Los Angeles Lakers @ Phoenix Suns

Image
Suns led almost the entire game,
thanks to his 18 1st half points of Johnson

Phoenix Suns made their first basket, a 3-point shot. They hold on to this lead as they kept the Lakers trailing most of this quarter. Both team shots very well from the field in this quarter. But the big difference were Suns made 5 3-point baskets compared to just one by Lakers. Lakers, on the other hand, made 7 of 8 from the free throw line to get back in the game. Suns led by 3, 31-28 after 1 quarter.

Lakers continue to trail in the game even they shot better this quarter. Suns made a good job protecting their lead, answering all runs made by Lakers. Joe Johnson paced the Suns with his 18 1st half points. Lakers were led by Odom with 14 points while Bryant contributed 8 points.

KEY PLAYER OF THE HALF
Image

Phoenix Suns then got more help from their starters. After Johnson led the team in the 1st half, Nash and Richardson scored most of their points in this 3rd quarter. Suns already had 3 players with 20 points. Lakers were outscored in this quarter and now faced double digit deficit.

Bryant then again took over in the last quarter, he led a big Lakers run and slowly crawled back in the game. Lakers then overtook the Suns and led by 3 with less than 2 minutes left. Suns tied the ballgame with a 3 by Richardson. Mihm then was fouled on the next possession but only made 1 free throw. Butler made a big mistake when he accidentally fouled Nash while shooting a trey. That was the down fall of Lakers as they missed all their next shots. Suns then made all free throws to win this game. Shawn Marion was the only starter who didn’t scored in double digit but led the team in rebounding. Odom had a great game with his 33 points.

Some Screenshots from the Game
Richardson once again gave Lakers a big problem.
Lakers got a superb game from Odom scoring 33 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assits
Stoudemire and Mihm tried to get a loose ball.
Bryant again took over in the payoff period but fell short this time.

Los Angeles Lakers (5-5) Battle Injury-Plagued Chicago Bulls (1-6)

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) Nov 21--Los Angeles Lakers will battle Chicago Bulls, a team that was struggling due to injury their players have in this early season. After Ben Gordon came back from an injury, Chandler got hurt and will be out for few games. With out their starting power Forward, Antonio Davis will take his place. Lakers will try to take advantage of this match-up with Odom, younger, more athletic and quicker.

“We just can't get our games going. In 7 games we played, we used different starters due to injuries”, Coach Skiles T said.

Los Angeles Lakers, on the other hand, are on a roller coaster ride. After winning 4 of thier first game ,they dropped the next three, and split their next 2 games. They are coming from a lost against the Clippers. Odom played very well in that game and Bryant stepped bigtime in the last period. They almost win it but made few mistake down the stretch.

“Lakers are playing almost the same every game. They let opponets take control of the game and just try to win it in the 2nd half. In that kind of game, they will win some and will loss some", a NBA insider said.

Tonight's Key Matchup:
Eddy Curry vs. Chris Mihm

With Chandler out, Curry need to step-up and be the no. 1 option down low. Davis will help him in defense and rebounding but if Bulls want to have a little chance to make an upset, Curry wil need to score more. Chirs Mihm was not the same after that 2 mnor injury he have. a breakout game will bring his confidence back and this game maybe a good opportunity for him to get it.

Probable Starters:

Chicago Bulls (Season Stats)
C-Eddy Curry- (11.7 PPG, 10 RPG)
PF-Antonio Davis- (6.6 PPG, 5.1 RPG)
SF-Luol Deng - (11.9 PPG, 7 RPG)
SG-Ben Gordon - (18.6 PPG, 4.6 APG)
PG-Kirk Hinrich - (19 PPG, 7.4 APG)

Los Angeles Lakers (Season Stats)
C-Chris Mihm - (10.8. PPG, 9.8 RPG)
PF-Lamar Odom- (22.6 PPG, 9.9 RPG)
SF- Caron Butler- (10.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG)
SG-Kobe Bryant- (25.1 PPG, 3.6 APG)
PG-Chucky Atkins (6.7 PPG, 2.5 APG)

Butler was red-hot in the final canto,
making 4 of 6 in downtown for a
33 points productions

Los Angeles finally came in this game as the aggressors. They quickly jumped to a 4 points lead. Lakers try to run every time they have the opportunity and also showed a little more pressure on their defense. Bulls shot 40% from the field while Lakers were shooting a high 65 %. Lakers lead by 1 after 1 quarter.

Lakers continued their great game in the 2nd quarter. They extended their lead to 12 midway of this quarter. Lakers seem doing everything right as they outscored, outrebounded and show more teamwork than the Bulls. Before the half was over, the Bulls made a little run to cut the deficit to 7, 50-43.

KEY PLAYER OF THE HALF
Image

In their previous games, Lakers always trailed at halftime and made a big 3rd quarter run to make the game close or even take the lead. But this time it was the opposite. Leading by 7, Lakers squandered their lead and let the Bulls crawled back and tied the score at 62. Bulls were also able to take the lead at the end of this quarter. Lakers now faced a slim 1 point deficit and will play the last quarter without Medvedenko who injured his foot before the 3rd quarter ends.

Butler, struggled most of the game caught fire in the last period. Bulls had all eyes on Bryant and Odom and always leave Butler open. In 2 instances, Butler was open in the baseline and hit an open trey. He then made another open trey on the other side. Bulls then tried to stop him but Butler was able to make another 2 threes even with defenders in his face. In results, Lakers broke this game open and successfully protected the lead as time expires. Bryant was named Player of the Game with his 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Butler led with 27 points and Odom added 20. Bulls were led by Gordon with his 28 points while Curry added 19. Curry also grabbed 15 rebounds, 10 of them were offensive rebounds.

Some Screenshots from the Game
Harrington was injured in the early part ogf the game.
Gordon challenge 3 Lakers, finished the game with a team high 28 points.
Bryant goes for a reverse jam.
Curry was a monster in the board, esp at the offensive side.

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) Nov 21 --Lakers Scout A.C. Green flew yesterday to Philippines to scouts players playing in the PBA, the country’s premier league. He also watched some live games from the amateur league and some exhibition games of some collegiate team which features some of the promising players in the country. He was about to go back to LA when he saw a 6’10 player shooting around in a street court. He was amazed to see how great his stroke from the downtown. He even saw this guy made almost 8 or straight 3-point shots. Scout Green wasn’t able to seem more of guy as he needs to catch his plane back to LA. But he promised he will be back to see this guy again and maybe even talk to him.

This was the only picture Scout A.C. Green got:

Bryant goes for a fancy dunk to lead
Lakers for another victory at home

The game started with an early foul of Bryant while Redd was taking a 3-point shot. Redd made all 3 free throws. Both teams weren’t able to score after that. Lakers scored their first basket after 3 minutes while the Bucks scored their first field goal a minute after Lakers’ basket. This was a very low- scoring ballgame as both team missed so many shots, even lay-up and open baskets. Lakers shot 35 % while the Bucks just made 4 of their 17 shots for 24% shootings. Lakers lead 16-12.

Bucks recovered from a low shooting as they shot 36 in the 2nd quarter. But they still trailed as the Lakers shot a high 55% in the field. Lakers wasn’t able to take advantage of Bucks pure shooting as they committed a lots of fouls and let the Bucks get most of their points from the line. Lakers managed to preserve their 4 points lead heading to halftime.

KEY PLAYER OF THE HALF
Image

Lakers were surprised as the Bucks started the game with an 11-1 run and now trailing by 6 points. Lakers called for an early timeout to stop the Bucks momentum. Bucks was able to shoot better than Lakers in this period and now lead the game by 2, 57-55.

Lakers then made a very good job at the defensive end in the last period. They hold the bucks scoreless for almost 5 minutes in this period. Lakers jumped to a 10 point lead but after Bucks scored their first basket, they made 3 straight baskets to cut down Lakers lead to 4 points. Bucks even make it a one possessions ballgame with 20 seconds left. Butler splits his free-throws to make it a 4 points lead. Then Bucks missed a desperation trey and Bryant made a long trey for the final scores, 80-73.

Some Screenshots from the Game
D. Mason came from the bench to score 10 points including this dunk.
Medvedenko goes for a hook-shot.
Bryant was blocked by Gadzuric as he goes for a dunk.
Joe Smith made most of his points from offensive putbacks.
Vujacic goes for an easy baskets after Redd gamble for a steal.
Bucks made their first basket almost after 5 minutes in the last period.
