NBA LIVE 08: ESPN HD II

Hello, my name is Rico and I'm new here in this forum. In my first post here, I want to inform you guys that I'm a professional modder, graphic artist, Flash user, etc. I've got a CD of NBA LIVE 08 as a gift last year. This game is the currently only game in PC as of today (NO NBA LIVE 10). I love this game so much that I started modifying it after two months. I surfed the net for mods of this game and I found tons of it. I found this ESPN HD mod, which is one of the best mods in NBA LIVE series. I've decided to continue or make sequel of this mod. Below is the list of my mods in NBA LIVE 08 as of now:

+=New Jerseys=+ - HD (1024 by 1024 px), corrected colors, logos, scripts, and canvasses.
+=New Player Faces=+ - HD (512 by 512 px), corrected file names, colors, tattoos, and updated as of 2009-2010 season.
+=New Player Roster=+ - corrected jersey numbers, positions, teams, free agency, retired, and injuries.
+=New Logos=+ - HD, corrected colors, logos features, some are in 3Ds, updated logo events (e.g. Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Shootut)
+=Updated Jerseys=+ - added and completed throwback jerseys, added Finals jerseys, updated practice jerseys, added and updated current jerseys (away, road, alternative).
+=New Gears=+ - HD, added and improved sneakers, new socks, new and updated head bands, corrected gear positions, added new gears (e.g. lower elbow).
+=Updated Coaches and Referees=+ - added and removed coaches in 2009-2010 season, new referees' uniforms.
+=New Facilities=+ - HD, updated courts, seats, crowd animations, lighting, stadium style, new practice court.
+=Gameplay=+ - fixed simulation, updated players' ratings, updated teams' ratings, fixed fatigue effect, fixed auto-substitution, fixed gameplay settings
+=EA Trax=+ - new songs, HD album covers.
+=Animations=+ - fixed, updated, and added animations (e.g. sig shots, dunks, layups, ball handling and ball dribbling).
+=Interface=+ - new welcome screens (the whole game and when you play - thanks to za man), new loading screens, scoreboard.

These are just my mods already finished and I need to upload these by parts.If anyone is free to help me, you may as long as you'll finish your mods.

Any chance speech files can be updated in the game? As far as I know, that's the last unchartered territory in Live08. Would be great to be able to add/modify players, coaches' speech files.

Guys, I will release the jerseys one by one (each are kinda big size) maybe next month because it takes time to render the files. Please be patient as I finish these files from Hawks to Wizards. I may also release next month the updated and new FIBA jerseys, 50s-90s All-Star jerseys and All-Star jerseys. Hope you guys help in this big project. I really want to regain back the obsession of NBA 2k9 fans to NBA LIVE 08 again as I release my mods. Just request me or pm me if you want to help me. Thanks a lot!!

Tibs, I appreciate your expectation for me. Every fans who has modded version of NBA LIVE 08 has these problem - audio files. Announcers in the arena just speak out the jersey number if they don't know the names. So far, no software or any way to solve this disgusting problem. There's a software made exclusively for NBA LIVE 06 and tutorial how to add names in the audio out there. I'll try to find it and if I can, I will modify that software to be able used in NBA LIVE 08. Just hope for it. Thanks a lot.

Guys, many fans of modding are asking me these questions and now I gonna tell the truth...

Did you really made these thing by yourself?
- Absolutely yes. What I said before, I'm expert in any graphic or animations. I just got help from other modder (e.g. za man for ESPN HD as my guide, and SAG275 for his jersey template which I modified.)

Does these things eat up RAM?
- Maybe. My files are kinda big so it will make your game slow. This will not happen if you have fast internet connection, 75 GB+ hard disk size, at least free 10 GB hard disk size, video card( I recommend NVIDIA, ATI and G-FORCE because I have these there video cards in my PC), and 512 MB+ RAM.

When you'll finish this project?
- For some personal reasons, maybe it will take less than a year or more. Sorry guys for that but I promise, NBA LIVE 08 will live up your expectations.

Are you going to upload screen-shots, tutorials, or templates?
- Absolutely yes. Of course, I wanna share my skills to others who are interested and maybe someday they might be greater than me (I'm not saying I'm greater than you )

How many help you want to receive in this project?
- As many as it can, the more, the better. I don't wanna do this alone. I want as a group so that it will be a good project. A good project needs members not only me. (that's too selfish if only me)

Do your jerseys crash the game?
- Absolute no. 100% sure it will not crash game if you'll just follow my instruction when I upload he jerseys. These jerseys are 1024px by 1024 px which 4x than the original EA art file. Some said it will not work but it will work. Just believe in me guys.

I am a jersey patcher, and I am amazed how you could get 1024 jerseys to work in this game.

I would like to help. I was originally finished with live, but I am coming back, as am having an orgy seeing those jerseys. j/k

Teach me how you get the jerseys to work in 1024, and you have my full help in this project. I have been unsatisfied with having to only make 256x 256, and I can make concept jerseys. Just look at my thread. I would love to see some of my jerseys in the glory of 1024 without crashing, and seeing as how you were able to do that, I would be coming back to live. If you want my textures to convert to 1024, I will give you them.

Guys, I'm wondering and can you guys please check your NBA LIVE 08/sgsm/uniforms/unihalf? I think something is magical there. Maybe they are the jersey that bench players wear. I think to make more realistic, if I'm correct, the traditional bench player wears like this:



Instead of this:



See the difference? The traditional one has uniform (not jersey) style logo with hippie looks, with sleeves and has long pants or shorts. In the second one, it's just the uniform after they were fouled out or substituted and still the same like in the real game. Anyone can test these concern? I think no one ever attempted for checking the unihalf folder. If I'm correct, then can someone make a sleeve uniform with long pants/shorts mesh and model?? I have many things to do in this project that I don't have time for making a mesh or model. PM me or reply here. Thanks a lot guys!!

Guys, there's a fan of NBA LIVE 08 and she commented like this:

"You, Suck bitch!! Your jrseys are wastes. They just look like EA files. No glossy feature. youre just like other modder, no originality."

Sorry, for that. One question, did you see a very glossy and bright jersey in reality? No. I'm not saying the modders who made this glossy jerseys are bad or wrong, but for me, I want the game as realistic as possible. I think glossy jerseys are meant to be like that to be more high quality, cooler, more beautiful and more colorful. For me, glossy jerseys are like jerseys wrap with plastics (try for your self in Photoshop). It looks not good, especially if you're making realistic jerseys. Mine is accurate like in the real-life game with a very little gloss effect (in able to blend with the lights and lighting in the game). That's all.

that is some VERY interesting thinking there MysteriousUnknown560!!! I hope that works.
maybe for testing purposes just copy another jersey...rename it...and place it in the unihalf and see what happens.
like get a teams away jersey, rename it home, and put it in the unihalf folder....when in game, pick the home jersey...and if the bench is wearing the away jersey u copied...then success!!


anyways, as a TUP patcher. ur work might be starting up some competition on "best live 08 mod" with us...but i like it! like a friendly rivalry - pushing each other to do better
