As I promised, I'll release this patch. Sorry for those people who got banned. I felt guilty.

I think this project is abandoned. No one has written anything for two weeks, and looks like KidJustin is in NBA 2k11 now. So much for the empty promises.

That's not at all fair. Patching is something people do free of charge in their own free time, a hobby that one can easily lose passion for especially as fewer people play an older game and it becomes more of a chore. Not to mention more important matters getting in the way.
These projects are started with good intentions and release dates/time frames are set forth in good faith. Unfortunately, things don't always work out. And frankly, constant nagging and snark when patches aren't released quickly don't help matters. I can tell you from personal experience that constantly being badgered with questions like "When are the new rosters coming?" really starts to grate after a while and make me question why I still bother to do it, because it turns it from a hobby into a service and obligation. And that's not the way it should be.
Remarks like that really do a disservice to people who try their best to provide the community with updates and honestly, as a community I think we've done a pretty good job all things considered. Hopefully we'll be able to continue those efforts for a little while longer, until such time as EA returns to the PC platform or more people end up playing 2K. But it's a slap in the face to say that people are making empty promises when they're doing their best and have good intentions but plans go awry for very understandable and legitimate reasons. Such is life.

I see what you're saying, and I don't totally disagree. Some people don't have time to patch when something more important calls upon them (school, work, etc.). But still, patchers ought to inform the community of the progress of the patch once in a while and tell if the project is abandoned. Not telling just causes frustration from the community. At the very least, King Dee could have informed us that the project is dead, instead of dragging us by the tail that "KidJustin will release the patch". KidJustin, as I have checked, only posts in NBA 2k11 section, so the project, as I can see, is dead.

Would declaring the project dead ultimately garner a better response? I think most people would be equally upset, if not more so, to hear that. From previous experience, I can tell you it's a tough position because you want to get the project done and would rather not close the door on it, but circumstances are standing the way of getting it done. When nothing has been said for some time, I think we can take it as read that there's nothing new to report and move on to other things in the meantime. If someone steps in to help or the project otherwise gets off the ground again, fantastic. If not...well, these things happen.

I doubt that. I don't think many people would have been banned if the patcher just told that this project is on hold or dead or something. If such information was told, most people would understand and wouldn't pester the patchers with their demands.
P.S. I found KidJustin's latest comment on this patch. It was written on July 8, 2011 in TUP main thread:
Andrew wrote:double agree....once UP2 is released (sorry its taking so long )
this will be a dead thread and a TUP12 thread will be up
So the project isn't dead.

You'd be surprised, then. I've had to delay roster updates in the past and there'll always be at least a couple of people with a vitriolic reaction; how lazy I must be, how dare I not live up to my word, that kind of thing. It's why I prefer to say the rosters will be out when they're out until such time that I can be a little more specific (eg. this week, next couple of days) or much more specific (say, tomorrow). I like to be as specific as I possibly can be at the time but the way some people hold you to a date like it's a set in stone promise and kick up a stink when you dare to change that because something else got in the way...well, like I said, it's a tough position and it's tough to please everyone, no matter what you do. I get your point but I can see the other side of this too, having experienced it myself.

I agree with both of you two.I think King Dee messed up by giving dates of releases. Then making a big thing about the whole draft class project and then saying he was lazy at putting the files together and decided that he would release them in Tup12.I honestly think Tup11 was a mess.Hopefully it will be more structured in Tup12.

The problem with release dates is that a lot of people treat them as they're set in stone as an absolute deadline, as with the release date on a game itself. And quite simply, patching/modding just doesn't work that way. Release dates should never be set for patches unless you're absolutely sure, though at the same time the community has to realise that things happen and delays are inevitable. I would agree it's best to keep everyone informed of those delays as much as possible.
Honestly, I think the extras of TUP are a major part of the problem. They are fantastic to have, of course, but when it comes down to it I'd say most people want to play with updated rosters, faces and team art for the current NBA and so that's what they are most interested in when it comes to TUP or the NLSC rosters. Extra features - special rosters and the like - should really be developed initially as optional add-ons and when they're complete, added to the main pack. That way, the core experience of the mod isn't held up by special features.
Other than that, I think there's a case of people simply growing weary of developing the mod, moving on to other things and having other responsibilities. That's only inevitable.

.when do you think TUP 11:Update Pack 2 be finished?
.Is TUP 12 in progress???

So again, sorry for being an irresponsible patcher. Sorry for those broken promises. Sorry for being a lazy patcher. Sorry for those members who got banned because of me. What else? lol. Guys, if you just know how tough being a nursing student is. Okay, I understand why ya'll blaming me for the delay release of the Update 2. As I said, it's now up to KidJustin if when he will release the Update 2. I know patching should be a full time job but in my case, I just don't have those free time for patching. I only have 1-2 hours of patching on Sundays. Plus, no one is replying whenever I ask for a help (Just like when I ask someone to help me out for making draft class logos, coz I don't know how to make logos. LMAO), it's just like a one man show. LOL I'm so stressed...
TUP PROJECT IS NOT YET DEAD!
