Steve Nash recorded a double-double in points and assists against the Bucks

PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- Newcomer Steve Nash continued to lift the Phoenix Suns to new heights. Nash scored 17 points and recorded 11 assists as the Suns won their sixth straight game, a 101-83 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. After a disappointing 2003-04 season, Phoenix signed Nash and Richardson as free agents in the offseason, investing $110 million. The moves have paid off early as the Suns (10-2) are off to their best start in 25 years.

"Everybody is contributing," said Shawn Marion, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds. "It was a battle for us tonight and a good test. We stepped up and conquered it. It was a learning experience for us." Stoudemire, who played just 10 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble, took over thereafter with 3 field goals and 3 rebounds in a 13-2 run that gave Phoenix a 74-62 advantage. Nash threw a no-look pass to Amare during the 3rd quarter that was an electrifying play. "You don't get a chance to practice that pass very often," Nash said. "It is a lot of fun playing with so many terrific players."

"You've got to keep your eye on him all the time," Stoudemire said. "Our chemistry is so good right now, so I can read that and I knew it was coming. I watched him the whole time, caught it right on the money and finished. He's always trying to create something, and that pass was just incredible." Michael Redd scored 18 points and T.J. Ford added 12 for Milwaukee. "We never died, we just kept battling," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. "This is not an easy team to play at the end of a back-to-back, but I feel our guys did a great job of competing." The Suns have defeated the Bucks 17 straight times in Phoenix, their longest active home streak against any team.

Thanks for the comments everybody. I'm still tryin to find ways to work with my bench. I didn't shoot with them that much in the game. Amare really impressed me in the game shooting 15-16 from FG. Another game update will be coming tomorrow

KEY MATCHUP: STEVE NASH VS. BARON DAVIS
These point guards are two of the best PG's in the West and possibly the entire league. PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- Joe Johnson carried the Phoenix Suns early and late. Johnson had a huge game and sparked an early run as the surprising Suns extended their winning streak to seven games with a 122-82 victory over the New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets weren't able to hold on at the beginning, only scoring 10 points in the first quarter. The Suns used an 11-0 run in the first quarter quarter to take an early lead on New Orleans. Johnson converted a three-point play and scored inside before Quentin Richardson drained a 3-pointer with 6:18 left to cap an 8-0 surge that gave the Suns a 26 points lead heading into halftime.

A member of the United States' disappointing Olympic team, Marion collected 25 points with 4 rebounds en route to his 6th 20+ point game of the season. "I took what was given to us," Marion said. "Sometimes if you get an open three, you have to shoot it because that could be the best shot you get." Stoudemire added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Suns (11-2), who are off to their best start since opening the 1980-81 campaign with a 14-2 mark. "We knew as a team we would all have to step up tonight and not fall apart at the end of the month," Johnson said. "We had to find a will and a way. I just tried to make plays when I had the ball."

Jamal Mashburn led the Hornets with a team-high 20 points on 8-22 shooting. The Hornets shot just 35% from the field with their star point guard, Baron Davis scoring 16 points on 5-16 shooting. "We were taking too many jump shots and weren't going inside enough," Hornets coach Byron Scott said. "We attempted 18 three pointers, but only made six of them." Newcomer Jim Jackson played a total of 18 minutes for the Hornets and scored 7 points for the Hornets (6-5).

Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:07 pm

nice to see you your dynasty back... i thought another great dynasty was on the way out....

thanks, i'm not going to discontinue the dynasty. i like this team too much in the game to do it. i made a promise to myself anyway that i won't quit the dynasty no matter what and just like the problem i had where m game crashed and the dynasty was messed up, but im still gonna keep going.

Looks like the Suns are on fire. 4 straight games nice job mafia.

thanks for the comment. hopefully i can continue the streak and i won't lighten up on teams just to lose so i would like to be like how the real suns are right now if i can.

Great game bro .... I love th johnson pass pic

yea the hornets aren't that good when i play them, yet they still have a decent record

Fri Jan 14, 2005 5:21 pm

i think its time to tweak your sliders to a much harder setting, the way you blowout most of your opponents and how too lopsided seems you need more challenge....

just a suggestions....

other than that, great update always love how you relate what happen in every game...

i was thinkin' about that, but i'm not going to change them until i see how i fair against the good teams in the game. i do have a good team, so i can understand for me to beat some of the worse teams. my schedule will start getting a little difficult at the start of december, so i will see how everything works out then.

nice recap. im glad to see JJ getting the minutes and the shots. 39 points baby yea!

SUNS VS. JAZZ
Delta Center, Salt Lake City, 6:00 p.m., PST

TV, radio: FSAZ; KTAR 620
Records: Suns, 11-2; Jazz, 8-6

KEY MATCHUP: SHAWN MARION VS. CARLOS BOOZER
Marion is dealing with another power player in Carlos Boozer tonight. In Boozer's first season with the Jazz, he is averaging a career-best 21ppg and 12.4rpg. Marion, who has switched from the small forward spot to the power forward spot this season is averaging 21.2ppg and 8.0rpg for Phoenix. If Marion can use his quickness against Boozer, then he can cause alot of trouble to the Jazz team.

INSIDE THE SUNS
The Suns are looking to finish up the month of November with a 12-2 record and on a 7-game winning streak. Phoenix schedule becomes a little more difficult in the month of December, so it is very key for them to win tonight's game.

INSIDE THE JAZZ
The Jazz started the season off 4-1, but since then they have been under .500 with a 4-5 record. They have also lost two straight games heading into tonight's game against the Suns. With the problems from former starting point guard, Carlos Arroyo and Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, the team has slowed down a little bit. Keith McLeod was uplled into the lineup and is averaging 10.6ppg and 5.5apg.

Shawn Marion getting one of his 3 blocks against the Utah Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- Nash scored 24 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists to help the Suns to their eighth consecutive victory Tuesday night, 115-102, over the Utah Jazz. "Every time we missed a shot, they were out on the break," Jazz forward Carlos Boozer said. "Steve Nash is probably one of the best point guards in the game right now." Nash's scoring wasn't needed in the fourth, as Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion combined for 19 points in the quarter.

"We play hard, we play together and we play unselfish," Richardson said. "We play to our strengths. We don't have guys trying to get out of what they do best. Our guys stick to it. If you play like that and continue to play smart, you can't help but get positive results." "I though they (the Jazz) did a good job," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "But we just kept coming at them. Amare got on the break a couple times and broke their back. Marion hit a couple of big ones, (so did) Joe Johnson. Everybody contributed something." Stoudemire scored 27 points - nine in the fourth quarter - along with 12 rebounds. He took a feed from Nash for a two-handed dunk to cap a 10-2 run in the final period that broke open the contest and gave the Suns a 100-89 lead. He also put the finishing touches on the Jazz in the closing minutes, scoring a pair of buckets, including a three-point play and a pair of free throws on three successive possessions to seal the game for Phoenix.

"We played a little up and down, played bad here and there," Richardson said. "But we always know that at some point we're going to get a run off. In this game, it just happened right where we needed it to close them out." After making just 3-of-13 3-pointers through the first three quarters, the Suns connected on 5-of-5 in the fourth period, including three during a 9-2 run. "We got some key shots there toward the end when we needed to," Suns forward Shawn Marion said. "They made a run. They're a good team, but we buckled down there at the end, got some stops and pushed the lead out to where they couldn't catch up with us." The Suns, who have the NBA's best record (12-2) and finished their most successful November with their longest winning streak in five years are 2nd in the league standings behind the 12-1 Boston Celtics. "We had a lot of energy," Stoudemire said. "That's why it's important to be in good shape because in the fourth quarter, we really came out strong. We probably played the fastest in the fourth quarter to seal the game. Those key threes put the game away for us."

Boozer led the Utah Jazz with 20 points - none in the fourth quarter - and 10 rebounds. Andrei Kirilenko just scored 10 points, but had 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks for the Jazz. Utah had 7 players in double figures with three of them coming off the bench (Bell 14, Okur 12, Harpring 14).
