minutes remaining in the game, Coach Don Nelson pulled all of his tired starters from the game. Nelson was tried to save the fatigued legs of his players and so he sent in the bench to close the game out. Portland was nearly able to rally and take the game, but behind the strong play of rookie Marco Belinelli, the Warriors were able to hold off the Blazers and tak the game 96-93. Belinelli had 15 points, including 10 in the final period, while Mickeal Pietrus also added 13, including 6 in the period. Gilbert Arenas scored a game high 33 points for the Warriors, all in the first 3 quarters.

For the Trailblazers, #1 overall pick Greg Oden, scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while former number 6 overall pick, Martell Webster led his team with 19. Raef LaFrentz scored his highest total in 3 years, dropping 15 on the Warriors. Rookie of the Year in 2006, Brandon Roy had 16 points, but his 5 fouls really limited his minutes.

"I'm a little disappointed that our reserves were not able to hold our big lead, but at least they didn't completely blow i," said Nelson. "It could have been worse, but at least we still got the win and our starters were able to rest for a bit."

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Playing the division foe, the LA Lakers for the 2nd time this week, the Warriors managed to squeak by them again. Gilbert Arenas once again had the game winning, hitting a fadeaway jumper with 4.5 seconds left in the game to give the Warrior's a 94-92 victory. The threat of losing 2 games in one week for the first time this season seemed to awaken the Warrior's who once again played a sloppy game, their third of the week. Baron Davis was one of the lone bright spots scoring a season high 31 points and dishing out a game high 7 assists. His repeated drives to the basket either resulted in him finishing it himself, or passing it to a teammate for an assist.

However, once again the Lakers' Lamar Odom torched the Warriors netting 34 points this time, and also grabbing 10 rebounds. Kobe Bryant managed "just" 23 points and 6 assists, but also had 5 steals. However this was offset by his 4 turnovers, a team high. Al Harrington was helpless against Odom, letting him shoot turnarounds all game. For Harrington's part he managed just 7 points and grabbed a pitiful 4 rebounds. Gilbert Arenas had 20 points and 4 assists, but also had a game high 5 turnovers, exactly half of all the Warrior turnovers. Overall another ugly game, yet the Warriors were able to pull it out.

Also, I'm thinking about changing the sliders a bit, the game is a bit easy for me, as I can usually bring my team back too easily. What should I do guys? I do, however have one problem, 3-pointers are REALLY hard for me to make even with a good shooter like Arenas or Jackson, while the computer is having a much easier time. I already changed it a bit, so that should help factor into your guys' decisions...

Davis and Arenas... Man I can't imagine the fits that guard combo will cause opposing teams. Brendan Wright is a pretty decent power foward, but I think you should try and acquire some experience in the front court because after Biedrins and Harrington are out there aren't that many reliable bigs that you can lean on off the bench.

Then again, Don Nelson always finds some messed up strategy that works.

Its_asdf: Yeah, Arenas plus Davis is deadly, i love it haha. Wright has been huge for me, as Biedrens' stamina limits him and he can never play in the 4th. I was actually thinking about getting a better backup point guard.....

The Glove headed home?

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Are the Warriors trying to sign Gary Payton? Sources say that GM Chris Mullen and Coach Don Nelson are trying to woo Payton right now. Payton, as many know, grew up in Oakland and starred at Skyline High School before his incredible career. The future hall of famer remains unsigned through 7 weeks into the season, yet his skills should still allow him to play as a backup.

Payton is asking for a little more than the mid-level exception which complicates matters a bit. The Warriors' being over the cap, can only offer $5.3 million, yet Payton wants $5.93 million. However, sources say that "Mully" and "Nelly" can convince Payton to lower his asking price.

If Payton was signed, the Warriors would have either 4 or 5 point guards on the roster depending on how you look at Gilbert Arenas. Arenas has played shooting guard all season, so Payton would be the primary backup to Davis. If Payton is signed look for either Troy Hudson or Sarunas Jasichekus to be dealt. Although it is possible that Payton himself might be the trade bait. This rumor should be settled within the next few days.

Detroit, MI. (AP Press) -- It a matchup between 2 of top teams in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons were able to narrowly edge the Warriors 114-111 at the Palace. The Pistons were able to win even without 2 of its top players, as both Richard Hamliton and Tayshaun Prince were sidelined with knee injuries. However, the Warriors were unable to capitalize, and were dealt their 5th loss of the season. Rasheed Wallace, poured in 46 points for the Pistons, often scoring over, around and fading away from his hopeless Warrior defenders. Al Harrington and rookie Brandan Wright were the primary defenders of Wallace, yet neither had much success. Even worse, their combined effort on the offensive end weren't even half that of Wallace, combining to score just 14 and grabbing 9 rebounds.

The Warriors relied on their backcourt, as Baron Davis had 26 points and 7 assists, Gilbert Arenas had 28 points, and rookie Marco Belinelli came off the bench to score 14. Chauncy Billups, however, exceeded Davis' performace notching 26 points himself while dishing out a game high 12 assists. The Warriors will look to point at the foul shooting descripency as they only had 10 attempts (making 8) while the Pistons shot 23/25. The Warriors will continue their 5 game road trip tomorrow, playing the second game of it against Memphis.

"I can't even describe how mad I am," said Davis. "To not be able to win even when 2 of their top guys aren't playing- thats whack man. Don't even get me started with the refs either, I don't want to get fined."

Memphis, TN. (AP Press) -- The Warrior played some of their best defense of the season defeating the Memphis Grizzles and blowing them out at the FedEx Arena. For once, Golden State did not rely on his high powered offense to pull away, but rather their intensity on the other end, gave them the decisive win. Perhaps motivated by Rasheed Wallace's scoring outburst yesterday, Al Harrington dug it and limited Hakin Warrick to 8 points, while scoring 17 of his own on 7-8 shooting, including 3-3 on 3-pointers.

The Grizzles have started off surprisingly well, shocking everyone with their 16-8 start. No one expected the team with the worst record last year to make such a drastic turnaround. The Grizzles were led by their franchise player, Pau Gasol and his 24 points and 8 rebounds. Mike Miller, after burning the Warriors for 45 last season was held to 18, while rookie Mike Conley Jr. scored 12 points and dished out 5 assists.

Coach Don Nelson was able to rest his starters for the majority of the final period and was even able to give reserves TRoy Hudson and Eric Williams decent burn time. Williams played a season high 11 minutes, and scored 3 points. However, the Warriors were led by Gilbert Arenas. Arenas scored 28 points on 11-17 shooting. Davis added 14 points and 7 dimes, while Marco Belinelli added 12 off the bench.

Minneapolis, MN. (AP Press) -- In the 3rd game of their 5 game road trip, the Warriors blew out the Minnesota Timbewolves 95-79 in Minneapolis. Leading 81-58 entering the final quarter, Coach Don Nelson opted to take out all his starters. His 4th quarter lineup of Sarunas Jasikevicious, Mickeal Pietrus, Eric Williams, Brandan Wright and Austin Croshure played just about the entire quarter, but were outscored by the Wolves' starting lineup by 7. Nevertheless the Warriors' hung on for a 16 point victory.

As usual, Gilbert Arenas and Baron Davis led the Warriors with 21 and 6, and 23 and 3 respectively. Pietrus scored the 3rd most on the team with 12 points, while rookie Marco Belinelli added 10. For the young Timberwolves, oft-troubled point guard, Sebastian Telfair led the way with 21 points, while Ricky Davis came off the bench to score 15. Rookie Corey Brewer managed 13, and Randy Foye chipped in 11. Most of the Telfair's points came against the slower-footed Jasikevicious, as he repeatedly drove around him in the 4th.

"I'm proud with how our team has responded since the Detroit loss. It shows a lot about our team to win 2 straight on the road, especially routing both teams, after such a tough defeat," said Nelson.

East Rutherford, NJ. (AP Press) -- Usually its hard to get excited about playing a thursday night game in America's armpit (AKA NJ), but on this occasion, the Warrior's and the Nets put on quite a show. The contest was close throughout, a constant see-saw match, with the game tied at 100 with 9.9 seconds left, Baron Davis attempted to draw Vicne Carter off Gilbert Arenas, but Arenas' shot at the buzzer rimmed out forcing the game into overtime. The overtime period began in the Net's favor but the Warriors used a decisive 15-3 run in the extra period to take control of the game.

The Warriors played one of the best offensive games of the season, and it was hard to say which player had the best game. Was It Arenas who led the way for the Warriors with 34 points, or was it Davis who scored 27 points and dished out a season high 16 assists? Yet , how can anyone forget about Brandan Wright who played the best game of his pro career scoring a season high 20 points and and grabbing 12 crucial rebounds. Or what about Austin Croshure who scored a season high 11 points in just 10 minutes on the court ?

The Nets on the other hand were led by Vince Carter, and Jason Kidd. Carter had a game high 39 points and also grabbed 5 rebounds and handed out 5 assists. Kidd had 29 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists, before fouling out. Yet ultimately it was Kidd's inability to stop Davis that led to the Nets' defeat. Davis ran circles around the court confusing his counterpart the entire game. Derek Fisher, just acquired from the LA Lakers made his debut playing just 2 minutes and handing out 1 assist. The Warrior's wrap up their road trip on Sunday against the defending Eastern Conference Champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Cleveland, OH (AP Press) -- In the Warrior's only trip to visit the defending Eastern Conference Champions, they blew the Cavaliers out by 17. The Warriors controlled the game the entire way, leading by 9 after the 1st quarter, and by 15 at the half. The Cavalier managed a brief rally in the 3rd, led by superstar Lebron James to cut the lead to 8 at the end of the period, but their efforts were not continued in the 4th. The Warriors played tough D, and forced starting shooting guard Larry Hughes, into a rough shooting (6-22). Golden State limited Cleveland to 11 points in the 4th quarters, through a series of stops and steals. The also managed to dominate the boards for the 1st time this season, pulling down 40 rebounds to Cleveland's 26.

"I've never seen my team be so interested in playing lock-down d or hustling to grab so many rebounds," Coach Don Nelson began. "If we had played this way last year in the playoffs, we definitely would have won (against the Jazz). I'm really proud of my players, especially of Baron and Brandon, (7 & 8 rebounds respectively). Baron led our starters with 7, which is really impressive considering he is also the shortest of the 5. Brandan led the entire team with 8, and he came out the bench!"

Gilbert Arenas had a game high 29 points, negating James' 28 for the Cavs. Baron Davis filled up the box score with 17 points, 4 steals, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds. Rookies Marco Belinelli had 12 points and Wright added 5 of his own in addition to his 8 boards. Hughes managed 19 points, and Donyell Marshall added 17 as the only other 2 Cavs players besides James to reach double figures.

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- Hosting the young Minnesota Timberwolves exactly one week after they had blown them out at the Target Center, the Golden State Warriors managed to hold on and win another against the Wolves 103-95. Similarly to last week, the Warriors had a sizeable lead entering the 4th, but on this occasion they nearly let it slip, after Corey Brewer's 3-pointer tied the game at 91 with 3:56 to play in the game. However, fittingly against a team filled with youth, it was the Warrior's top draft pick that led Golden State to the Victory. Brandan Wright, the #8 overall pick in the this year's draft, scored 11 points off the bench, 9 in the final quarter. He also added 5 key rebounds.

"Hey, I'm just trying to do whatever it takes to get us a win. I'll hustle, I'll dive, whatever Coach needs I'll do," said Wright.

The Warriors were led by Gilbert Arenas' game high, 32 points, followed by backcourt mate, Baron Davis and his 15 points and 8 assists. Many of Davis' final assists were to a streaking Wright down the court. Mickael Pietrus, managed to score 10 points off the bench, one of his better games this season. The Wolves had very balanced scoring, with 3 players scoring 18 points. Randy Foye, and rookie Corey Brewer, were 2 of the players, and the other was the veteran Ricky Davis, who had to come off the bench in order to do it.

Oakland, CA. (AP Press) -- In what is becoming routine, the Golden State Warrior's blew out the competition again, this time defeating the Denver Nuggets 100-84. The Warriors faced little resistance all night against one of the more surprisingly struggling teams. The Nuggets were only 11-16 entering tonight's game, tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves. While the Wolves are not the worst team in the West, no one had thought the Nuggets would struggle so mightly. Perhaps there problems begin with Coach Karl's decision to start Allen Iverson at shooting guard, and having J.R. Smith come off the bench. Karl has stubbornly refused to change his lineup, dodging reporters in the hallway.

The Warrior's on the other hand are about the play their last few games of 2007, and if they continue their momentum into next year, they could be serious contenders to win it all. The Warriors' had very balanced scoring, led by Baron Davis' 21 points and 7 assists. Rookie Marco Belinelli came off the bench in his usual role to score 19 points in just 19 minutes. He was an outstanding 5-7 from the 3-point line. Gilbert Arenas, however, was held to a season low 14 points, struggling all game, en route to a 6-15 shooting performance. He had only 6 entering the final period, but was able to pad his stats with a few easy ones against the tired Nuggets.

His counter-part Allen Iverson had a game high 44 points to lead the Nuggets, scoring over half his team's points. The only other 2 Nuggets to reach double figures were Carmelo Anthony with 13 and Nene with 10. Starting center, Marcus Camby missed the game due to injury.

Shaq for Lewis? Wow. Don't see that one every day. Although when you really think about it, its actually a decent trade on both sides!

Anyway, continually nice recaps. Your dominating! You are just under en route to 70 wins.

Mark: yeah I know man! When I saw it on the screen i was like "woooow" and groaned...Thanks for checking back in...
Sit: Yeah thanks dude, I don't really think these rumors mean anything, it'd be nice if EA actually had some of the rumors go through, even when they are "true". Belinelli has been key for me, 3rd leading scorer for me...
Lamrock93: thanks man! I guess the Heat get younger, and now are led by Wade and Lewis. Morning is still servicable, and Walker is overrated in the game, so he might still good in that world. Magic now have the best frontcourt ever.. but Magic still ripped off heat.

Sit: forgot to say it in my last post when I addressed you, but last year in live 07, Roy was traded by Blazers on at least 2 of my dynasties. Both times for Charlie Villanueva. And after that, he was traded again to the clippers (from the bucks) only on one those 2 dynasties though, not both..! lol
