Resigning your own players in dynasty mode

Postby kingjames23 on Fri Oct 03, 2008 11:22 am

please tell me they fixed this? i was livid when i couldn't resign Kobe Bryant on my LIVE 08 dynasty. he was asking 20.4 million a year and i wasn't allowed to offer him more than 17.9 or something. aren't nba teams able to go over the salary cap to resign guys? team chemistry was perfect, so that had nothing to do with it.... i just don't get it. it pretty much ruined my dynasty. all my high profile guys refused to resign, no matter what i did.

Hopefully not, though I won't know for sure until I get the game. Unfortunately, you don't get to see every scenario played out and not every issue is apparent during hands-on time at the Community Events.

does everybody have this problem in the 08 version? my free agent pool is loaded with superstar players who wont sign with anybody, and half of them are my own guys i swear. i almost prefer how it was back in the day, when all unsigned players would sign for the minimum for a season... sure it was unrealistic and you could have a stacked team if you wanted to... but having your guys not resign because you arent ALLOWED to offer then more money? (bullshit) my roster is down to 8 guys and i am way over the cap with no good players to show for it in my 5th season... how the hell?

I must admit I didn't come across that happening very often, at least not in 08. It was quite common back in the days of NBA Live 2003 and NBA Live 2004.

In 09 I think you can go over the cap to sign players thats what I did for Mayo and Augustine

Is there any way to resign guys during the season so they don't go into the offseason as free agents? I've got a lot of guys in the last year of their contracts and I'm not looking forward to having to try and resign them all with other teams offering contracts too.

No, you can't do that. Unfortunately you can't negotiate extensions an offseason or two in advance either, though that would be a nice feature (and certainly realistic).

This is the first dynasty I've done with this game. Is it difficult to resign these guys at the end of the year?

Not really, you should be able to keep most of them (if not all of them) so long as you can give them what they're asking for.
