In Steam, go to File -> Check for Steam client updates.

Is it your Steam country set as Israel or the United States?

Some games can't be used in different countries. (I have no idea how to do this, just know some people in other countries who have done it.)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600(2.40GHz)
RAM 3GB DDR2 800
Dual 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

You can make the jersey whatever you want it to be, check out my texmod tutorial over at www.nbavg.org

Just got the game. I've got an entirely different problem with the install. After installing steam and updating it, I click on the Setup file on the DVD. I click next and then nothing. No question about an activation key. Nothing happening on my machine. It just looks frozen and the DVD keeps spinning. WTF? Steam is also not responding to any commands.

benji, first of all thanks.

i try to solve this fu*** problem all day long. i really wanna make this game going. especially after i bought an original copy... :-)

I fixed the problem. Turns out that Steam doesn't like Alcohol 120%, PowerISO, or any other programs that they think are being used to circumvent their copy protection. Utterly retarded. If I didn't have the know how to use Regsupreme Pro and other programs to clean my registry, I'd never have been able to play the official 2k9 copy that I paid for. I hate it when games make you jump through hoops to install. Took me 2 hours of cleaning my registry and uninstalling potentially "suspect" programs to install 2k9. Meanwhile, friends who didn't buy their copy have it completely clean on their machine with no muss no fuss. Just like gun laws, copy protection only impacts the law-abiding people who actually pay attention and follow the rules.

It's not Steam. I've had all those programs and Steam doesn't mind. It's whatever other copy protection is on the disc probably.

Now re-install those programs and never touch the disc again. (You can just download the game through Steam if you want to reinstall.)

Yeah, I'm going to try that. I didn't want to de-activate the game by installing one of those virtual CD managers. Great game. Just the install problems are a bummer.

JaoSming, small question i get the game finaly (have a cd key) do i need to download steam from the site or just the steam that come with the game?

Just install steam and it should update itself. They are all the same steam.

but the update is moving very very slow (do i need to log in to the site when i update steam?)

Steam updates itself through the client. It may be slow because it has alot to download, or you may have a slow connection, or a combination of both.

A. What is client?
B. I mean the 1st update right before the game start install itself.
Is there any why to get the steam files in anther way.

It's simple. "Steam" is the client. It is what it's called. You don't need to go to a website, you just start it and it updates if it needs to. No other way to get the steam files, but if it is still going, thee is something wrong. Close it and start it back up again, see if there is any difference.

Seems like there are more people who got frustrated than me. When i first started the game I have had issues with loading or finding the game through steam on line or offline. The tech support people whom i bought the game from didnt know what they were saying.
