Taking his talents to South Beach for a Miami Heat Association, as it were. (Assuming of course, Axel., that you're still making the switch when this one's over.)

"Association" instead of "Dynasty"...hmm, seems like everyone's getting new games. :D

No, it'd get boring just using the Big 3. If I were to do such a thing, Joel Anthony would be my star, and only star. I'm starting a Rockets association if I make the switch.

Anthony's just my avatar because of pure greatness.

Bring "The Greatness That Is Joel Anthony" into this dynasty. That would put the "nasty" in dynasty.

Who would Axel. trade to get The Greatness that is Joel Anthony?

I'm happy with my team atm as I said, nobody I'd be willing to trade. I'll let His Greatness stay in the struggling Miami Heat; they need him every game. (Y)

Only One Trade Deadline Deal?

After multiple trades back in January, it's pretty odd to find that just one deal was carried through before the trade deadline. And that was a trade involving two contenders: the Phoenix Suns and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

ImageImage
ImageImage

Benefit For the Thunder: The Oklahoma City Thunder has a solid starting five: 2010 first overall pick Ambrosse Rutherford at Center, Kevin Durant at PF, Jeff Green at SF, LeBron James at SG, and Russell Westbrook at PG. Other than a few key guards on the bench, they lack backup wing players. This is where Josh Howard comes in, he will be able to backup either Green or LeBron when they need rest or are in foul trouble. Howard had demanded a trade because he was playing behind Grant Hill and Von Wafer in Phoenix, and it was confirmed that he and Wafer had had a few fistfights. Overall, great trade for the Thunder, as they assemble a great piece to help them make a run at our defending champions, the Houston Rockets.

Benefit For the Suns: The Suns have great big men!!! They have Robin Lopez, Channing Frye, and.... and.... yeah. Point: they lack backup big men. Nenad Kristic is there to provide a great rebounding presence off the bench, and a decent offense for the Suns. With Steve Nash, Kristic is sure to play well in Phoenix.

The trade involved role players, and role players are always key to making a run at a championship. No doubt these two teams are planning a conspiracy against our Rockets, but it'll take a lot more to beat the reigning champions. These two teams are on a roll at this point of the season, and their new acquisitions are sure to keep them going on those rolls.

Waferstick, they're struggling to get above .500 I think, and battling for a 6-8 seed in the East. Jermaine O'Neal is starting over him, though. :shake:

2-Game Recap

[41-9] Houston Rockets 93-80 Detroit Pistons [28-19]

Image
Joel Przybilla was a key free agent signed in the offseason by the Pistons, and grabbed 13 boards this game.

After sweeping the season series last season, the Pistons fell to the Rockets, in what was a atrocious game for the home team. The Pistons were never in it, despite a few good runs in the second half. Not much to be said about this game, but the Rockets continue to make short work of any team that gets in their way.

Tough defense contributed to this very low scoring game.

Despite the fact that the Bulls are a .500 team at best this season, anyone who watched this game would think different. Despite lacking a legitimate center, the Bulls were able to keep up with the Rockets. A good first quarter start by the Bulls caught the Rockets by surprise, with Derrick Rose leading the way, who was the performer of the game. After a strong second quarter, the Rockets were limited to 14 points in the third, and this is where it all got exciting. Both teams traded buckets in the fourth, neither team getting a lead bigger than three points.

However, the Bulls were forced to take tough shots at crunch time, and thanks to some offensive rebounds, it allowed the Rockets to shave precious seconds off the clock. Though it isn't very likely these teams will meet in the Finals again this season, this game was played with that level of intensity, "After two easy games, it was good to find a team that can push us to the limit, but we secured the W through defense," said Aaron Brooks after the game. "When the Rockets get a good lead near the end of the game, it's tough to gain it back, and we experienced it tonight," said veteran Brad Miller.

The Rockets now increase the win streak to 14, just 8 wins away from tying the second-best win-streak in NBA history.

3-Game Recap

[43-7] Houston Rockets 105-78 Los Angeles Lakers [25-23]

Image
Kobe was held to a meager 13 points.

I'm sure the score catches you by surprise. It caught me by surprise. The reason for this was a bad shooting night for the Lakers, with added defensive pressure as well. If you look at the Lakers' starting five, you would think they could've at least put up a better fight. They didn't. The Rockets forced 13 turnovers from them (Kevin Martin tied a career high in steals, with 5), which led to many fast break points. The Rockets only committed 3 turnovers themselves throughout the whole game, and the Rockets increase the streak to 15.

[44-7] Houston Rockets 95-76 Sacramento Kings [21-28]

Image
Kevin Martin continues to dominate.

This game had the potential to be one of the best games of the season, but a cold second half from the Kings eliminated that possibility. All game, the Kings were holding down the Rockets. The Rockets held a brief lead in the first, but it was all Kings for the remainder of the first half. The Kings had a good six point lead at halftime. The Rockets would regain the lead a few minutes into the third, and would not look back, as there was an 18-point swing in the third quarter. The Rockets held a 12-point lead going into the third, and the Kings could not do much about it. The Rockets now extend to 16 wins in a row.

[45-7] Houston Rockets 99-104 Oklahoma City Thunder [29-21]

Behind the Durantula's monster game, the Thunder ended the dominant run of the Rockets.

This was probably the most hyped matchup of the season. Despite the Thunder's struggles early on in the season, they also entered this game with a winning streak of their own, at 6. Early on, the Thunder showcased their defense, with their starting center and first overall pick Ambrosse Rutherford patrolling the paint. He would finish the game with four blocks. After a mediocre first quarter by the Rockets, the tempo of the game would speed up in the second quarter.

The Rockets got out in transition, scoring buckets gallore, thanks to Kevin Martin. The Thunder also poured in their own points, with their Big 3 scoring in double digits. Russell Westbrook had 16, with a game-high 15 assists, Kevin Durant had 30, and also a commanding career high 21 rebounds, and LeBron James rounded it all out with 23. For the Rockets, Yao Ming had 18 points, with 14 boards, Aaron Brooks had 15 and 8 assists, and Kevin Martin had 29.

After some bucket trading in the third quarter, the Thunder made a push for the lead, going on a 15-4 run, with a ten-point lead. Kevin Martin and AB would fuel a comeback, coming within 2 points with less than a minute left, but the Rockets came up short, and their 16-game win streak screeched to a halt.

Re: Thunderstruck [45-8]

Wow, 30 and 20 for Durant! 16 seems to be an unlucky number for winning streaks. Still got a shot at beating 22 straight before the season's over though. :)

Kobe looks stupid in #25. Same with Bron in #24. Can you fix them both?

I always though Jermaine O'Neal was epic, maybe because he looks for trouble on the court.

As you saw, crushed the Lakers.... again.

Well he won Rookie Challenge MVP, but he didn't complete the double-double against me. :P

Thanks. :)

OKC Starting Lineup: C Ambrosse Rutherford, PF Kevin Durant, SF Jeff Green, SG LeBron James, PG Russell Westbrook. Yeah, not the smartest-looking lineup. Also, I mentioned it in the Kristic-Howard trade article above. :)
z02 wrote:Yay! The Lakers suck!!!

That's Live 10. Substitution logic is fucked up, so there's always 2-3 players who play all game, leading to buffed up stats like that.

He took over in the fourth quarter. Can't remember how many points he had, but he came up with some clutch buckets.

Didn't your streak also end at 16 in your dynasty? I think the Thunder may have also ended your streak IIRC.

Axel. wrote:Something big happened in this dynasty, and you're worried about player numbers? :shake:

You think the real Kobe and Lebron would let their numbers get messed up? It's for realism, amigo...

What would you feel if Kev-Mart's number was the one that got messed up?

Re: Thunderstruck [45-8]

Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:23 am

Seriously, isn't it obvious I can't fix it? If it'd be possible to fix it, I would've done it a long time ago, but since it's not, I can't do it.

You know, I really wouldn't care if K-Mart's number got messed up because one, I'd be able to fix it since he's on my team, and two, this is only a VIDEO GAME!!! So yeah, if you're gonna worry about minor details like that, you better go to a doctor because you may have a case of OCD.

Really. It's not a big deal.

Nice defeat of the Lakers!  :applaud: :applaud:   :applaud: :applaud:

OKC killed your winning streak though. :(

Re: Thunderstruck [45-8]

Mon Nov 08, 2010 4:02 am

I don't know who's better. That Thunder team, or the real life Heat. Anyway, tough loss, even though you know how much I like seeing you lose. Your dynasty and my association are like night and day. And it's strange seeing the Lakers go down so easily too. What's with their almost .500 record?
