I actually meant to mention that before. If we can get the big heads done, then I think an alternate player package is the way to go so people can switch back and forth. Obviously I won't be making that change until such time as we get that feature in place but I do believe that's going to be the best way to go.

I'm going to change the art pointers for the Free Agents in LIVE JAM so that the regular rosters don't use the updated jerseys. I'll of course extract/rename art files as necessary.

I've been thinking about the aiact as well. Maybe the Street aiact would be a good solution here but if someone was up for making a custom one then I'd suggest replacing most of the layups with dunks (wherever possible, if that is indeed possible). Basically we want players dunking as much as possible, we don't want to see a lot of layups. ;)

For the sliders, we can definitely make use of the two sets options though it still means overwriting the user's realistic slider settings. Still, at the moment all we're looking at for switching back and forth between LIVE JAM and regular rosters is restoring the sound effects, sliders and rule settings, which isn't too bad.

ej17, maybe u should make a quick tutorial on how so u can focus on rookie and big head CF's?

Andrew, what do u mean that it will override the user's custom sliders? the way i play...i edited the NBA LIVE 08 sliders to how i want it (customized) and i have the CUSTOM sliders left as is....basically leaving it open to whatever other slider i would like to test (ex. JAM slider)

Maybe leave a couple of layups in there but ideally it should be dunks more often than not.

As for the sliders, if we're distributing a settings.dat file with the mod - which was my intention - then that's going to overwrite the settings users have in place.

Yeah I'll be reproducing it as a text file, just in case people want to do it manually or make some changes and want to restore the recommended LIVE JAM settings.

I like that. (Y)

If needs be, we can include a batch file that quickly and easily removes the updated basketball files. There will be some elements that will take a bit more effort to switch between, but so long as we can minimise that as much as possible I think it'll be pretty user friendly.

i see...i guess my part is done for the initial release then...

i'll get back to working on TUP

then do logos for the special characters using the main logo on the front page....
then create TUP TNT version logos of that team and the legends team (for people that want to use TUP10 and this
JAM project)...
then maybe work on jerseys/logos for an NLSC team...

cool?

...did anyone ever fix the numbers for the legends jerseys?

Sounds good to me. :) I can't really think of anything else we desperately need at this time, though I was thinking about perhaps adding the rookies to the Jam roster as their own team (similar to Jam TE) which would require jerseys and logos.

No one's posted any fixes for the legend jersey numbers as yet.

Probably not as that would be fairly tedious, but I'll see how things go. I could always do an updated edition with new 2011 season rosters.

I haven't started on the offseason updates yet. I'm still feeling a burned out on the rosters and have been busy with other things.

Yeah I'd say that's really good for a first attempt at a cyberface. At this point I'm not sure we'll be able to do big heads for the initial release though, so is there any chance you could make a version with a regular headshape?

Love the portrait.

Well played. ;) If we do manage to go with big heads then that's definitely suitable, so having both versions on hand would be good. As I said before, that's really good for a first attempt.

Given that the project is still a work in progress, I've decided it would probably be best if I update the rosters (since that's what they're doing with the real NBA Jam) while keeping ten man squads. So what I'll do is finish off the ratings for the rosters as-is, then make some moves and add a couple of other players as necessary, such as some of the rookies.

I'm also considering a removing all first names so players are just identified in-game by their surnames (and of course, their faces/portraits) or in the case of special characters, a nickname.

Will this have the proper NBA rosters or your own custom ones?

The rosters will be based on the real NBA rosters, but each team will only have ten players; basically, the top ten players in the rotation, who also tend to be the ones people are going to want to play with. Originally I was just going to base the squads on the final 2009/2010 rosters but now I think I will go ahead and make the moves and create a few of the rookies (in contrast to the current roster update where all necessary players are included).

So the rosters won't entirely reflect the real NBA as the current roster update does, but it will certainly be based on the real rosters. The players that will appear in the JAM rosters will be on their real teams, basically.
