Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

OFFENSE, DEFENSE, OVERALL

Postby Eneirda on Mon Mar 29, 2010 2:13 am

why do these factors always change in my game? do the practice drills affects this? can somebody tell me the good practice drills ORDER to make these 3 factors balanced? ( ie: defense>shootout>rebound>close range>defense) i mean, when i focus my practice on defense, my offense lowers a lot and vice versa. tips would be very much appreciated! thanks mates!

If you are talking about weekly practices, yes they change your ratings temporarily. Practice on what you think is lacking on your team using "normal" intensity every day. I do all of them as much as I can, focusing more on the ones that increase the most ratings, like defense, close range, fast break, and shootaround when I don't have enough days off between games. I like to give them a day off every few days, but I am not sure if that matters since their fatigue seems fine after one day of "normal" practice intensity. I don't like "intense" practices since they cause alot more fatigue which the players need several days to recover from and it only increase the ratings by one over a "normal" intensity practice.

Beware of practicing too much because it really inflates your players ratings and cause them to think they should have a better role and more minutes, lowering their morale and ratings.

There was a bug in the development drills that caused some ratings to decrease, but I don't remember it being in 2K9, only in 2K10.

and sir, what is the "down arrow" beside the players rating? ie: kirk hinrich's rating is 80 but there is a red "down arrow 7" beside his number. does it mean that his rating is down to 73?

No, it means he is down to 80 from 87. Might want to check his player card to see what his morale is like and if he is complaining.
