5 Game Summary

Well, the last 5 games were wins... this round, it was only one game away from being 5 losses. Consistancy is now proving to be an issue for the defending champs, as they lost games against Miami, New Orleans, San Antonio and Portland... all games in which Denver should be able to win. And I must say, I have never seen so many "And 1s" as I did in that 5 game stretch. And the players who got them?

Dwyane Wade, Tim Duncan, Richard Jefferson, Desagana Diop, Boris Diaw, Chris Quinn, Nene, Greg Oden... they're just the ones I remember.

So after that stretch of games, Denver sit at 16-9. The feature game is against Portland:

Denver's woes continue

Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers have overcome a vunerable Denver Nuggets side, winning 76-65. Roy had an outstanding game, getting the Sprite Performer of the Game with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He was supported nicely by Rudy Fernandez and Greg Oden who both netted 19 points each.

Denver was very team oriented, with 3 players scoring 13 points (Anthony, Billups and Bonner), while Shannon Brown led the team with 22. However the Portland front court proved to be too big and strong, with both Aldridge and Oden picking up 10 boards, while the Birdman and Melo got only 6 each.

One shining light of the round

Chauncey Billups has a personal vendetta against San Antonio. They have caused him heartbreak numerous times in the playoffs. In the two games against the Spurs, here were his numbers:

Game 1: 59 points
Game 2: 29 points 11 assists

He was the Sprite Performer of the Game in both encounters... he's still got some amazing left in him.

Announcement: Season to be Simulated

I've decided to simulate the rest of my third season. I've got two weeks til my holiday in California, in which I'll be away for a month. I decided that I wanted to get to the business end before I left. because a great deal of my core players are on free agency.

I also think it'll be a good experiment. I'd like to see how many of my players are in the All-Star squad without me controlling them. If I have representation, I will play the All-star game and/or Rookie Game. I will take back control in the playoffs, provided I make it. Until then, stay tuned for the season results.

Not very long at all

But oh well, I hope the computer simulation is kind

Its hard to say what will happen with Live '10's sim engine. With your squad, I think you're guaranteed a playoff spot though. Good luck.

Individual Awards

MVP (previous winner: Pau Gasol): Dwyane Wade - After years of excellence, D-Wade has finally been recognised as the MVP. Perenially the league's top scorer, he also has an impressive defensive game. Well deserved award for a true champion of the game.

Most Improved Player (previous winner: Ben Gordon): Randy Foye - Always a handy player with great potential, this season Randy Foye had a breakout year. He averaged 16.8 points per game and 4.3 assists per game. He game was a high point for the Wizards, who unfortunately missed the playoffs this year.

Defensive Player of the Year (previous winner: Chris Andersen): Dwight Howard - What's left to say about this guy? A previous winner of the award, his defensive game is amazing. He averaged 9.5rpg and 2.1bpg.

Rookie of the Year (previous winner: Reuben Walker): Ollie Rose - In what could be called a weak Rookie class, Ollie Rose was the only player to average double figure scoring. He won the West Rookie of the month every single month it was available, so it couldn't be any more unanimous. With averages of 18.4 points, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals, he's really the only rookie to emerge as a real rising star from this class.

6th Man (previous winner: Matt Bonner): Brandon Jennings - The whole season it's been arguable that Brandon Jennings should be starting... and what better argument is there for his case than winner the 6th man award. He provided energy off the Milwaukee bench with 9 points per game and 4.3 assists. Milwaukee are 3rd in the East and a lot of it has to do with Brandon coming off the bench.

Coach of the Year (previous winner: Phil Jackson): Phil Jackson - His team has the best record in the league and he's one of the greatest coaches of all time. Not much else needs to be said.

The Teams

All NBA First Team: [ORL] Dwight Howard, [LAL] Pau Gasol, [IND] Danny Granger, [MIA] Dwyane Wade, [UTA] Deron Williams
All NBA Second Team: [HOU] Yao Ming, [NJN] Amar'e Stoudemire, [CLE] Lebron James, [POR] Brandon Roy, [NOH] Chris Paul

All Defensive First Team: [ORL] Dwight Howard, [TOR] Chris Bosh, [CLE] Lebron James, [OKC] Stanley Alston, [DEN] Chauncey Billups
All Defensive Second Team: [MIN] Al Jefferson, [POR] LaMarcus Aldridge, [ATL] Josh Smith, [MIA] Dwyane Wade, [CHI] Kirk Hinrich

All Rookie First Team: [UTA] Ollie Rose, [GSW] Patrick McNamara, [CHI] Thomas Bender, [PHI] Nach Carlos, [SAN] Donovan Robertson
All Rookie Second Team: [NYK] Mackenzie Macmahon, [HOU] Max Ryan, [DAL] Boris Wainwright, [HOU] Edmund Feehan, [NJN] Jud Reilly

----------------------------------------------

Denver Season Leaders

PPG: Anthony 17.9, Billups 14.3, Brown 10
RPG: Andersen 7.6, Beasley 5.8, Camby 4
APG: Billups 5.5, Chalmers 3.2, Williams 2.5
BPG: Andersen 1.6, Camby 1.1, Beasley 1
SPG: Billups 1.5, Brown 1.3, Anthony 1.1

----------------------------------------------

So there you have it... out of all the awards, only Chauncey Billups made it to a team. Next up will be the playoffs.

badreligionau, hey I'm just gonna check if you receive your ratings for your player

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

Its weird how last year you had so many and this time you have....none. Really suprised by Melo not making a single all star or All NBA Team

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

Sun Feb 07, 2010 3:54 pm

That's the difference between influencing the results and individual player performance and leaving it up to the sim engine.

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

No all-star selections and no All NBA Selections and 41-41 record = Simulation Failed. :?

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

Yeah, 41-41 is not what I would have expected (N)

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

How was Danny Granger able to beat LeBron to the All-NBA first team?

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:29 am

Tough break with the simulation (god Live has a shitty sim engine this year). At least you made the playoffs. I love how Live still doesn't have All-NBA 3rd team for what ever reason.

no All-Star weekend!!! why did u simulated the game? :|

Yep... it's obvious that my playing style is much different to how the computer simulates my team. However, I still would have expected Melo to be one of the league's top players... I mean, it's Melo!

TheDee wrote:No all-star selections and no All NBA Selections and 41-41 record = Simulation Failed. :?

It didn't completely fail, I mean, I made the playoffs in the 5th seed... it could be a lot worse.

Thierry. wrote:Yeah, 41-41 is not what I would have expected (N)

Yeah, the result was a bit underwhelming.

axelgomez13 wrote:How was Danny Granger able to beat LeBron to the All-NBA first team?

I'm not sure, but I'm kind of glad he did. I think Lebron is great, but it's nice to see a surprise like that every now and then.

Lamrock wrote:Tough break with the simulation (god Live has a shitty sim engine this year). At least you made the playoffs. I love how Live still doesn't have All-NBA 3rd team for what ever reason.

It definitely lacks a lot in simulation... hopefully they can get it right for NBA Live 11. The fact there's no All-NBA third team confuses me too.

Dee24 wrote:no All-Star weekend!!! why did u simulated the game? :|

I just had no interest in the weekend. None of my players were there... the West was filled with Lakers and I just wanted to get the regular season done. I'm going away on the 22nd of February.

Playoffs 2012 Preview

Image

The playoffs of 2012 sees a bunch of great rivalries reunited. Chicago Vs Detroit, Lakers Vs Kings and the more recent rivalry of the Nuggets Vs the Thunder. Memphis shocked everybody with their season as they claimed the second seed in the West.

Denver Vs Oklahoma City

The Lineups

Key Factors

Denver

Carmelo Anthony: Last year he was the Finals MVP and he took his team to their first ever championship. If he plays well, Denver should make it through to the next round.

Chauncey Billups: The man is made for the big occassions. If he can help Melo out, the Nuggets will be in good shape.

Oklahoma City

Rudy Gay/Kevin Durant: One of the best forward combinations in the league. In the playoffs last year, they managed to take Denver apart on a few occassions, but if OKC want to make the next round, they need to sustain the high level of play.

Tony Parker: A former Finals MVP is now with a new team. He will have to be influential to get the Thunder past a formidable Denver.
------------------------

So I bet a lot of you noticed the change to my lineup. It's how the computer has ordered my player rotation. I don't completely agree with it, but I'll try it for game 1. It makes me wonder why Shannon Brown got put in the doghouse... he's not my worst rated player.

Damn, the Thunder are great. They have Durant, Gay, Parker and Joel Anthony.

It will be tough.

Here's hoping you'll pull a "Rockets in 1995" and become an underdog champion. Good luck!

You will have a hard time beating the Thunder, good luck. :)

Yeah, great roster by OKC. Good luck man, you gonna need it.

They dont have the best starting 5 but the depth is crazy.Green, Jackson and Marting coming off the bench. I cant even tell who the 6th man is. Even HARDEN is in IR. Hopefully Melo will come through for you

Thanks mate. Hopefully I can do it for Marcus Camby and Grant Hill before the computer decides to retire them.

Don't I know it. Their side has some amazing talent and depth.

I think their 6th is probably Jeff Green, but who knows. Stephen Jackson or Kenyon Martin could easily be in that role... same with James Harden for the matter.
