With all the money in the world, I think the only thing that AK47 wants to buy is some health. Poor kid goes down again. A crying shame for not only him, but the dependant Utah Jazz

GAME OF THE MONTH (NOVEMBER '05)

Each month I will do a quick recap of what I considered to be the best game of the month. This month sees the Portland Trailblazers (1-3) hosting the defending champion San Antonio Spurs (5-0).

Nov 23, 2005 - Portland 87 vs San Antonio 90 [4th Qtr INTERVENTION GAME]

Through the half, as expected the Spurs dominated the Blazers as they took a 16pt lead, 39-55, into the break. Something clicked in the Portland locker room as the Blazers dominated the 3rd quarter to bring the team within 4pts, 60-64, going into the final quarter. The momentum continued in the 4th quarter as the Blazers matched every basket that the Spurs made. A couple of key plays by Ruben Patterson helped them during this stretch, but it was a Joel Przybilla block that led to a transistion trifecta by Juan Dixon that put the Blazers up 74-70 midway through the 4th quarter.

Image
Juan Dixon's heroics got the crowd into the game as the Blazers took their biggest lead in the game

The rest of the 4th quarter was a see-sawing battle as Nick Van Exel and Robert Horry came up with clutch plays. The Blazers were up 87-86 in the final minute and the Spurs had possession. After a couple of misses and Robert Horry offensive rebounds, Horry was fouled and made both FT's to put the Spurs up by 1pt, 87-88. On the ensuing possession, Darius Miles found himself with an opening to the hoop with he took. Miles rose for the throwdown 1-handed slam, but Spurs' centre Rasho Nesterovic came out of nowhere to deny Darius Miles and give the Spurs possession. The Blazers quickly fouled Robert Horry who calmly hit 2 clutch FT's to give the Spurs a 87-90 lead with only about 7 seconds left on the clock. Portland struggled to get an open 3 pointer as the Spurs' defense was strong, and settled for a rushed trey attempt from Juan Dixon which bounced out on the buzzer.

Image
Nesterovic broke the hearts of the Blazer faithful as he came seemingly out of nowhere to deny a wide open dunk by Darius Miles

This was a heartbreaking loss for the Blazers (1-4) as they outplayed the Spurs (6-0) in the 2nd half, but fell short after some clutch play and defense by their counterpaths.

PLAYER CARD OF THE MONTH (NOV '05)

Image
Darius showed his versatility and skill in November, however he just doesn't have that consistency to put him up there with the more elite SF's in the NBA

That's it for this monthly recap, hope you guys enjoy  Thanks also go out to Mark who designed a layered card template for me that I will be using regularly throughout the duration of this dynasty....thanks Mark

cheers

yep, close but to no avail....if I could have picked up the Celtics and Spurs game, I'd be sitting comfortably at 3-3....ahh well, makes it interesting I guess....

yep, Miles took off from another area code....

as for the quick month, I'm only playing short seasons (29 games) and I'm doing a playing system of (full game, 4th qtr intervention, simmed, 2nd qtr intervention, 4th qtr intervention, simmed, 3rd qtr intervention, 4th qtr intervention, simmed and then back to the start of the system)....kinda backfired with Cleveland game as I intervened in 2nd qtr and was down by 24pts :( that's why I got blown out in that one as I was trying to close gap and didn't work....

Tough month for the Blazers but you did get a nice win against the Wizards. Randolph is your leading scorer which is good because that's what he's meant to do. The Spurs game sounded great too (Y) Nesterovic with the clutch

And sad to see AK47 injured :( but at least Deron Williams won Rookie of the month and I know he's capable of scoring big...

Randolph needs somebody else to step-up, Miles is too inconsistent and Telfair is still young...

I'm sure you'll have a better December though (Y)

cheers, glad you like it....now all the guys are getting their dynasties underway, it must be time for yours as well :P ....as for the Blazers, I've always enjoyed the tough road and rooting for the underdog for some reason....must be something to do with my upbringing and life I guess :?

I'm thinking you are happy to finally see a Blazers' dynasty in force

was a tough month, December is shaping up slightly better and no huge blowouts (at least yet)....that Spurs' loss was tough to swallow, but it was Big Shot Bob who was key and I can deal with that....and besides, you'll be happy to know that Randolph has been exploding during December and not just offensively, but on the boards too :o he's a nice force inside and I might try to get a big man coach next season and continue to develop his shooting range....Miles is still inconsistent, Dixon's play is slowly improving, but still streaky....but young Telfair is slowly becoming a revelation with a couple of 20pt games :P

as for AK47, Jazz can't catch a break IRL or in the game  good to see another Deron fan around the forum (Y)

for all you new readers out there (if there are any  ), like my Live 2005 Bobcats' dynasty, there will be NLSC draftees in each draft class....the number will be approximately 5-7 per class....I will also have about 5-7 college prospects and 2-3 Euro prospects in each draft....the rest will be the Guy Dumars and Julian Iwanaka's of the world that I really hope will take over this dynasty

if you want to be in my dynasty, all you need is a cyberface....if you don't have a cyberface, then you can submit interest, but it is at my discretion whether you will be in a draft class, and ppl with cyberfaces will get preference....

my email address is just_x@ihug.com.au, all you need to do is send your cyberface and profile to me and you will go into the next available draft class....profile will have basic details like name, age, positions, college, skill sets (not ratings as I'm not manually editing ratings this year, just finding best match for each person)....at the moment about 2-3 seasons of draft classes are already filled up....

Current Draft Classes

2006:

Andrew "X" Watson (Asia)
Paul Watson (Asia)
Travis "Coldsmoke" Toon (Asia)
Mark Moore (Asia)
Will Sit (Asia)
Makis "Dweaver" Hassakis (Europe)
Jing "jxuusa" Xu (Atl NE)

2007:
Robert "Jugs" Skrnjug (Asia)
Desmond "MaFiA" Jackson (US SE)
Florian "pHLo" Ruf (Europe)
Honor Glow (Pac NW)
Cyriel "ceekay" Klitsie (Europe)
Sam "Illuzionz" Anurak (Atl NE)
and possibly:
Leo "Seraph" Reyes (Europe/South America) or Cocobee (US SE)

2008:
Leo "Seraph" Reyes (Europe/South America) &/or Cocobee (US SE)
Anthony15 (Pac NW)
Zac "zman" Mousoulis (Asia)
Alex "cwebbiverson" Buckley (Atl NE)
Negative One (?!?)

and possibly, depending if they pop in or return or no one else submits a cyberface, then:
Silva "Melo" Biason (Europe)
Russel "MicchyBoy" Santos (Asia)

2009:
Free

If any of you guys listed no longer want to be in my dynasty, then please let me know....alternatively if you have a new cyberface, please forward it to me....aside from that....

enjoy life

The only thing really good about the 1-5 record is that you have two other teams that suck in that division and you not far behind the other two teams. Hope you can try and get it going next month.

yep, that college experience is really moving you to new heights academically

Thierry. wrote:Oh that was a tough month! 1-5... well good luck next month X

yep, I'm always a slow starter as I never do the smart thing of practicing the new version of Live through pre-season games  I've noticed I'm already getting better

that is true....it would be funny if I could drag this sorry ass team (no offense meant Jugs) into the No. 3 seed out West  when I started the dynasty I never realised how weak my division would be....guess this truly could be a dynasty where I dominate the division (maybe not this year, but for years to come)....

ShAuN wrote:Nice dynasty man. Looking really, really good man keep it up

cheers....will do....obviously all the good stuff (rookie scouting and off-season) will come towards the end and after the end of each season

Cable Guy wrote:What do I need to give you to get me drafted, X?

a) cyberface
b) player profile
c) patience

as I said before, if you don't have a cyberface, I could get you into a later draft after the cyberfacers get their chance for fame & glory....

email to just_x@ihug.com.au

if you need more details, check the front page or alternatively, check my Live 2005 Bobcats dynasty....

also, if there are any sig makers reading, I am after a creative, out-of-it, maybe even retro sig for this dynasty....let me know if you can help out....

cheers

Yay, I'm glad to see this dynasty is up and running again. Ruben Patterson is a tool, you should start Webster. (Y)

cheers....despite Patterson being a tool, he is probably my most consistent player outside of Zach Randolph....and despite only being 6'5", he's strong enough to backup at PF as well as SF since I have a hole at backup PF....and Patterson doesn't start, he's my 6th Man....he's started a couple of games, but I've settled on a starting lineup of Przybilla, Randolph, Miles, Dixon and Telfair....as for Webster, as with any rookie, esp. a HS-er, I'm bringing him along slowly....I figure as the season wears on and if the team moves further out of contention then my focus will be to develop his game by giving him more PT....

I expect bigger and better things from Webster in his 2nd and more probably, his 3rd seasons in the league....besides, no one really likes to see guys like Gerald Green and Martell Webster starting and putting up more than 15ppg  do they? outside of Lebron, you don't really see it happening much....

Ouch 1-5...are you thinking about shaking the roster up a lil bit, maybe trading Randolph for a shooter that can average more than 20 PPG?

yep, I luv the realism....who can beat a slightly overweight, undersized 24 year old SG and a supremely fit 25 old Greek with flailing elbows entering the '06 NBA Draft?!? When should I schedule my press conference?!? have to keep it realistic after all

 I missed that, I guess I liked the name zman better as it sounded less like TMac  ....but you are from Asia, as in the Asian Region....Aussie and Kiwi prospects get scouted in Asia....if you've noticed the Birthplaces, it is quite common to see a Rodney Chan hailing from Auckland, NZ  haven't seen any Aussies though....

Anthony15 wrote:Ouch 1-5...are you thinking about shaking the roster up a lil bit, maybe trading Randolph for a shooter that can average more than 20 PPG?

what's a new X dynasty without a horrendous start  as for the moment, there will be no shake-ups....I tend to like to give a team almost a year to prove itself (outside of minor tinkering)....as for Randolph, he is definitely sticking around....I'm weak enough as it is at PF, without losing him....and it's important to have at least one good post guy as they are pretty dominate in Live '06 (although I try not to abuse it)....but Randolph is moving closer to being a 20-10 guy for me in December  as for a shooting, most likely at SG, I'm happy to plug the position until Martell Webster is ready to take over....was thinking of opening up a roster space and a little bit of roster space to sign Kennedy Winston, a fav of mine....although Spider would likely get the cut....possibility that I'll look at dealing Ratliff along with one of the younger guys to open up a little cap space and create a bit more flexibility....not sure....

as always, I'm happy to hear opinions on what I should do, or what direction that you would go if you were in my position....I don't have a set gameplan at this point as I'm still learning the team's strengths and weaknesses....and yes, I know shooting is one of my weaknesses
