KidJustin wrote:RR, I base retired status on what i hear from nba news or wiki
if wiki says the person is a retired nba player then i retire them...if not then i leave them as a free agent
some players get phased out because no one signs them...but it doesnt mean they retired. Allen Iverson would be an example of that
based on ur example...
Matt Harpring should be retired but the last i heard Ruben Patterson is just an old free agent...i'll check again as the season gets closer (because i will also check which free agents are overseas and which are staying in the us)

I'm not confused at all, in fact I'm glad you don't get me wrong, it's really pure suggestions.
Reading your "Roster Statement", is there a way to restore by ourselves* players who's not into it anymore? (For example Wallace itself, considering that he's not included on TUP10 v.2, Update Package 1).
*and "by ourselves" understands people like me who doesn't know nothing about patching files/programs
Customizing your TUP10 Roster through the players.dbf
(useful for making players not available through the Trade or Sign/Release feature -like NT, Decade, or Retired players)
1. Backup your Save file!! (very important)
2. Download/Install DB Commander (found here on NLSC download: http://download.nba-live.com/index.php?act=view&id=1385)
*nevermind if it is a trial or that it expires, the main feature we will be using will still be available even if the trial period ended*
3. There are 2 windows (left and right) of the program, this allows you to edit two databases at once, for simplicity sake, we will only use the left window for this guide
4. There is a "folder" looking icon on the top left, that is the "Open" icon
5. Click on the "Open" icon and a browser window will open
6. In the browser window, navigate to your save folder (typically My Documents/NBA LIVE 08/save)
7. Open your save (or TUP10) folder
8. Open the "players.dbf"
Now you have choices:
9 (Basic)
9A. Click on one of the cells that you want to search on, ex. if you want to search by player's last name, select any cell in the "NAME" column. first name by FNAME column, etc
9B. Ctrl+F to bring up the find window and type in the search criteria to find the player you want to edit
9C. Once you find the player you must make sure it is the right one because a player can be in there more than one time because he is on more than one team
9D. The easiest way to do this is close the find window, then scroll to the right (either with mouse or right arrow) until you get to the TEAM column of that player's record/row
9F. Refer to either the teams.dbf (a whole 'nother story) or the default team ID's (http://nbalive08.nba-live.com/index.php?go=teams) to determine if you found the player on the right team (or retired)
9G. Since you are at the TEAM column already, change the number to 50 (free agent pool) or whatever team ID you like
(skip to step 11)
10 (Advanced) - coming soon
11. Right below the window there are a few icons, click on the check mark (to accept changes)
12. Repeat steps to edit another player
13. Close the program using the "exit" icon (far right Icon that looks like an arrow pointing at an open door)
14. Run the game, load the roster, and find the player in the free agent pool (or which ever team you placed them on)

KidJustin wrote:...i mean people can just as easily modify the roster to their liking (theres even some tips on how to in the README), which makes it even more confusing on why people would beg for rosters that recently just signed a player or a team went to a trade. there is a "trade" and "sign/release" options in the game by default....why cant people just use that temporarily while patchers make their updates? plus its not like patchers are going to release a new roster every time a player changes jerseys....we would release many changes in bulk at once time...oh well...i'll end my rant there
