nice dynasty mate, you got another reader

its kind of weird, i have/had korver, green, marvin williams, deron williams, sean may, najaera, ridnoir, and webster on my rockets dynasty

Mon Nov 26, 2007 5:30 am

jasonkidd508 - thx man and yeah, GIF action all the way; i like 'em too and try to use the 'Clutch PotD' to capture a defining moment of the game or just really cool shot (like Yao's over the backboard);

rockets>u - awesome; always appreciate new readers; and man, that's a crazy coincidence with our teams; now if you had, "Jafari Cotton" I'd really flip out; for the record though, I never had Ridnour and D-Will on the squad at the same time

Thx for reading; Bulls v. Rockets coming soon

Mon Nov 26, 2007 9:20 am

Man, every time I see pics of Marvin Williams in your dynasty I think "Man, Deron Williams looks WAY too black in 05." And then I remember that you have Marvin as well, and I feel like an idiot.

As usual, solid recap.

BULLS VS ROCKETS "Rockets survive Bulls 4th qtr stampede"
Sun Feb 24, 2008 Toyota Center, Houston, TX

BOXSCORE CHI 99 HOU 107 Final
Player of the Game

The Chicago Bulls used a late fourth quarter rally to close within a respectable margin of defeat losing 107-99 on the road at the Toyota Center but the 8 point final deficit would not be a fair indicator of Houston's overall dominance.

Through three quarters the Rockets' hounding defense forced the Bulls into 20+ turnovers but it was Houston's relentless offensive tempo that had Chicago struggling to match. Rockets' head coach, Phil Jackson, would elect to play recently signed free-agent rookie, Garrick Briggs, over 6th-year pro, Mike James, who had been struggling in the past few games and the move would pay off in huge dividends. Briggs, a 24 year old, 6'2" 208 lbs sharpshooter out of Hofstra University, provided a huge spark off the bench connecting on 4-of-5 from three-point range and finishing with 12 points, an assist and steal in 16 minutes.

Deron Williams once again found himself tied up in foul trouble ending with 6 points, 3 assists; but Brevin Knight filled in nicely in Williams' absence with 6 points, 6 assists and 2 steals.

Riding the huge lift provided by Knight and Briggs, the Rockets carried a 12 point lead going into halftime, made a huge third quarter push and at one point led by as many as 20 with just under 5 minutes remaining in the game.

The Bulls managed a final charge led by Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich, to breach just within single-digits but a perfect 17-for-17 night from the free-throw line for Houston made the expiring seconds mere formality. With the win, the Rockets improve to 32-20 and claim their third consecutive victory.

"Another solid night for us," said coach Jackson following the game. "our bench in particular. Brevin (Knight) has been big for us and kept the offense running smoothly when Deron (Williams) got into foul trouble. Garrick (Briggs) kept their defense honest when his shot started to fall; that really opened things up for Yao inside."

Yao Ming paved the way for the Rockets with 28 points, 8 rebounds while Gordon and Hinrich combined for 46 points to carry the Bulls' scoring load.

On a quick back-to-back, the Rockets fly out to face Zach Randolf and the Portland Trailblazers tomorrow night.

Notes:

Garrick Briggs is a 6'2" 208lbs shooting guard out of Hofstra University, NY. Known as "the Marksman" for his solid mid-range and three-point shot in college, Briggs recently signed a 5.10M/5-year contract with the Rockets as an undrafted free-agent on Feb 6th, 2008.

Wait so u've been playing Mike James as the primary backup to McGrady then?
Also put all the pictures back as images not as links, it looked a lot better before....

MC5 - haha thx; yeah does Marv Williams even have a nickname in ATL? otherwise i'll need to make one up; gets confusing with him and Deron running around out there

Chase - Uhh... no. Looks fine as is but thx for your 2 cents :) too many graphics can slow things down (see Anubisak's 76ers); i can't even load those pages so i don't bother - sorry Anub but otherwise i'd comment more since i love AI back in Philly; MJ is backup for Graham

Homi - thx and appreciate you asked so go for it (Y)

Xiph - thx man and Yao's been crazy lately; it pays to have a 'big man' assistant coach!

ROCKETS VS BLAZERS "Dynamic duo double-trouble for Portland"
Mon Feb 25, 2008 Portland, OR

BOXSCORE HOU 95 POR 82 Final
Player of the Game

Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming combined for 57 points to lead Houston to a 95-82 road victory over the Portland Trailblazers. Forward, Zach Randolf, shouldered the Blazers load with 25 points but was limited to 5 boards on the night.

Both teams battled evenly through the tough, physical match which drew a combined 32 fouls; but Houston made the most of it in the end, connecting on 22-of-24 free throw attempts to Portland's 8-for-10 from the line.

Yao Ming, suffered a hyper-extended arm when he got tangled up with Center, Raef LaFrentz , going for a rebound but he returned early in the 2nd to finish the game. Marvin Williams, however, would also suffer an arm injury later in the 4th and did not return.

NOTES:
    The 'Blazers were without bruiser Center, Jamaal Magloire, out with a sprained knee;

    Houston's, Mike James, sat on the bench and did not play tonight, most likely coach Phil Jackson's response to James who told media earlier today he was, "disappointed" in Jackson's decision to play rookie, Garrick Briggs, over himself last night versus the Bulls; Tonight, Briggs had another solid game with 9 points off 4-of-5 shooting, 2 steals and an assist in 14 minutes of play;

Next up, the Rockets return home to host Mike Bibby, Ron Artest and the Sacramento Kings.

You used to have all the pictures out and it looked much better. I know anusibiaks has too many graphics, but his images are all way too big and stuff, whereas yours are niecly sized. I agree with your assesment of his dynasty, but I've never had problems with the way it was before... No need sarcasm buddy haha

How do I rephrase without you feeling offended... I understand what you say. What you fail to understand is that the 'CPotD' is a bigger file and thus more taxing for folks with slower internet. I do like it, however, so will sometimes use it but sometimes not; the times I don't, I'll show more pics. It's a trade off because not everyone has superfast internet.

These updates are info, a way for me, or anyone who wishes to follow along, to track the team's progress; if it's so troubling, there's an obvious solution. Now, if my intent were to make it all pretty, i'd just focus on a wicked template and blow the door off the hinges; make sense?

Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:51 am

What are GRiggs ratings out of curiosity compared to James?

And I wasn't like offended, Anyways, keep up the solid work, and remember I'm probably your #1 dynasty supporter here.. haha

Same here. I just haven't been posting comments.

Wed Nov 28, 2007 3:07 pm

comments usually show the most appreciation for any dynasty writer.. but, Ok whatever, you can have the title... congrats lol

Wed Nov 28, 2007 3:31 pm

I showed my appreciation... by other means... but I'll accept the title :D
CLUTCH, keep up the good work
lol

Chaser - I know you've been reading along since the short-lived GSW dynasty days and appreciate it but actually… Jemesouviens has been reading since around that time as well and is a huge reason these Rockets got started in the first place, as we're both long-time T-Mac fans. In fact, one time early on, I was discouraged and nearly pulled the plug on this dynasty but she encouraged me to keep going; if it weren't for her, this one might not have made it past a few weeks honestly

So Jemesouviens is new to the forums but has always been the magic 'behind-the-scenes' so to speak; she's basically like the GM of this Rockets squad! ;)

To answer your question:

    MIKE JAMES ----- OvrAll 69, Ht 6'2", Wt 186lbs, Yrs Pro 6, FG 70, 3PT 78, FT 75, Dunk 1, Stl 65, Blk 2, OReb 14, DReb 28, Pass 70, O.Aware 80, D.Aware 58, Speed 76, Quick 76, Jump 50, Dribble 72, Strength 50, Hardy 85, Stamina 75, Ins Scr 42

    GARRICK BRIGGS OvrAll 66, Ht 6'2", Wt 208lbs, Yrs Pro R, FG 88, 3PT 88, FT 55, Dunk 25, Stl 49, Blk 21, OReb 30, DReb 35, Pass 46, O.Aware 42, D.Aware 65, Speed 82, Quick 63, Jump 51, Dribble 53, Strength 66, Hardy 66, Stamina 46, Ins Scr 50

Jemsouviens -  Why do I hear the lyrics, "Dont cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" in my head? :P

Wed Nov 28, 2007 5:47 pm

Woah Briggs is crazy good for an undrafted rookie... haha niccce pickup

Thu Nov 29, 2007 1:30 am

What? That was an undrafted rookie? Great job in picking him up.. His fg and 3pt shooting are crazy... I guess you found the “diamond in the rough”! :D

Thu Nov 29, 2007 6:12 am

Chase/Homi - yeah I'm not sure how Briggs slipped through the cracks but when I saw what he could potentially bring, I had to make a move. I think Briggs' requirement of a 5/yr contract might have turned some teams away, but at 5.10M (or 1.02M a year), the Rockets saw a much-needed sharpshooter for a deal price too good to pass up; I want to train him into the 90's for his 3PT shot plus he's got some weaknesses I'd like to target and improve: Free-throws (I guess he needs pressure and a hand in his face to shoot well heh), Passing, Offensive Awareness and Dribbling primarily; but all n' all, Garrick "The Marksman" Briggs is shaping to be my Rockets' Jon Paxson/Steve Kerr ;)

My other recently signed free agent, Anthony Sato, out of New Delhi, India, is pretty decent as well:

Image

    ANTHONY SATO - OVRAL 65, HT 6'9", WT 214 lbs, Yrs Pro R, FG 65, 3PT 62, FT 88, Dunk 77, Stl 43, Blk 21, O Reb 34, D Reb 29, Pass 73, O. Aware 85, D. Aware 46, Speed 44, Quick 49, Jump 65, Dribble 47, Strength 30, Hardy 52, Stamina 52, Ins Score 57

Sato plays SF/PF position and is kinda Matt Barnes-ish, just not as quick or good defensively. Nice passer though with a strong sense of what's going on offensively so he can move without the ball well or find the open man with a pass. He's only signed for the league min, 1 year at 385K, so if he wants to make the cut and be resigned next season he'll have to earn his keep

BOXSCORE SAC 96 HOU 99 Final
Player of the Game

GAME RECAP

Houston's uncanny ability to draw fouls resulted in a veritable conga line to the free throw line which proved to be the difference maker in their 99-96 victory over the visiting Sacramento Kings.

Attacking the rim consistently throughout the match, the Rockets marched to the free throw stripe 32 times, converting on 22 attempts; in stark contrast, the Kings only managed to convert on 5-of-6 attempts the entire night.

"It's f<expletive>n' bull<expletive> is what it is," exclaimed an irate Ron Artest who had argued viciously with officials most the evening. "That had to be one of the worst officiated games I've ever been a part of. When refs go interfering with outcomes that much, how can you possibly expect to have any chance of winning?" Despite a tough night with officials, Artest finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists

The one saving factor which kept Sacramento in the game was their terrific 3pt shooting efforts. The Kings lit up the scoreboard from distance by shooting 11-of-26 beyond the arc, with stellar individual performances coming from 9-year veteran point guard, Mike Bibby and rookie backup, Travis Charles. Bibby connected on 4-of-7 from downtown, finishing the night with a team-high 22 points, 13 assists and chipped in 2 rebounds while Charles, a 22nd overall pick out of Alabama, hit 4-of-6 from 3pt range for 14 points and 3 assists on the evening. The Rockets, in comparison, shot an abysmal 3-of-16 from beyond the arc.

"We were lucky to come away with a win tonight," expressed a satisfied coach Jackson. "We weren't able to move the ball as well as we would've liked and couldn't knock down the open shot; fortunately everyone stayed aggressive and effective in getting to the line."

Tracy McGrady led the way for the Rockets with a team-high 33 points while gathering 6 boards, 2 assists and a steal while Yao Ming contributed yet another solid double-double, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

NOTES

    For the 2nd straight game Rockets guard, Mike James, was dressed yet did not play, apparently still in the doghouse with coach Jackson for comments made to media earlier this week regarding James' lack of playing time;

On a back-to-back schedule, Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors come rumbling to Texas looking to snap the Rockets' 5 game winning streak

Great win dude! Im a bit sad coz my man Kevin Martin of the Sacramento Kings isn’t even in the Kings starting lineup. Artest’s post game comments were classic!

Hey man, sorry its been a few days since I've commented here. However, it is still just as amazing and in-depth as I remember it. Spectacular stuff!

Only 22-from-32? Eh, either way, that's a pretty nice haul.

Presentation still looking great, the court looks beautiful in the T-Mac And-1 .gif. Do the crowd textures (the .o files) here by JaoSming work on 06? Just wondering because EA's default crowd has looked dull until recently.
