Birdman and Bonner amongst the award recipients

Denver have capped off a great year by having two individual award winners and good representation in the All teams. Chris Andersen won the Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league in rebounds and blocked shots, while Matt Bonner got recognition for his efforts by winning the 6th man award.
Amongst the team recipients, Andersen and Anthony were announced in the first All-NBA team, while Beasley was a shock selection for the second team. Birdman once again appeared in the All Defensive First team, while Anthony was also there after leading the league in steals. An honor most people would never pick Melo to win.
The Award WinnersMVP: (previous winner: Lebron James)[LAL] Pau Gasol: Amongst the MVP race leaders throughout the season, however I thought it was going to be between Wade and Melo. Thought D-Wade might have gotten robbed here, but Pau put up a great season with 16.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
Most Improved Player: (previous winner: Channing Frye)[DET] Ben Gordon: I wasn't quite sure how much he could of improved since I already thought he was a star of the game, but obviously the judges in the game thought otherwise. He put up numbers of 16.9 points, 2.7 assists and 1 steal per game.
Defensive Player of the Year: previous winner: Josh Smith)[DEN] Chris Andersen: The Birdman has been outstanding in protecting the nest this year. He led the league in rebounds per game (10.1) and blocks per game (2.3).
Rookie of the Year: (previous winner: Stephen Curry)[MIA] Reuben Walker: Whilst D-Wade didn't win MVP, Walker ended up with the highest rookie honor. He had great competition from Stanley Alston the whole year, but in the end, Reuben won it by a narrow margin, with averages of 10 points and 5.6 assists per game.
6th Man: (previous winner: Malik Allen)[DEN] Matt Bonner: Bonner has become a fan favourite, and why not? He provides points off the bench when Denver need it, which includes an excellent 3 point stroke. He averaged 7.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Scoring champion (previous winner: Dwyane Wade)[MIA] Dwyane Wade: Although Melo had a strong chance towards the end of the season, D-Wade lead the points all season long and ended up a little over 200 points more than Anthony. One of the game's elite offensive players.
Coach of the Year: (previous winner: Doc Rivers)[LAL] Phil Jackson: What's there left to say about this guy? He's one of the all-time greatest coaches in the history of the game and he took his Lakers team to the top of the Western Conference. As much as I hate to say this about the rival team's coach, the man is a legend.

Denver's player-by-player analysis[STARTERS]
Chris Andersen: Had a great season and played well in the all-star game. Got the highest honors defensively as well as the All team selections. Can't ask anything more from one of your players.
Michael Beasley: Managed to surprise everyone with his all-star and second all-nba selection. Had a solid year with moments of brilliance. Definitely worth acquiring at the end of the day.
Carmelo Anthony: Absolutely electric! He had a career year and the nights where he was on fire, all the opposing teams could do was sit back and watch the show. Deserved his All-NBA first team selection... his All-Defensive first team selection was a surprise though.
Earl Smith III: Had an excellent start to the year with an All-Star selection, but faded away a bit towards the end. Inconsistency tends to plague him a little at the moment, but on his day, he is a very important member of the organisation.
Chauncey Billups: His scoring production has gone down considerably, but he's become a great team player. He led the league in assists and was amongst the lead leaders in steals. Although he doesn't score as much as he used to, he can still hit a big shot (All-Star game).
[THE BENCH]
Matt Bonner: Acquired to the team for his range, he didn't disappoint. In fact, he picked up the 6th man award. One of the best 3 point shooters in the league, and this coming playoffs, he's on the right side of the Denver bench.
Mario Chalmers: Took a bit of time to adjust to his new role in Denver, but when he did, he began to provide a great scoring presense on the bench. Got a season high of 27 points against Utah. He was first seen as an after-thought of the Beasley trade, but now, he could very well be Chauncey's successor.
Ben Wallace: Doesn't provide much offensively... but did he ever? The man knows one thing: tough defense. He still grabs rebounds and blocks shots amongst the best of them. It's just a shame he's inept on the offensive end.
Arron Afflalo: Had a much improved season, as he saw more minutes. In the games he played, he looked sharp, scoring in double figures several times. He's brought his game just in time, as his contract expires this off season.
Ty Maximilian: Being behind Melo in the rotation, you're not going to see much game time. He showed great potential in the minutes he did get, however, he also showed he's a bit of a selfish player whose prone to turnovers.
Ty Lawson: Went from being an All-Rookie second team selection to practically getting no minutes at all. He might want to look for a new home in the off-season, because his career is not going to go anywhere whilst he's behind Billups and Chalmers in the rotation.
Robert Swift: Was mainly signed to the team to give Big Ben a rest on road games. He had an impressive debut game for the Nuggets and if he plays his cards right, he might get a contract next season.
Lou Williams: He had a season to forget. He fell behind Afflalo in the rotation and was seldom used. I wouldn't be surprised if he demands a trade next season.
