yeah, it was good....bought a few pairs of shoes (some And1's and some Sketchers), a few jerseys (Old School Swingman Bucks' Oscar Robertson, Swingman Lakers' Caron Butler (home jersey) and Swingman Lakers' Shaq (alternate jersey) - both only $5 for $80 jerseys....I know they don't play for them anymore, but the white one I can use in my bball league and they look sweet....also UCLA #23 road jersey....don't think it is Luc Richard Mbah a Moute though, so must be an old jersey of an old player, so if anyone can fill me in, please let me know  )....Hawaii was fav destination, then Vegas....caught an LA Clippers game where they beat Phoenix on December 10....Steve Nash is a beast offensively....Brand is also good....Cassell still has it, and the level of play is very good....got a little sick at times, food was garbage, pollution was very bad....Aussie is definitely a better place to live IMHO....but yep, was good....Europe is next major destination, and yes, Weaver, I will be checking out Greece and those beautiful Greek Islands  still a little while off though....

yeah, they had huge stock of old players (Shaq, Derek Fisher, Gary Payton, Caron Butler, Karl Malone) that they had to get rid of....I got 2 for myself and one for my brother....Swingman Jersey's are pretty good quality, stitching of names and numbers, not this screen printed crap....I think Swingman usually go for like $80 a pop, so was a bargain....I could have got an Authentic for $25, maybe I should have but ahh well, was on a fairly tight budget....

as for the UCLA one, I didn't buy it....my sister got it from NY....said it cost her $8 and it is stitched as well....anyone know who the #23 is, is it that African guy from Cameroon or is it a player from a season or a few ago?!? :?

my sister couldn't find a Andrew Bogut one though :(

Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:09 pm

Holiday sounded like fun! (Y) How long will it be before u go to europe? 5 years?

Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:18 pm

nah, not that far away....at the earliest, in a year and a half time....mid 2007....if I miss that which could be likely, might be mid 2008....so within next couple of years....but it would likely only be a 4-6 weeks one due to work commitments....

Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:27 pm

go to beijing in 08!

Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:44 pm

nah, no desire to go to Olympics....World Cup on the other hand would be sweet (Y)

it's a community discussion within my thread :shifty: I have no problem with it at all, provided it's good natured and besides, it keeps the dynasty active inbetween updates....how else did I make it to 32 pages last year?!?

I think Darko as MVP can be attributed to his high ratings and potential in Live '04 as a rookie....setting the bar high for ha

HA!!!

Yeah, good to hear that Zach is stepping it up, if you trade him or Telfair or Outlaw, I'll hate you.

yeah, pHLo....Germany is definitely on the cards....remember that my gf has some German heritage (her surname is Pfitzner)....she'll be coming with me and that's the main place she wants to go....would be good to go World Cup Soccer but that's not practical at the moment, same with Oktoberfest in late September, early October....but when I'm over there I'll definitely check out your country  but that's a while off, so no need to worry about it for a while....

as for dynasty updates, I will update tomorrow night....I have everything uploaded, it's just a matter of doing the update, but will be up tomorrow....

cheers

BLAZERS MONTHLY RECAP - DECEMBER 2005

December was a month when the tide started to turn for the Blazers as they went 2-2 to move to 3-7 overall, and still in the race in the 'Northworst' Division. The Blazers were unlucky to not go 3-1 for the month as they fell just short on the road in Indiana.

Performance-wise, the month saw Zach Randolph raise his hand and really step up and lead this squad and had 4 straight 20-10 games for the month. Another break-out player was 3rd year swingman Travis Outlaw who used a big game in Philadelphia to really secure a spot in the team's rotation. Outlaw has shown that in the open court and as a slasher, he is a very useful commodity. As his outside shot improves and he becomes more consistent, he really has a chance to be a pretty solid player in the league.

Looking forward into the 2006 year, the Blazers have shown some promise, but have a lot of work to do to even be considered as any more than a bottom-dweller as it is at the moment. Should be an interesting January and February as the team tries to get back into contention in the Northwest Division.

GAME OF THE MONTH (DECEMBER '05)

Each month I will do a quick recap of what I considered to be the best game of the month. This month sees the struggling Portland Trailblazers (1-6) host the Orlando Magic (2-3).

Dec 10, 2005 - Portland 93 vs Orlando 85 [4th Qtr INTERVENTION GAME]

Portland came out strong in the 1st quarter and took a 10pt lead to finish the 1st up 27-17. In the 2nd, they extend that to an 11pt lead at the half, 49-38. In the 3rd quarter, as the teams went basket-for-basket, the Blazers found themselves in a positive position to get a much needed victory as they led 68-56 going into the 4th & final quarter.

The 4th quarter was tightly contested as both teams wanted the victory badly. Each time the Magic made a run, which was often, the young Blazers matched their run to consistently hold a 6pt to 8pt lead.

ImageImage
Mario Kasun (above left) introduces himself to the world with this ferocious dunk; meanwhile Dwight Howard (above right) was a key component of the Magic's 4th quarter run

Late in the 4th quarter, Orlando mounted one last final challenge and got to within 2pts of the Blazers, but 2 key plays finished off the Blazers once and for all. With a chance to tie the game on that possession in the closing minutes, Steve Francis left the rock too free as Sebastian Telfair stole the ball and went the length of the court for the lay-in. After the Magic scored on their next possession, the Blazers desperately needed another basket and they went to their star, Zach Randolph, who delivered with a tough lay-up over the outstretched arm of Dwight Howard.

ImageImage
Some key plays helped to get the job done for the Blazers. First, Sebastian Telfair (above left) catches Stevie Franchise off guard with a terrific defensive play; while it was Zach Randolph (above right) whose basket proved to be the deciding factor in the game

Orlando (2-4) never recovered after that as Zach Randolph and the rest of his Portland teammates iced the game for the Blazers (2-6). A tough game and victory in a matchup that battle-tested this young Portland team was just what the doctor ordered.

The Player of the Game was Zach Randolph who had a monster game with 29pts, 15rebs and some key baskets and FT's down the stretch.

LINE OF THE MONTH

Each month I'll post a statistical line that really jumped out at me during the month. It might be an outstanding performance or a very poor performance by a player. Hope you enjoy.

Dec 22, 2005 - Portland 95 vs Atlanta 82

Image

3rd year swingman Travis Outlaw came out of nowhere to post huge numbers and play a clutch role down the stretch to help the Blazers hold off the Hawks at home. Outlaw was gliding up-and-down the court like a gazelle, and his slashing was lethal. He showed a little bit of everything on this night on the offensive end and also played solid D.

Outlaw has always been considered a great prospect with bucketloads of potential, but many thought it would never translate. He would dominate pre-seasons and then sit the entire season on the Blazers' bench. 2005/06 was looking the same as Outlaw got off to a rough start. But to Nate McMillan's credit, he stuck with the kid, and it appears the dividends are starting to pay off. If Outlaw can put up scoring numbers like these regularly, his big payday might come sooner than many thought. Watch out for this kid, if he sticks at it, he has a future.

ImageImage
Rumour has it that during the past off-season that former Portland great, Clyde "The Glide" Drexler helped Travis Outlaw with his game. With the way Outlaw has been 'gliding' to the hoop this season, it should come as no surprise

PLAYER CARD OF THE MONTH (DEC '05)

Image
Zach Randolph used his wide frame to dominate in the paint in the month of December as the team with 2-2. With more months like these, the Blazers might finally be back on track

That's it for this monthly recap, hope you guys enjoy  am trying to slowly get a little bit more graphically up-to-date so hope you like the card

cheers
