Rounding out the squad are international SF's Peja Stojakovic (Kings) and Andrei Kirilenko (Jazz). Talking of international forwards, where the heck is Dirk Nowitzki?!?

WOW, Dirk got snubbed? ANd Van Horn made the East team? What the hell is going on here?

Very nice update! :applaud:

yep, in the alternate universe that is my dynasty, one-by-one, token white guys are taking over the league.... :?

for everyone else, I'm taking no more submissions for cyberfaces for 2006 Draft (except for Sit who I've got a slot held for him)....anyone else who wants to be in will head into the deep 2007 Draft class with the likes of Chris Paul and co....

I've finished February and I'll do the month's recap tomorrow....I'm also taking requests on any information that you guys might want in relation to this dynasty (ie. how a certain player is faring and so on)....

I think J-Rich must have smacked Pierce in the bollocks before wrongfooting him... Can't explain The Truth's stance in that pic any other way...

Great coverage, shame the game froze halfway... Keep it up, Andrew...

trust me, he didn't block the shot, he wisely pulled his arm away at the last minute....was a very nice flush....

Andrew, hardly anyone calls by that name outside of work  everyone (real life included) just calls me X.... (Y)

but about the game freeze, it didn't really bother me that much....only difference in game was no real MVP....if it happens in regular season it will be a different story though....

FEBRUARY 2006 SUMMARY

The Bobcats dug in a bit more this month as they put in a 4-5 effort, falling just short of their first winning month in franchise history. However, a 4-5 month is not getting them any closer to the playoffs as that slim prospect grows thinner by the day.

February was a month in which Charlotte sent 4 'Cats to All-Star Weekend, with Okafor and Dumars heading things off in the Rookie-Sophomore Game, G.A. putting in a gallant effort in the 3 Point Shootout, and Wallace watching Kobe beat out K-Mart for the Slam Dunk crown.

Whilst the roster is pretty much set in stone for the season, a certain rookie SG Andrew "The X" Watson made a push during February, and with the poor play of Korver, has taken the starting SG spot. This move has actually helped Korver's game as he is averaging similar figures (10.0ppg ) in less minutes (15.0mpg). Korver is liking be a main scoring options in the 2nd team rotation.

With the season pretty much tanked after a very poor November and December, the 'Cats are playing for next season and brighter horizons.

AROUND THE LEAGUE (FEBRUARY '06)

STANDINGS

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Image
Boston has really started to put together some nice play as they lead the division of defending champion New York Knicks. As for Kidd and Iverson, they are just stuck on bad teams in NJ and Philly

Image
Detroit and Indy are just a class above the rest in the Central, while the Bulls have shown that last season was an aberation. The Cavs meanwhile haven't recovered from LBJ's injury last month and look to be out of the playoff race

Image
Miami looks to have the division almost sewn up, but the real question is whether the Wizards can follow ROY candidate Priest Askins' strong play to the playoffs

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Image
Denver and Seattle are making a push for the playoffs on the back of 4 game winning streaks, meanwhile the same can't be said for the struggling Jazz and Blazers

Image
Kings are once again looking superb in the regular season but will it ever correspond to playoff success?!? As for Suns, when are they gonna pull their finger out and put some W's together?!?

Image
The Southwest is once again the top division as the bottom team (Hornets) are only one game below .500. Duncan is once again leading Spurs to the promised land, but you can't discount the deep Mavs and the fired-up Grizzlies.

AWARDS

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Image
In his twilight of his career, this appears to be on of Shaq's last chance to get one more title. You can't discount his MVP-quality play

Image
Priest Askins built on his Rookie Game MVP to put together a great month which included his 1st career triple double. He's now regularly getting over 30mpg off the bench and is a favourite for ROY and 6th Man of the Year Awards

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Image
You can't fault this guy as he always carries the Spurs on his back. Another great month from Duncan

Image
Iwanaka put together his 4th straight Western Rookie of the Month Award as his game goes from strength-to-strength. Expect big things from him and the Sonics next season

MVP WATCH

Image
As can be seen by his scoring and assists numbers, the Nets are really relying on Kidd for everything

NLSC PLAYER UPDATE (FEBRUARY '06)

This is a monthly section that will highlight different NLSC Players each month. As there is only one NLSC Player at the moment (me ), for this season it will just be a short recap of what my guy is doing. Once next season (06/07) rolls over, I'd say that this piece will hold a bit more interest to you guys.

SG- Andrew Watson (The X), 6'2", 220lbs (31st pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by Charlotte)

Image
Watson tried to prove to team management that the team didn't need the coveted Larry Hughes

Watson took great strides in February as after the All-Star break he assumed the role of starting SG. As a starter, Watson has averaged 7.8ppg, 2.8rpg, 4.3apg & 0.8spg. When they drafted him with the 1st pick in the 2nd Round, the Bobcats didn't realise they were getting a guy that could also distribute and make his teammates better. With the season pretty much done for the Bobcats, I would imagine that Watson will continue to get plenty of minutes.

Andrew Watson's 2005/06 Stats:
4.0ppg, 1.0rpg, 2.1apg, 0.55spg
3.35 NBA Efficiency Rating
2.29 Raw Birdie Score
1.84 Weighted Birdie Score

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE BOBCATS' CAMP

PLAYOFF DREAMS GO UP IN SMOKE WITH G.A.'s TOE

Any chance of an unlikely playoff berth was all but squashed when star PG Gilbert Arenas tried to step in and take a charge from Brazilian workhorse Anderson Varaejo in the Bobcats' win at Cleveland. Arenas went down, didn't get the charging call, and to top it off he came up gingerly and left the game and did not return.

Image
No, Gilbert didn't feel the need to have an impromptu game of hopscotch

The news was not good from the team's medical staff as it is was reported that Arenas would miss at least a month of action due to a sprained toe  :x

Image
Image

Steve Blake will step into the starting PG spot vacated by Arenas and will team up with Watson to make possibly the worst backcourt in the league  Fortunately for Charlotte, the injury does come at a time when Blake and Watson are in fine form so hopefully Gilbert's loss won't hurt the team too much.

a bit of a tough blow but I love the realism....just not the softness of G.A. :shake:

I also updated page 1 of thread with updated roster lineup, updated BPMM Standings (looks like 'Meka has it in the bag now) & updated Record Book....

hope you like the pic and caption :D

So,G.A. got a big boo-boo,eh?

Time to break in the youngsters,then...

My advice is to give Ben Tshibaka some playing time. If I remember correctly, I had him as a projected late 2nd rounder with excellent potential in a couple of old simmed dynasties and he develops into a 65 overall after 3 or 4 years of play...

yep, I'm definitely gonna give Tshibaka big minutes at PG....probably split them 50-50 with him and Blake....whoever is playing better each game will get the minutes....

as for Tshibaka, he was an undrafted free agent rookie who I signed for minimum because of my dire need for a 3rd PG and the fact he's got excellent potential and I believe he can become a very good backup in the league (Y)

tough break losing G.A. though it will give you more time to evaluate other players ability like blake and tsibaka.

i know you might be out of playoff contention but i'm still excited on who will win in your second season...

and also hoping a better next season for your Bobcats!!!
Next season you all have the whole salary cap, get a superstar with that 10M you will have

I know the money is there for next season but I don't think there is a gun SG available....I know the draft is stocked with big men at this stage....I'm looking at the 2007 free agent class (with lebron, wade, etc) with envy....shall I find a better one-year option next season at SG and then fill it out in 2007....a lot can happen, and as you saw last off-season, it probably will....

SbHZmAFiA wrote:arenas needs to suck it up. just a sprained toe it will be interesting to see how well watson plays now. maybe you can take arenas starting spot

nah, Watson doesn't have the ballhandling skills to play the point but he plays much bigger than his 6'2" stature....but it should be noted that Watson is starting, but at SG....and in G.A.'s 2nd game out, The X stepped up for a game-high 22 points as he dominated Dermarr Johnson (who's 6'9") :D and it was from a simmed game....my 1st simmed win in probably 2 or 3 months I'd say

Hey, the Nissan is back!!! Though it looks strangely pinkish in that pic... :?

If I remember correctly, Blake does not develop beyond 59 Ovr while Tshibaka goes up to about 65 or something... So i would give the rookie just a bit of edge there...

yeah, my sister took a pic on his phone so thought I'd post it....but maybe I should pull it off as it ain't pink :x I think it's just the sun light shining and the fact it wasn't clean....I dunno....looks different shades of red in different light....looks sweet at night....

unfortunately I can't go with you on that....Tshibaka is still a bit raw and whilst he might be very nice in a couple of years, I want W's now....he's still getting some minutes at backup PG (about 15 per), Steve Blake has really stepped up and he's earnt his minutes....
