Shame about the loss as that's ended any chance of equaling or besting the 22 game streak, but I expect you'll still be able to finish with a stellar record and homecourt advantage throughout the Playoffs.
Sun Nov 21, 2010 4:25 am
Seemed like a pretty crazy game in Denver. Shame it ended in a loss. If you can win every game for the rest of the season, you can tie the Bulls' record! 72-10!
Sun Nov 21, 2010 8:27 am
Andrew, unfortunately, win streak can't be passed, like you said. I've already clinched a playoff berth and the division, so another 60-win season is my goal here.
z02, unfortunately, from the upcoming three-game recap, it's not happening.
Sun Nov 21, 2010 8:39 am
Wow! On every video game Denver ,and especially Melo ,is a really tough opponent...
As for the other game. Nice easy win there.
You fixed your 4th quarter struggle as well, though on the loss Denver was just better, even for a little while.
Hopefully you can end up with a pretty great record, maybe around 65 wins ,which will give you the total advantage on the playoffs.

3-Game Recap
[52-10] Houston Rockets 108-87 Sacramento Kings [24-35]

Amar'e is the only one standing in Kevin Martin's way of a scoring title, and holding Stat to 4 points is a huge step forward.
A lot can be said about this game. Ok, for half of it. The Kings played well in the first half offensively. They were running their offense through Omri Casspi, who had a 22-point first half. Raymond Felton was also scoring in bunches, but in the second half, that all changed. In the third quarter, the Rockets bench was playing bad, so Rick Adelman got the starters back in, and they took care of business. They limited the Kings to 14 third quarter points, while dumping 27, and 28 in the fourth quarter. Amar'e Stoudemire spent the whole game in foul trouble, which explains his miserable 4 points.
Back to what I said about Casspi, he was held to only 2 points in the entire second half. Now that's defense right there. Aaron Brooks got his first double-double in a while, and Kevin Martin dumped 34 points.

[53-10] Houston Rockets 102-93 Golden State Warriors [30-31]

Despite Ellis's huge game offensively, Clutch's Warriors couldn't get the job done.
Jordan Hill is rapidly becoming known as a great interior defender, and shows Ellis some of that defense here.
A very fast paced game this was, like any other Warriors game. However, in the fourth quarter, the Rockets controlled the tempo. With the tempo slowed to halfcourt, the Rockets pulled out many defensive stops, and the Warriors' inability to get one themselves showed. Stephen Curry shot poorly, not even his wide open shots went down, but he still managed 17 points. Monta Ellis on the other hand dropped 39, and despite that the Warriors came up short, because of their lack of defense.

Ray Allen posterizes Corey Maggette.
[54-10] Houston Rockets 89-92 Orlando Magic [35-29]

Much to the Rockets dismay, Jameer Nelson returned from injury a month before he was expected to return.
A tremendously terrible fourth quarter made all the difference here. That, and Brandon Bass. He scored 22 points (on a perfect 11-11 shooting), and grabbed 10 boards, making up for Dwight Howard's lack of interior scoring. Jameer Nelson also showed up, scoring 25 and dishing 8. Using his big body, he was able to penetrate easily, getting past Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry the whole game. The Rockets just couldn't buy a bucket in the fourth quarter. They got to the line, but made only 4 field goals in the fourth.
"I was in the zone. My teammates were helping me out, and it's a great feeling to perform that well against the reigning champs," Brandon Bass said after the game. "I'm glad that my teammates were able to make up for my absence because of foul trouble, and we got an emphatic win," said Dwight Howard. Despite the foul trouble, he picked up a team high 13 boards. "When everyone becomes inconsistent at crunch time, it's a recipe for disaster," said a tired Yao Ming after the game. The Magic have claimed the season series over the Rockets, the first team to do so this season.

Denver is tough, especially in Live 10, where backcourt players (or shooters) thrive. The TrailBlazers game wasn't as easy, Rudy Gay dunked all over my defense.
A 60-win season is within reach, but performances like we had against the Magic won't help us reach that.

You seem to have no answer against Orlando, but at least you don't have to face them anymore.
Sun Nov 21, 2010 9:30 am
What did i tell you? Take care of your 4th quarters! You really spoil all your effort on the rest of the game!
As for the rest games. Amazing defense on the 1st game!holding Amare to just 4 points is an amazing job. While on the other game, their good was just not enough for your great on offense! Great job winning against the theoritically inferior opponents. Those games are must wins if you want to get a great record

Yeah, on the positive side.

Thanks to those two wins, they're first in the East.

Yeah, 4th quarters are beginning to haunt me, especially since they were fairly easy earlier on in the season.
I agree, you can't get anywhere in the NBA if you're not beating the teams you're supposed to be beating.
Andrew wrote:Great effort to get Amar'e into foul trouble and out of sync offensively. Shame about the fourth quarter meltdown against the Magic though.
Holding down Amar'e isn't easy, especially since he's the leading scorer in the NBA. Hard to believe I crashlanded against Orlando, I had full control of that game up until the fourth.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've had better days than this, but at least I only have one more day of school before going out for Thanksgiving.

3-Game Recap
[54-11] Houston Rockets 106-93 Philadelphia 76ers [27-39]

Andre Iguodala scored 37 points on jacking up a bunch of threes!
During a timeout, we listened in on Doug Collins' words to Andre Iguodala: "Stop jacking up threes out there, who do you think you are, Antoine Walker? Shot selection's killing us out there!" Yeah, that explains the game, shades of Antoine Walker in AI#2. Yao Ming had his best game of the season by far, see below for his stats:

[55-11] Houston Rockets 100-87 Washington Wizards [35-31]

Chuck Hayes knocking down a jumpshot at the buzzer just shows how bad the Wizards' defense was.
The Rockets clearly outplayed the Wizards this game. Despite a good game by Randy Foye (29 points), Gilbert Arenas did not show up, scoring only 13 points.

If Nash would just retire, I wouldn't have to endure watching him drop 18 dimes on me.
A match-up between two teams who have already clinched a playoff berth, and their division. It was somewhat interesting, but like the game against the 76ers, bad shot selection killed the Suns. They sparked a good comeback in the fourth, but Kevin Martin ended the Rockets' 2 minute scoring drought, ultimately stealing POTG honors from Steve Nash (15 points, 18 assists).

here's hoping you can finish the season on a 13-1 roll.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:37 am
Good to see you back on a winning streak and gearing up for a strong finish; can't see you finishing with less than 60 wins at this point. At least Nash didn't drop 30+ on you, certainly not an uncommon occurrence in NBA Live.

Nice winning streak man. No hard feelings on you beating down my Suns.
yet
I'd like to see Iggy's box scores. What does it say? 8-35 from 3-point land??

With me controlling Nash, it happens nearly every game. With the computer controlling Nash, it really happens every game!

Wait, why 13-1? Why not 14-0, or something like that?

60 wins are within reach. I've actually never had Nash drop 30+ on me iirc. He's more concerned with passing in Live 10.

Iggy went 3/10 from behind the arc. Doesn't seem that bad, but if you consider Iggy isn't the best three-point shooter, jacking up threes when he sucks at them makes him another Antoine Walker.
Thierry • wrote:I want to see some pics of Hayes shooting free throws.
I have one pic:

That's pretty much it. It's hard to get him to the line though, since he's the fifth option when he's on the floor.

2-Game Recap
[57-11] Houston Rockets 111-85 Utah Jazz [28-39]

A normal defensive possession for the Jazz, non-sturdy defense.
The pic above basically describes the whole game. The Jazz couldn't keep up with the Rockets, not even their bench. Turrible offense also killed the Jazz. Other than Deron Williams (35 pts), no one else carried the scoring load, and the Jazz were just demolished in their homecourt. "They ruined our perfect record early in the season, I guess this is payback for what happened," said Donte Greene, who had 10 points off the bench.

[58-11] Houston Rockets 93-104 Seattle Super Sonics [41-27]/Oklahoma City Thunder

Rookie memories for Durant?
The Rockets seem to have no answer for the Thunder. Despite having size advantage in the frontcourt, the Thunder still prevailed. How? Foul trouble. They got Yao in foul trouble early in the first. Yao has shown this season that a first quarter jumpstart is what leads to excellent games. Scott Brooks obviously studied that, and his team got right to work on Yao. Yao only put up 10 points and seven boards, and eight of his points came from the line.
Kevin Martin also had a sub-par game. He attempted more shots than points scored, and he scored 29 (on 12/30 shooting). Miserable. The fact that Aaron Brooks had a decent 13-point game is probably the only plus side, and Scola dishing five assists. "If we're able to beat the defending champions twice in a row, I'm sure we can get far in the playoffs," said a confident LeBron James, who completely bothered Kevin Martin's offensive rhythm the whole game. "They were clearly not ready to play. Getting this much needed win going into the playoffs is huge," Kevin Durant said.
"An off-night. Happens to everyone. I was just jacking up shots out there, I guess in anger that it just wasn't my night," Kevin Martin said after the game. These two teams play again in the same place the day after tomorrow, whatever score wasn't settled in this game will most likely be settled next game.

Heheh... LeBron in a Sonics jersey.

All season Martin has shot over 50% from the field, this game, he just started jacking up shots.

Early foul trouble was probably the deciding factor of the game.

I'm guessing 70's out of the question, but I'd pick you to finish with around 65, 66 wins at this point, which of course is still a great regular season record. Atrocious defense by the Jazz there.

I'm way ahead of everyone atm. The Jazz defense was inexistent, but there's also the fact that Donte Greene is one of my best backdoor cutters.

I'll have to lose at least 5 more games, which I guess is possible.

Definitely. The 16-game win streak a while back really helped me towards this awesome record.
