cool....something for me to take note of next time :wall:

Yo X... we registered our team and stuff... and had our first training... with 4 guys lol. Know how I said my team has never played before??? Well, I was teaching them how to take a lay up and how to shoot a free throw. lol

Anyways... my mate reakons we should start doing 12 K runs and I'm gonna teach everyone our full court press and 2-3 zone. On offence, I'll teach them a Zone Motion... I think it gets as simpel as that lol

Also... hope u played the game and the recap is coming!

Zone Motion eh? gotta love the motion, nothing like the good old pass, cut, screen, etc, etc....my team doesn't actually play with any specific offense....it's pretty shocking I know  guess we just streetball it....add in the occasional pick 'n' roll, pick 'n' pop or pick 'n' fade, & the occasional set move from inbound passes....needless to say that our offense stinks....we really could use some practice time together....our defense is a bit better though....we play a pretty solid 2-3 zone and mix it up by sometimes throwing in half court traps & 3/4 court presses....

I play a combo forward role on both offense & defense....I'm probably the 3rd ballhandler on court, assisting the guards if they get in trouble....my role on offense varies game-to-game it seems....some games I get my touches and shots, others I don't....I probably play a mix of Austin Croshere, Kyle Korver and Ray Allen/Richard Hamilton (if that's possible  ....I'm always trying to move on offense & get open....I cut baseline-to-baseline trying to shake any defenders to get open for the trey (which is almost automatic - I worked out that I'm shooting like 55% on the season for 3's 8-) I think that's even better than my FG% )....I can also score inside if it's not going for me in other areas :P also, my lateral movement is pretty appalling

can't believe you had to teach them layups & FT's  as for the 12km runs, I think that's taking it a bit far :eh:

anyways, lets hope my team has at least 5 players there tomorrow night....there's nothing worse than going 4-on-5 & losing to a team that you would normally beat (N)

Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:45 pm

Well, we will see how my role goes... apart from being player-coach-captain-team manager... i'll probably play a bit of combo guard role. bring the ball up and score when needed. Sort of like Kobe from the Lakers 3 peat era. Haha... problem is we don't have a big man as of now. My mate's friend is the captain of the UQ AFL team... even though he's still in HS... so we're hoping he can play C although he's only 6 feet tall... he does boast a lot of muscle though! lol

Yeh... noone on our team has played properly before. But they are getting more confident and that's what we need to be... no use getting ready to lose every game without a fight. After all, we are the Fakers!

Did I tell you we're gonna do the beep test next week? :)

I think I will teach everyone the 2-2-1 Full court press. I love it cause back in my '16A's' days... it was the only defence I could play. I hate staying in the zone lol

I gotta work on my shot too.... my three pointer is quite wild. Really an effect of not playing in 3-4 months... Well, hope ur team does well tomorrow night!

As for my team... when im bout to pay for 9 jerseys... 4 more guys decide to say count them in... Stupid boys! haha

Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:57 pm

you don't like zone?!? zone's easy to stay in....then again, I'm not defending on the perimeter like you :P

as for my 3pt shot, I took a 5 year hiatus out of the game and I seem to be shooting better than ever without any practice....hit like 3 3's in my 1st game back after 5 years 8-) guess you never lose that stroke (Y) but we'll see, I've had 2 months off of bball, so let's hope it's alright (Y)

Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:08 pm

hm 12K. reminds me of training for cross country. i'd say add on like a K or 2 every other day.

and as for teaching em layups and stuff... just plain sad

Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:18 pm

Sit, show them 'White Man Can't Jump', 'Coach Carter', 'Hoosiers' & 5 of your Kobe Bryant DVD's & they'll be good to go

EAST PROVES THAT ITS ONCE AGAIN THE BEST

By 'The X'
NLSC Insider

Updated: Feb. 19, 2006, 8.25 AM ET --

In what proved to be a pretty competitive All-Star Game, the Eastern All-Stars used a big night (34pts, 8asts, 4stls) from All-Star Game MVP Stephon Marbury to lead his team to a 130-118 victory over the Western All-Stars.

The Western All-Stars looked good through the 1st half but seemed to fall away late in the 3rd quarter, and everytime they made a run, the East countered with its own run. Steve Nash was terrific for the West and it seemed to be doing it all for the team in the 2nd half, but it was unfortunate that teammates Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant had cooled off by that point.

Here's were the top performers from the 2005/06 All-Star Game:

EAST:

S. Marbury - 34pts, 8asts, 4stls
J. Johnson - 16pts, 6rebs
C. Bosh - 13pts, 10rebs
P. Pierce - 12pts, 4rebs, 2stls
Z. Ilgauskas - 10pts, 9rebs

WEST:
K. Bryant - 17pts, 4rebs, 3asts
S. Nash - 16pts, 10asts, 3stls
T. Duncan - 16pts, 6rebs
T. McGrady - 15pts, 8rebs, 4asts, 2stls
Yao - 14pts, 5rebs
M. Camby - 10pts, 10rebs, 2blks

Here's a few highlights from the game:

ImageImage
In the 1st quarter, East's Joe Johnson (Atlanta) started where he left off with the 3pt Shootout as he had his groove going. Meanwhile West's Tracy McGrady (Houston) also was a factor with 8pts in the 1st quarter alone

ImageImage
West's PG Steve Nash (Phoenix) came off the bench and sparked his teammates into a 2nd quarter lead. But with the help of hustle plays from Allen Iverson (Philadelphia) like this, the East clawed its way back into the game

ImageImage
This Nash-to-Kobe alleyoop was one of the highlights of the night as the helter skelter nature of Steve Nash set in

ImageImage
Superman is back in the building! Superman is back in the building! Shaq (Miami) exerts his authority in the 3rd quarter, and it showed.

ImageImage
Hometown hero, Yao (Houston) did his best to try and keep the West in the game, but it was East PG Stephon Marbury (New York) who dominated at both ends to put the game out of reach for the West

ImageImage
The draft class of '04, Dwayne Wade (Miami) & Chris Bosh (Toronto) put the icing on the cake for the East as they closed out the game in the final few minutes

That concludes the All-Star festivities for the 2005/06 season. It's another day or two off and we are back into the 2nd half of the season as teams drive for the playoffs.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:41 pm

well, it seems that FRAPS randomly stopped working for me midway through the 4th quarter, which means the pics of boxscores, MVP etc were never taken....

that completes All-Star Coverage for this season....to tell you the truth, I'm glad it's over....it seems like I never really enjoy covering All-Star Weekend (this goes back to 'Cats Dynasty in Live '05)....to counter this, I am going to promise myself that I will only compete in the events that I'm invited to....I always enjoy Rookie-Sophomore Game it seems, but my interest wanes by All-Star Game....

who knows, maybe next season I'll have participants in every event so I won't have a choice but to cover it

cheers for any & all comments

Why don't you take screenshots using the regular "print screen"?

And nice recap as usual. Only one picture of Yao.

Wed Jan 25, 2006 1:39 am

Wow, Steph owned-izzled that game.

 I loved the fact that Bosh made it to the All-Star game. That alone made my day. (Y)

Wed Jan 25, 2006 1:57 am

Yeah what a game by Marbs (Y) Nash had a good game too.

Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:56 am

nice recap of the all-star weekend :)

but now it's time to go back to work again

Wed Jan 25, 2006 8:29 am

Starbury.. damn man. Where'd he pull that out of? Kidd's ass???

And yes... good luck for the rest of the season X! U know.. u could help me do my CF!!! (Y)

- I prefer chasing the ball up the court... something that I've really enjoyed lol. When we played in the zone, coach didn't let me go up to the guy with the ball.. i like to go up to them. I think that's why I didn't like playing in the zone.

Wed Jan 25, 2006 8:45 am

it looks like the are no people in the stands

cheers....yep, Starbury must be the best PG in the league when the other team isn't playing defense & when he is surrounded by superstars

Cyril Takayama wrote:ah dont worry X, very good recap, would have been happy for west to win.. but ah well

nah, I'm fine....was probably just annoying that the pics I took in Dunk Contest were so dark and that fraps stopped working in the All-Star Game....I'm good :P and yep, I wanted West to win too, but the carelessness of the team's play showed through in the end....

my computer has a tendency to crash at times, so I don't like to risk moving inbetween Live & desktop with tab button....therefore, "print screen" isn't a viable option for me....besides, fraps is great....take as many pictures as you want and with less delay....but for some reason, it just randomly stopped taking them :? ahh well....

as for Yao, will try to satisfy your hunger for him by taking more pics of him next time

yep, I thought Bosh might make your day

yep, Nash was great off the bench....although his D was pretty shocking....he couldn't stop Marbs at all  but it's an All-Star Game so D doesn't matter, so he was great

you probably already know this, but he's real fun to use in the game

pHLo wrote:nice recap of the all-star weekend :)

yep, that is true....it appears a trade is in the works, and another offer is denied....will be interesting to see what it is

fair enough....but zone requires discipline....you can't leave your teammates hanging if your guy gets by you

1st off, welcome to the forums....I was wondering when someone would notice that....it was wierd, the lower bowl seemed to be empty....the mid tier & upper bowls were full, but 1st 5 or 6 rows were empty....really strange :? don't know if it's a bug or if I installed a patch that affected it....hopefully it's just for ASG though....wierd nonetheless :?

 perhaps, or my boy Sean Marks

btw, we won the game tonight by 8pts....other team only had 5 players to start with and ended the game with 2 players  they were hacking the shit out of us....that's probably how they kept game close....we all played like ratshit....I think I had like 12pts....hadn't played in 2 months so shot was off....made 1/3 3pters, but every shot seemed to rim in and out....and was getting and putting myself in position for good looks....at least I did other things pretty well....I must have had like about 20rebs on the night, plus about 5 or 6stls and a few blks....had about 4 or 5asts, was making some great passes all night  although, i probably would have had a triple double if teammates didn't miss so many gimmes :shake:

just a tough game....at least we got the win though....woulda been nice if my touch was back....I might go down to local court on day off and have a shootaround etc....
