New York Knicks (4-6) vs Indiana Pacers (10-5)

January the 26th, from Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis

Knicks loose defense fight vs Pacers !

New York poor from the field, 88-91 for the Pacers

ImageImageImage

The New York Knicks were not able to defeat the Easter Conference leader, the Indiana Pacers.
It was a tough, defense-orientated game, in which New York was able to keep up with the Pacers.

From the very beginning both teams played very strong defense.
The Knicks didn´t make a shot in the first 2 minutes, Pacers led by 8.
But when Quentin Richardson hit the first two shots, his teammates started to play very strong defense, no basket for the Pacers in the last 3 minutes (!) of the quarter.
Knicks led by 2, 15-17.

In the 2nd quarter the game didn´t really change his face.
The Pacers ran their offense ober Peja Stojakovic, because Jermaine O`Neal was doubled when he only looked at the basket.
For New York, Stephon Marbury controlled the offense, Steve Francis took most of the shots, he had 11 points at halftime.

Stephen Jackson had to leave the court with an arm injury, he came back in the 4th, but had to quit after another collision.
Hard for Jackson, he was out for 1 1/2 week with ankle problems, now he will be out with an arm inury.
The Knicks still led at halftime, 36-39.

"We felt really good, with our defense and maybe started to loose concentration.", Stephon Marbury said.

And that´s what happened.
The main problem was, that they weren´t able to keep the ball away from Jermain O`Neal. He started heating up and added point after point to his many rebounds he already had collected in the 1st half.
Eddy Curry, he had an awesome gaem grabbing 8 offensive boards, had his problems to defend "JO", and didn´t get enough help.

The Knicks still weren´t able to hit the important shots, while Indiana got better and better.
Danny Granger hit a 3pointer to make it tied in the 3rd.
Fred Jones, substituted in for Jackson, hit 2 nice shots, got the ball in the last 2nds of the 3rd and made a incredible buzzer beater from top of the court, 30 footer.
The Knicks saw themselves down by 10 now, 56-66.

The last one got exciting. Both teams played well on each end of court.
With 2 minutes left, the Knicks were down by 7 points.
But Quentin Richardson didn´t want to make it that easy for the Pacers.
He got the ball and made a three, in the face of Danny Granger.
Pacers angry counter wasn´t succesfull, and Stephon Marbury dished a sweet bounce pass to "Q", nothing but net.

Peja Stojakovic stepped back into the game for Granger, got the ball at the baseline, threeeeee, made it.
But "Q" wasn´t impressed, Marbury handed it out to him, David Lee set the screen, next one. 3 threes in a row by Richardson, and Knicks only down by 1 with 1:10 on the clock.
But Peja accepted the fight, he made the next threepointer, in a great man-to-man battle with Quentin Richardson.
With 0:30 left to play Eddy Curry made it in, the Pacers weren´t able to make their next shot, and with 4 left on the clock, the Knicks needed a three to win or a jumper to tie.
Q went for all, ..................., and ended up with nothing, New York looses 88-91.

"No offense on "Q", he brought us back, it was only him, so he was the only one to give us the win I think, it´s okay he missed, life goes on", Larry Brown claimed.

The Player Of The Game was Jermaine O`Neal with 16 points 16 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Peja Stojakovic was the high-point man with 25 points. Fred Jones added 13 from the bench. Austin Chroshere and Stephen Jackson had 12 each.

For the Knicks Quentin Richardson showed his three point shooting with 5-9 and 21 points. Eddy Curry had 16 points and 12 rebounds (8 offensive!!).
Steve Francis scored 14 points, Marbury 13. He also dished out 8 assists.

Both teams played nice defensively, created a lot of turnovers, 20 for NY, 18 for IND.
The Play Of The Game was posted by Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury on the break.
The Dunk Of The Nigh goes to Nate Robinson.
And because of the nice defensive match, theres a "TOP-D play" presented by Nike, posted by Jermaine O`Neal.

thx, glad you like it, well "JC" is really disappointing, he doesn´t hit most of his (free) jumpers, and I have to say he is definitely a trade-candidat (rumourspreading :) )

marquis wrote:Yeah long recap. I have read it

thx, well "Q" isn´t the man for big shots, I finally realized that.

fasz wrote:damn straight loss but nice recap and nice video too man Very Happy

thx, glad you like it, well the play of the game is a favourite of mine, I like to use those FSS abilities like behind the back and highflyer stuff on breaks, and both in one break is kinda cool :) .

Hey Hova...is it possible if I could evaluate your proficiency stats(via your pstat file) once you get to mid-season(after 15 games)...I'd love to do a proficiency "Birdie Board" shoutout for ya!

The Real knicks are on the course to win 24 games(hopefully) with your percentage right now, you just need 6 more victories to beat them- percentage-wise that is!

Would be nice if you could do that, just tell me what I need to do (send you a file?), and feel free to post it when you´ve done.
And the real Knicks are not really good benchmark for me ;) , I hope I can do better !

New York Knicks (4-7) vs Miami Heat (6-8)

January the 28th, from AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami

"Q-Rich" leads Knicks past Heat !
Heat suffer 7th consecutive loss, Knicks win 100-97

ImageImageImageImage

For the Miami Heat it was their 7th loss in a row, for the Knicks a "big step we had to take". (Larry Brown)
The first quarter showed a very good performance by both teams.
The Heat didn´t play like they are on a big loss streak.
Dwyane Wade and Jason Williams had 5 points each, while Shaq dominated the boards with 3.
The Knicks struggled a bit before they were able to get some good shots, Steve Francis and Jamaal Crawford, who played half-half in the 1st scored 4 and 6 to give New York only a 4 point deficit, 26-30.

In the 2nd, Quentin Richardson started to explode.
He made 15 of his 32 points in the 2nd on a .80 FG.
Most of the assists were posted by Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury.
The 2nd also showed the problem of Miami. When Wade rests on the bench, most of the plays go over Shaq. But with doubling the Diesel, New York was able to force difficult shots by the others.

"We played a zone defense and doubled Shaq. When he has a good day, he can either post up, even against two bodies, or pass out of the double team to give you a 3-point rain from outside. Well it wasn´t his day, and so we made the right choice", Larry Brown said.

James Posey hit a three to give the Heat at least a tied game, but they were outscored by three in the 2nd, 53-53.

In the 3rd Dwyane Wade returned and made some big shots, including a three pointer, he took six shots from beyond the arc, since the zone defense seemed to be unbreakable at some times.
The Knicks did their best keeping the Heat of the boards and were able to make some easy shots, Channing Frye and Steve Francis made 6 points each.
But Miami did better, Wade was a lil bit unstoppable in this quarter, 12 points for him.
"Zo" Mourning had two great blocks against Francis in one minute.
The Heat lead by 3 with 0:10 left on the clock when Stephon Marbury hit a difficult buzzer beater to tie the game.

"That was kinda lucky, you know. I wanted Channing to block and give me the chance to go through the lane, but we misunderstood completely, me running left and he set the block for the right site. So I just let it go, it fell in, maybe an important one", Marbury smiled later.

In the 4th both teams fighted to get the win. Dwyane Wade was on fire, scored 12 points in this for 24 nd half points.
James Posey fired 2 threes. But only two players aren´t enough.
Shaq struggled, and the Knicks just played their game, sharing the ball.

Jamaal Crawford had 4 points, Eddy Curry, too.
Marbury and Francis combined for 10. With 1:00 minute left Marbury hit a shot from the baseline to tie the game 94-94. The Heat couldn´t use their next two possesions, while Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury did so.
With 4 points up and 0:20 to play Dwyane Wade hit his 2nd three pointer, but it wasn´t enough. Quentin Richardson made the freethrows to give the Knicks a 100-97 win.

The Player Of The Game was Quentin Richardson, scoring a Knicks season high 32 points 13-26 from the field.
Channing Frye had a career high 16 boards.
Dwyane Wade scored 34 points, James Posey 16 and Toine Walker 14.

The Heat were outrebounded 41-30 and gave the Knicks 21 free throws, but shot 7 three pointer.

The Play Of The Game was a break with the alley-oop finished by Nate Robinson.
The Dunk Of The Night was posted by "Flash" with a facial on Channing Frye.
"Mr. Buzzerbeater" was Stephon Marbury with his freaky shot in the 3rd.
