Yea, they showed more of their less offensive side in the 4th quarter  Sometime its on AI, but if other players step up like Simien or Iggy then it wouldn't really matter. I have won plenty of games without AI being the top scorer though.

And about Howard, it was in my preview:

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers will be without the players they traded for because they are awaiting their physicals. Erick Dampier will be available tonight because he had took his physical the day of the trade. There is also a possibility of Devin Harris playing if his physical goes to the team before the game starts, but Josh Howard has yet to take his physical.

Tue Jun 28, 2005 7:19 am

Guess it wasn't such a bad trade suggestion from me after all.
I like the trade but I think that's obvious. :D

BULLS VS. 76ERS
Wachoiva Center, Philadelphia, 7:00 p.m., EST

TV, radio: Comcast SportsNet; UPN 57
Records: Bulls, 11-17; 76ers, 17-11

KEY MATCHUP: JOSH HOWARD VS. LUOL DENG
The new addition of Howard will bring in more defense to the Sixers frontline. He will make his debut tonight against Deng who is a long 6'8" forward. He is averaging 14.8ppg and 7.5rpg for Chicago. Howard is 6'7" and is a little lighter than Deng by 10 pounds, but he has the athleticism to guard Deng on the outside and in the post.

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers new acquisitions, Josh Howard and Devin Harris will make their debut tonight. Dampier was able to play last game against the Pistons due to the fact he had his physical done. Hoawrd is expected to start, while Harris is expected to come off the bench in a rotation to backup Iverson.

INSIDE THE BULLS
Chicago is ending the month of December on the wrong foot, with 3 straight losses, while heading into their three last games of the month. They are in last place in the Central Division as they stand six games back from the first place Pistons.

 Yea, you were the first one to post a trade suggestion then after I thought about it, I knew that was going to probably be the deal I was going to try and make unless there was another deal I couldn't think about. Thanks for the suggestion (Y)

Point guard, Devin Harris was happy to get on the court after being traded to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, December 28 (Ticker) -- Just when it looked like the Chicago Bulls were going to steal a win from the Philadelphia 76ers, Allen Iverson stole it back. Iverson stripped the ball from Kirk Hinrich to preserve a 99-93 victory for the 76ers who have won their last 5 out of 6 games. The 76ers were in control throughout and led by as many 22 points in the game, but in the 2nd half is where they had many of their problems. This one followed a familiar pattern as the Sixers went scoreless for more than four minutes and saw their edge dwindle to 93-89. The Bulls took possession with 35 seconds left and had trouble getting into their offense. Iverson poked the ball away from Hinrich near midcourt, and when Hinrich dived for the ball, Iverson picked it up and ran to the other end for the easy layup.

"I didn't want to gamble and give him a good look, and then somebody would have to help me," Iverson said. "But I did get a piece of the ball one time, so I just stayed aggressive." Iverson finished with three steals for the game. "Allen has a way of getting his hands on the ball at the end of the game, especially when the game is on the line," said Sixers coach Jim O'Brien, who used an entirely new lineup with the new acquisitions for the Mavericks. "He won another game for us this season that way." On Chicago's previous possession, Hinrich thought he had made a three-point play that would’ve cut the lead to 95-92, but he was called for a charge. "That's basketball," said Hinrich, who had 19 points and eleven assists. "You get some calls and others you just don't."

Newcomer Josh Howard sank two free throws to seal the win. Howard ended up being the leading scorer in his first game as a Sixer as he scored 23 points on 9-18 shooting and grabbed 6 boards. "I‘m just trying to fit in and I wanted to just play the way I‘m use to playing," Howard said. "I know that I wanted to get off to the right start and that‘s exactly what I did." Iverson had 22 points and 9 assists. Erick Dampier started in place of Samuel Dalembert and he ended up with a big night. Dampier, who was also brought over to the deal from Dallas, had 8 points, 12 rebounds and a block. Devin Harris, who came off the bench in his Sixer debut finished with 3 points and 2 assists in 12 minutes of play. "It was a great performance by him," Iverson speaking of Dampier. "He gave us some great energy and 12 rebounds. I think he had a few deflections, too. I think he looked comfortable in the starting role." Bulls sixth man, Ben Gordon scored 18 points off the bench for the Bulls, who have now loss five straight.

Nice Debuts by the Debutants! The team is looking good Mafia. Good luck for rest of the season!

Howard had a great game, I like the look of your team now, young, with a little experience, athletic, not bad shooting. Its got everything really even good D.

You should be a contender now almost.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 2:23 am

AI seems pretty conservative now, just 17 shots. How uncharacterisitic! :D

Not yet, that backcourt is on the J.Collins/Nenad Krstic level... and you saw what good that did the Nets in the playoffs. I think Batmaf should get rid of some surplus backcourt guys for some big man that can take charge come playoff time.

Nice win against the Bulls, BTW... (Y)

Thanks and yea I have to get use to Howard and Dampier in the lineup. As for Harris, I have to get use to putting him in behind Iverson because I'm so use to not having a solid backup PG

Yea, I like the way its shaping up. I don't know if I'll be finished dealing now or what, I have to see how well my team is doing. If I do end up doing a deal, it might be a deadline deal. I don't know about a contender yet either, I'm not sure if I want another star player beside AI or a bunch of good role players because thats' what got them to the championship in 2001.

Ruff Ryder wrote:AI seems pretty conservative now, just 17 shots. How uncharacterisitic! :D

 AI believes in his teammates more now  and he improved his shooting percentage

It's the frontcourt, not the backcourt  I use to think it was the opposite too, but after I kept hearing commentators say the frontcourt is the C/PF/SF then I start changing it up, but I don't see my frontcourt being THAT bad  I think its in good shape especially since I kept Dalembert and Simien is a stud in the game. I didn't realize how good he was until I played him a good amount of minutes in the starting lineup and Dampier can do just about the same thing as Dalembert as in blocking shots and grabbing boards. I want to prove to people how good Iverson is and that he can take a team all the way again like he did in 2001 and try to win this time and not lose in 5 games  That's why I'm not that sure about getting a star player or someone close to that star caliber to play beside him.

There might not be no update today because of the NBA Draft and BET awards so if I don't update today, one will definitely be tomorrow.

76ERS VS. RAPTORS
Air Canada Centre, Toronto, 7:30 p.m., EST

TV, radio: Comcast SportsNet; UPN 57
Records: 76ers, 18-11; Raptors, 15-13

KEY MATCHUP: ERICK DAMPIER VS. CHRIS BOSH
The size matchup favors Dampier, but Bosh has more quickness and athleticism to handle Dampier. Bosh has turned into the leader for the Raptors as he leads the team in scoring, rebounding and blocks. He is averaging nearly a double-double wiht 18.6ppg and 9.8rpg. Dampier was just acquired a few days ago by the Sixers ande made his first start yesterday against the Bulls.

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers are 2-0 since the trade happened. Their last game of the month is tonight and they are hoping to end the month with a bang. They have won 5 of their last 6 games and their margin of victory has been +16 towards other opponents. Josh Howard made his Sixers debut a good one with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

INSIDE THE RAPTORS
Toronto is on a 2-game winning streak after losing 5 straight games. The Raptors have a balanced scoring attack with both Bosh and Rose averaging 18ppg and Peterson averaging 17ppg. They are ranked last in the Atlantic Division where the Sixers are in first place.

Allen Iverson may have a new star player to work with in Josh Howard

TORONTO, December 29 (Ticker) -- Josh Howard and Andre Iguodala gave Allen Iverson all the help he needed. Hoawrd scored 25 points and Iguodala added 19 as the Philadelphia 76ers raced past the Toronto Raptors, 108-79. Iverson had 25 points and nine assists for the 76ers, who shot 51 percent (40-of-78) from the field, held a ridiculous 52-34 advantage in rebounds as they continued their winning ways. "We tried to limit their offensive rebounding and Dampier along with Simien did a great job of boxing out," Iverson said. "We took some good shots on the offensive end and we didn't turn the ball over to where they could get easy baskets." Philadelphia took complete control in the third quarter, when Iguodala scored 8 points. The high-flying sophmore coverted on a 4-point play before a baseline jumper was made by Iverson pushed the margin to double digits midway through the quarter.

"Allen's going to get his points, but if everyone else steps up on the offensive end, it just makes it easier for him and he has more energy for defense," Iguodala said. Erick Dampier scored 10 points and grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds and Wayne Simien added 18 and 12 for Philadelphia, which has won 3 straight games. "Coach has been telling me to look for my shots," Igoudala said. "The first three I took in the second half felt pretty good, and then I got a couple more open looks and starting being aggressive." Josh Howard almost had a triple double as he was one rebound and three assists short. "I really was feeling it so I was just trying to take good shots and I was able to get in the paint and grab some boards,“ Howard said.

Rafer Alston had 18 points and 5 assists as he led the Raptors and Morris Peterson and Donyell Marshall scored 16 apiece, but combined for 11-37 shooting. The Raptors shot just 33% from the field (27-81). Jalen Rose was held to 7 points on 2-7 shooting, while leading scorer Chris Bosh only had 10 points. "It's an embarrassing game," said Rose, visibly frustrated after the game. "We just haven‘t been on the same page especially after losing those 5 straight games, but at the end of the day we are still pros and you have to go out there and compete." The Sixers only shot 1-8 from downtown, but what helped them the most was their inside game and going to the free throw line as they attempted 34 free throws and made 27 of them.

Game Photos
Simien had his 2nd double-double in his first 3 starts
Rose only made two field goals against the Sixers
Iguodala had one of his best games at the SG position
Howard tied Iverson with 25 points apiece in tonight's game
Donyell Marshall almost fouled out with 5 fouls and he also had 5 boards
Raptors leading scorer didn't have such a great night
Iverson repaid Alston for the other hard hit

[b]Yea, I was pretty surprised myself  They had drafted Vazquez, so that was worse than Villanueva  Too bad the Raptors loss though

WIZARDS VS. 76ERS
Wachovia Center, Philadelphia, 5:30 p.m., EST

TV, radio: Comcast SportsNet; UPN 57
Records: Wizards, 8-20; Sixers, 19-11

KEY MATCHUP: JOSH HOWARD VS. ANTAWN JAMISON
In the first two games as a Sixer, Howard has made GM Billy King look like a genius. He is averaging 24ppg, 7.5rpg and 5.5apg in his first two starts. His main strength isn't scoring by the way because he is known for his defense mostly. He will matchup against Jamison who averages a double double with 19ppg and 10.3rpg. Jamison likes to take his opponents in the post so Howard should do a good job handling him.

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers went 9-5 in the month of December while in November, they went 9-6. Despite December being Iverson's best month, he wasn't able to get the Eastern Conference Player of the Month with Ron Artest beating him out for the award. Philadelphia is on a 3-game winning streak and has won 6 of their last 7 games.

INSIDE THE WIZARDS
The Wizards have lost 10 of their last 11 games and are currently holding a 3-game losing streak. The chemistry on this team hasn't been looking too good and they have the 2nd worse record in the league just ahead of the Hawks.

Yea, they couldve make no shots at all just about and I dominated on the boards.

I know, I wasn't expecting him to play this well at least not yet. I don't really overuse him, its just when he has the ball, its like he is Lebron or something on the court
