Off-Season News

Dwight To Play 22nd With Denver

Dwight Howard agreed to another season with the Denver Nuggets. The 40 year old Howard will enter an unprecedented 22nd season after playing a big role in the Nuggets' 16-0 run in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

MacMahon Re-Signs For Two, IR Cleared Out

Vince MacMahon has agreed to a two year deal with the Denver Nuggets. It was speculated that he would move on in this off-season; but with his playoff performance and the retirement of both Rose and Westbrook, MacMahon will play a pivotal role in the Nuggets' threepeat attempt.

In other free agency news, Sly Mitchell and Liam Leopold will test the free agency in 2025. Neither played any minutes during the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

Nuggets to Pick at 10 and 27

Denver will have a pick in the lottery, with the 10th selection via Utah. Their second pick will also be a first rounder, with the 27th pick via New Orleans.

The Nuggets acquired the picks in their trade deals in the 2024-2025 season.

Nuggets Pick Another Rose

Ollie Rose became another piece of the Nuggets' veteran collection after he signed a one year deal with the franchise. Rose is a former MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, but through his 14 seasons in the NBA, he's yet to win a championship after playing with the Clippers, Knicks and Wizards.

Looks like a pretty good Draft for you, hopefully at least one of those rookies can be productive. Solid signings in Durant and Howard, hopefully one more ring for them. I take it this virtual Dwight Howard handled his negotiations a little better. ;)

Cool to see Ollie Rose join the team as well, an interesting twist after his previous battles with Perko for the league's MVP honours. A bit of a Walt Frazier-Earl Monroe situation there.

I'd definitely like to do a more up to date Dynasty, or Association. Let's see what happens, though I do plan on revisiting the 06 Dynasty again at some point, especially as I'm close to finishing the season I'm currently in.

Congrats on the ninth title! Bulls didn't seem to offer very much resistance, but then again, neither did the rest of the league. I was reading a few days ago, apparently forgot to comment.

Good to see Durant and Howard back another year, especially with Howard breaking an NBA record. (Y) Ollie Rose is following in the footsteps of many Nuggets players; play out their best years but not win a championship, then hop on the Denver bandwagon for a title.

Good luck with the threepeat attempt and getting that tenth ring. (Y)

Both of the NBA comparisons were favourable I think; contract or no contract, I really like Gerald Wallace and I've always found Barbosa's game to be pretty interesting. I was going to put a little more suspense into Dwight's "decision", but I thought I'd spare you guys that, since it's dominated the news of this current off-season. I know I got really sick of hearing about it.

Rose's MVP years actually came during the J.R. Smith era but I believe he was a competitor during one of Perko's trophies... it's something I might have to look up myself

I do like the fact that you have Shawn Kemp and Steve Smith in your 06 dynasty. Smitty in particular was one of my favourite guards growing up.

Thanks Axel; I guess I just got on a roll with that series. Normally a team like Houston or New Orleans manage to pinch a game or two off me, but I had some insane teamwork going on in that run.

I hate to admit it, but the Ollie Rose thing is kind of in the mold of what the Lakers did in recruiting Mitch Richmond. I rated Richmond a lot and he was one of the better guards in the league that didn't win a championship in his prime. Even though it meant the Lakers won the title, I was glad that he got a ring on the way out. I enjoy recruiting the veterans I like and winning them a ring that I think they deserve.

His overall has declined to 61, but I'll see what I can do. I'm going to experiment with how I use him this season, with my main though being that he can play power forward in a smaller lineup. On some set plays, my power forwards get open threes, and hopefully KD is still good enough to capitalise on that.

Ourumow wrote:Ah, it seems that those titles are coming left and right. Good job, looking forward to more.

Thanks Ourumow; 9 from 16 is a pretty good strike rate. Season 17 will start very soon :)

Thanks Valor, I appreciate that. I kind of have a sentimental attachment to my generated players, so I don't see this ending any time soon. I'm aiming for 25 (perhaps even beyond that with a Sit-style trilogy) :)

Prologue

The Denver Nuggets enter the 25-26 season with arguably the most hype in the dynasty era. Not only will they attempt to claim a third threepeat, but they're looking to become the third team in NBA history to win 10 or more championships. But who says it's going to end there? This Denver team could possibly be the greatest ever.

The roster to start the 17th season has a mix of youth, star power, potent role players and crafty veterans that could see them stay on top for a long time. The bench alone has enough talent to make a starting five for another playoff bound team; but as LeBron James would attest to, we can't look too far ahead.

Get ready for another installment of the Next Level!

5 Game Summary

The first five games of the season went pretty much as expected for the defending champs; but their perfect start was almost derailed in game one. Once that scare was avoided though, they picked to easy wins against San Antonio (twice), Atlanta and Milwaukee.

Denver play Memphis in the feature game, as one particular player from the Nuggets adds to his growing reputation:

Nuggets Win Season Opener in OT

The Nuggets title defense had a shakey start, needing to force an overtime against the Grizzlies, where they prevailed by 120-112.

Trailing 91-88, a now patented play by James Palmer tied the game at 91:

phpBB [video]

But his heroics didn't end there. With Ambrose Schwarz scoring on the next possession, the Nuggets once again looked to Palmer with less than 2 seconds left on the game clock:

phpBB [video]

After the game was forced into overtime, the Nuggets ran away with the game, outscoring the Grizzlies 27-19 in the extra period. James Palmer led all scorers with 34 points. Taylor MacKenzie also had a huge game, with 32. Mario Carlos enjoyed a productive debut in the NBA, scoring 14 and Vince MacMahon had 11. Borislav Perko (9 rebounds, 9 assists) was close to a triple-double after he scored 10 points.

Like the Nuggets, Memphis had five players in double figures, led by Ambrose Schwarz, who had 23 points and 8 assists. Tangeni Chiwira dominated the paint, with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Daniel O'Reilly (17) and Kitt Vine (16) both had solid games from the wings. Tommy Stevenson was also a force to be reckoned with in the paint, with 14 points and 13 rebounds, but the Grizzlies couldn't counter the hot shooting performance of the Nuggets.

I'm sure I can get one or two good games out of him this season, but as previous experience would suggest, guys like him at the end of their careers are often corpses.

Axel. wrote:Can't ask for a better start, nice to see the veterans and rookies meshing in well together. Palmer has Dirk Nowitzki's jumpshot, so no wonder he made those clutch shots.

Ah, I was wondering whose jumpshot that was. It looks kinda awkward on a smaller guy.

Ourumow wrote:Some clutch plays right there. Awesome to see that great start of yours.

That's a good question. I guess I'm a subscriber to the team philosiphy (hence why I hate Kobe). Taylor MacKenzie is the main scorer, James Palmer is the clutch guy and Borislav Perko is the glue that holds the team together.

Mavs4Life wrote:Palmer was wide open on that 2nd shot.5-0 is expected for your teams  great start.

I do feel like I'm sometimes exploiting some kind of glitch with Palmer's clutch shooting off the pick, but hey, if it continues to work, I have no shame in using it :P

I guess it is a shock when I lose a game...

5 Game Summary

After Denver started the season with an impeccable home record, they lost their first game away from the Pepsi Centre against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nuggets had only one game that was decided by a double figure margin in this summary, as the Raptors, Thunder, Rockets and Hornets provided a tough schedule.

The feature game is yet another epic. This time, it's against the Toronto Raptors:

Nuggets Win Double OT Epic; Twelve Players Score Double Digits

Image

Denver withstood an outstanding effort from Lucian Asher to win 146-137 in double overtime. Asher led both teams in the scoring, amassing an incredible 56 points.

However, in the clutch stages, the story was once again about Denver's mercurial point guard, James Palmer. With the Nuggets down by three in the last play of regulation, he came up with yet another big time shot:

phpBB [video]

That shot tied the game at 103 - but Palmer's clutch night wasn't done there. As the Nuggets trailed 117-115, he once again combined with Borislav Perko to send it to another period:

phpBB [video]

Palmer ended up being Denver's top scorer with 24 points, as well as 9 assists. All twelve active players for Denver got in on the act. Taylor MacKenzie, Vince MacMahon and Axel Donnelly (5 rebounds) scored 13 each. Stan Griffiths (12 points, 14 rebounds) had a double-double, while Borislav Perko (11 points, 19 rebounds, 8 assists) was two assists off his now-expected-triple-double output. Dennis Anderson, Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Mario Carlos and John Rice all scored 10 each.

The Raptors had a more concentrated scoring effort. Along with Lucian Asher's 56, Igor Martin also had a huge night, with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Garrick Casey also managed a 20-10 game, with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Jesse Wolf (11 points, 11 assists) also contributed a double-double to the Raptors' cause.

An incredible game ended up being decided by depth once again. Denver's scoring committee seperated them once again from their opposition.

Ten Game Player Summary: 25-26 Edition

Just like every season, I have a review of players 1-15 in my roster to give you an insight to how they're going. Here it is:

The Starters

Stan Griffiths

Stan continues to be an efficient scoring, with a field goal percentage of .547. However, with James Palmer emerging, Stan finds himself once again becoming a forgotten guy on the offensive end. His points per game average continues the year-by-year slippage, with it down to 9.1 in the first 10 games.

Even though his offense is being forgotten about, on the defensive end, he's picking up his game. He's taken over Perko as the team's leading shot blocker (2.4) and rebounder (8.2). He's also coming fourth in steal per game (1).

Just like every other starting centre in the league, Stan is catching a cold on the offensive end. He's still however one of the premier players under 25.

Borislav Perko

Borislav Perko isn't setting the world alight just yet, but he's still doing okay. His stats are currently 7.7 points, 7.8 rebounds (2nd), 6 assists (2nd) and 1.8 blocks per game. While many focus on the triple-doubles, Perko's game has always transcended the stat line. Just about every clutch play by James Palmer has something in common; Perko is involved with it. If he's not making the pass, he's setting the pick.

It's unlikely that Perko will be an MVP candidate off these current numbers, but it's not out of the question that he can make a late season run towards the trophy. He's just getting warmed up.

Dennis Anderson

Once again, Anderson is essentially a non-factor on the offensive end. He doesn't get any plays drawn up for him, so he has to work for every point. He's still an excellent defender who can guard up to four positions on the court, which is why he's still a starter.

Taylor MacKenzie

T-Mac's 18.4 points per game average is slightly down on his previous season, but he's still leading the scoring of the hottest team in the league. While James Palmer still struggles to be consistent, he remains to be a constant in the Nuggets' offense.

It's interesting to note that MacKenzie will be a free agent in the off-season, and at age 34, he could be playing for the last big contract of his career.

James Palmer

Everyone knows the heroics of James Palmer late in the game, but it doesn't necessarily tell the full story. For all the hype, he's still a guy averaging 12.9 points, while shooting threes below 30 percent. He's not a guy lacking confidence; there's not a single shot that he thinks he can't hit. Palmer has great potential, and a part of him getting better is picking his spots better.

The Bench

Vince MacMahon

Vince has contributed in various games off the bench. He's averaging just over 8 points per game and shooting threes at 42%. He's also leading the Nuggets in assists, which is surprise considering a) he's not the starting point guard and b) Borislav Perko is on his team.

As the season goes by, it's expected that MacMahon will be a trump card off the bench once again.

Mario Carlos

Picked at number 10, Mario Carlos was compared to Gerald Wallace. So far, the prediction has been pretty accurate. He's an athletic guy who can get to the rim, as well as play tough defense and in a pinch, he could probably play a little bit at the four. An interesting fact about him is out of the 10 games he's played, he's scored double digits in all 10 and is the 4th leading scorer on the Nuggets with 12.3 points per game.

Carlos is earning a reputation as a super-sub. Dennis Anderson could become expendible if Mario Carlos keeps this up.

Dwight Howard

At 40 years old, Howard is still a high quality contributor, but it's easy to see he's becoming more limited with age. He's still an intimidating force in the paint, but his quickness isn't what it used to be.

Howard is third in the team in rebounding (6.6) and blocked shots (1.3), so he's still doing pretty well.

Kevin Durant

The Durantula has shown that he still has a little left in the tank. Over the 6 games he's played, he's averaged 16.5 points while shooting an insane 60 percent from beyond the arc.

KD has proven so far that a good jumpshot barely fades over time.

John Rice

Even though he's played 9 games, Rice hasn't picked up any substantial minutes. With a field goal percentage of 51.6, he's proven to be effective, but he has to be patient being in a rotation behind Taylor MacKenzie.

Axel Donnelly

Axel's minutes have been limited once again, with Borislav Perko, Stan Griffiths, and even Kevin Durant preferable options so far. Donnelly did however have a good performance in the Nuggets' Double-OT win over the Raptors.

Julian Chandler

Over his five games, Julian Chandler has scored five points. Things aren't looking good so far for Julian, and with Mario Carlos performing the way he is, it's hard to see it getting any better.

IR

Ollie Rose

Ollie has been used as the team's third point guard; kind of in the same capacity as LeBron James, but with less minutes. Like LeBron, his jumpshot has declined quite a bit, so his primary role is being the distributor.

With Palmer and MacMahon doing a good job, his minutes will probably be scarce as the season progresses.

Jim simon

Jim has only appeared twice so far this season. He may get opportunities down the line, but at the moment, the comparison he had with Adam Morrison looks to be an accurate one.

Lawrence Griffiths

Lawrence is counting down the days til Dwight Howard calls it quits, because right now, he's not getting much playing time. He's only appeared in one game so far this season.

5 Game Summary

The Denver Nuggets had one setback in this summary, losing to the Detroit Pistons. Apart from that, the closest anyone got to them was 15 points, which both Memphis and Miami achieved at their home arenas.

The feature is against the Clippers:

Nuggets Keep Unbeaten Home Streak Alive

Image

The Nuggets routed the struggling Clippers, winning by 102-67. James Palmer was the Nuggets best with 33 points. He led a field of 6 double figure scorers for Denver, which included Vince MacMahon (17), Taylor MacKenzie (12), Borislav Perko (10), Dwight Howard (10) and Mario Carlos (10).

In direct contrast to the Nuggets, the Clippers only had two contributors with more than 10. Dickey Freeman was easily their best with 23 points and 5 assists. New acquisition Gordon Wilkins achieved a double-double, with 13 points and 11 rebounds, but both Freeman and Wilkins had little help, with Casper Legrand the next best with 8 points.

The Denver Nuggets are currently 8-0 at the Pepsi Centre for the season.

After a few close misses, Borislav Perko finally got his first triple-double of the season, with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists against the Heat.

November 2025 Review

It was great start to the 25-26 campaign for the Nuggets, losing just two games in the first month of play. They're currently on level pegging with the top East team Chicago on 15-2.

James Palmer has already made enough plays to fill a highlight reel, and it's just the first month. He's coming off some big performances at the end of November, including games 45 (Vs Detroit) and 33 (Vs LA Clippers). Is he ready to take on the responsibility of Denver's go-to-guy?

The bench for Denver has been the biggest talking point. Instead of one super-sub, they've had 4. Vince MacMahon and rookie Mario Carlos led the second unit, taking the pressure off the Nuggets starters. Dwight Howard has been solid, providing a tough presense on D, while Kevin Durant has had moments of streakiness.

With the month of December upon us, the Nuggets will look to end 2025 with a bang.

December is going retro!

Everyone's (well, my) favourite time of the season. Time to dust off those ugly rainbow stripe jerseys. In this picture, two players who played for the Nuggets during this dynasty; including one who's currently on the team.

So after a brief absense, I've decided to bombard you guys with a bunch of information... kind of typical of me I guess :P

Uni's been pretty hectic. I have a 10 minute presentation tomorrow, as well as my short story being critiqued by the whole class. I've also been working on an application to study abroad next year. In the midst of all this, I've still been able to play NBA Live 10 (somehow). There's actually another 5 game summary I need to do before I'm completely up-to-date in this dynasty.

Wow, twelve players in double digits is something else. Epic win in that second to last round. (Y)
