BOBCATS STEAL GAME 1 AS MEKA STICKS IT TO THE HEAT

FINAL 1 2 3 4 Total
Bobcats 23 23 25 28 99
Heat 22 30 16 24 92

GAME RECAP:

The game started with each team feeling each other out as each team was a bit tight, especially the young Charlotte Bobcats as the Heat ran out to a 6-2 lead. As the 1st quarter progressed 2 young stars asserted their authority on the game, namely the Heat's Dwayne Wade who went for 12pts in the 1st quarter, and the Bobcats' Emeka Okafor who seemingly kept the Bobcats close with a heroic 7pt, 8reb, 2blk 1st quarter. The 1st quarter closed with the Bobcats hanging on to a 23-22 lead going into the 2nd quarter.

Image
Rising stars Wade (above) and Okafor (below) exerted their differing styles in the 1st quarter

The 2nd quarter was all about the Diesel as he used 8pts and 5rebs to put the Heat up 52-46 at the break. He got strong support from Brian Cook, who had 7pts and 3rebs in the quarter. For the Bobcats, Arenas and Okafor combined for 13pts, which was enough to keep the 'Cats within striking distance going into the 2nd half.

ImageImage
Shaq (above left) woke up in the 2nd quarter, and there was nothing that G.A. (above right) could do to slow the surging Heat

The Bobcats came out in the 3rd quarter with vigour as they used swarming defense to hold the Heat to only 16pts in the quarter. The 'Cats swarmed on Miami's mistakes and scored a few easy fastbreak buckets. 'Meka was once again huge in the 3rd as he had 10pts and collected 4rebs and helped the Bobcats to a 71-68 lead going into the 4th quarter.

ImageImage
Wade (above left) and Shaq (above right) were hustling in the 3rd but it was not enough to stop the upset-minded 'Cats from clawing their way back into the game

The final quarter was epic with Shaq taking over the game with 17pts in the final stanza. However, strong offensive execution (Simmons had 6asts in the quarter) and 16pts combined from Okafor and Arenas allowed the Bobcats to always be one step ahead of the surging Heat. Going into the final minutes, with the game tied, the 'Cats stepped up again and again, and played well beyond their playoff experience would suggest. In what turned out to put a dampner on the result, Shaq got called for a charging foul against Gilbert Arenas, and the Bobcats closed the game out from the line. After reviewing the replay, it was clear that Arenas never got his feet set before he took the charge. This call was huge and deflated any of the Heat's hopes of victory in game 1. No doubt Shaq will have something to say about this controversial call.

ImageImage
G.A. was clutch in the 4th as he helped to key a run with this baseline 3 pointer (above left) and took a charge from the Diesel (above right) to seal the deal

However, in the end the Charlotte Bobcats did what they had to with a 99-92 win on the road to move to 1-0 in this best of 5 1st Round series. Look for the Heat to bounce back in Game 2, especially with the Diesel awoken.

Bobcats win, Bobcats win! Charlotte now leads series 1-0

Nice job on stealing Game 1  Miami shall burn in hell  I really like the pics too, looks like you did some good resizing and cropping.

'04 Draftees Wade (above) and Okafor (below) exerted their differing styles in the 1st quarter

If I'm not mistaking, I think that's a mistake because Okafor was drafted in '04 and Wade was drafted in '03

yep, you were bigtime in game 1....you're really stepping up as the runaway No. 1 NLSC prospect at the moment....and you're key to your team's success :D

yep, Miami was beaten, although it was tough....I didn't choke and did what I had to do....game 1 was a huge test for me and I felt I had to win it to stand any chance in the series....this is now a series :D

cheers, was a good win to start off the team's postseason run....as for the pics, I have to give some credit to Seraph for tips he gave me a while ago on cropping etc....

It's palyoff time, where realism goes out the door and the lure of the ring becomes too much for us to resist... j/k

That's tough man hope you get more time in Game 2.

btw. It's not too surprising you've won because Miami seems to have a hard time against Charlotte teams in the first round, well at least I can remember a sweep by the Hornets in or around 2000. Good win though. (Y)

damn,
now it's playoffs time and i'm late :(

i've seen that there are games played, but i din't look at the results...

my predictions are:

Sacramento vs. Lakers 1-3
Houston vs. Dallas 2-3
Minnesota vs. Memphis 3-1
San Antonio vs. Denver 3-1

Detroit vs. Pacers 3-0
Orlando vs. Washington 3-2
Boston vs. New York 3-2
Bobcats vs Miami 3-2

if u don't believe me, u can give me some penalty points... (if i got the same score as another user, he'd be in front or some minus points)

good luck to all the others :)

props to z-mac for that sig

Sit wrote:oh yeah X... why is Miami a number 7 seed?

Miami is a number 2 seed bro....I'm the number 7 seed  the Heat are the ones playing like number 7 seeds though

yep, it's the playoffs though....and I've cut my rotation down to 8 (Van Exel, Walton and Nene (when healthy)/Haslem off the bench)....and yep, I gave my man 1 minute of garbage time in game 2

ceekay wrote:btw. It's not too surprising you've won because Miami seems to have a hard time against Charlotte teams in the first round, well at least I can remember a sweep by the Hornets in or around 2000. Good win though.

you could have a point there....hey dweaver, another embedded code to watch out for

dweaver wrote:It's palyoff time, where realism goes out the door and the lure of the ring becomes too much for us to resist... j/k

What a game by Okie.... looks like Shaq doesn't play much D now at 35...

speak for yourself man, I'm playing the same way as I played during the season....and I shot 8/20 from free throw line in that game, so maybe I'm taking realism a bit too far on that one :o and remember, the simming part of the dynasty is suppose to keep my team honest

and Okie was great from the offset in game 1....no one else was the consistent threat he was....and Okafor dominated his PF counterpath Brian Cook and Shaq really didn't get going until the 4th quarter in this one....

Sit wrote:My 2 points and assist made all the difference! lol Maybe...

much like The X, it was your towel waving skills that helped the team get the W....

BOBCATS SHOCK HEAT AGAIN....ONE GAME AWAY FROM MOVING ON

GAME 2 (INTERVENTION GAME):

FINAL 1-3 4 Total
Bobcats 74 32 106
Heat 78 21 99

GAME RECAP:

Intervening in the 4th quarter, I found myself down by only 4pts 74-78, with a definite chance of securing the win and taking a 2-0 series lead back to Charlotte. The top peformancers for the Bobcats in the 1st 3 quarters were Bobby Simmons (20pts, 7rebs, 2blks), Gilbert Arenas (16pts, 6asts) and Emeka Okafor (13pts, 8rebs). Shaquille O'Neal (19pts, 10rebs, 3blks) and Dwayne Wade (20pts, 6rebs, 6asts) once again led the way for teh Heat.

At the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Heat came out strong with an Eddie Jones 3 pointer to set the stage for what would seem to be an uphill battle for the Bobcats. However, once again, as they did in game 1, the Bobcats gradually clawed the Heat back with strong, pressure defense and execution at the offensive end. The Bobcats needed no controversial call from the ref to sew up this game, as the Bobcats made their free throws down the stretch and win the game 106-99.

ImageImage
Jones (above left) starts the 4th quarter strong with a trey, however, it was Emeka Okafor and the 'Cats (above right) who once again imposed themselves in the battle of the Southeast

This win means that the Charlotte Bobcats now lead the best of 5 series 2-0, with the series heading back to Charlotte, where the Bobcats will have 2 chances of sewing up the series at home. The Bobcats are in high spirits, and with the return of Nene, who will suit up in Game 3, look to close out the series in 3 straight games. Can Wade and the Diesel turn this series around or are Shaq's days in the NBA numbered? One thing is for sure, the Heat will go down fighting and the Bobcats will have to earn another win.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

BOBCATS

B. Simmons - 25pts, 9rebs, 3asts, 2blks, 1stl (Player of the Game)

LAKERS ARE DEALT HARSH BLOW AS ARGENTINIAN ROOKIE GOES DOWN

Estatic to be only one game away from a huge upset over te Sacramento Kings, there were few smiles in the Lakers' locker room when they learnt that star rookie PG Leo "Seraph" Reyes would be lost for the series and the majority of the 2nd Round if they were to advance. Reyes strained his left calf muscle at some point in the 1st half, but played through the pain. After averaging 23.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 8.5apg and 1.5spg through the 1st two games of the series, everyone should have suspected that Reyes was not at his best as he had only 5pts in 30mins of court action. Team doctors suggest that Reyes could possibly play through the injury, however the Lakers front office don't want the injury to turn serious and have elected to sit their star rookie PG until the injury is completely healed. Reyes is expected to miss up to 2 weeks due to the strained left calf muscle. The onus is now on the rest of the Lakers to win 1 of the next 2 games and close out the series with 2nd year SG Barrett manning the starting PG position.

2006/07 PLAYER AWARDS

Individual brilliance was rewarded today as the 2006/07 season awards were presented. Here's how the awards were allocated....

Image
A fair call as Garnett wins another MVP title to his mantlepiece

Image
Ho-hum, Big Ben chimes again as best in league at the "other" end

Image
This is a ridiculous decision by voters as there were clearly 2 better rookies player in LA: Andrew Bogut (14.1ppg, 9.2rpg, 3.7apg, 1.81bpg) and Leo "Seraph" Reyes (15.9ppg, 3.3rpg, 6.0apg, 1.40spg, 42.2% FG, 37.2% 3Pt, 85.5% FT). Not happy with this one

Image
Another ridiculous award. Howard's improvement was expected and not the groundbreaking breakout year that one would expect that this award would provide

Image
Back to reality as Brent "Bones" Barry helped the Spurs in a big way off the pine in what the Spurs hope will be back-to-back titles in '06/07

I'll be playing game 3 soon, update either tonight or tomorrow
