SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- Nash scored 24 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists to help the Suns to their eighth consecutive victory Tuesday night, 115-102, over the Utah Jazz. "Every time we missed a shot, they were out on the break," Jazz forward Carlos Boozer said. "Steve Nash is probably one of the best point guards in the game right now." Nash's scoring wasn't needed in the fourth, as Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion combined for 19 points in the quarter.
"We play hard, we play together and we play unselfish," Richardson said. "We play to our strengths. We don't have guys trying to get out of what they do best. Our guys stick to it. If you play like that and continue to play smart, you can't help but get positive results." "I though they (the Jazz) did a good job," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "But we just kept coming at them. Amare got on the break a couple times and broke their back. Marion hit a couple of big ones, (so did) Joe Johnson. Everybody contributed something." Stoudemire scored 27 points - nine in the fourth quarter - along with 12 rebounds. He took a feed from Nash for a two-handed dunk to cap a 10-2 run in the final period that broke open the contest and gave the Suns a 100-89 lead. He also put the finishing touches on the Jazz in the closing minutes, scoring a pair of buckets, including a three-point play and a pair of free throws on three successive possessions to seal the game for Phoenix.
"We played a little up and down, played bad here and there," Richardson said. "But we always know that at some point we're going to get a run off. In this game, it just happened right where we needed it to close them out." After making just 3-of-13 3-pointers through the first three quarters, the Suns connected on 5-of-5 in the fourth period, including three during a 9-2 run. "We got some key shots there toward the end when we needed to," Suns forward Shawn Marion said. "They made a run. They're a good team, but we buckled down there at the end, got some stops and pushed the lead out to where they couldn't catch up with us." The Suns, who have the NBA's best record (12-2) and finished their most successful November with their longest winning streak in five years are 2nd in the league standings behind the 12-1 Boston Celtics. "We had a lot of energy," Stoudemire said. "That's why it's important to be in good shape because in the fourth quarter, we really came out strong. We probably played the fastest in the fourth quarter to seal the game. Those key threes put the game away for us."
Boozer led the Utah Jazz with 20 points - none in the fourth quarter - and 10 rebounds. Andrei Kirilenko just scored 10 points, but had 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks for the Jazz. Utah had 7 players in double figures with three of them coming off the bench (Bell 14, Okur 12, Harpring 14).
