[b]Yea, I couldn't wish for a better record with the team I have. I think we finally gaining some chemistry and AI isn't attempting 30 shots a game to get 25 points. As for Hughes, he got signed by the Bobcats in the off-season which was a big loss for the Wiz.

Josh Howard scored 25 points once again and continued to impress

WASHINGTON, January 1 (Ticker) -- With everything going right for the Philadelphia 76ers, facing the Washington Wizards made things even better. Playing without injured star bench players Samuel Dalembert and Rashad McCants for most of the game, the 76ers rallied from a 5-point third-quarter deficit for a 102-96 victory over the Wizards, who have now lost 11 of their last 12 games. It was a total team effort by the Sixers, who had five players with at least 8 points and withstood a combined 59 points put up by Arenas, Jamison and Hayes, who kept the Wizards in the game in the 2nd half but faltered down the stretch. "We did everything that you need to do defensively to win the game against a good team," Philadelphia coach Jim O'Brien said. "Everything we needed to do, we did down the stretch."

For the first time this season, Philadelphia (20-11) has won eight of their last nine games and are nine games over .500. Neither of those seemed possible early in the fourth quarter, when a 3-pointer by Arenas capped a 13-5 burst that gave Washington a 91-86 lead. On the verge of their winning streak coming to an end, the Sixers responded with 14 straight points as Josh Howard and Allen Iverson - who combined for 48 points - both had a pair of baskets. "It would have been easy to fold and have an excuse that we were short on players and our stamina was low," Howard said. "But we have so much fight as a team and so much pride - that Philadelphia pride. That's what keeps us ready."

Simien scored 16 points for Philadelphia, which remained in first place in the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia is also closing in on one of the top two spots in the East as they are already in 3rd place. "We're peaking at the right time," Simien said. "The chemistry is there at the right time. Judging by what the doctors said, Rashad and Sam injuries aren‘t real severe so they should be able to play next game. Everybody is staying ready as a team. We know what we have to do to perform and win games, and we're willing to do it. We have a lot of tough players here, tough meaning mentally." McCants had a sprained wrist, while Dalembert ended up with a strained calf. Both players were injured in the 2nd quarter with McCants injured at the 9:09 mark and Dalembert at the 3:43 mark. The Sixers will host the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow and will try to continue their winning streak.

Josh Howard is the man... Will he make the Allstar team Mafia?

Iggy, AI and Josh on the East team would be quite an acheivement! (Y)

ahh....I see you got some new faces....Josh Howard seems to be a great fit (Y) Devin Harris is a nice pickup who'd I'd like to see get big minutes  Simien 6/21  he got a little too trigger happy....I've got a feeling AI is watching and will adjust his play (and shots) accordingly

I know, he keeps playing like an all-star, I really think he may be my star that can play beside Iverson along with Iggy. I don't think all 3 of them will make it, but its a possibility of two of them making it, but all 3 may end up being in All-Star Weekend.

I know Devin Harris hasn't been getting ALOT of minutes, but I'm trying to work him in behind Iverson so you know how hard that is. At least I know if Iverson ended up getting hurt, I'll have a good replacement in Harris. As for Simien, let's just say I attempted too many jumpers with him  It brought back memories of Webber

Nice wins, ( games above .500 now and rising. Howard and Simien are really doing great, you have some new stars on the rise... But I still think you should trade soem of teh surplus backcourt guys for some more frontcourt help, in case Samuel or Wayne gets injured...

76ERS VS. GRIZZLIES
FedEx Forum, Memphis, 6:00 p.m., EST

TV, radio: Comcast SportsNet; UPN 57
Records: Sixers, 20-11; Grizzlies, 15-15

KEY MATCHUP: SIXERS BENCH VS. GRIZZLIES BENCH
With two of the Sixers key bench players hurt, they might end up in trouble against the Grizzlies deep bench featuring Posey, Swift, Jones, rookie Turiaf and Watson. They have one of the deepest benches in the league, but McCants and Dalembert plan on playing tonight which should help out Philadelphia alot in terms of detph. After grabbing Devin Harris in the Mavs deal, he will give Philly's bench some firepower.

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers are currently on a 4-game winning streak and are also a season-high, 9 games above the .500 mark. They have the 2nd best record in the East, but things are still looking very tight as they only have a small advantage between other teams behind them.

INSIDE THE GRIZZLIES
Memphis is right at the .500 mark and they stand in 6th place in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies are also on a 4-game winning streak just like the Sixers which should make this a very interesting game. Both teams are also 8-2 in their last 10 games.

Thanks and thats a good suggestion by getting a few more big man. I can probably do a small deal without messing with any of my main core guys and going for an average big man that could possibly help out if an injury occurs.

MEMPHIS, Tenn., January 2 (Ticker) -- Pau Gasol, with some help from Jason Williams, were able to end the Sixers 4-game winning streak. Gasol scored 5 points over his season average with 24 points and 12 rebounds and Williams sank three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored 20 points as the Memphis Grizzlies kept rolling as they continued their winning streak and held off the Philadelphia 76ers, 94-84. "The bottom line is we executed in the fourth quarter," Miller said. "The last five or six games we have been trying to do the same thing by holding our opponents in the final quarter. Tonight we came up big once again." Fratello, who likes to preach defense and likes a slow style of pace got what he wanted out of Memphis in the 4th quarter when they held the 76ers to just 8 points.

"The players did a great job stopping Howard," Fratello said. "He had his worse game as a Sixer against us and in previous games he was averaging around 24 a game, but tonight showed how well we improved on the defensive end from last season.” With Memphis losing, 76-74, entering the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies started off on an 8-0 run, and the Sixers weren’t able to score until the 9:21 mark. "Coach Fratello kept us in the game and he's very positive," Gasol said. "I think the big thing here is that everyone on the team respects him." Gasol had 14 points and 7 boards as Memphis took a 51-44 lead at halftime. Overall, he was 10-of-14 from the floor. "Pau was very good tonight, very good, even with double- and triple-teams," Fratello said. "Once they figured out (Pau) was going to be too much to handle, they brought the whole entourage and he answered."

"We have been on a roll lately, so I wanted to keep that up," Gasol said. "I tried to come out aggressive from the start. That first quarter helped. Getting off quick helped get my confidence up." Andre Iguodala sparked an early third-quarter run with 11 points as the Sixers regained the lead from the 2nd quarter. Layups by Gasol and Shane Battier, and a 3-pointer by Williams helped the Grizzlies rebuild their previous lead from the 2nd quarter. Philadelphia's Allen Iverson scored 26 points, but with Howard not coming up with his usual 20 points things were a little harder. Howard shot 3-11 from the field and grabbed 8 boards. "I'm frustrated at my play, I had the open opportunities, but couldn‘t knock the shots down," Howard said. "I think this is the team for me and I want to help in anyway I can, I just hope I can comeback next game and try to help in a winning effort."

Gasol finished with a huge double-double of 24 points and 12 boards
Iverson attempted 22 shots which was the most he has taken in 7 games

I guess Howard has became a big part of my team to the point of where he needs to score in order for us to win. I'm so use to him scoring because every since I got him, he's been scoring in the 20's.
