NBA Live 2010 Promised Fixes

Postby fjccommish on Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:09 am

Seems like game development is more a partnership between the developers and users than ever. To help with this process I have created a list of fixes promised for the 2010 game.

Game testing is a huge task. So if the community helps the developers by reminding them of what needs to be fixed, what has been promised to be fixed, and requests to see the fixes in action in the 2010 version, it should help ensure a better game experience.

A wishlist is a complete list of wants for the next game, including new features as well as fixes to old problems. Old problems tend to get lost in the shuffle of "let's have sweat pants on guys on the bench" and "it would be cool to be able to design our own tattoos."

The promise list is a list of currently broken basic game features that have been promised to be fixed for 2010. These are things like lack of fast breaks and players never being inserted into the lineup after recovering from an injury.

Personally, that short list of broken things to be fixed for 2010 will have to be seen as fixed before I purchase the game. The list is to help avoid situations where new features are added only to see old problems not fixed, or even worse, new problems created.

If the wishlists contained a section of "these things were broken, and EA promised to fix them," then it would replace the promise list.

That's part of the Wishlist too though, specifically under the heading "Things to Avoid/Fix". We've been trying to tailor the Wishlist to not only ask for new things but further emphasise things that need to be fixed (including bug reports) and features we want to see remain in the game, so the development team has a better idea of what we like and what we don't, what's popular and what isn't, etc.
