Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:22 pm

so as exsample
Blake Griffin : gtm can compare with amare stoudemire if you see his highlights and he shoots like michael beasly
Thabeet: the guy is just like mutombo so we should just take all from dikembe or hibbert
Harden: harden shoots like prince i would say...the way he shoots and gtm like odom
Evans: shoots like carter (but evans isn't a good shooter) he often drives to the basket but he is like b-roy, the way he plays

so I would suggest that a couple of people here should take part in project: we split the drafted rookies so one is watching the videos of the 10 first drafted player and tries to compare them (the way they shoot, gtm ...) with nba players, and another make from 10th to 20th pick and so on...in 2 days it should be done and then in one day you will have the sig shots and gtm and then we can make together the ratings with our expiriense

Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Fri Jul 03, 2009 1:15 am

i could make to the 10th pick...
i already made the first 4 picks...so if noone disagree i can make the first 10 picks

so folks everybody can take part and everybody can wright his opinio about the sig shots

KidJustin I will be out for a while cause of the surgery...I would suggest the rookies shouldn't have an overall rating over 81/82

Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Fri Jul 03, 2009 2:13 am

thanks haaaaanis and have a safe/successful surgery!

i'll leave it up to community volunteer and post opinions on player sigshots/gtm/ftrituals/threepointstyle.

as haaaaanis suggested, it would be best for people to look over a range of picks (ex. haaaaanis has first 10). but if you ABSOLUTELY know who shoots like who then dont be timid! please post them. this would be especially helpful for you all that know how some of the 2nd rounders/international players shoot (maybe because of watching them previously or have been a longtime fan.) but dont have time/resources to be responsible for a range of other players.

Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Fri Jul 03, 2009 2:20 am

Where's the Roster I'll be getting from you?

Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Fri Jul 03, 2009 2:29 am

sorry i'm at work right now :shhh:

i'll send it to u tonight. it will have everything up to date except 2nd rounders

OH but a warning. some teams will have more than 15 players, and 1st rounders will all be starting centers by default.

hopefully that wont mess u up with previews.

Overall ratings dont really mean anything in NBA Live 08
If the most KidJustin, you should not give Blake Griffin or any rookie high awareness ratings(which I think are really weighted)
But I would give some of them athletic attributes

For example

Blake Griffin should have some decent ratings in strength, low post scoring, and jumping, but may be still a little below average on steals and dribbling
Thabeet should have a good rating on blocking and decent rating on defensive awareness, but may not not as good on the offensive end
Stephen Curry should have a good 3 point rating although he may lack in strength
The point I'm trying to make is that for now, rookies will always have major strengths, but also major weaknesses
Try to reflect that on your roster

BTW, I will try to give you scouting reports of all draft picks
Would you want it in a PM or in this thread?

Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Sun Jul 05, 2009 4:29 am

either is fine.

but in the thread might be better because then it will be open to the community and we can all learn/make comments on it to get a better opinion/suggestions on the rookies

...
anyways update news on the rookie roster: i will be using dee24's stats for the rookie teams. tonight (i would do it today but its independence day here in the states.) i will finish the appearance for the 2nd round.
(hopefully he can also teach me how he figured out the stats, i really want to learn how to do stats)

@dee24, did u make all of these release uve been handing out? (60 rosters/CF's) thats a lot of work good job, i think ur the first to release the whole thing. :applaud: (i wish i wasnt so busy with work then i could have got more done quicker...sorry everyone :miserable: )

i should also finish the salary update for nba players tonight

so expected release of roster is MAYBE tonight (no promises)

things that will be missing however:
haaaaanis is helping with the gtm/sigshot scouting so they will be gone
since most rookie salaries arnt all set ill just leave it blank for now (except eric maynor he signed already) *btw thanks Mrgreen716 for the salaries link. the rookie one is interesting and i already use the hoopshype one (Y)

----
oh and since i;m not getting anymore replys about the 00's all-star roster....ill tally it up and create a preliminary roster for people to judge tonight also.

Re: NBALIVE09/10 TUP Garage: Start of the 00's All-Star!

Sun Jul 05, 2009 5:05 am

Well, heres the scouting reports of the lottery picks KidJustin
Got them from a scouting website
Blake Griffin

Strengths: Perfect NBA power forward size. Great low post player. Big and strong. Has good hands. Very athletic for his size – won the Powerade Jam Fest at the McDonald’s All-American game in high school. Great spin moves in the post. Scrappy – battles for boards. Able to get out and run the floor. Capable of grabbing a rebound and starting a fast break on his own with the dribble. Great leaping ability – 37 inch vertical. Excellent passer for a big man.

Weaknesses: Poor free throw shooter - sometimes gets pulled out of late game situations due to it. Doesn’t block many shots. Turns the ball over too much - more turnovers than assists for his collegiate career.

Hasheem Thabeet

Strengths: Shot blocking – Thabeet changes the game due to his swatting abilities – had a 10-block game in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. Good rebounder. Good body. Huge wingspan – helps keep loose balls alive. Strong finisher. Can run the floor well for his size. Is playing in one of the top college programs in developing NBA talent. Greatly improved player each season in college. Shoots for a very high percentage from the field.

Weaknesses: Very inexperienced – only started playing basketball a few years ago. Still a little clumsy – drops passes, throws balls away. Offensive game is still very raw and underdeveloped. Never was a big scorer in college

James Harden

Strengths: Lefthanded. An explosive scorer - had over 30 points in three out of the team’s first six games his sophomore year. Shoots for an extremely high % everywhere on the court (FG, 3Pt, FT). Great at getting fouled and knocking down his free throws. Has three-point range on his jumper. Very good rebounder and assist man for his position. Young - will only be 20-years-old when next NBA season begins. Strong, solid build - won’t be pushed around in the NBA. Great at playing the passing lanes - led the Pac-10 in steals his freshman year. Smooth and under control. Mature and poised. Unselfish player. Used to being double-teamed.

Weaknesses: Not a standout athlete - not especially quick or a high leaper. Questionable foot-speed may limit his ability to guard one-on-one effectively in the NBA. Will be short for a shooting guard (may only be 6’4”). Turns the ball over too often.

Tyreke Evans

Strengths: Big-time scorer. 7’3” wingspan. Athletic. Highly skilled. Versatile - can play in the backcourt or on the wing. Memphis became a better team when he took over at point guard. Can get to the hoop at will - terrific slasher. Good ball-handler. Very good size for the backcourt. Was “the man” for an elite program in college. Uses his quickness and long arms to get lots of steals. Good at getting to the line. Hardworking - good attitude.

Weaknesses: A year older than most other freshman. Inexperienced. Didn’t play in a BCS conference. Poor shooter -needs to improve outside shot to keep defenders honest. Turns over the ball too often. Questionable shot selection. Plays out of control at times. Can he play point guard in the NBA? Off court issue - his cousin shot and killed a man while a passenger in Evans’ vehicle.

Ricky Rubio

Strengths: Incredible passer - has excellent court vision and is a creative passer. Very unselfish - prefers to set up teammates rather than score. Disruptive presence on defense - quick feet and hands - led the Spanish League in steals last season; averaged 3.2 swipes per game as a 16-year-old in the Euroleague. Fantastic ball handler - very elusive, tons of moves. Has blow-by speed with the ball - can get by his defender and into the lane. Has three-point range on his jumper. Extremely experienced - has played professionally since he was 15 - extensive international experience with Spain, including last year’s Olympics. Long wingspan - reportedly 6’9”.

Weaknesses: Needs to become a more consistent shooter. Injury and surgery done on shooting wrist caused him to miss a lot of time this past season and subsequently kept him from improving his jumper. Needs to add weight and strength. Can be too flashy at times - tries to force passes into tight coverage. Not a big scorer - only averaged in double figures in scoring once in his pro career. Still very young - especially for a point guard.

Johnny Flynn

Strengths: Great athlete. Explosive. Fast. Strong build. Good leaper. Very good ball-handler. Good conditioning - played huge minutes in college. Big time scorer capable of explosive outbursts. Can score on his own and also set up teammates. Can get to the rim at will and finish strong. Good playmaker. Good body control. Good and drawing fouls and converting at the line. Great at slashing and kicking the ball out to open teammates.

Weaknesses: Questionable shot selection. Takes too many three-pointers. Undersized for the NBA. Turns the ball over too often. Doesn’t shoot for a good % for a guard (especially from long range). Wear and tear from playing huge minutes in college? Needs to improve his decision-making. Still young for a point guard. Played almost exclusively zone defense in college - can he defend NBA point guards one-on-one?

Stephen Curry

Strengths: Scoring machine - can get you 30 even on an off night. Can hit shots from anywhere on the floor. Very crafty - finds ways to score. Can hit tough shots with defenders all over him. Proved his junior season that he can run the point on the college level. Great three-point shooter. Shoots for high % from everywhere (FG, FT, 3pt). Very good footwork. Great at moving without the ball. Solid ball handler. Gets tons of steals. Clutch player. Used to double and triple teams. Takes good care of the ball - solid assist to turnover ratio his junior season. Unselfish - good at setting up teammates. Good pedigree - dad Del played 16 years in the NBA.

Weaknesses: Not a standout athlete - not especially quick or a high leaper. Slight build - needs to add strength and muscle. Will be small for the NBA - even for the point guard position. Other than his junior year he played mostly shooting guard in college - can he play the point in the NBA? While Davidson plays a tough non-conference schedule, their competition in the Southern Conference is rather weak

Jordan Hill

Strengths: Lots of potential. Game has improved tremendously each year in college. Athletic for a big man. Long wingspan. Mobile. Good at facing the hoop and taking his man off the dribble. Decent face up jumper. Nice jump hooks. Explosive leaper - attacks the rim. Great rebounder - especially on the offensive end. Uses his length and mobility to block and alter shots.

Weaknesses: Will be turning 22-years-old a month after the draft. Still inexperienced - didn’t play organized ball until late in high school. Still a raw player. Needs to bulk up and add strength. Needs to develop more of a power post up game. Has to cut down on his turnovers. Tends to get into foul trouble. Mediocre free throw shooter.

DeMar DeRozan

Strengths: A tremendous athlete. Good wingspan. Very good rebounder for his position, especially offensively. Good body control. Can absorb contact and still score. Explosive leaper. Great at running the break. Good NBA body. Solid defender. Hard worker. Very good mid-range game.

Weaknesses: A year older than other freshmen. No three-point range on his jumper. Still inconsistent. No playmaking abilities - doesn’t get any assists. Still need to improve his ball-handling abilities. Game still is raw - needs more experience.

Brandon Jennings

Strengths: Blazing speed, both with the ball and without. Great ball handler. Able to score or create for teammates. Left handed. Three-point range on his jumper. Played in the toughest league outside of the NBA - the Euroleague. Great leaping ability. Familiar with the American and European styles of play.
Weaknesses: Very thin - needs to get bigger and stronger. Will be undersized for the NBA. Has to become a more consistent shooter. Played a lot of shooting guard in Rome - will be too small to do so in the NBA. Still needs more experience running a team as a point guard. Needs work on the defensive end.

Terence Williams

Strengths: Very athletic. Great body - NBA physique. Can create off the dribble for himself or for teammates. Good shooting technique - lots of elevation. Versatile player - can play out on the wing or in the post. Can score with his back to the basket. Has three-point range on his jumper. Exceptional rebounder for his position. Fantastic set-up man - racks up tons of assists. Experienced - played big minutes all four years in college.

Weaknesses: Horrible shooter - horrendous shooting % from the field, the charity stripe and the three-point line. Never been a big-time scorer in college. Inconsistent.

Gerald Henderson

Strengths: Very athletic. Strong defender. Quick player. Good mid-range shooter. Good at slashing to the hoop. Good genes - dad played 13 seasons in the NBA. Strong physique. Explosive leaper - attacks the rim. Long wingspan. Very experienced - played for one of the top coaches in the world in one of the top conferences in college. Strong physique. Tough player. Showed ability to be a clutch player in last season’s NCAA tournament. Good shot blocker for a wing player - led Duke in blocks his sophomore year. Solid rebounder for a guard. Has three-point range.

Weaknesses: Will be undersized for the NBA. Very inconsistent. Never been a big-time scorer in college. Never proved he could be “the man” for Duke. Mediocre free throw shooter (much improved his junior year though). A decent ball-handler but it still needs more work. Needs to become more of a long-range threat - doesn’t hit too many threes.

Tyler Hansbrough

Strengths: Very intense competitor – nickname is “Psycho T”. Big time scorer in a big time conference – the ACC. Very good rebounder. Very physically strong down low – a man among boys. Well polished game and mature player. Gets to the free throw line regularly (about eight times per game for his college career thus far) and shoots for a good percentage while at the line (about 73%). Plays for one of the top colleges for producing NBA talent. Very experienced. Steadily improving outside shot - worked very hard on his three-point shooting this past off-season.

Weaknesses: Not very athletic – not super quick and not a great leaper. May have trouble defending the bigger, more athletic power forwards that the NBA possesses. May be a little short for the power forward spot in the NBA – may only be 6’8”. Age - will be 24-years-old at the start of next NBA season.

Earl Clark

Strengths: Great size for a small forward. Has the ability to play in the post or out on the wing. Very athletic. Great leaping ability. Long wingpsan. Great at slashing to the hoop. Can drive by defenders with either hand. Capable of posting up and scoring with his back to the basket. Good defender. Great rebounder. Great shot blocker for a forward. Has three-point range on jumper.

Weaknesses: Still inconsistent. Needs to become more consistent and a bigger threat from three-point range. Turns the ball over too much. Never was a huge scorer in college.
