Martti., It was a tough week.. Losing such close games is really terrible... LeBron is having some monster games but it still isn't enough.. :(

thierryhenry50, Thanks man... And those losses really suck! I think I made bad decisions late in the game...

XpLosibo, team is really struggling... don't know why but I am really having a tough time winning games... And also players in my rotation are getting injured on a nightly basis.. My number 2 spot in the East is in danger...

Brandon Roy, one of the leading candidates for Sixth Man of the Year, had an all-around game with 18 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds.

"We are a young team and we are still learning to play together," Roy said. "There are glimpses of how good of a team we could be, but we have a long road ahead of us."

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The score may be close but the game itself wasn't. Cleveland dominated their arch-rival Wizards for the most part and went on to win their second straight game, 109-101 at the Verizon Center.

Gilbert Arenas led the Wizards with 26 points followed by Brendan Haywood who had 17 points.

"I felt like we let our team down with this loss to the Cavs," Agent Zero said. "We all know the history between both teams and it is tough to lose against them especially when you're playing at home."

Notes:

Magic Continues Dominance Over Cavs

Image
Dwight Howard once again controlled the
action inside the paint.

ORLANDO (AP) -- The Magic just loves playing against the Cavaliers. Why? It's because they always win. Orlando once again defeated the visiting Cleveleand Cavaliers for the third straight time this season

Dwight Howard had another monster game finishing with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Fellow all-star Rashard Lewis had a team-high 28 points including 9 boards and 3 blocks. J.J. Redick, Jameer Nelson and Keyon Dooling all finished in double-digits with 18, 17 and 13 points, respectively.

"We really needed to win this game to get a better position in the playoffs," said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy.

The Magic are currently 6th in the Eastern Conference and only trailing the 5th seed Wizards by half a game. If the playoffs would've started by now, they would be facing Cleveland whom they have already beaten thrice this season.

LeBron James led all scorers with 32 points to go along with his 10 assists but he only managed to grab 1 rebound. Michael Redd added 31 points but was 0-of-6 from three-point country.

Notes:
- Orlando hit 10 three-pointers compared to only 2 from the Cavs.
- Orlando can sweep the season series with the Cavs when they meet again on April 5.

Pistons Beats Cavaliers in OT

Image
Rip Hamilton led the Pistons in scoring with 31 points.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- In a battle between Central division rivals, the Detroit Pistons came up with a huge overtime victory over the struggling Cavaliers. Four starters from the Pistons finished with 20 or more points which ultimately negated LeBron James' 44-point effort.

Rip Hamilton had a team-high 31 points while team captain Chauncey Billups added 22 points and 9 assists. Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince both finished with 27 points. Antonio McDyess scored only 4 points but did grab 15 boards that really helped Detroit control the game.

"It was a total team effort, everyone did their jobs," said Wallace who also grabbed 17 boards and blocked 5 shots. "Our team is completely focused on bringing another championship to the city of Detroit."

LeBron James continues to play great basketball but it seems like his team always falls short in the end. He added 9 assists and 6 rebounds to his game-high 44 points. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had a strong outing posting 26 points, 8 rebounds and two blocks.

Cleveland first met the Pistons at Detroit and won the game, 105-100 behind James' 41 points and 13 assists. The two teams will meet yet again on March 29 at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Notes:
- Cavs C Zydrunas Ilgauskas returned to the starting line-up replacing Dikembe Mutombo.
- Detroit outrebounded Cleveland, 56-47.
- The season series between Cleveland and Detroit are now tied at 1-1.

James' 43 Lifts Cavs Over Raptors

Image
King James skies for the one-hand slam.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- It was clear from the start that Toronto will have a tough time matching up with LeBron James. King James was lighting it up from everywhere on the floor whether it was lay-ups, dunks or three-pointers. He finished with 43 points, 9 boards and 4 assists as he helped his Cavs snap a 2-game slide.

"It has been a long time since we won by double-digits and it came at a time we really needed it," said James. "We have to fly immediately to Milwaukee after this one and that extra time of rest we got in the fourth quarter is big. It also allowed our bench to get some minutes and practice running some plays in an actual game."

Michael Redd scored 20 points and dished out 6 assists while Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 14 points and 8 rebounds. Gerald Green came off the bench and scored 13 points.

Toronto is currently sitting at 11th place in the East and chasing the Chicago Bulls by 1.5 games for the final playoffs spot in the conference.

Anthony Parker had a team-high 24 points for the Raptors while point guards Jose Calderon and TJ Ford both finished with 20 points. Their star player Chris Bosh struggled from the field, hitting only 5-of-16 shots and finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

Notes:
- Cavs F LeBron James has scored 40 or more points 6 times this March alone.
- With this win, Cleveland has tied the season series with Toronto, 2-2.
- Toronto has now lost 5 straight games.

Bucks Defeat Cavs Behind Rookie Yi Jianlian

Image
Yi Jianlian nails a 20-foot dagger to stop the
Cavs comeback.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An unlikely hero stepped up to give the Bucks an upset victory over the Cavaliers, rookie Yi Jianlian. The 6th overall pick from China probably played his best game in the NBA after hitting a clutch jumper to give his team some breathing room in the dying seconds. Yi finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds and blocked a career-high 5 shots.

"This is a memorable game for me," said Yi who hit a jumper to stop a 10-0 run by the Cavs and put Milwaukee up 123-119. "i did a little pick and pop with Mo and I was able to get free for a jumper and nailed it."

Charlie Villanueva also had a great game with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Mo Williams shot poorly but managed to finish with 17 points while also dishing out 9 assists. Anderson Varejao, Bobby Simmons and Charlie Bell all came off the bench and provided some scoring punch and tallied 13, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

"Their bench really outworked us tonight," said Cavs 6th man Joe Smith who had 6 points and 8 boards. "We lacked intensity and focus tonight, hopefully we can make the proper adjustments on our next game."

Former Bucks star Michael Redd led Cleveland with 28 points and 8 assists. LeBron James had 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists while Zydrunas Ilgauskas had a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards.

Notes:
- Bucks F Desmond Mason left the game with 11:18 in the 4th and didn't return.
- The Bucks benched outscored the Cavaliers, 70-34.
- The Bucks and Cavs end their season series tied at 2-2.

Peterson, West Leads Hornets Comeback Against Cavs

Image
David West was all business tonight as he
finished with a monster double-double.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The New Orleans Hornets continued to play well as they defeated the Cavaliers to extend their winning streak to 5 games. It looked like the Cavs would run away with the game with Hornets star Chris Paul sitting most of the first half due to early foul trouble but the visiting team came back from a 12-point halftime deficit behind inspired plays from David West and Mo Peterson.

Peterson had a team-high 29 points with 12 of those coming from the decisive 4th quarter while David West dominated the paint with a double-double performance of 24 points and 16 boards.

"Coach told us at halftime that Mo-Pete and I need to take the shots with CP playing limited minutes due to foul trouble," said West. "We just turned it on at the second half. This is another great road win for us."

The lone bright spot for Cleveland was Delonte West who finished with a career-high 32 points while going 14-of-25 on the floor. LeBron James scored just 15 points but did have 10 assists.

The Cavs have now dropped 13 games at home this season which is already 2 more than last season's home record of 30-11.

Notes:
- Hornets G Chris Paul was hounded by foul trouble all-night and played a season-low 17 minutes. He finished with 11 points and 4 assists.
- The season series between the Hornets and Cavs ends in a tie, 1-1.

Hardaway's Clutch Free Throws Help Cavs Slip Past Pistons

Image
Penny Hardaway hit 7 key free throws in the 4th quarter to
hold-off the Pistons.

DETROIT (AP) -- Anfernee Hardaway turned back the hands of time as he helped the Cavaliers escape Motor City with a victory on Saturday night. Penny had a season-high 20 points while hitting 11-of-12 from the free throw line. He also had 4 assists and 4 rebounds.

"I looked for some open spots in their defense and I just attacked whenever I saw it," the 13-year veteran said. "They seemed to always foul me every time I went to the basket so I continued to be aggressive."

Hardaway was instrumental to Cleveland's 4th quarter come back. He scored 9 points in the final 5 minutes of the game, with 7 of those coming from the free throw line.

"Penny gave us a huge lift tonight, we wouldn't have won this without him," said LeBron James who finished with 28 points.

Richard Hamilton had a game-high 37 points for the Pistons who have now lost 2 games in a row. Rasheed Wallace added 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Detroit still holds the best record in the Eastern Conference and are 5 games ahead of the Cavaliers for the Central Division title.

Notes:
- Pistons G Chauncey Billups fouled out with 5:22 left in the 4th.
- Detroit was outscored by Cleveland in the 4th, 48-32.
- Cleveland leads the season series with Detroit, 2-1.

Cavs Defeats Philly Despite James' injury

Image
James hammers another rim-rocker.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- LeBron James left the game early with an injury but the Cavaliers were able to finish off the struggling Philadelphia 76ers. James had 31 points, 9 assists and 3 blocks on 33 minutes of action. The key for this victory was the 2nd quarter where Cleveland held the 76ers to a mere 15 points.

"This is bittersweet," said Michael Redd who finished with 18 points and 3 rebounds. "We won the game but we would probably be without LeBron for a week. This is a crucial time heading into the playoffs and we just have to stick with what we have and play through it."

Andre Miller was the high point man for Philadelphia with 26 points while also dishing out 9 assists. Meanwhile, commissioner's pet Andre Iguodala put up 16 points and 5 assists.

The Cavaliers bench was also huge in this game as they outscored the 76ers, 37-25. Gerald Green had 13 points and Penny Hardaway added 10.

With this loss, the 76ers have been knocked out of playoff contention. Philadelphia is currently on a 7-game losing slump.

Notes:
- 76ers F Reggie Evans is still out with a sprained toe that he suffered on 3/26.
- Cavs F LeBron James left the game with a sprained thumb at the 6:00 mark in the 4th. Doctors say that he will be out for 5-7 days.
- Cleveland leads the season series against Philadelphia, 2-0. Their final meeting will be on April 14 at the Wachovia Center.

Cavs Recap: March

Monthly Recap: March
A Dose of March Madness...

Image
LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas have done everything they could but team continues
to struggles.

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cavaliers continues to struggle as the season heads to its final stretch despite extra efforts from their superstar LeBron James. Cleveland had a 7-8 record in March, their first losing record in a month this season.

LeBron James' scoring went up this month but it didn't translate into victories for the Cavs. James averaged 34.0 ppg this March and is leading the league with 30.5 ppg this season. But the team will have to go through the first week of April without King James after suffering a sprained thumb in their last game against the 76ers.

"I think the long season is taking a toll on the players," said Cavs GM Zoilo Resurreccion. "We have to grit it out without our superstar and wait until he comes back. Hopefully we can maintain our home court advantage while LeBron is out."

The Cavaliers are currently 3rd in the Eastern Conference behind the Pistons and Celtics. If the playoffs started today they would have to face the Orlando Magic who has already beaten them 3 times this season.

"I hope we don't face them in the first round," said Mike Brown. "Dwight has really given us match-up problems this season. I think we would've a better chance of advancing the first round if we would face another team."

If anything at all, the Cavs have been mightily inconsistent this season and would've to turn it on next month to carry some momentum heading into the playoffs.

Note: The Cavs have 8 games left in the season with 6 of those against +.500 teams.

The Big Three Finally Showing Signs of Greatness!

Image
It took half of the season for Boston's Big Three to get their acts together but it was well
worth the wait for Celtics believers.

BOSTON (AP) -- Ray Allen is one of the most accurate 3-point shooters in NBA history, a multiple time All-Star and an Olympic gold medalist in 2000. Kevin Garnett is one of the most intense players in the NBA, he won the MVP back in 2004, a multiple time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA and All-Defensive team multiple times. Paul Pierce is one of the league's best scoring forwards and has been named to the All-Star team multiple times. All three joined forces to achieve their ultimate goal, to win an NBA championship and raise banner number 17 in Bean Town.

The Boston Celtics (45-28) has been on fire as of late, they had a 13-3 record this March which was best in the NBA. They have now overtaken the Cleveland Cavaliers (42-32) for the 2nd spot in the East and are now 5th in the league. They have also clinched the Atlantic Division title.

The Big Three have carried the Celtics to one of the biggest turnarounds in league history. It can be remembered that the Celtics were only 24-58 last season and finished 29th in the league. With still 9 games left to play, they have already surpassed that record by 21 wins.

Kevin Garnett leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with 27.1 ppg and 11.5 rpg while Ray Allen leads the team in assists with 9.3 per game while also scoring 21.7 per night. Team captain Paul Pierce is having another solid season averaging 20 points, 5 boards and 5.2 assists.

"Our goal is to definitely hang banner number 17 here in Boston," said Doc Rivers. "KG, Pierce and Ray-Ray have really led this team and its ups to our role players to follow their lead. It will be a huge disappointment if we can't go all the way this season."

Gea, Thanks man.. the Live 08 sim engine isn't really the best...

To Everyone, seems like nobody is really interested in this dynasty anymore probably because it is too old but I guess I am still gonna finish the season.. I won't make game recaps for April and just post the results and then make the monthly recaps.. In that way I can go right away with the playoffs.. Also planning some kind of prediction game for the playoffs, hopefully you guys will participate.. thanks! (Y)

P.S. Race to the MVP will be posted in a few minutes...
