Just look at MVP 2005, EA stopped making the game but the MVP community is still very much alive.

Well, MVP 2005 is a damn awesome game. The datafile allows all aspects of the gameplay to be edited alot easier then the aiact file in NBA Live. They have been working on changing the commentators for quite some time now.

We should send a petition to 2K sports to port their game to the PC. Now that they don't have any competition, they'll clean up. That'd send the BIGGEST F U to EA. I am so sick of this worthless company. They haven't released a single decent title in years.

The Need for Speed titles were awesome until they decided to go ghetto and "trick out Hondas and shit. " And make all the races at midnight" What ghetto garbage is that. You really think I want to drive souped up Honda Civics versus a Ferrari?

Then they killed Origin and Legend by taking them over and killing the programmers' creativity.

This damned conglomerate is like Unicron, except instead of swallowing whole planets, it's swallowing small but good game-publishing companies and destroying them.

Actually I do wonder there are still no development teams focusing on open source sports games, which is for example the case with racing or flight simulators. I believe this is pretty much the only way to go, somebody here already noted we should develop our own game and that's I believe what will have to come sooner or later. EA became the only producer of basketball games for the PC platform and we kept our hope over the years but hey, business world is f..ked up, we all know that, it never comes up with anything real. I guess it's about time to show those "suit & a tie" bastards we don't actually need their crap...

shitheads EA sports!!! When they told about NBA 09, which would be different and more nicer than older versions, like 08, 07 and etc. Probably EA afraid of 09 hard work on PC - next gen and other things in the list, that we sent. i think, i will never buy EA games, so F - off!!!

And look for the future: patchers will create patches and rosters for nba 08, like F - 1 99 - 02. next year we will have NBA live 09, but only at 08 :(

I hope that NBA live series creating will intercept other company. Like Nival and Ubisoft intercepted Heroes series from 3DO

Huh, doesn't matter what I say, or if Andrew stickies five more times, you still go on saying how bad EA is. I thought you just said if they release 2010, you will buy it.
That would be from EA.

Atleast EA aren't pretending to care anymore. Atleast they're not hyping up their next crappy release with a bunch of the same-old marketing talk just for you to find out your game's messy, unplayable, outdated and on and on and on...

Essentially this can be a good thing, opening up a hole in the market for PC Gamers for a software developer with a conscience to enter.

Not a bother, the thing about quality is that you want more of it.

Yeah, strange how that works. People having wills outside of your own.

Well, first of all, this is an opinion.
For Madden 09 Peter Moore (EA Sports President) announced it personally in his blog.
But for NBA 09 only a post by EAcrazylegs was said.

I did some research on the subject and found the following:
NBA 08 was developed by HB Studios (hb-studios.com) for PC and PS2 and became the only studio in the ea sports industry to develop PC or PS2 games.
In the HB Studios Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HB_Studios) it says they are currently deveoping 4 titles for EA Canada (NBA 09, NHL 09, and two unknown) while just finishing UEFA EURO 2008 (FIFA's mid season release).
And Peter Moore (EA Sports President) blog (http://itsinthegame.ea.com) wrote a post on March 14th titled "February 20th" that talks about a visit to EA Canada and says "Our core franchises out of this studio, FIFA, NBA, and NHL, are all looking very good and the teams are crunching as they all get ready for alpha milestones."

I don't know what you think of this, but I think the information about NBA 09 cancelled for PC is not true.

There's no explicit reference to the PC version of NBA Live in the blog entry you mentioned and it's also a month old. The announcement that was posted in the official forums was not from a random member speculating, it was from someone who is involved with the NBA Live production team. You can choose to believe whatever you want but I think you're in for a major disappointment.

You may be right. I don't know how involved are forum modders with the development of games, but surely they can get answers better than the rest. Also weird is the reply in that post by another EA guy. I don't know, April fool's? I'm not from the US so i don't know if its only on April 1st or any April day. Did you get an answer or have some reliable information or are you trusting on the same post?

The first post was made by an EA employee, not just a volunteer on their boards, I also have emails backing up that announcement. It's definitely not an April Fool's joke, it would certainly be poorly timed if it was seeing as though that tradition only takes place on April 1st.

Haha all of us were so sure that Live 09 will have next-gen graphics. EA really f**ked us this time. I wont be surprised if this is true. Consoles are the main focus for everyone, and this happened with NBA Live 2002 as well, so yeah, really dont care anymore.

I can tell you that FIFA and NHL are next to be axed. Maybe even Tiger Woods.

NHL yes, Tiger Woods maybe.

FIFA is a different story because FIFA is huge in Europe and the rest of the world. I don't know why people buy FIFA because Pro Evolution Soccer is much better. Thank God Konami is releasing PES for the pc now.

Now we only need 2K Sports to release NBA 2Kand NHL 2K on pc.
